Software distribution error with LMS 3.2 regarding flash/memory size

Hello,
I'm accustomed to LMS raising warnings about memory size not being enough when in fact there is enough space (eg : there is 256mb, IOS requires 256mb, but LMS calculates 255.234mb, and says there is not enough memory). I've encoutered that situation many times with LMS 3.1 and just learned to ignore it.
But since I've upgraded to LMS 3.2, we are now getting _errors_ which are preventing us from deploying the IOS, even though there is still enough memory and flash space. I've read in another thread about bug CSCsu49349 but this one should be fixed in LMS 3.2, so I am at lost.
I always download my IOSes from Cisco.com using LMS so that the proper fields are populated.
Here is one sample : I was trying to deploy an IOS to a 2821 router. The IOS weighs 29Mb in reality and I have around 31Mb of free flash, and the whole flash is 64Mb, but I get a catastrophic error. Also note the contradictory warning about the memory size :
Warning - SWIM1065: Minimum RAM requirement of the selected image: 256 MB .
RAM available on the device ( 256 MB) May not be enough to activate the selected image.
Increase the RAM size for the device, select a different image for upgrading, or
specify the RAM size for the image by editing the attributes of the image stored in the software repository.
Warning - SWIM1070: Feature subset of the Active image could not be determined.
Catastrophic - SWIM1200:Selected Flash partition requires minimum (64 MB) to upgrade selected software/image.
Select a different Flash partition for upgrading the image.
Do I need to modify the flash requirement on the image to get around this, or is there a patch available for LMS 3.2 ?
Thanks for the advice,
Alex.

Hello,
After running another inventory to make sure, I get the same error. Here are the steps of the distribution process (we can see I have enough room for the IOS, barely, but still enough) :
Afterwards I get the failed message :
And the same error message :
Thanks for the help!
Alex.

• Software distribution problem with RME 4.2 regarding flash size

Hello I'm updating the software on about 200 3750 stacks. During the verification process I'm used to get a warning with the messages swim1132,1201 and 1106. But jobs run then successfully.
But sometimes the verification step fails with the SWIM1200 error. That is a litte strange because all the switches have the same flash size of 15998976 bytes.
The error messages are in the attachment.
I woult be very happy, if somebody can give me an advice.

This is CSCsu49349. The bug is fixed in RME 4.3. The workaround is to go to RME > Software Mgmt > Software Repository, then click on the name of the image. Reduce its required flash size down one setting (i.e. make the requirement 8 MB). This will allow the image to deploy properly.

• Software Distribution - Problem with 1921 Routers

Hello everybody,
we are having some weird troubles in our Cisco LMS 4.2
A Software Distribution works fine for all kinds of our Routers, except the 1921 models. We are using SCP and SSH for the Image distribution and the exactly same configuration on a 1841 and a 1921 works on the 1841 Router but on the 1921 not.
I didn't found any Bugs related to this, maybe it's a problem with the lms settings?
Done so far:
- Deleted the device in LMS, added it via discovery and manually, no change here
- Tried with different IOS versions, no change here, no one will work
- Set the credentials after adding the device again, to make sure they are valid
When creating a new distribution job, we get this error at Step 3 of 5 only at the 1921 Router, so I guess this might be the problem:
Warning
- SWIM1056: The method to update the software on the selected storage device is unknown.
Select a different Flash partition, if available.
I attached a SWIM_debug logfile from a failed job. (changed all the DNS names do XXXDNSNAMEXXX).
Thanks for your help

More than USB it could be SCP. There is a know bug for SCP on 19xx router :
CSCuc98074 LMS 4.2.2 Software Image Distribution fails with SCP on 1921 routers
Just try to change SCP to other protocol and see it that works. Make sure you have all device packages updated for LMS.
-Thanks

• Tips for blue screen (BSOD) errors with Windows Vista and Intel Turbo Memory on T61/T61p

