Software defined networks

As i am starting with my survey paper on software defined networks(SDN). I need some help with the information where i could find the best materials about SDN.

  • How i can define network printer to report that can use it

    hi all
i want to define network printer to the report
and the format of the printer full name and its port ?
    another question
when i use the local printer it print but there are web opened and contain uncertain
    letters
i want this web to be closed

    Hi John
    Thanks for replying,
My current setup is this, my non apple router is accessed wirelessly by all my computers, ie imac, mac mini and macbook pro, ipad & iphones for internet.
My printer is in another room so therefore I cannot connect the AEBS (airport extreme base station) with an ethernet cable (I have intially in order to update the firmware and other updates) so in following the attached guidelines are you saying that I have to have the AEBS connected with the ethernet cable to the router?
I was hoping to wirelessly connect.
The wish is that all my devices can print wirelessly
What has happened though is that I can access the AEBS wirelessly, but it has disabled me from my router so I cannot connect to the internet neither to that network
    Any other advice
    Thanks
    Regards

  • Kernel panic with Software Defined Radio

I've been playing with a cheap software defined radio dongle (the NooElec R820T based on the common RTL2832U chipset). Sometimes it works, but usually whenever I run a program that uses the SDR, the computer will either immediately throw a kernel panic or simply freeze. I've been using Linux for years and I've never even seen an actual kernel panic until now. Heres a Screenshot.
The problem only happens on my laptop, which is a Lenovo X200t Thinkpad. It does not happen on my other computer, which also runs Arch. It also doesn't happen under Kali Linux on the same machine, so I don't think its a hardware issue.
Heres a link to the thread I made on the RTL-SDr subreddit. They recommended I report it to you guys.

  • Software Defined AM Radio

After becoming familiar with the NI5640R, our team developed a software defined AM radio using a homemade antenna which passes through a LP filter with a cutoff frequency of 5MHz as the analog input to the card.
The host was then reconfigured to have a decimation value of 256 since we were only concerned with a single radio frequency at baseband. The acquired data was then AM demodulated, sent through a digital filter, and decimated further to account for the specifications of the computer speakers. The decimated array was then used to build a sound waveform. Using the appropriate sound VIs, the waveform was played.
We created two hosts which play this waveform--one of which plays it using a finite sample and another which plays it continuously. The finite sample radio simply builds a finite array when the host is started. Once stopped, the built waveform from the collected data is played through the speakers.
The continuous sample radio continuously builds the waveform and plays it while building the next waveform; however, some problems occur here. The processing time used to manipulate the acquired data allows for some lag when the sound is being played. We found this out by playing a normal AM radio at the same time as the LabVIEW AM radio and noticing the delay. Also, not only does the software radio delay, once the number of samples per channel is reached, the radio repeats a portion of the output sound which increases the delay from the real radio even further. Both the delay and the time at which the radio repeats is directly proportional to the number of samples/channel.
Now that we have a better understanding of configuring the host, we would like to do the previous on the fly using the FPGA. This would allow for no delays and faster processing on the host.
We have attached our work up to now. The sample rate of the sound format should be set to 48828.125 Samples/second and 16 bits/sample. If have any questions or suggestions, please post them here.

Take a look at the Griffin iMic <iMic>.  I think it has the USB capability you need, but you may not be able to interface it to the iPad.  The only iPad USB connection is via the Camera Connection Kit.  It may not be possible to use this for other types of data because of Apple's restrictions.
It may be possible to interface stereo audio to the iPad via BlueTooth.  Perhaps you can find an iPad App developer who will help you.

  • Designing Software-Defined Storage with Windows Server – we've got a calculator

Designing Software-Defined Storage with Windows Server – we’ve got a calculator and a doc for thatYou can use this guide and the Software-Defined Storage Design Calculator spreadsheet to design a storage solution that uses the Storage Spaces and Scale-Out File Server functionality of Windows Server2012R2 along with cost-effective servers and shared serial-attached SCSI (SAS) storage enclosures. Storage Spaces is a software-defined storage technology that enables you to virtualize storage by grouping SSDs and hard disks into storage pools and then creating high-performance and resilient virtual disks, called storage spaces, from available capacity in the pools. You can then place Cluster Shared Volumes (CSVs) and file shares on these virtual disks, which in turn host data for your workloadsDeveloped in response to direct customer...

