Sorry for not getting back to you earlier.
Could you give us more information on your set up? What are the machine/ device involved?
Which type of network are you on? What kind of firewall is in place?

  • User having trouble connecting to VPN using mobile broadband card

I've got a user with a laptop running Windows 7 who is trying to use an AT&T mobile broadband card to connect to a VPN using the Cisco IPSec VPN client. The card is the Sierra Wireless Momentum 4G. The VPN connection established fine, but no traffic gets passed after that. Other users can connect to the VPN fine (not using mobile broadband, though). Wired and wireless connections from this laptop are able to get to the VPN fine. It's just over the mobile broadband service that this happens. Are there any workarounds for this issue?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
To use the proprietary BB services (including Push email capability, native browser, BBM, etc.), you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), your BB-proprietary services will function (e.g., you will have Personal/Internet Email added to the email setup wizard, your BBM will function, etc).
    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_do_I_need_a_Data_Plan_for%3F
With hundreds of carriers in the world, each with dozens of different data plans, it's impossible to tell you specifically what any service plan might actually provide. Only the carriers can answer that question. The best thing to do is to decide what services you desire, and then talk to your carrier about obtaining (from them) a data plan that enables what you desire.
    Good luck!

  • Connecting over VPN using Toad

    Hello,
We have started experience problems connecting to our 9i and 10g databases when using Toad over a VPN connection. Although a connection is actually made nothing is returned to the Toad client and it justs hangs. This problem only occurs over a VPN. When connected to the LAN there is no problem. Also it is possible to connect over the VPN using SQL Developer. This has only recently started happening. In the past we have been able to connect over the VPN without a problem. Sounds like a Toad problem? Yes! I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this and new of a resolution.
    Thanks James

    Hi ,
The OP is able to connect through SQL Developer using VPN so no issues with VPN,The OP is facing problem when connecting using TOAD so:

I am working on a powershell script to connect cisco vpn using powershell, I am able to connect to vpn but not sure how to add new group to vpn. I am using the following script$vpn_profile = 'Test'
    $username = 'TestUser'
    $userPassword = ConvertTo-SecureString -String "Password" -AsPlainText -Force
    $credentials = new-object -typename System.Management.Automation.PSCredential -argumentlist
    $username,$userPassword
    $password = $credentials.GetNetworkCredential().Password
    Set-Location 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco Systems\VPN Client'
    .\vpnclient.exe connect $vpn_profile user $username pwd $password
    Write-Host "You Are Connected"
    cd "C:\"

Have you entered .\vpnclient.exe /? to see if it will return information about other switches you can use with this executable? Other than connect, I was able to track down a few without actually having the executable (http://www.scribd.com/doc/40108893/Cisco-VPN-Client-Command-Line).
That said, I do not believe that there is a switch that will help you create a connection. These are either done manually through the GUI, or can be likely be added by supplying a properly formatted file in the proper place.
If you're using the version of the Cisco VPN client I think you are, then your connection settings, or profiles, are stored in individual .pcf files somewhere on your computer (likely in the Cisco directory). These are simple, text-based files. Find one
on your computer, save it with another name, and then modify it manually. If you really want to use PowerShell, then use this opportunity to learn how to create and edit basic text files using PowerShell. If you have a standard connection file, then you can
put that file onto remote computers any number of ways. If a .pcf file exists in the proper place when the VPN client is opened, then it likely will not prompt for a new connection.

  • Vpn software for connecting mac from windows

Is there VPN software availbale which I can use in windows system to connect to a mac system?

Is this for a corporate environment? I would check with your work's I.T. Dept. and find out what they are using as their VPN Server application; my employer uses Checkpoint and in the case of Checkpoint, I know that they made a free Tiger-compatible VPN client for users in addition to a Windows-compatible client that works with their enterprise-class VPN server product; I would imagine that most VPN server vendors would at least have a complementing Windows-compatible client product.
I know that Equinux makes a "third-party" VPN client called VPN Tracker for Mac platforms, that purportedly interoperates with a great number of VPN server products and fills the void where the server houses have not bothered to support Mac clients -- from prior experience I know for a fact that it worked great with one flavor of Checkpoint server, but I don't know if they make a Windows version or not. Check out equinux.com for more info on that product.

  • Can I connect to F-Secure Freedome while being connected to my work VPN?