Important note: The symptoms and solutions described below address only a small subset of the possible causes for blue screen errors, aka BSOD. This information can help address blue screen errors specifically related to Turbo Memory, but may not solve errors related to other issues. Please read through the instructions completely, make sure they apply to your system, and after attempting the solutions please post back with your feedback for the community.
Some users may experience random blue screen errors with ThinkPad
systems running Windows Vista with Intel Turbo Memory hardware. These
blue screens may occur during normal usage on the system or they may
occur when booting into Windows Vista. Blue screens related to the
Intel Turbo Memory hardware may reference a stop code of 8086 with
memory address locations of {0, 0, 0, 0}.
There are two main steps that you can take to help resolve blue screen issues related to Intel Turbo Memory.
Step 1: Update Intel Turbo Memory Driver
If the driver version is before version 1.0.1.1004-7.0.3.1001, please
update to this version.
To determine what version of the Intel Turbo Memory driver is installed:
1. Click Start, then click Control Panel.
2. Click System and Maintenance.
3. Click System.
4. Click Device Manager.
5. Expand the Storage controllers category.
6. Double-click Intel Flash Cache Logic Chip.
7. Click the Driver tab. Then you will see the driver version (for example, 1.0.1.1004).
The new driver and installation instructions can be found here.
Note: The Intel Matrix Storage Driver is updated with this package.
Step 2: BIOS version
If your BIOS version is older than those listed below, please update to the version listed.
How to check your BIOS version:
Turn off the system.
Turn on the system.
While the To interrupt normal startup, press the blue ThinkVantage button message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen, press the F1 key.
The
BIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed. If you have set a supervisor
password, the BIOS Setup Utility menu appears after you enter the
password.
Check BIOS Version and Embedded Controller Version.
Turn off the system.
System BIOS versions:
ThinkPad T61/T61p (14.1 inch widescreen with IEEE 1394 model) - BIOS version 1.22 (7LET52WW)
Please
remember that these updates do not solve every possible system blue
screen, but they do resolve several problems related to the Intel Turbo
Memory driver.

Thanks Tim,
I do have my T61p fully up-to-date to the latest drivers and updates (via System Update and the Drivers&Software web page when the former is not that up-to-date).
At the moment the most recurrent problem is this:

which has been longly speculated here:

My other angst is the boot-time chkdsk hang-up problem:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=52765&highlight=chkdsk
I just wonder if this purely a Vista issue when using NV cache, the disk spinning down at almost exactly 1 hour from the beginning of the chdsk operation seems too much of a coincidence.
This is my T61p configuration:
Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 2.4GHz
BIOS version 1.26-1.06
4GB RAM 2 SO-DIMMs

Dear Tim,
First off, many thanks for the tips for resolving BSOD with Vista + Turbo Memory on X61. I've been suffering from this BSOD for countless times since I bought in my X61 7673-CW9 in April 2008.
Even prior to having the pleasure to visit this wonderful forum, I followed both steps as indicated, and updated my Intel Turbo Memory driver to 1.5.0.1013 and my BIOS to 7NETB4WW (2.14). However, the BSOD recurrs.
For the past two months, I've recovered my system to factory default settings using Rescue and Recovery for over twenty times, each time with the latest Intel Turbo Memory driver and BIOS. Notwithstanding that, BSOD recurrs.
During these painful experiences, I tried two options: 1) making my X61 up-to-date by using System Update and Windows Update (including Vista SP1 or excluding Vista SP1); 2) keeping my X61 the status as factory default (i.e. without updating through either System Update or Windows Update (the automatic/scheduled update function of both is turned off)). In either case, BSOD recurrs.
I'm 100% positive that the BSOD does not arise from any hardware or software/firmware I install. I never install any hardware (e.g. RAM). And, it is not caused by any software/firmware I install: the clear and unequivocal evidence is that at one time,I encountered BSOD while having restored back to factory setting and booting for the first time.
I live in Taiwan, and I seldom heard this BSOD here. All of my friends (as most of Taiwan residents) using X61 operate in Traditional Chinese environment, whereas I operate in English environment. In Taiwan, when booting for the first time after purchase/recovery, the Windows Vista Business system provides for lanuage choice (Traditional Chinese or English), and, once chosen, the language cannot be altered later on (unless, of course, the system is restored back to factory default settings).
My system specs are the same as the day I purchased it and are listed below (as I'm not sure if my machine type X61 7673-CW9 is applicable outside Taiwan):
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T8300 @ 2.4GHz
Memory: 1.00 G.B.
System: Windows Vista Business (32-bit)
Hard Drive: 160 G.B. @ 7,200 r.p.m.
And, of course, with Intel Turbo Memory 1 G.B.
I contacted the Lenovo support staff here in Taiwan for countless times, but they seem to be clueless. I learned that some friends at this forum downgraded their OS back to Windows XP, but I chose not to. The reason is simple: my purchase price for X61 7673-CW9 includes the Intel Turbo Memory, which cannot function under Windows XP (at least so far).
Therefore, I just wish to share my experience here and perhaps I can get some advice from you and other friends here. Any advice will be tremendously and enormously appreciated.
Kevin Chen @ Taiwan

