Software Center icon in system tray never goes away

Hi
We are in the process of migrating sccm 2007 to 2012 and noticed the Software Center icon sits in the system tray and never goes away. The system does not have new software available for awhile and the system was also rebooted. We are seeing this on many
machines. What is the expected behavior? I have attached an image.
This never goes away.

open the software center and look for any applications made available in 'available software' tab. You can hide this window by disabling the setting from Client Settings: Computer Agent\Show notifications for new deployments = "False".
You can also configure the User Experience\User Notifications configuration setting for the app deployment to "Display in Software Center, and only show notifications for computer restarts".

• QuickTime icon in system tray

Just have to complain about how even though every time I upgrade to the latest version of QuickTime I uncheck the 'Install QuickTime icon in system tray' option, when the next upgrade comes around, it's right back there. I wouldn't complain if the upgrades were less frequent, but since they are frequent, would it be that hard to check that preference in the previously installed version and follow it in the new?

It is a good try, banfam4, but it is not a perfect solution.
I want updates of QuickTime. I want updates of iTunes that imply updates of QuickTime. I want the latest and least buggy and safest version of the software.
What I do not want is to have to repeat going into the preferences advanced ("advanced"!!!!) settings every single time Apple has fixed a bug to disable the icon.
I do not want any QuickTime player on my desktop. No quicklaunch icon. And once I have removed them, I want them to stay away.
Where are Apple's famous usability tests? Have they asked users: "do you want to remove the quicktime icon from the system tray through an obscure setting in a control panel you never use otherwise, every time we fix a bug?"
Did they find any single user who said "yes"?

• SAP BPC 5.1 "Client Software center" icons missing

Hi,
I had installed newly SAP BPC 5.1 (Single server installation) and installed Administration client & Office client on the server. It was successfully installed and all functionality was working fine.
Now I want to access this server from client machine (desktops). The desktops has Microsoft Office 2007 installed and trying to access SAP BPC using http://<servername>/osoft
I am able to get the home page, but when I click on icon "Client Software Center", I am not getting any icons for installing Client software (Ex: BPC for Office Installation, BPC client Diagnostics or BPC for Administration Installation)
Appreciate if someone can help me on this.
Cheers,
RAJU

That address should get you to the default landing page where you can access the software center. Since this is a single server environment you should obvioulsy be addressing the web server. I assume when you installed the client components on the server you were logged in as the service account that you installed the software with. If you are connecting from your desktop using authentication, then you would be connecting with the ID and password that you login to your PC with.
Have you gone through the BPC Administration security console and added your network ID to the application? If not, then the system will know you are not a vaild system user and you would not be able to install the software.
If you feel you have done this, then run the connection wizard and choose the option to connect with an alternate user ID and use the service account and verify you can access the software center. If you can with the service account but not with your ID then it is a application security issue with how your network account is setup in the system.
The other thing to check, when you say you cannot get the software center icon, are you getting the landing page and just not seeing it or are you getting a page error accessing the page? If you are getting a page error and you did not use the default port to connect with then you would need to pass the port number through when you are addressing the server (e.g. http://servername/osoft:8080)

• Software Update icon in System Preferences changed

Never seen this before. This morning I noticed that Software Update icon in System Preferences changed from the regular one to a BIG switch. Noticed this only in MBP.

I got it back. I moved Software Update preference pane from /System/Library/PreferencePanes to Desktop and moved it back. The original icon is back ! Ofcourse I ran Disk Permissions after checking.

• No icon in system tray for SB surround 5.1

Hi, I've just bought one Sound Blaster Surround 5. from ebay. It comes the device alone without installation CD. So I downloaded and installed the driver pack .0.0076 and Console Launcher. It works fine on my XP system, besides that there is no volume control icon in system tray. I used to have a Sound Blaster Digital Music LX, which did have an icon there. I'm just wondering whether it is just like that or should I do anything that might help.
Thanks.

.Re: No icon in system tray for SB surround 5.
xcynn,
What is the serial number of your card? You might find the original installation CD [url="http://hosted.filefront.com/creativeiso/">here[/url]. There are a couple of SB 5. OEM ISOs there. Otherwise, for many other SB cards, there is a "help" question mark on the panel of apps such as the mixer. Next to that question mark there is a downward pointing triangle. If you have anything like that in your Console, click on it and see if there is an option to display the volume icon on the taskbar. However, a left click of the Creative volume icon brings up the Creative mixer. If you don't have that mixer, I'm not sure what, if any, volume controls would come up even if you had the SB volume icon. In that case, the Windows volume icon gives you all the volume/mixer options you need.

• Skydrive (OneDrive) Icon in System Tray Caused by KB2849636

KB2849636 installs an update that puts a Skydrive icon in the system tray, and there is no way (that I know of) to remove it. I've since removed KB2849636 but assume It'll stick around for a while, has anybody come up with a solution that allows you to disable
this icon?

Hi,
If this issue still persists, as a workaround, we may just remove this icon from system tray:
Change how icons appear in the notification area

• HT201401 The red dot on my voicemail icon never goes away. I have no messages, but it will never go away. Any ideas?