QuestionCan I connect to F-Secure Freedome while being connected to my work VPN?
AnswerIf you are working remotely and you are required to be connected to your company VPN to access your company’s internal services, it is recommended that you turn off the FreedomeVPN.
While it is still possible to switch on FreedomeVPN when connected to your work VPN, this may however hinder access to your company’s internal services.

Install an application such as MacDrive onto Windows.

    Hi Pebbles2313,
It sounds like you have an issue with your printer software. You may find some of the software necessary to run your printer through the following link:

I have bought a WD My Book World Edition to use for back-up of my iMac, but when I try and log onto the drive with Apple time Machine (back-up software) or connect in any other way I get the message 'There was a problem connecting to the server "MybookWorld.local" The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported. Any ideas on how to solve would be gratefully received?

Followed the directions on this page and it worked!
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1102423
Part One - Turn on SSH (in the admin panel)
    [1] Go to to http://mybookworld.local
[2] login: username will be admin, password will be whatever you have setup. If you can't remember it should be in your Mac OS X keychain (Utilities > Keychain Access, search for "mybookworld"). If you have not changed if from the default the password will be admin as well.
    [3] Switch to advanced mode.
[4] From the System tab, pick Advanced.
[5] Enable SSH Access, and click submit.
[6] Click on the network tab and then the LAN button
[7] Make a note of the IP address
Small, maybe obvious, but nevertheless important point: For the install to work, your NAS needs to be connected to a router with internet access.
    Part Two - Install netatalk2.2
    [8] Open Terminal.app (Utilities > Terminal)
[9] Enter the following command (substitute in 127.0.0.1 for the actual IP address you noted down in step 7), then hit return:
    Code:
    ssh [email protected]
[10] When prompted, enter the ssh password (will be welc0me).
[11] You are now going to download the installer. Enter the following command, then hit return:
    Code:
    wget http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/local--files/netatalk2-2-on-whitelight/install_netatalk.sh -O install_netatalk.sh
[12] Once completed, you will need to run the installer. Type:
    Code:
    sh install_netatalk.sh
[13] You will be asked a number of question during install, answer yes to all. When asked about the "DHX2 login process", I opted to install the modified version, so I can confirm it works.
[14] Once the box has restarted, you should be able to connect to your afp shares and continue to use Time Machine.

  • Connecting VPNs using a PIX Firewall

    Hi,
We are trying to configure a PIX firewall to connect differents VPNs on a MPLS enviroment and we have a problem when we use more than one firewall.
With one FW all works fine, but with two or more in some situation we can have recursive routing and It doens't work.
Do you know any way to connect differents MPLS VPNs using differents Firewalls.
    Regards.

Would appreciate if you can elaborate more on the topology and the minute details on the problem that you experience with multiple firewalls.

  • Cannot connect to work using Nortel Vpn Client

    Hi Guys,
I have a linksys router at home and I am unable to connect to work using the Nortel VPN Client, it works intermittently.. sometimes it connects but most of the time it comes back with an error saying " Login Failure: remote host not responding"
But when i ping the FQDN of my company's vpn box I get a successfull reply,  I did a small test and connected to a random wi-fi connection near my house and after I was connected to that I was able to use my vpn client to connect and connect to work so there has to be something wrong with the linksys router settings I have.
I tried logging on to the admin page of the router by going to 192.168.1.1 and under the security tab under vpn I enabled all the protocols for thr VPN passthorough but the problem still persists.. any ideas??
    Thanks in advance

