Software include with MBP

What versions of the software come with your MBP? Eg, what version of omnioutliner? comic life? etc
Thanks

This is what Apple says. I don't know if this specifically answers your question.

I have an HP Pavilion g7-1070us notebook computer with Windows 7 as the operating system.  The computer is a year and a half old and has never had problems.  The recovery manager software included with the computer gave me an option to delete the recovery partition on the computer.  I used to recovery manager software to delete the recovery partition from the computerr.  Immediately after the recovery partition was deleted, all sorts of problems developed with the computer and Windows eventually crashed.  I have attempted to reinstall Windows with the recovery discs I created with the recovery manager software on the computer.  When I attempt to reinstall Windows with the recovery discs, I get the following error message screen.
"Windows failed to start.  A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.  To fix the problem:
    1) Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
    2) Choose your language settings and then click next.
    3) Click repair your computer.
If you do not have this disc contact your system administrator or manufacturer for assistance.
    Windows Boot Manager
    File:\Boot\BCD

Info: An error occured while attempting to read the boot configuration data."
I have no system administrator as this is a single home computer.  This computer is not connected to any computer network.  No hardware or software changes were made to this computer for months prior to this problem occuring.  No other indication of any other problems were observed prior to the use of the recovery manager software on the computer to delete the recovery partition.  I sincerely regret using the recovery manager software to delete the recovery partition from my computer now.

    Hi,
Assuming this is just a problem with the recovery media, here's an alternative option you could try.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create an installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the exact same version that originally came with your notebook - if your not certain, your notebook is listed as coming with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available.
    Windows-7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

Any additional drivers and software you may need can be found Here.

  • Should I install the Kaspersky Internet Security Software included with the purchase of a new MacBook Air, OS X.

Should I install the Kaspersky Internet Software included free with the purchase of a new MacBook Air OS X?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You mustn't. Apart from the fact that OS X doesn't need an antivirus (OS X has got its own security systems), commercial antiviruses like Kaspersky can do more harm than something good for your Mac. See > http://www.reedcorner.net/mmg
If you want to install an antivirus, install Sophos or ClamXav

  • Was there software included with the old style Cinema Displays?

okay, so I recently bought a 17" ADC LCD Apple Studio Display from its origional owner. I got the ADC/DVI converter to use it with my Mac Mini, so all I need now is the software it came with initially that the display was manufactured with to avoid wierdness from waking from sleep and using the onscreen button to controll the Mac. unfortunately the owner had lost the discs.
so this is where this post comes in, I've scoured the Apple Support site looking for this software, but with zero results.
anyone know where to get their hands on this stuff? the monitor is a 15" ADC LCD Cinema Display. any help would be super awesome!

    Hi
As far as I'm aware the displays and adapter didn't come with any software. I've bought a couple of the old style Apple ADC displays in the past (and DVI to ADC adapters more recently) and can't remember receiving any software with them.
Using the adapter, the brightness button on the display should bring up the Displays system preference, but the power button will have no affect.
What wierdness when waking from sleep are you getting? That doesn't sound normal.

  • Can't connect to the App store, iTunes and software update with MBP 13

    Hi,
I have a MBP 13 from 2011 and I have a really annoying problem with connecting it to the App Store, iTunes and the software update. It claims that I have no internet/wifi/network, although I clearly have it since I am watching series through Netflix and are on Facebook at the same time. So naturally I started to look in to the firewall and it works fine, since it does not and has never blocked any other Apple products/programs. So I continued looking everywhere in the computer, found nothing. And finally I decided to re-install the MBP and I still cannot connect to neither of these programs.
I feel that it is really unnecessary to hand the MBP in for service for a problem like this, so I was wondering if there is someone out there who has a solution to this problem? Beacue , as I mentioned earlier, my internet/wifi is working perfectly with everything else, so I really do not understand why App Store, iTunes and the software update does not work.

    Hello there, Victoria Nisoho.
The following Knowledge Base article should be of use for your issue:

  • Muvee software (included with 2TB Canvio Connect) will not download & install

When I run the setup.exe in the root of my Toshiba 2TB Canvio Connect USB disk drive, I switch to the "muvee Reveal" tab, then click on the "Download" button.
It prompts me with a panel that says "You are now leaving Canvio Installer and will be redirected to a special muvee website.", I then click on the "Continue" button and nothing happens.
Any ideas? If anyone has successfully installed it can you please email the URL to me.
I assume the "special muvee website" is a page with a version of muvee Reveal that accepts a Canvio serial number as an unlock code or something similar.
    Thanks for your help
    Dale

My device came with folders containing install software for NTI Backup EZ, PogoPlug PC, and a Mac NTFS driver.
It also had in the root directory a "Quick Reference Guide.pdf" and "Setup.exe" to install the software. Setup.exe has four tabs, the last being the "muvee Reveal" tab.
The "muvee Reveal" tab has the "Download" button which prompts me with a panel that says "You are now leaving Canvio Installer and will be redirected to a special muvee website.". But when I then click on the "Continue" button nothing happens.

  • Printer Driver for Epson Stylus R800 Printer Included with OS X 5 Leopard

How many faulty drivers may there be included with OS X 5 Leopard?
After installing OS X 5 Leopard I found that when using my Epson Stylus PHOTO R800 printer photograph prints and ordinary lettering were extremely feint and unusable.
From the list of printers installed with OS X 5, as given in Apple "K"base Documents, I checked the version number of the driver for the Stylus Photo R800 and it was given as "SPR800 3.09 app"
I next checked the latest driver specified by Epson on their website---it too was given as
    "SPR800 3.09 app".
Despite this information I downloaded the "SPR800 3.09 app" from Epson and installed it and the problem was solved.
I am writing this to inform others that despite the driver included with OS X 5 being specified as
    "SPR800 3.09 3.09" it certainly is not!!!
The only answer is to use the latest version provided on the Epson website.