Hi there, just got my new iPhone 4s & the red dot is always on my voicemail icon on the bottom of my homepage. So I check & I have no messages, yet it never goes away. Any ideas, or is it just a glitch in my new phone?

I just had this problem and this is how I resolved it (with the help of an Apple tech)
Go into setings and see if you have Celular Data turned on.
Settings / General / Cellular - Then turn Cellular Data to ON

• Itunes says "update complete" but "do not disconnect" never goes away!

So, I wait and wait and "do not disconnect" on my ipod never goes away.
A little history:
I got my nano a few weeks ago, put a few songs on - everything worked fine. Then, I got a new computer. Since I only put a few songs on, I didnt mind starting from scratch. Now, I can't seem to get it to work!? I have songs in itunes. when i click on my ipod, it shows that i have songs on the ipod, it SAYS the update is complete, my ipod shows "do not disconnect" i wait for ages, and then finally just eject the ipod, and - NO SONGS are on it.
help please. thanks
Windows XP Pro

Do not disconnect always on, this happens when you have "enable disk use" ticked in the iPod preferences, in which case you have to manually eject your iPod.
However if you are automatically updating your iPod and do not intend using it as a portable hard drive, you can set your iPod to automatically disconnect.
Connect your iPod and in iTunes go to Preferences>iPod. Under the Music tab see if you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes and also have a tick in the box marked “enable disk use". Remove this tick and your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished updating.
If you have your iPod set to manual update, the box will be greyed out and ticked by default, in that case use Safely remove Hardware icon or check this link: "Disconnecting iPod from your computer

• HT1339 My iPod classic shows that memory full in "other" category however there is nothing on it. I have left it connected all day and over night trying to restore it but the progress bar never goes away.

My iPod classic shows that memory full in other category however there is nothing on it. I have left it connected all day and over night trying to restore it but the progress bar never goes away. Is it shot or are there other options to restore to factory settings?

Hi pbworth,
When troubleshooting issues with iPod classic, it may be helpful to place the iPod into Disk Mode. For information on how to do so:

• Splash Screen never goes away

I'll post this again because a lot of people are having this same problem, but to my knowledge no one has solved it.
In Compressor 3.5.1, when you load Compressor the splash screen appears but never goes away until you click "About Compressor" and then click on the splash screen, then it will disappear. I have trashed preferences and the problem persists.

I finally found a fix that helped me out on 2 different problems:
First was the issue with the green bar appearing on the right side of the frame.
Second, the Compressor Splash screen never disappeared after it had finished loading. Once you clicked on About Compressor then the splash screen it would finally disappear. This didn't cause any performance issues.
Thanks to monoschluzz in the following post for the directions to fix this nagging issue:
http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10575848#10575848
Here are the directions he provided:
Stop all rendering in Compressor. From the Compressor Menu choose "quit all background processing" and close Comressor. Open a Finder window, choose " got to folder " from Finder's "go to" menu and type
/var/spool/qmaster/
Done that you're in the "Qmaster" folder. In that folder there are one or more weird named folders (random numbers & characters - i.e. 76646663-DD71D83A)
Delete that weird named folder (NOT the Qmaster folder itself) and restart Compressor.
At this point I was able to render clean mov's without nasty green pixels.
Hope that helps!

• When I go to my iTunes icon it comes up and goes away think I'm locked out

When I go to my iTunes icon it comes up and goes away think I'm locked out

I think that being signed into your apple.com account but with Safari first and foremost would be better as that would allow an Apple cookie to be set down onto an integral proprietary application (yes the Safari browser - go figure). Then (that is secondarily) you should sign into iTunes and have (more reliable) fun.
Google's motto was "Do No Evil" was it not? So do you honestly believe that their primary business interests and application performance jives with that of Apple? Sometimes yes, other times...no. Sorry, just sayin.

• Mail is checked continuously. The "thinking circle" never goes away

The little "thinking circle" right beside the 3g label in the top left hand corner never goes away in my mail app. This just started happening within the past week. This wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't chewing up my battery and bandwidth. Does anyone know why this might be happening or how I can make it stop?
I have mail set to check every 15 minutes, but it just keeps checking continuously. I check yahoo and gmail accounts.

My Ipad started doing the same thing this past week(5-6 times, and I am on manual), I tried switching app's and going back and it was still running. I then went to email sent, and after the sent mail was loaded I went back to mail, and it then loaded my new messages. suerte...

• DO NOT DISCONNECT SCRREN NEVER GOES AWAY!!

Hey i have an Ipod nano, 2 gen i think, 2gb. When I plug it into my computer the "Do Not Disconnect" screen on my Ipod goes up, and even when it's done uploading that screen NEVER goes away, it still charges, but that screen doesn't allow me to listen to my music when it's charging. Can I fix this?

Yes You can fix this easily. First let the Ipod download files from computor(known as sync), once it has downloaded, then click on the nano drive on the desktop, from the file menu click on eject nano or use the apple key(next to space bar) along with the e Key, push these two bottons at the same time. after the nano drive symbol disapears from the desktop, the do not disconnect will be replaced with a charging sybol, and you will then be able to play all tunes on your nano while it's being chared. When the nano is charge it will change the nano display to an electrical plug. Have fun!