  • Using Applescript to connect to VPN and add routes

I posted this in the wrong place last night, but actually managed to get an answer to it. Here is the original post:
I need to be able to set some routes upon opening a particular VPN connection so I did some searching and found a really simple Applescript that does the job. Problem is it tries to set the routes before the VPN actually connects so the routes don't go in.
I added in a 10 second delay which does the trick, but I'm thinking there has to be a way to do this that waits until the VPN actually connects before continuing - so if it takes 5 seconds or 10 or whatever, it waits.
The other thing I'm doing that I think is bad is I'm sending a route delete command before sending the add command. Why? Because if I don't and for some reason the route is partially in the table, it doesn't give an error and ends up not routing. Again, probably a better way to do this.
    Here is my current script:
    -- Connect Work VPN
    tell application "System Events"
tell current location of network preferences
set VPNservice to service "Work" -- name of the VPN service
if exists VPNservice then connect VPNservice
    end tell
    end tell
    delay 10
set gateway to "x.x.x.x" -- omitted here for security
do shell script "route delete 192.168.25.0/24 " & gateway with administrator privileges
do shell script "route delete 192.168.20.0/24 " & gateway with administrator privileges
do shell script "route add 192.168.25.0/24 " & gateway with administrator privileges
do shell script "route add 192.168.20.0/24 " & gateway with administrator privileges
From the response I received, I modified the script to this:
    tell application "System Events"
tell current location of network preferences
set VPNservice to service "Work" -- name of the VPN service
if exists VPNservice then connect VPNservice
repeat until (connected of current configuration of VPNservice)
    delay 1
    end repeat
    end tell
    end tell
set gateway to "x.x.x.x" -- omitted here for security
do shell script "route delete 192.168.25.0/24 " & gateway with administrator privileges
do shell script "route delete 192.168.20.0/24 " & gateway with administrator privileges
do shell script "route add 192.168.25.0/24 " & gateway with administrator privileges
do shell script "route add 192.168.20.0/24 " & gateway with administrator privileges
That seems to work perfectly, but I'm still wondering if there is a better way of handling the routes. Suggestions?
    Thanks.

I realize the VPN gateway should add the routes, but it's not and they don't seem to want it to. No idea why.
As for deleting/adding the routes, yes it does seem wrong to do this or pointless. The reason I'm doing this is for what I found in my testing of the script which was if the script hung for some reason and the route did not fully go into the table, I would be unable to add it with the script when I ran it again.
I'm probably not explaining it that well, but when I couldn't route after trying to run my script initially, I tried manually running the add route command and I'd get an error. Thus, I deleted/added the route and than it worked again.
As pointless as it seems it works every time. I'm sure there's a better/cleaner/smarter way of doing this, but I don't know enough about Applescript to do any more. At this point I can probably remove the delete command, though, since it should run properly each time.

  • 10.9.2 Update Issue (VPN) - Eclipse Perl debugger issues while connected to VPN

This post was initially added to this discussion: 10.9.2 Mavericks update issues
I have yet another issue related to 10.9.2 update - Eclipse Perl debugger issues while connected to VPN...
One of the big changes introduced by 10.9.2 update - are VPN changes (security fixes). Unfortunately, whatever these changes are - they "broke" Eclipse (OpenSource IDE) debugger. I am not sure if *all* programming languages (Eclipse plugins) are affected by this, but I know for sure that 'Epic' (Perl plugin) debugger *stopped working* while system is connected through VPN.
Here is the error that gets “popped-up” in the Eclipse:
Timed out while waiting for Perl debugger connection
… and here is exact exception stack that gets printed:
Unable to connect to remote host: 130.10.210.74:5000
    Compilation failed in require.

(of course IP address changes dynamically for each VPN connection session)…
I was able to prove that this issue is related to 10.9.2 update:
Issue *does not* exist under 10.9.1 (I had to revert back to 10.9.1 to get it working again)
No updates were performed around the same time 10.9.2 update occurred (I verified that using Software Update log)
No configuration changes were introduced around the same time
Reverting back to 10.9.1 using Time Machine (thanks god I had backup !!!) fixed the issue
    Steps to reproduce this issue:
In Eclipse, try to use 'Epic' (Perl plugin) to debug any perl script while *not* connected through VPNEpic debugger works
    Connect to VPN
Start Epic debugger to debug same script
Debugger *does not* start, and "Timed out while waiting for Perl debugger connection" error pop-up comes up after some time. At the same time, exception stack (listed above) is printed in Eclipse's console
I am programmer/software developer, I work remotely (telecommute) and thus have to rely on use of VPN to connect to company's intranet. Perl - is primary language used by my team, and we use Eclipse IDE with Epic plugin - heavily. Use of Epic's debugger - is a *very large* aspect of my work, I cannot work without it. So in essense, 10.9.2 has *entirely* disrupted my ability to work! It took me almost a week to get back to normal work environment, and I cannot afford to let it happen again... I need Apple's development team resolve this VPN related issue, as soon as possible! Because of this issue, I am *stuck* with 10.9.1 and can not upgrade my laptop to any other versions. In fact, I had to disable system updates - just so I do not run into this issue again... I contacted Apple's Tech Support on 02/28 with this issue (Ref: 582428110), asking to raise trouble ticket. Since then, I tried to follow-up on that issue, but do not get any information. Please advise on the status:
is there a trouble ticket to track this issue?
    is there any progress?
what's the ETA for an update that fixes this problem?
