SOftware for compressing, decompressing, encrypting and dencrypting files

Hi, I'm new to the Mac world. I'm struggling to find a software that can open my .rar or .zip password-protected files (created in PCs) and that can create other password-protected either zip or rar files to be used in the mac or pc. I know all about disk utility but that's helpful only for Mac. And i've also read re certain applications that do part of work but don't know yet of any soft that serves as a one-stop shop solution for opening, creating, encrypting and decrypting files. Your assistance would be highly appreciated. thank you

I know nothing about it but have a look at TrueCrypt (http://www.truecrypt.org/). It is a cross-platform application. Have you maybe thought about encrypting a flash drive and using that to store your files? I know it has a portable mode but again, I don't know anything about the program so you will have to look through the documentation.

Whatever it is you end up using, it is IMPERATIVE you stop using the Mac until the rescue is completed.The more the drive gets modified, the greater the chance that the storage area the deleted file used to occupy will get written over, thereby making rescue impossible.

Hi experts
Now customer has the following issue.
XML Publisher concurrent request, using RTF layout template with LOGO, does not generate the LOGO for Excel output.
but in output formats PDF, it is shown normally.
from the debug log, we can found the following error message

so I tell the customer to do the following action plan.
1. in XML Publisher Administrator resp > Administration expand the HTML Output section.
2a. enter a value for 'Base image URI'
2b. enter a value for 'Image file directory'
Customer set the value as following and retest this issue,but he found the issue is not solved.
Base image URI: /u01/r12/ebssnd/apps/apps_st/comn/java/classes/oracle/apps/media/XXSLI_SONY_LIFE_LOGO.gif
Image file directory: /u01/r12/ebssnd/apps/apps_st/comn/java/classes/oracle/apps/media
I verified 'Base image URI' and 'Image file directory' settings:
1) Change output type to HTML.
2) Click the Preview.
but the image is correctly displayed on HTML, so I think the issue is caused by user's uncorrectly setting of the base image URL and/or image file directory
but could anyone give me some advice on which value should be set for Base image URL and Image file directory

First thing to do is to edit the post and use some tags to format the code as it is unreadable and too much!

Next we need to know the jdev version you are using!
As the code is generated I would first try to generate it again after the db change.

Went to update my software for my ipad 2 and it has been stuck on the conncet to itunes screen for hours. Can anyone help?

I went to update my software for my iPad 2 and my ipad has been frozen for hours on the connect to itunes screen. I unplugged it and tried to recover it but it doesn't work. When I connect it back to my computer it says ITunes has detected an ipad in recovery mode. You must restore this ipad before it can be used with itunes.
Can anyone out there help?

These are not support file formats within Photoshop Touch. You could convert to .jpeg or .psd through Photoshop or Corel.

Yes. Unfortunately, I don't know the specifics because I don't use iPhoto anymore and I completely copied over 15 years of MP3 files recently when I installed 10.7. Needless to say, I have not opened iTunes since and probably never will again - not because of iTunes but because of my stupidity. I did have some of the files backed up but I hadn't backed up in a while.......anyway....
When I imported my CD's, I had them go directly to my external firewire. I can't remember exactly how to set it, but in the preference section of iTunes you can specify an import destination to any drive that's available to your machine. I did this with iPhoto as well way back at one point when I was using Tiger, but I don't remember the specifics on that either. I can't imagine they would have discontinued support for that feature since then.

When trying to run an AVI I get a compresser/decompresser note and AVI wont open?

Running premier elements 9.0 and when trying to load an AVI a note shows up saying the file can not be played because the system does not have the required compresser/decompresser installed. I updated the my computer software with the software update but no luck.

Won't iMovie handle the output of the Nikon as a video?

My older Nikon DSLR can generate video output but
that's not what I use it for; so I've not had the problem.
Oh, your iMac is either a G5 or an Intel Mac. Can't be both.
This should not matter much in regard to the question posed.
There may be a good freeware software out there which may
handle the video file type if for whatever reason some normal
default application can't be found to view the video file. The
Preview app in Tiger, etc generally isn't the one for video use.
Can you use iMovie & import new content from the Nikon;
choose to make a new project from the iMovie options?

Compression Master software for compressing

Is anyone using Popwire's Compression Master for compressing their video?
I have it and want to test encode quality vs. Compressor but I am getting lots of internal muxer errors when I build. I have only been able to build one disc of about 3 seconds with a Compression Master encode.....

