Software Center - past - due will be installed & maintenance/business hours

Hi All
I am struggling with some issues with installing software on clients.
Much of the software I have deployed can end up sitting in client software center as 'past due - will be installed' or 'pastdue - will be retried'.
They'll sit there until someone does something..meaning.. You need to manually start the deployment.. Then it installs fine.
I always set ' User Experience - When installation deadline is reached..... to "Software Installation" ticked.
There's apparently a client settings in Administration-->Client Settings->"computer Agent" which can affect the install as well "Additional Software manages the deployment......" this is set to "no".
Business hours on clients are set to 5-22.. I believe this is standard.
There is NO maintenance windows set for any of my collections.
What's strange is that some clients install software I deploy just fine.. while others I deploy to at the same time.. can leave the software as 'past due'. Meaning some clients install as they should while others end up in "past due".
Can someone guide me in the right direction..
Kindest regards, Martin

Hi Torsten..
Good call..
This is what VLC player returns in monitoring->deployments:
Failed to locate content error 0x87d01107 Failed to access all the provided program locations. This program may retry if the maximum retry count has not been reached.
but again.. if I go to the client and click on "try again" .. it installs..
Kindest regards, Martin

  • Software Updates - Past Due - Will be Installed

I've got a major problem that I need help with asap.  All of our software updates are coming on the clients as "Past Due - Will be Installed".  This just started happening this week out of nowhere.  Application deployments and package
deployments work fine, it's only with software updates.  I've recreated deployments, recreated software update groups and deployment packages and such.
Everything online points to a in Client Settings that is "Agent extension manage the deployment of applications and software updates", but that is set to false and has never changed.  Again this is only for software updates, not for anything
else.  We're using System Center 2012 R2, HELP!

Are your software updates groups deployed?
Can you post a screen shot of the message from one of the clients?

I appreciate the reply, I'm in a major bind right now.  Here is the screenshot

  • "Past Due - Will be installed", but the app never tries to install

I have gone over the existing threads and found none that fit my situation. Here is what I know:
The deadline has passed with a status of Past due - will be installed.
The deployment is targeted to a computer collection.
If I manually start the install, it works fine (no failures in the .exe or install process).
Running Application Deployment Evaluation cycle does not help.
The content is sitting in the ccmcache folder ready to go.
Resultant client settings show that "Additional software manages the deployment of applications and software updates" is not checked, so an errant client setting is not to blame.
AppEnforce.log shows no update since the application was discovered. Nothing else is popping out as a red flag in the AppIntentEval or AppDiscovery logs.
Rebooting did not help (sometimes pending reboots seem to get in the way.
Any ideas? This has been consistent problem in our environment, to the point that telling clients they can set up a required deployment sounds like I am not giving them the whole story.

Resultant client settings show that "Additional software manages the deployment of applications and software updates" is not checked, so an errant client setting is not to blame.
    He has not enabled that.

  • Past due - will be installed

    Hi all,
we've been setting up app-deployment using SCCM 2012, and are going in to production in about a month. Now, we have a major problem.
None of the required apps are installing. They're simply stuck at "Past due - will be installed".
Indeed they are past due (all deployments are set to install as soon as possible), but absolutely nothing is happening (no it's not a matter of waiting, it's a dead halt). If we click 'install all required', everything installs perfectly. But obviously that's
    not an option.
The appenforce.log doesn't seem to be doing anything either; and it's not a problem with access to install source either; since all apps download fine, and THEN go into 'Past due...'.
I've also tried scheduling it to a time in the future, and then it just goes 'will be installed at (xx)' and once the deadline passes, it's 'past due' again.
So in summary; absolutely nothing is happening; and we've gone over the setup a million times, everything seems to be correct. We've also tried installing the agent on a clean (non-deployed) machine; virtual machines and with and without bitlocker. No difference.
We are seriously stuck. Help! :)

Bah, I don't have Reporting Services installed. Will check that.

  • Past Due - Will be installed issue in SCCM 2012

Deployment of an application task sequence after the initial OS deployment task sequence is working fine, but several application deployments that is deployed to a role collection does not
install even if they are deployed required and deadline is passed. As you can see from print screen all the jobs is received by the agent, so the question is, why do they not start
    installing automatically?
Checked the Computer Agent settings and all the settings were also intact including “Additional Software manages the deployment of application” setting was set to No so there
is something else due to which this is not installing.
Checked in the below post for the same issue
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/rslaten/archive/2013/11/26/past-due-applications-not-installing-in-sccm-2012.aspx#comments
as per it issue may be with Incorrect revision number within any of the task sequences
targeted to a machine. Now how do I find the application with the incorrect revision number in any of the task sequences targeted to the machine?
Also not sure how to go about verifying the correct revision numbers in the task sequences if this is the issue in my case
    Please suggest.

