  • How to design DAQ software for DYNON's ELAB-080 DAQ module in Labview?

We are using DYNON's ELAB-080 DAQ module. How to develope the DAQ software for the same using your Labview7.0.?

    Dear Ajay,
National Instruments doesn't have any drivers for devices that they don't make. The best solution is to get a National Instruments board. However, if that's not an option, a lot of companies have drivers for LabVIEW that they created. Contact DYNON to see if a driver for your module exists. If there isn't a driver, you can always use LabVIEW (Call Library Function Node.vi) to make calls to the driver DLL. Have a great day!
    Sincerely,
    Marni S.

  • Building SCADA software for substation automation control using LabVIEW

Hi, I would be interested to know if anyone has built or developed a SCADA software for substation automation control using purely LabVIEW and its add-on tools (beside NI LookOut). The SCADA software, somehow similar to WinCC, should fulfill basic SCADA function for substation such as monitoring and interlocking control of CB and DS (single/double point), generate event or alarm list which includes information such as topical/not topical, valid/invalid...., archiving, redundancy, etc.

    Hi Remzi,
    Thank you for your information.
I understand that the DSC Module is a tool capable of developing monitoring and control system. Using the module would enable me to build a SCADA software (similar to LookOut) according to my requirement. But I think it's quite a difficult task to design and build a SCADA software from the scatch. Unlike a SCADA software, the DSC module is not really a SCADA software where user can directly parameter the I/O points and graphics via GUI. I've actually tried the LookOut software, but found that it's not really suitable for substation automation & control field. Hence, I would be grateful to know if anyone in this field has developed similar SCADA software for substation automation.
    Best Regards,
    Edmund

  • I need the drivers of EDR Enhanced for LabVIEW 8.6 or more, please.

Hello, I want to acquire a signal with the microDAQ-Lite of EAGLE Technology and I need the EDR Enhanced LabView Driver. The one I have is for labview 6.x or 7. Currently I am working in Labview 2010 so I am needing the drivers for this version. I have found in a webpage (http://edr-enhanced-for-labview.software.informer.com/8.5/ ) that a version developed by National Instruments for version 8.5 exists, it says it is free, but i cant find it. Does anyone knows if a newer version exist? or where can I find the latest one?? Please help.
    Thanks in advance.
    Alejandra

NI does not develop drivers for third-party DAQ devices. Contact the vendor or use the driver you have. You can load version 6 and 7 into LabVIEW 2010.

    Reidl,
Thank you for your answer.  How do I uninstall my current version?  I have looked in "Add or Remove Programs," but I don't see anything under "Xilinx" or "Spartan."  I do see an entry for "National Instruments Software."  However, when I click "Change / Remove" I don't see any entries for the Spartan Board.
I tried running the installation program, and I received the following message:
The NI LabVIEW FPGA Support for Spartan-3E 1.1.0 installation has failed with the following error.
You have a higher version of NI LabVIEW FPGA Support for Spartan-3E in your system.  You must uninstall it before installing this again.
What is the latest version number?  How do I check what version I currently have?
    Thanks,

  • Is it possible to make a driver software for foreign hardwere to see it in MAX?

Is it possible to make a driver software for foreign hardwere to see it in MAX? I have IoTech GPIB controller and a ni style driver but this instrument si not seen in MAX and can not be operated as VISA instrument (it works in LabView by GPIB write or read icon). I think on such a diploma work for student but do not know if it is possible to do. Please send an advise to [email protected]

I don't think that the inability of MAX to see the IOTech GPIB card has anything to do with not being able to use VISA. If IOTech supplied a VISA driver for their card, it should work. I would contact tech support at IOTech to see if they can't find a solution to your problem.

  • I have developed one application software using Labview 8.5 in which i am collecting data from 5 temprature controllers on serial line.

I have developed one application software using Labview 8.5 in which i am collecting data from 5 temprature controllers on serial line.
This software is done and successfully installed on customer side.
Now the customer want this software to be run on server and some fixed number of clients should access this with some login security.
Is this fascility available with National Instruments in which i can installed this standalone application in server and allow some clients to access this with
    proper login?
    Regards,
    Vaibhav

Yes, that is possible. Multiple clients can access the VI using Web Publishing tool and control the VI operation. However, only one client has the control of the VI at one instance. The client needs to right click on the web page displaying the front panel of the running VI and ask for control and then release control after the execution to let other clients to ask for the control subsequently. The LabVIEW VI needs to be running upon the server computer since closing LabVIEW also closes the Web Publishing server and disconnects the currently connected clients.
    Please check this link http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/3797
You might want to create a stand alone executable for the same and then publish it over the internet for access by your desired clients. In that case, check this link http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/3A0087DBE9D31F9286256B19000A2DAE?OpenDocument

  • Is there a decompiler for LABView v4-v6

    Hello,
One of our customer (Pharma industry) has a compiled LABView application running on Win98 for +10 years. The source code is not available and it seems nobody knows what's under the hood. Based on Win98 dates, I expect them to run a LABView version between v4 and v6.
Is there a decompiler software, any ways to look at the source code or to retrieve some basics information to start reverse engineering.
    Thanks for you answers!
    Alex
    [email protected]
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

The whole issue is a little bit more complicated. Before LabVIEW 8.6 the internal executable resource was indeed a LabVIEW VI archive (LLB) and since LLBs have only one hierarchy depth it is basically like a single directory. This caused troubles with the newer LV library based instrument drivers and also LVOOP classes which use the same VI name but with a different library prefix each, so that LabVIEW had to move those files to external directories when building executables, in order to avoid naming collisions.
In all newer LabVIEW versions the internal executable resource in which the VIs are stored is in fact a ZIP file by default. You still can force LabVIEW to use an LLB format to store the files, by enabling the "Use LabVIEW 8.x file layout" in the Advanced build options. Now the ZIP resource was in the beginning stored as simple ZIP formatted data resource and that caused some problems since most ZIP utilities simply scan a file for the ZIP file header and open it as such, even if the actual ZIP file resource is anywhere inside the file, so that almost all ZIP tools could open a LabVIEW executable. NI changed that format so that ZIP tools can not recognize it anymore.
Now, yes you could look into the LLB and ZIP resource in the past (and still can with some extra effort) but before anyone screams "Ohhh my precious IP is on the street" please be aware that the only thing you can do from such a resource is to get the VI names and if you manage to load it into the exactly right LabVIEW version drop the generic icons onto a diagram to see the connector pane. Unless of course you also check the "Enable debugging" checkbox in the Advanced build options, which will leave the diagrams and frontpanels in the VIs, and in fact create something similar to a packed source distributions.
So without the Enable debugging build option, someone gets in fact not much more than what he can do by opening any binary DLL created from C, C++, or whatever mainstream compiler with the dependency tool from Microsoft and MUCH MUCH less than what you can get by simply putting such a DLL through a disassembler.
And to my knowledge there does not exist any disassembler like tool for LabVIEW VIs so far, and I would consider about one billion things more worthwhile to do than attempting to create such a thing.
