Software freeze

Hope someone has an answer
I just installed Leopard the other day and have had nothing but problems. I like some of the new functions but I am having problems with programs freezing. The program freezes and can not close or even force quit. Most of the time I can restart and go on but sometimes I have had to hard boot the computer. ( I feel like I'm working on a PC and that is bad) I had none of these problems with Tiger and if I can't get this working better I'll have to go back to that software. Hope someone has an answer.

I have had this too, at first it was when I had itunes and Safari running at the same time, but now since I upgraded to Leopard, Time Machine freezes about 80% of the time when I look at it. (I almost lost all my data doing the upgrade, so I am fascinated to check that it is there...when I open Time Machine, I crash). So far nothing about it in support, and I can't get it to repeat while I am working with Apple Care.

Blackberry Desktop Software freezes at message "Action Engine Loading Configuration"

I have Windows 7 Professional. My Outlook profile is saved on an Exchange server and my Blackberry had previously beeng syncing with Outlook in this setup for nearly a year without issue.
Recently, the desktop software freezes at "Action engine loading configuration" message and is unrecoverable. I have tried the following things to rectify the situation:
1) Adjust the organizer settings not to sync anything except the date & time. Still happens
2) Delete all data from the device using Desktop Software and try to resync. Same problem
3) Uninstall and reinstall Blackberry Desktop Software and try to sync with both the original set of data and the empty, deleted data Blackberry. Same problem.
4) Tried wiping the blackberry completely using JL Cmdr, reinstalling the OS. In this scenario I can sync Addresses but once I sync Calendar the problems happens again and I am unable to ever sync it again (Including thereafter when de-selecting the Calendar option.
At this point I have spent hours scouring Google for help and trying the above items. This has been disastrous for me as I rely on the sync'd data for work and have already starting missing things.
I don't believe there is anything wrong with the Blackberry, as it works fine and works perfectly well after re-loading a fresh, OS, etc.
I have tried playing with the support logs but because the software freezes before calendar can sync, nothing is in the log that states if there is a corrupt record in calender causing this. Nothing dramatically changes in my calendar between the day that syncing worked and the day it didnt.
I've tried searching the Blackberry forums and have found some info but nothing helpful. RIM does not provide support telephone numbers and AT&T support has continuously demonstrated itself as worthless over my time with them.
Is there any resources left at all that I could try to get past this issue, not waste any more time, and be able to resolve the issue?

I had a Dell PalmPilot type device in 2003 that sync'd contnously with my computer using ActiveSync. I didn't ever have to click Sync, I would make a change on either device and they would sync.
The fact that it is 2011 and we still work with Desktop Manager, the biggest piece of **bleep** software I still have to use, is simply pathetic.

BB Desktop Software freezes

The desktop software freezes when it has synced 476 of 707 records. I have removed and reinstalled the software again-and-again, I have used another computer to try to sync with the same results, I have run a full virus scan (Kaspersky), I have sent-in the phone for repairs and nothing. It still freezes at the exact same spot. Someone please advise!

Afraid Compressor won't work with MKV. If you have access to a system running an earlier version than Mavericks, and with Perian installed you can use MPEG Streamclip or Quick Time Pro to convert to a mov.

If you already accepted the Fios Bundle Terms then I wouldn't worry about completing that software install.
Unless you want the Verizon toolbar and Help & Support bloatware.

After Lion update sometimes softwares freeze

I upgrade to Lion before two weeks, and I see that some softwares freeze when you want to open it, or close it. Sometimes iphoto, or Adobe products freeze.
Last night, when I shut down the computer, it waited 20 minutes, and not shut down.
Does anybody experience such things after Lion upgrade?

Hanging finder, software freezes, lack of console clues, Genius befuddled

For several weeks I have been experiencing the following problem:
- A given program will freeze -- generally, this appears to be a browser or an SSB like Fluid or Prism.
- At first, I will continue to be able to navigate around to other programs, and usually can even save documents and shut programs down. At some point, however, the entire system will freeze up.
- This usually occurs when I try to close down the program that initially froze up. For instance: Let's say I have 2 Firefox windows open, each with 2 tabs, and one of those tabs freezes. After a period of still being able to navigate between tabs and windows, the whole program will freeze. I'll then try to do a force quit, either via the dock or the Apple menu icon. This invariably fails.
- It has also occurred several times when I've put the computer to sleep by closing the display -- upon re-opening, this entire process begins.
- Shortly after that the Finder freezes up and I need to manually force the computer to shut down. This is especially problematic when I have an external drive connected.
- When this occurs I'm unable to launch Terminal to kill any troublesome programs by the kill [PID #] command.