How to stop even administrator from coping any folder for example "c:\TempFolder" and its files in windows.

I wanted to restrict windows users on desktop machines from coping folders and its files which my web services are pushing for trial purpose. i tried doing it through power shell but administrator of desktop can change the ACL permissions and can make a
copy.
is their any other way available in windows.
i feel at application level its difficult to handle.
the question is "Can we handle it through some kernel mode program like filter driver". if yes could some one please throw some more light on this.

You have some serious challenges here, since you say copying the folder and its files. There is no concept of a
Copy Operation in a Windows file system, all you will see are reads and writes. You stated it would be difficult to handle at the application level, it is worse to handle in the kernel.
Go the http://www.osronline.com and ask this question on the NTFSD list, that is where the file system experts hang out. Before asking search the archives for copy, you will find a lot of explanation on why this
is hard.
You should look whether there is someway to restrict the use of data to a limited time, if these are programs find a commercial copy protect solution, if this is data, can you wrap things such that the data is encrypted unless your application decrypts it

I have updated my ipod software for my ipod touch, and i have lost all my music.

well, i decided to update the software of my ipod, becuase the box that kept notifying me to do so on itunes, became quite irritating. So i clicked update and it said that it recognises that there are some songs on my ipod tha arent on my computer and so it asked me if i want the music to be backed up on my computer and i clicked yes. So it took half an hour to back up everything that was on my ipod. An hour and a half later it then had finished updating the software, and that it was going to restore everything that was originally on my ipod, so i clicked ok. An hour later, it had finished, and so i went on and all my apps were still there, however my music wasnt. so i thought thats alright, i will just manually get the music that had been backed up onto my computer and put it onto my ipod, which i did. However, it only had the music that i had bought from itunes on that specific computer, and not what i had brought from itunes through my ipod. So i thought if i go to teh song on itunes, if i click on teh song to buy and downlaod, it would let me download it again, but however not make me have to buy again, but it made me buy it again, and so i have now lost at least $60 or $70 worth of music, inwhich i refuse to buy again.! becuase this stupid software updating!!!
and i am seriously not happy! if only the music that we buy goes straight onto our account and so that we can access the music through our account no matter what computer because my parents are split up and so i have to use three computers, (one at dads, two computers at mums) and it is really frustrating when i am trying to get a song that i bought on another computer, OR THAT I BOUGHT THROUGH MY IPOD, and listen to it. I am still the same person, same account same everything just on a different computer. i understand that if you put the music onto the account, people can access from heaps of computers and save them to that computer therefore heaps of copying "illegally' etc, but like you do now kind of, you can authorize 5 computers, just please!? it is really annoying and confusing and i am sure many people would agree with me.
i am just trying to give a suggestion and trying to get some help to get my music back and so can someone please help me!?

I charged & tried a different USB and got the same thing, but figured out that if I plug it in and then open iTunes rather than the other way around it recognises the device. Go figure! The playcount still doesn't update though But thanks for your advice anyway!

LR 1.3.1 waiting for non-existing xmp and thm files

I am experiencing a problem where Lightroom 1.3.1 stalls while I am scrolling through larger folders/collections. This happens on some (specific) folders only, but can get to a point where LR becomes unusable.
Trying to nail that down, I used a file monitor (filemon from sysinternals) and spotted that LR is looking for xmp and thm files that do not exist. The reason this is slow for me probably relates to the fact, that this search happens over my local network (because my original photos are on a different computer). Estimating numbers, LR waits approx 500 ms per photo (looking for .xmp, .XMP, .thm and .THM in that time), but only for some photos in that folder.
I upgraded from 1.2 to 1.3.1 and am quite certain, that this was smooth with 1.2.
My catalog definitely doesn't write to xmp automatically. I do in fact not have a single xmp file in any of my directories. In catalog settings I also have the 'Include develop settings in metadata in jpg...' deactivated (what does that btw?).
Anyone experiencing similar issues? Any ideas what I am doing wrong here? Why is LR looking for those files in the first place?

Does anyone else have a setup where the original photos are on a networked machine, and the working catalog is on the local machine where Lightroom is running? I assume this is why I am experiencing long delays whereas 'normal' users just don't notice that problem...

HT2404 I have a 2011 macbook pro 13". I am trying download software for the clear network and it won't let me saying I'm running in a 64 bit mode and I need to change my computer to a 32 bit mode before downloading. Is that possible and how do I do it?

Wow that was really quick, thank you so much. Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it. I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names. isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)