Have you checked is there a maintenance window set? - No
Also can they find the content on a DP? Yes
Are the files present on the client in ccmcache? Yes

  • Past due Will be updated

    Hi,
I have a strange issue with software deployment. I Deploy some software which is set to "available" and the user installs it through the software center. for some reason after a few days/weeks the software status displays "Past Due - Will be
    updated"
This is the Command that is running:
    setup.exe /adminfile adminfiles\SECOffice2010_SSECG_ProPlus.MSP /config Proplus.ww\config.xml
Im not sure if it is because I have made a configuration change? is the installer doing something again on the computer?
Thanks for any response in advance.
    Mike

    Hi,
"Past Due - Will be updated" should be caused by a configuration change.
CIAgent.log on the client records some information about that.

  • Just updated the new software now the backup will not install, any suggestions?

I just updated to the the latest software iTunes did a backup that said it was succesfull.  Now, when I'm trying to sync and install the backup it says it is has encountered an error and the install was not successfull.
Any suggestions on how I can do this or do I have to start it over as a new iTouch?

I would try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then try restoring from backup.  If not successful than, as you said, I would restore to factory dfaults/new iPod. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

  • SCCM Software Center Installed Software

    Two questions:
First, when I go into the Software Center and click on the "Installed Software" tab, it is blank although I've successfully installed a few programs since.
Second, when I uncheck "Show Optional Software" nothing appears, although there are several applications listed in the Software Center "Installation Status" tab that are not required and set as an available user initiated deployment.

    Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Yes we only use applications. However point 2, some application are just available and do show up.
A workaround is to install the available software again through the application catalog. Then it shows up in the Installed Software tab and can my users un-install it.
    So what to do? Thanks.
I'm having the same problem. After every restart the installed software list is empty. Any ideas how to solve this (without the install it again workaround)?

  • Deskjet 1512 Printer will not install....

    Hi
I have a Deskjet 1512 "All in one" printer.
I have followed the setup and installation instructions down to the last comma- and still some 6.5 hours later- I still have a new printer that does not work.
    I am running Windows XP / Service Pack 3 / Dotnet 3.5
I ran the installation disk (provided), made a cup of tea, ticked the boxes, answered the questions.
When prompted (and only when prompted) - connected my Printer and USB lead to the computer... that's where the issues began.
The "Full Feature" whistles and bells software began to try  and detect my device.
It was beaten to it by Windows Harward "Wizard" - telling me it had detected a new device....but it could not be installed "Due to a missing Module".
About 2 seconds later - the HP "Full Feature" software spits out it's dummy and tells me to connect my printer and check the USB lead......
So- I replaced ther USB lead with 4 different ones I have spare, as well as try all the various USB ports on my computer.
    Still the same issue.
    However-
The Scanner had installed- and works fine.
So I attempted a forced "Backdoor" installation of the printer drivers- via Windows Hardware Manager.
This all looked so promising- the Drivers finally looked as if they were installing.
At 99%, the Hardware Manager pop-up informed me that my "device had been install successfully"....
About 1 second later- another pop-up appears- now telling me that it wasn't possible to "complete an action"? and that my "device was not installed".
A brief flick through driver manager showed me that my scanner was installed, but the Printer wasn't.
I completely uninstalled the HP software, and then Dot Net.... cleaned all Temp files, and removed all rogeu Registry Entries.
Then Restarted my computer (after checking that USB 2 was enabled in the Bios- which it was)
I then re-installed the upto date Dot Net (downloaded via HP website), and the Up to date "Full Feature" software (also courtesy of the HP website).....and.....
    ......still the same.
    In short- I have tried:
Removing all previous installations of the HP software and Dot Net 3.5
    Reinstalling all of the above
    4 x Different USB leads
All the different USB ports on my PC
Swearing and Cursing (usually works with Microsoft Products only)
The only thing I have NOT tried, is Witch Craft and Country Dancing.
Any further suggestions would be much appreciated......
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi again
As I have pointed out in my previous postings-
I have updated my version of XP, it's service Packs and also the version of DotNet- which I downloaded from this forum, and have double checked that it is the most up to date- which it is.
I have tried to "Copy" documents on the printer, and it does not do anything.
A warning light (beside the X button) flashes Orange.
I then tried to scan the document as a JPEG image- and that worked fine, it scanned, and saved with no problem whatsover.
I have tried (about 8 times now), the "Device Setup Failed to Complete" - and that pretty much states the obvious things to check when something doesn't work- the same things I have been checking for the last 6 or so days.
The Issue, is something with the software, as the drivers will not install to be able to operate the device correctly- despite attempting Various Uninstalls, Re-installs and manual installs.
In simple terms, installing the driver manually is fine; until it gets to the last stage- and then it stops and windows (kindly) informs me that "My printer was not installed as their was a problem".....it won't state what problem.
By using the HP installer; you go through the processes, and when asked to connect the printer, the HP software doesn't detect it, (though the XP Device Manager does).
    I have tried so far:
The Troubleshooting guide (as mentioned above, just seems to state the obvious)
8 Different USB leads of differing lengths.
All 6 of the USB ports on my computer- which otherwise work with other devices.
Un-installing the HP software, cleaning all traces from TEMP files and the Registry, restarting my computer and re-installing.
Manually installing the Printer using Windows Hardware Manager
Copying a document on the Printer - that doesn't work.
Scanning a Document on the Printer (That DOES work)
Ensuring that my version of Windows XP is up to date.
I have the latest version of Dot Not installed- which I have.
Installing "Next Driver down"- which does install the device, but it won't print.
I have been Unable to try another machine as yet, as I don't have another available.
But that I think is my next port of call.
Thanks for your help on this.