In at least one forum -- which I now am having trouble finding -- there was a reference to difficulties with USB connections. I have been experiencing intermittent problems with USB connections to external mice and keyboards. This is generally solved by disconnected and reconnected several times.
_I've taken a wide range of steps to try and solve this, including_:
Totally reinstalling Snow Leopard from disk.
Trashing all my Fluid apps (through AppDelete, so I know everything is gone from preference panes, etc)
Trashing Fluid
Trashing Chrome
Trashing Google Quick Search Box
Trashing and reinstalling Quicksilver
Turning off GeekTool
Removing the FireFound extension in FF and updated the Adobe plugin in FF.
Trashing the Launch Services preference file
Removing GrowlHelperApp, WeatherDock, MagiCal, and Precipitate from Login items.
Running Disk Utility (nothing showed up as being a problem).
Cleaning User Cache.
Cleaning System Cache.
Removing temporary files.
Flushing DNS cache.
I've also tried running Activity Monitor fulltime -- and didn't notice anything odd there.

After going through much of the above I made a Genius Bar appt. The Genius knew far, far less than I did about Macs, and I don't know much -- all I've done is poke around the Interweb. He didn't know what an SSB was, hadn't ever heard of Fluid or Quicksilver, didn't know it was possible to run scripts on the desktop via Geektool, etc. He essentially told me to run Disk Utility and if that didn't work to hope everything turned out alright. That was infuriating enough; what was even more frustrating was that he clearly hadn't spent any time whatsoever poking around Apple discussion forums so he could keep up on any ongoing issues. It was like when I brought in my iPhone because the update to iTunes 3 killed off its ability to pick up WiFi signals and drained its battery.

The Creative Cloud Software Freezes & Crashes my Computer!

Hey! I installed Creative Cloud yesterday after deleting a lot of junk from my Laptop to make sure I have around 100GB free on my HDD. I also defragmented my laptop and did a speed test & everything seemed to indicate my computer was more than qualified to run Adobe Creative Cloud.
However, every time I open the desktop application it'll work for between 1-10 minutes and then my laptop will freeze. The screen stays on, but I can't move my mouse or anything, meaning I have to hold down the off-button and try again. I've rebooted, reinstalled the software from Adobe several times, and I'm still getting the same problem. I don't have this issue with any of my other software?
Help please! I spent a ton of money on it and I want it to work. x

"Restoring iPod software" freeze on iTunes?

When restoring iPod software on iTunes, on my 4th gen iPod, it goes all smoothly until the progressesion bar (at the top) appears to freeze near the end. No amount of time solves it. Any idea why this is?

Following Troubleshooting security software will frequently resolve this issue. This issue can be caused by the default packet size being set incorrectly. There may be third-party software installed that modifies the default packet size in Windows by inserting a TcpWindowSize or MaxGlobalTcpWindowSize entry into the Registry. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance in adjusting this TcpWindowSize values. Typically the default packet size is modified by 3G cellular network card software, ISP communication software, or Internet speed download optimization software. There are legitimate reasons to change the TCP/IP packet size and not use the Windows default settings (for example, network traffic optimization, home/broadband optimization, enterprise app optimization such as database apps, Exchange, and more). Deleting the "TcpWindowSize" or "GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize" entries in Windows Registry could affect the system's performance with other apps or on their network connections. Deleting the customized TCP/IP settings may require the reinstallation of any third-party applications that had modified the TCP/IP settings from the Windows default settings.
There are two ways to resolve this:
You can follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) , or follow the steps below to manually find and remove TcpWindowSize and MaxGlobalTcpWindowSize entries from the Registry.
For Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7: Go to the C:\Windows folder and launch regedit.
Go to Edit > Find.
Search for "TcpWindowSize" entries. There are typically multiple entries of TcpWindowSize/GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize spread throughout the entire Registry. If "TcpWindowSize" exists, one or more third-party applications have changed the user's default Windows settings for TCP/IP.
Go to File and select Export. This step will export a copy of the Registry that can be used as a backup of the original settings.
Delete the "TcpWindowSize" entry.
Search for the next "TcpWindowSize" entry and delete each one until the Registry no longer has any "TcpWindowSize" entries.
Close Regedit, restart the PC, and test.
If you are uncertain as to why these registry entries exist and the PC is a business computer, contact your network administrator and determine what values TCP/IP can be set in their Windows Registry setting so that the PC can update or restore an iOS device rather than deleting the "TcpWindowSize" entry.
If editing the registry does not resolve the issue, restoring on a different computer that did not install the communication software is the step most likely to resolve this issue.

