I have CS4. Does any part of that enable me to combine 3 pdf's side by side and output a correspondingly larger pdf?
If CS4 won't do it, will CS6? Which particular piece of software in the Suite would handle the job? Thanks!

Acrobat - in any version. Or InDesign - in any version. Or Illustrator - in any version. Or Photoshop - in any version (if rastering items is not critical). You simply haven't tried.

Multiple Choice Question Issues

I am embedding a quiz within my presentation with individual
question slides interspersed throughout the presentation. These
questions are pulled from a couple of different question pools. I
want to use a multiple choice question that branches to different
parts of the presentation depending on the correct or incorrect
answer. If the user answers the question incorrectly, I send them
to the next slide which has two click boxes. On this slide, they
can either click one box to move back in the presentation and
review the material or click another box to move them forward to
another multiple choice question. If they go back and review the
information, they would eventually return to the same multiple
choice question to try it again. (This is the desired navigation,
anyway.)
What actually happens is that when the user goes back to
review the information and then finally returns to the question,
the question has not been reset and still shows the incorrect
answer marked with no way to clear it.
I have used this same navigation on a drag-and-drop type
question and it works fine. All the settings for the
multiple-choice questions are set the same as in the drag-and-drop
question.
Any help in making this work correctly would be greatly
appreciated.

I can't see where that error might arise except possibly for a case where an AS2 radio is used since it appears they don't have a group property, but an AS3 radio button does. Check to be sure that your Flash Publish Settings are set to use AS3. AS3 errors normally have error numbers which also makes the error you quoted ring of an AS2 scenario.

1. What is J2SE 5.0 Release 4, version 4.0 (39.3 MB) and, is it necessary to install?
2. What is X11 Update 2006, version 1.1.2 (51.0 MB) and, is it necessary to install?

J2SE 5.0 is the latest version of Java. Mac OS X originally ships with Java 1.4 and this gives you the opportunity to upgrade to the latest version.
It's an optional upgrade since there are many changes between Java 1.4 and java 5, so some people might prefer to hold off until they've verified their Java apps work with the new version. For most people, though, it isn't an issue.
X11 (also known as XWindows) is a standard GUI interface for Unix systems. If you're using X11 you'd probably alredy know about it and therefore wouldn't be asking this question. It's not going to cause any problems if you update it, but it won't offer any advantage unless you're running X11-based applications.

I am using C5 and want to set up a quiz with multi choice questions. What I want to know, is it possible to mark partially correct questions - i.e. if there are three possible correct options in a question and the user only gets two, I want to award them 66% of the marks for that question. is that possible please and if so how?

The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

The reason I am interested in capturing the user answers in Submit All situation is that I know after I published the test using SCORM 2004, all the user responses were captured in "cmi.suspend_data" because my test can resume the test to the last exit question in the middle. However, when I looked at the suspend data value, I have a hard time to understand the pattern and pick out the meaningful user question responses data. I really need help from you to understand how the suspend data value was constructed and how to parse this data. Another area I thought it's easy to get the user question responses data is the interaction records, but I always got only one question (the last randomly sampled question) interaction record. See the following generated XML SCORM 2004 4th edition data. Could you help me figure out how to interpret the following suspend data to get the users responses to each test question? New Member / Video Card Choice Question

New CS4 Production Premium User Here.
I am building a computer system specifically for Video Editing and production for use with Premier CS4 & Sony Vegas.. Have been doing my usual amount of Over Research here and other places but have a series of issues I am having a little trouble coming to grips with.
I have been into computer editing game for a long time but strictly in the Audio Recording /Mixing area /..
Video is a new interest which has me hooked / Im also a Gear Junkie so I have to watch it. 
I will probably be back with a couple more topics but to keep this thread simple /
My first post question is the topic of Video cards: Adobes Hardware compatibility list seems a little out dated. ?
The system does not have to be an ultimate gaming rig as I am not into that / just SD & HD Video editing & 3d effects.. I need a card which will do what is needed / works well with Premier CS4 / Is not too loud fan wise / can run 24/5 and not overheat.
I also will need the ability to monitor on a HD TV with a good sound monitoring system / Midas / Bryston / Dynaudio etc;
I was considering either of the following / from lowest price to highest.