  • Software center "recently installed software requires a computer restart"

I've no idea why I'm getting this message in the notification area.
This message shows up a few mins after I have deployed an operating system task sequence to a laptop thin client (that uses File Based Write Filter).
This message doesn't appear to pop-up if I have the write filter disabled. but when it's
enabled, the message comes up as described below.
If I open up Software Center, there is nothing showing anywhere, so I've no idea what is being deployed or causing this message to come up. I reboot and it goes into Service Mode, then eventually reboots and back into normal mode.
How exactly can I tell what's going on?

Did you ever figure out an answer to Service Mode right after an OSD task sequence?  I'm having the same issue myself and thought I'd check.  Thanks.
Did you ever figure out an answer to Service Mode right after an OSD task sequence?  I'm having the same issue myself and thought I'd check.  Thanks.
What I found was that the systems would go into service mode some point after re-imaging and I wasn't sure why.
What I think has been helping so far is doing the following:
    1. For FBWF settings, add the following to your file-based write filter (I've done this for HP MT41 systems running WES7.
    cmd /c fbwfmgr.exe /setthreshold 256
    cmd /c fbwfmgr.exe /setpreallocation 1
    cmd /c fbwfmgr.exe /setcompression 0
    2. Within SCCM, make sure you have a collection created for the device you don't want to go into service mode, and ensure that the collection has as many queries as possible to ensure that the device gets put in the collection as soon as possible.
    3. On said collection, in its properties, set a maintenance window for a day of the past (like 12/2/2014 or something), and choose "NONE" for recurrence.
I believe the above should get rid of the system going into service mode, so far a few weeks it's fixed that for me.
Before, my systems would go into service mode, the software center would be up saying a reboot was in order, with the 15 minute or so timer on the screen, even with Windows Update completely disabled, and the file based write filter icon would be yellow.
I'd check Software Center from the Programs menu, and there was NOTHING in there.
I checked the File Based Write Filter and there was nothing in the overlay to be committed.
So when I checked SCCM and looked up the device that was in service mode, I used the powershell right-click tools to retrieve all Collections that the laptop was a member of, and it was not a member of the collection that had a past maintenance window, but
it was a collection of "All Systems" and "All Desktop and Server Clients", both of which had OSD Task sequences deployed to them.
So, I'm lead to believe that, even though the Task Sequences deployed are only available via Media and PXE, that Windows Embedded systems have have a glitch where will still get the deployment signal, or it will have to disable the file-based-write-filter
(hence going into "service mode") and do nothing while it figures out how to handle the deployment. That's just a theory but I'm not sure what else to conclude.

  • MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings for Windows XP and 2000 -- will not install on Windows 7

MultiMedia Center for Think Offerings for Windows XP and 2000 -- will not install on Windows 7  in compatibility mode or any other way. I receive error " can not open \device\memory" and then " This program can not run on his hardware.
Thinkcenter E series 8291-ETU --- upgraded from XP to Windows 7 yesterday.
Any ideas on how to get this product installed in Windows 7 ?