• Error with first attempts at exporting flash

The first thing I tried when with CS3 is exporting a project to flash... I got an error with this first attempt which was a CS2 project so I made an all new project just to see it...same message - here it is.
a DOS window message...
"OMP abort: Initializing libguide.lib, but found libguide40.lib already initialized.
This can cause performance degradation.
Set environment variable KMP_DUPLICATE_LIB_OK=TRUE if you want your program to continue in this case."
and an error message pop up window that reads...
"The instruction at '0x186925ab' referenced memory at '0x00000008'. The memory could not be 'reead'. Click on OK to terminate the program"
Oh I get it! Yeah no I don't. Anybody familiar?

I called adobe customer support, they are clueless. It is now December (4 months after the first post) This is a linking problem, and the developers are at fault. This is a true bug and not a problem with your computer.
The fix is as follows (windows xp)
Add the environment variable KMP_DUPLICATE_LIB_OK=TRUE to windows to fix it. In other words, do what it says.
1. On the Desktop, Right click on My computer and choose properties
2. Go to the Advanced Tab and click on the environment variables button
3. for the top window (user variables) click New.
4. In variable name enter KMP_DUPLICATE_LIB_OK (all uppercase and include the underscores)
5. In the Variable value enter TRUE (all uppercase)
6. Click ok
7. Do the same thing for second window (system variables)
8. You should not need to restart your computer, just restart encore.
If this does not work for you, you either misspelled the variables, or did not capitalize. If it still does not work for you, you may be out of luck.

I have this problem only when using mic in?ventrilo. If you want to get rid of this problem you need to disable sound enchantements? in sound settings and then its fine, however you lose CMSS-3D with it. But its funny tho, if you disable CMSS-3D in Creative Control Panel you still get this issue, it only works if sound enchantements are disabled in windows sound settings.