Is a 512mb card sufficient?

My builder suggests to stick with ASUS Video Cards because he has the fastest warranty replacement service on his end for ASUS products / plus I am a total ASUS Motherboard guy with years satisfied experiences.. (in Audio setups).

It seems what you have said about QUADRO cards is the most agreed upon overall from my last three months of research at various locations / The cost is extreme for these cards & I was just trying to determime if I realy needed to go that far : >$2,000.00 and up.
just for the Graphics card..
Perhaps I should start of with one of the cards I first mentioned which are dirt cheep compared to the Quadro series and replace it when I have arrived at the point where my shills are beyond my hardware limitations.

b conclusion to this point in the game:
Looks like If I do a top notch system following all the higher end recomendations it will cost me over $10,000.00 (if I include a capture card / raid card (Areca 1220 or 1240(don't want to get into that topic just yet)& all the extras... This is about double the investment I had planned as this is basically a serious hobby not a business venture. Plus we have not included another $6,000.00 for a half decent peosumer HD camera with a few extras. I was trying to keep the entire setup to 8 to 10 grand total.. Not including the software / so this looks like wishfull thinking at best / Ho Ho.
b remember / unfortunately my pricing reflects Canadian $$ which includes a 25% hike in pricing because our government wants the loonie (Good Name) low valued so businesses can export our products at built in 25% Sale Pricing.

Multiple Software Versions Question

Rookie question here. My organization recently purchased a new copy of InDesign CS6 for me and one other employee. We did NOT purchase Creative Cloud subscriptions, but hard copy licenses. The software is working great and we love your product. The problem we are having is in regards to other people in our organization trying to open our newly created InDesign Documents (CS6) with their older version of the software (CS5). We do NOT have the option to upgrade the CS5 software licenses, so what are our options for those employees with CS5 to be able to view and edit documents created in CS6? I'm assuming there is a way to save the CS6 documents as older versions, correct? We all operate Windows PC's. I greatly appreciate your help.

@Todd – the only way saving back is exporting to IDML from CS6 and open the IDML in CS5.
If this is a reliable workflow is questionable. You have to proofread the opened IDML in CS5. I recommend to export to PDF from CS6 as well and compare the PDF with the opend IDML in CS5.

Multi-choice question - go back and re-answer?

Request was to build an activity where learner is presented 4 questions each with two options. After answering the question, return to the list of 4 questions where their responses are measured accumulatively. After seeing the sum of their answers they should be able to go back into the questions and re-answer them to increase their sum.
So to accomplish this, I have 4 multi-choice slides and one 'menu' slide. the menu slide has 4 buttons to each of the question slides. Each question slide has an adv action for the on success and on failure which sets a couple variables (basically saving what their answer was). I have an On Enter adv action for the menu slide which checks this variable and display an image based on their sum.
This all works great in preview, but when I publish or preview in browswer, I'm not able to re-answer the quesion. When I return to an answered slide, the multi-choice buttons are greyed out.
I have 'allow backward movement' enabled. This is not the first quiz question in the project. Not reporting to LMS. I'm trying to avoid writing a bunch of adv actions (more than I already have) so I was hoping to use the built in question slides.
Sorry, I'm unable to share the project file or provide screen shots (corporate policies)
The 'works in preview, not in publish' is frustrating. Any suggestions or ideas on what's happening?