I recently did a clean install of Win7 Ult on my X61 7676A24, and this is the only Lenovo software that I could not find a Win 7 solution for. However,
    1. I was able to load WinDVD8 upgrade (from Lenovo's Win7 information page) after first loading the WinDVD5 version that was the last good release for Vista.
    2. The Multimedia Center for Think Offerings is basically Roxio's suite for writing cd/dvd's, drag to disc and so on.
Since I could not load this anyway, I was forced to try out Win7's inbuilt cd/dvd writing - it works perfectly well.  Even better, Win7 natively supports an excellent ISO burning tool. So, I think if you explore these inbuilt tools, you can probably live without the Mul Cent for Think Off.

  • How to clear/reset "Installed Software" in Software Center?

    Hello!
I've done a big mistake with my application objects!
I did have two applications in SCCM 2012 with the same MSI-installation package. The reason for this is because i would like to have one that is deployed as Required (with primary device) and one that is deployed as Available for those without primary device.
Then I decided to only keep the available deployment, so i deleted the required appilcation entierly from SCCM.
Not so wise because now all the required installations is stucked in Software Center, at the "Installed Software"-tab. And there is noway to remove it.
So my question is, is there someway to reset or clear the information from software center? Or any other sulotion to my problem? :)
    Best regards,
    Johan Lång

It seems like it has removed the entries from the software client automatically now. But I still got problem with the main source of the problem. That I cant push out updates via software center.
Let me explain the main problem.
I had app1 as a MSI, and two application objects (AO). One AO as required and one as available, but the same MSI.
After a while I got an integration-application between app1 and another program, as a MSI so i decided to put that as a dependency to app1, but also pushed it out to all users as a required deployment, because it would not install it otherwise, if not the user
did an uninstall and then a fresh install of app1.
And for a couple of weeks ago I got my eyes on "automatically update any superseeded applications" while deploying. So i decided to use that with one AO instead of two (required/available). In the same time an update came to app1, lets call it
    app1.1.
This was a perfect time to try my new discover and disabled app1 and superseeded it with app1.1 with a available deployment, with a dependency of the integration-application.
But the clients could not be updated automatically and when the user tried to update it manually via application catalog it get stucked at the last step "evaluate" before it jumps over to Software Center. And nothing else happen. Until it crasches
and warn about "it could not be evaluated" in the application catalog. Sometimes it pops up anyway in software center but it wont continue to install, and if you try to manually start the installation it get stucked at the status "Waiting"
    and nothing happens.
If I login with another user I can start the installation manually and it works fine.
If I uninstall the sccm-client and install it back again, the "installed software" will be cleared and I can start the installations manually, so it pops up under "installed software" again. Without any problems.
It also worked to install if i removed the dependency of the integration-application.
So my guess is that something is getting corrupted in the user profile, but I cant find any files regarding sccm in there exept the log file for software center.
I hope you understand abit of what i try to explain :) Sorry for bad grammar!
    Regards,
    Johan

  • A custom task sequence to install software is always listed as Operating System on Software Center

    Hello,
I have built several custom task sequences to install software in SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 environment, but the type of task sequence is always listed as Operating System on the Software Center. I tried creating a simple task sequence (Task Sequence 1) that contains
a single restart computer step only and tried deploying it to a test machine. This task sequence is also listed as Operating System. This task sequence fails because this is not the one for OS install and I do not specify a boot image for this task sequence.
All task sequences that I have created in SCCM 2012 RTM environment are working as expected. All task sequences that I create in SCCM 2012 R2 CU1 are listed as Operating System regardless of its actual type (I upgraded my environment from CM2012 RTM to CM2012
    R2 CU1 last month).
Here is a test task sequence that contains a single step of restart computer. This is not Operating System install but listed as Operating System. Any thoughts?

If you use OSD steps in your task sequence you will get this prompt.

    Per Mikko:
Using any of following steps (and possibly others as well, I did not check all of them) will change the task sequence type from generic to OSD:
General - Join Domain or Workgroup
General - Restart Computer (Only "The boot image assigned to this task sequence" option)
Disks - Format and Partition Disk
User State - Request State Store
User State - Release State Store
Images - Apply Operating System Image
Images - Setup Windows and ConfigMgr

  • Software center dont show the package(not applications) on the client as installed when logging in with other User ID.

It is showing as Installed in software center with user ID through which it is actually installed but not from other User ID's.
Please send me suggestions or how we can resolve this issue.

Software center might not show it if there are multiple users logged in. It will only be shown to the
user that got the highest (lowest? Can't remember it) session id.