• Form distribution error with email client

Hi All-
I have an extremely frustrating problem. I have designed a form in LiveCycle ES 8.2.1 for users to fill out and submit via xml. I would like to use Acrobat Pro 9.1.0 to track and collect responses from this form. When I test the original form, the submit button works perfectly and it opens my email client (Groupwise) attaches the xml and populates the To, Subject, and Body fields perfectly.
The problem comes when I try to use Acrobat to distribute and track the forms. It creates a filed called 'form_distributed' that adds a bunch of code that completely screws up my form submission. When the form_distributed is filled out, and the user clicks the submit button, Groupwise is invoked, but I get a 'Check Names' dialog box that states
"Windows Messaging does not recognize "1. Double-click the attachment".
After I click cancel on that dialog box, the JavaScript Debugger shows:
Exception in line 63 of function top_level, script XFA:form1[0]:p1[0]:Button1[0]:click
RaiseError: One of the specified recipients is not resolvable.
Doc.submitForm:63:XFA:form1[0]:p1[0]:Button1[0]:click
===> One of the specified recipients is not resolvable.
The distributed version has this extra code inserted
< script contentType="application/x-javascript">//@@SUBMITURL "mailto:[email protected]?subject=Submitting Completed Form&body=Instructions to add this form to a responses file:\n1. Double-click the attachment.\n2. Acrobat will prompt you to select a responses file.&ui=false"
and further down....
// submit the form
if (bContinue) {
var rawURL = "[email protected]?subject=Submitting Completed Form&body=Instructions to add this form to a responses file:\n1. Double-click the attachment.\n2. Acrobat will prompt you to select a responses file.&ui=false";
var submitURL;
if (app.viewerVersion < 9.0)
submitURL = "mailto:" + rawURL;
else
submitURL = "mailto:" + escape(rawURL);
currentDoc.submitForm({
cURL: submitURL,
cSubmitAs: "PDF"
});
}
Are these lines of code always inserted when the form is distributed?
How can I distribute and track these responses?
It seems to be reading
"[email protected]?subject=Submitting Completed Form&body=Instructions to add this form to a responses file:\n"
as the first email address and then getting hung up on the body and interpreting it as an incomplete email address.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is this in the wrong forum? The problem I am having is with Acrobat's Distribution feature.

• Problem with Software Distribution in LMS 3.2

LMS 3.2 on Solaris 10
I'm trying to distribute IOS images via Software Mgmt. I'm getting the following error on step 2 - View Recommendations.
"SWIM0087: Recommendation module timed out while waiting for the procedure to complete.
Either the device had many images to process or one of the services used by this application is not responding.
Either fine-tune the administrative preferences to filter out any unwanted images or check the application logs for more details."
We have two LMS 3.2 systems in a master-slave configuration. Both of which were recently upgraded to LMS 3.2 from 3.0. Software distribution is working as expected on the Slave system. It was working on the Master system before the upgrade to LMS 3.2 also.
I've checked all of the administrative settings I can think of and they match on both systems.
Am I missing something?
Thanks,

Without debugs I can only guess but the symptoms you report could be caused by a few corrupted files.
You could try the following as it has solved similar situations.
Move SharedHelpACE.zip, SharedSwimACE.zip, and SharedSwimGSS.zip somewhere outside the CSCOpx directory.
The files can be found:
\CSCOpx\www\classpath\com\cisco\nm\xms\psu\pkgs\rme
As well as:
\CSCOpx\MDC\tomcat\webapps\rme\WEB-INF\lib\pkgs
Then restart the services:
net stop crmdmgtd
net start crmdmgtd
If this proves unsuccessful then replace the files in their original locations.

Did these clients fail to update with any error code?
Almost certainly the above log entry is occurring in combination with an 0x8024400D error code ... a very common manifestation of duplicated SusClientIDs.
The log snippet on the client side would look something like this:

• LMS 3.2 software distribution: no result

Hi,
I have a 3750v2-48PS standalone switch (has been in a stack then removed). I wanted to upgrade its IOS by using LMS.
LMS shows me the following error
When I click on the error, it shows :
Switch has 128MB of RAM. The IOS I want to put into is c3750-ipbasek9-mz.122-58.SE1.bin, which has the following requirements:
FYI, I uploaded this IOS on another identical switch, manually, and it works. This time I want to do it with LMS.
Thanks.

Hi,
Kindly enable the debugging for the SWIM from RME > Admin > System prefrences > log level settings and enable the DEBUG for SoftwareMgmt and ConfigJob and hit APPLY
Now try the job again for one problematic device and wait for the job to complete. Note down the job id.
Kindly share the job id logs from the location :- CSCOpx\files\rme\jobs\SWIM\ -> send me the complete folder of the job id.
Also share the complete screenshot of RME > Admin > Software management > View\ Edit preferences.
Since its stack switch, kindly make sure you are using tar file of image to deploy the images from LMS.
Thanks,
Gaganjeet