    Hello Marc,
Do you mean than you want everyone have their own personal share folder? And need to limit the folder size?
I think you can use the FTP server function in Windows server.
About FTP, it is recommended to ask in the Windows server forum, the professionals there will be glad to help you.

SCAN IP are on same subnet as Public IP network interface
SSH connectivity is verified on both nodes.

  • Software update - networking error (Mac OS 10.4.11)

    Hi everyone,
I've been having problems running software update on my 867 MHz Powerbook G4. Every time I try to run software update, I get the same message: "A networking error has occurred: timed out (-1001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again."
    I'm using Mac OS X 10.4.11.
My network is running fine, and I've run Network Diagnostics several times fully through to confirm this.
I've tried repairing the disk permissions through disk utility a few times, and nothing's changed.
I tried copying three files from my Library / Preferences folder, along with my Caches folder (after reading that this could fix the problem), but still, software update doesn't work.
I tried running the 10.4.11 combo update for PPC, rebooted in safe mode, and repaired my disk permissions again, but still, no luck.
There's another problem that might be related: Safari can't load pages. Firefox 2.0.0.18 works fine, but Safari doesn't do anything. Also, closing the Safari window (Ctrl + W) doesn't work, quitting the program is the only way to make it go away.
Thanks in advance for the help, it's much appreciated!

Hi James, and a warm welcome to the forums!
To expand a bit on Sig's great advice...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
Also, how much free space do you have on your HDD?

  • How to install All-In-One software with network printer?

I plugged my 7310xi into my Linksys WRT54G router. In Windows 7 64-bit I found the printer, installed the default drivers, and it's printing happily via the network.
But I need to install the HP All-In-One software if I want more advanced functions like scanning to my computer.
Downloaded the software from the web. During installation I get to the part where it asks me to choose how the printer connects to the computer. I select "through the network," click next, and it just keeps on kicking me back to this screen and I can't proceed. Any ideas?
    Here's the error:

I had exactly the same problem with Windows 7 64-bit and HP Photosmart 2610xi. All you need to do is right click on the installation program, go to properties, go to compatibility mode, select Windows Vista SP2 and optionally check run as administrator. It worked after that.

  • Can't software update, networking error, yet internet connection fine

I am trying to use software update, but can't. I get this:
"A networking error has occured: timed out (-1001). Make sure you can connect to the internet, then try again. Software Update can't check for updates because of a network problem."
Yet network diagnostics show everything fine; mail works fine; network utility shows everything ok; wireless connection fine; TCP/IP looks normal; and browsers are fine -- here i am posting.
    WTH?!
I know there are other threads about this, but the questions there are unanswered, even though the threads are marked answered.
    I tried the following:
    1. i backed up using Carbon Copy Cloner, then wiped my HD and copied back. That was ok, but still couldn't use software update.
    2. i archived/installed 10.4, restarted.Some prefs gone but basically ok, couldn't use software update.
    3. downloaded last combo update 10.4.7, and last security update. Quit everything, repaired perms, installed combo update, restarted. Installed security update, restarted.
    4. i reset PRAM.
    5. i checked the disk using Disk Utility. It's fine.
    6. I made a new user account to test. Logged in there, tried software update, same result.
And i still can't use software update.
Someone in another thread wrote that this seems to be in UK and Netherlands. Possible?
    Any suggestions anybody?
    thanks, P

    [home]/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
    [home]/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
This last i am not sure of the exact name, i saw it before, deleted it, but it hasn't been regenerated.
    there is also:
    [home]/Library/Caches/Software Update/
    which has nothing in it;
    and
    [home]/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate/
which has a lot of numbered folders and cache files with names like

    Should i try deleting those?
How do i find out the server name for Software Update btw?
Perhaps i should try plugging that into the SoftwareUpdate.plist?

  • Software updates networking issue

every time i try to update my software,
the bar gets about three quarters of the way and gives me this message
"None of the checked updates could be saved
A networking error has occurred: Cannot open file (-3001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again."
now i have 12 updates needing to be downloaded including os x 10.5.3

I had the same problem when trying to update to 10.5.3. You can download the 10.5.3 update from apple's website, apply it, and see if you still get the -3001 error for the other updates.
