Software download failure - DLL missing

Colleagues,
I have tried to upgrade my Desktop software version 5.0 version 1682 by downloading the 7.1 or earlier software. During the process I get an error message 1723 indicating there is a missing DLL file. How can I solve this problem.
Thanking you in advance.
Bob

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
I suggest this thread:
http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Cleanly-quot-Starting-Over-quot-with-...
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having. Note further that, from your post, I cannot tell from where you obtained the download...the links in that thread are official.
Good luck!

  • Desktop resolution - software download failure

I tried to download the Blackberry desktop software (I have a new Bold) onto my new laptop. It seemed really awkward so I uninstalled it. Now, every time I turn the computer on (new HP laptop) the desktop resolution reverts to minimal (ugly) and when I change it to the high resolution, it reverts again on startup. Can anyone help me to fix the default back to maximum resolution, please?....

  • Tried to download an update. Failed. Now get messageMSVCR80.dll missing. Any ideas

Tried to download an update last week. Failed message. Now get messageMSVCR80.dll missing. Advised to download new Itunes programme. Would this delete all my existing library and wish list? Any ideas

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • HT1923 Hi I have tried in upgrade to latest Itunes version but I keep getting MSVCR80.dll missing notification whats all this about?/ & how do I overcome it

I have tried installing new version of itunes on my pc (windows 7 64 bit) but I keep getting an message saying MSVCR80.dll missing. Can amyone tell me how to resolve this please?

I've just (finally) managed to fix this problem today. I checked the Apple Support forums, and it seems a lot of people are having the same problem.
I rang the Apple Support line, and the very helpful man (thanks Alan!) talked me through it stage by stage. If you go to the following page on the internet: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376   it takes you through the process. WARNING - it takes a little time!
Basically, the first thing you have to do is go to your Program Files and double click on your iTunes folder. There'll be a number of files with the suffix .dll - you need to move all the .dll files from that folder to your desktop - you can simply click and drag them on the desktop..
Next, uninstall iTunes - go to Control Panel / Add/Rempve Programs and when the list comes up remove iTunes. This will take a few minutes... Then reboot your computer.
Next, go back to Control Panel / Add Remove and Remove - IN THIS ORDER -
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
    Reboot again!
Next, check in your Program Files that the iTunes folder is completely gone - if it has, great: if it hasn't, right-click on the folder and press Shift and Delete - it will say "Are you sure you want to completely remove the folder "iTunes"? Click on "Yes".
    Reboot!
Then go to the iTunes download page and voila! It should download iTunes without any problems... well it did for me.... Good luck!

Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

after I-Tunes update I receive an error MSVCR80.DLL missing please reinstall I-Tunes, I did a few times but it is not working

Okay! Thanks for the tip, David. I did what you did too, and that fixed my Apple Software Update thing. I downloaded the latest update using that program and installed using the program, and everything was fixed!
I think it was when I had a problem installing using Apple Updater that began the problems, and installing manually just added fuel to the fire. But now everything's fine! Thanks, man!