The software freezes and I have to restart the program again.

I have no problem with the software while I'm actively using it. But if I leave it for a couple of minutes it often freezes and I have to restart the software. This is a real problem as I often work with this software all day and have to restart it many many times during a day.

I'm opening a thread for this problem because I posted it on someone else's and it was overlooked. I plugged in my ipod to a friends computer after updating her itunes software. i was afraid that her itunes would sync with my ipod (i dont know why) and then itunes seemed froze so I ended its process with the task manager. After that I didn-t turn itunes on again and I transferred music from my ipod to her computer using Ephod (or some like that)
THe next day everytime i plugged my ipod and turned itunes on the sw would freeze. the same ting happens in every computer i plug my ipod to.
also, when i go to videos, i see a list of all the songs i have in my ipod. when I finally can locate a video file it will only play the sound... but not the video.
i have tried reinstalling itunes. i still havent tried restoring my ipod, but as i dont have a big drive to put store all my files i was wondering if there was something else i could do

Alright, for the video problem, you need to make sure that TV out is off. Go to Videos-->Video Settings-->TV Out-->Off. Now see if your videos play correctly. See here...

Now, for the larger issue...
I'm not sure why the iPod would be freezing iTunes on multiple computers. I would recommend putting the iPod into Disk Mode and then restoring it. A restore will not delete music on your computer, only music on your iPod. And, as a reminder, it is generally illegal for you to give copyrighted music off of your iPod to someone else or vice versa.

Sudden software freezes

I have suddenly experienced freezes in my Quicken account and in my business (Creative Memories) order pages after updating Mac software (Apple Remote Desktop Client, iTunes, & iPhoto. How do I resolve these conflicts? I do not know if the updates have relevance to this issue, but the freezes have occurred since the updates. Should I spend $ to call Apple Care (expired a month ago), or can someone help me?

Try using Disk Utility to do a Disk Repair, as shown in this link, while booted up on your install disk.
You could have some directory corruption. Let us know what errors Disk Utility reports and if DU was able to repair them.

Software freezes up on Windows XP

I cannot open Blackberry Desktop Software on my Windows XP PC anymore. It used to work but freezes on startup. I have uninstalled it and deleted the RIM folder and previous backups and reinstalled without success. I assume I have a conflict or problem on my PC as the software works on another Windows XP machine at work. Any ideas on where to start?

Here's what seems to be going on...
Any software I've installed myself works fine, but everything that came with the computer or operating system does not, including my disk utility. I can launch the application but it just freezes and I have to force quit.
The research I've done indicates I need to do a software reinstall from the disks (4 of them) that came with my emac and/or that I need to reinstall my operating system (10.3.9).
My understanding is that, with the system I'm on, there's no way to pick and choose which applications to reinstall -- I have to be prepared for my entire hard drive to be wiped out.
This is a bit alarming...my only backup system is on CDs. I have no DVD drive or external drive. I tried using a backup system through Amazon web services with Jungledisk but am having all kinds of glitches with it (including not being able to access what I think I've uploaded).
I realize I'm looking for cheap and easy and neither of those things may be possible, but one can always hope.
1. How do I know which applications are on the software reinstall discs and which are on the operating system?
2. Do I have to reinstall both the software that came with my emac and the operating system?
3. Will the procedure really wipe out my hard drive?
4. How do I back up relatively painlessly? Some of the instructions I've read leave my head spinning...
I'd be ever so grateful for your help.

Could be an issue with the wxtra RAM. Remove the added RAM, and see if the problem persists.