Yes, I ended up ditching the CP quiz and used a couple buttons on each slide. Mostly I was concerned about throwing out the adv actions I'd already written, but I was able to massage them with little effort to make them work.
What was happening when I was previewing, it seemed, I was jumping back to the 'menu' slide which was before the first question slide. When I'd hit that menu slide, it was essentially resetting the quiz and letting me re-answer everything. The whole interaction was 5 slides so I was easily able to use the 'preview next 5 slides' option and didn't consider that in the full project I'd be within the quiz scope.
I ended up playing with it a little to understand it better myself. I moved that 'menu' slide to slide 2 of my full project (with question #1 on slide 38) and used navigation to move back and forth. Slide 2 was outside the quiz scope and then jumped to slide 38 within the scope and it worked great.
But... that seemed like a nightmare to maintain going forward... What happens if one of my team mates has to update the project, sees that slide strangely placed and moves it? Boom - activity broken.
Anyway, again, thank you for your replies. I ended up adding 2 buttons on the slide, one for each 'answer' and attached the 'on success' and 'on last attempt' adv actions I had on the question slide to the respective buttons. Seems to all work correctly.

What i want to achieve is:
Build a rich internet application.
Unified layout that will start fast. very small loading time (less than 3 seconds including the background and menus).
I need a search and category filter (get input text and check boxes and send them to database and retrieve the query)
When an icon or button is clicked, data is dynamically retrieved and automatically updated (animation on the whole page or text/image area when an icon or button is clicked) (no page refresh)
Some caching or background downloads when the site is idle, but give priority whenever an icon is clicked.
Some animated charts and site stats.
Some animated images where you can click on a portion of the image to trigger some text/images on to the image like tips and help
Site updates send subscription members (rss, email, facebook, twitter)
If there is an easy way to update the site, rss, email, facebook account, and twitter account at the same time
Optional (I want to create a discussion board (forum like) integrated in the site)

6-      When I finish the web application. How much work would it take to make a mobile (Android or iPhone maybe) and a desktop (adobe air) versions. Is it as easy as making a file export in different format, or just minor tweaks to make it work?
7-      Last thing, what references or books do I need?

As a new Flex user maintaining part of an existing project, I would say to be very cautious.
I haven't used robotlegs, but attempting to learn flex and robotlegs and convert part of an existing project to use it is a recipe for disaster.
In my experience companies are interested in quick results when in maintenance mode on existing projects and won't be interested in excuses when the new developer messes up an existing project by trying to introduce a framework they know nothing about.
Get comfortable with basic Flex. If you want to try RobotLegs, create a test project to play with.
Don't add robotlegs to a live project when you are not sure of either flex or the framework. Or if you do, start looking for your next job!

Software Purchase Question

Hello All -
I am contemplating moving from PC to a MacBook Pro with Retina Display and a loaded up iMac.
My question pertains to the way that software is licensed via the App Store on an Apple. When you download an app, it can go to both an iphone and ipad. I am wondering if I were to download paid software(Finl Cut Pro, Motion, etc) onto my Macbook, would I also be able to access them on my iMac, or would I have to purchase separate licenses?

Unless stipulated otherwise you can install any software purchased in the App Store on all the computers that your own. It is tied to your Apple ID so each computer should use the same Apple ID for authorization.
If you sell the computers at some later date you cannot transfer your license to a new owner. They must purchase their own software using their Apple ID.

Working with raw/NEF Files..Software Choices?

Just got a new Nikon D50. I'm a pure consumer user, but I'm figuring I should at least consider using the NEF (raw) format some of the time. I gather that iPhoto will convert these to jpg files, but what about software for editing the pictures? As I said, pure consumer use here so I don't want to invest hundreds of dollars in some high end program. Are there some basic, consumer-oriented programs to consider? I have an Intel iMac, by the way. Thanks.

The answer to your question as phrased is: never.
CS5 is history and it is not longer supported. There will not be any updates or bug fixes for CS5.
You need to convert the raw NEF files from your D810 to raw DNGs using the free, standalone Adobe DNG Converter 8.6 RC (beta), the first version ever to support that camera..