    Dear scb
Many thanks for taking the time to reply to my post, you are so right in your remarks.
Although I've been on Macs for around 25 years I hadn't come across something as blatant as this before---maybe I've been lucky!
Your comment regarding the avoidance of software included with the product is very relevant particularly at the present time, so soon after the release of OS X 5 Leopard. There must be thousands of printers and the like which are being sold right now with software applicable to OS X 4 Tiger included with them.

  • ITunes online v. iTunes included with iPod

Are there any benefits with installing the iTunes from the software including with my iPod versus downloading it off the internet? Does anyone know?

The disc in the iPod box may have been sitting around in the store for months.
Download from internet, save to your hard drive, and run the install from your hard drive.
Make sure to turn off security software during the install. Norton esp has been screwing up iTunes installs, blocking it like iTunes is a bad program and not even asking the user whether it should be allowed or not.

  • Software included w/ iPod Video

    Hi all,
I'm just wondering if anybody would be kind enough to tell me if the software included with the new iPods is the latest version of iTunes and the iPod Updater - or will I have to download them to get the latest?
Thanks in advance for the info.
    Ryan

I got a new ipod video (60g)and itunes put all my pictures from my harddrive, but I can't see them on itunes other than at the right hand corner, it says I have 774 pictures. So, how do I change the pictures. Also, when I try to put music to the slideshow, the settings won't turn on. I was wondering if it's done in iphoto WHICH I can't find in itunes. Sorry for the venting.
    Any ideas????

  • What software is included with the MBP 2009?

    Hello All,
Am setting up my new MacBook Pro which I brought home from the store yesterday. I used Migration Assistant to transfer my data and existing applications. iLife apps appear to have been replaced with newer versions, but I've found no trace of an iWork trial, MS Word trial, Comic Life, Omni Outliner... no Quicken, games, demos, etc.
So I'm wondering what's included and where it's located...
The computer came with 2 DVDs: Mac OS install DVD and Applications Install DVD.
On the Applications DVD, if I select customize install, I see:
    -cpu help files
-iPhoto (grayed out, cannot be selected)
    -iMovie (grayed out)
    -Garage Band
    -iWeb
    -iDVD
    Should there be another DVD?
Where is the complete iLife restore software located?
Should there be a remote unit to use with Front Row, as is the case with the iMac Intel, or is that not included with the MBP?
    Thanks

Quoting from the MacBook Pro page on the online Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shopmac/family/macbookpro
    Included software
Mac OS X Snow Leopard + iLife
Every Mac comes with the world’s most advanced operating system, as well as iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, and iWeb so you can do more with your photos, movies, and music.
The Apple Remote is not included.
iPhoto and iMovie may have been grayed out because they were already installed. Those two apps plus GarageBand, iWeb and iDVD constitute iLife.

  • Mini DVI to VGA incorrectly shipped with MBP instead of DVI to VGA

Has anyone else had a mini DVI to VGA adapter shipped with their macbook pro (2008) instead of a DVI to VGA adapter? I just needed to use it today and was told at the apple store that I had an adapter included with the computer. I went home to check and the adapter that was with the computer was a mini DVI to VGA adapter and the computer has a regular DVI output. I understand that later in 2008 the mac book pros were made with the mini DVI so I am thinking that there may have been a packaging error.......unusual for Apple???

    Hi Tingrin,
Most likely an error when the machine was packaged for distribution. The MacBook Pro has never shipped with Mini DVI, it was a dual link DVI port until they went to Mini DisplayPort. The MacBook, however featured the Mini DVI.
I know Apple has ceased to ship the adapters with the MacBook Pro, to my knowledge they did around the time of the mid/late 2008 machines. I know with the first couple of generations (MBP) you actually got both a DVI and VGA adapter.
I'd contact Apple, inform of the discrepancy and I'm sure they'll make it right.

  • I have 3dparty software wirelessly with a cryptographic authentication system without my consent (seems to be new technology developed by stanford) obtaining ownership of my iPhone 4s software and controlling it with remote device to jail break. Now what?

I have 3rd party software wirelessly injected and used on my iphone with a cryptographic authentication system without my consent (seems to be new technology developed by stanford and apple security is not updated for this technology) obtaining ownership of my iPhone 4s software and controlling it with remote device to jail breaking my phone, adding and removing software, changing settings all from a remotely controled device from different location (I have a Mac address I'd of this device to know for sure). Almost undetectable. When I look at the legal section of my phone it shows a list of all the unauthorized 3rd party software "as is" copyright encrypted on the phone.  This is the most basic way to legally steal software of any kind.  Because of this legalality 3rd party ownership have total control of certain software correlated with hardware use including visualization technology, etc.  most people luckily will never have this happen to them so it's unlikely many readers have not a clue of what I'm saying currently.  Either way, without needing to obtain specific warranty of any kind "as is" copyright control makes system restores not a solution because the source code is not directly encrypted on the actual hardware device only a copy right notice must appear on the specific device 3rd party software validation making it extremely difficult for me to take control of the situation. Apple claims their iOS technology prevents this type copyright obstruction from being possible, however, according to my phone a new form of technology was used developed by Tom wu of Stanford university called the STANFORD SRP AUTHENTICATION TECHNOLOGY which uses Some form of cryptographic authentication system and uses quote "secure remote password" which seems to suceed in hacking iOS apple technology apple claims is not possible to jailbreak an unstolen phone or without the owners consent As well as loading the device with 3rd party copyright Notices to make all of this legalized. My phone shows atleast 30 pages worth of legalized 3rd party copyright permissions! Yesterday my apple care provider labeled me a jailbreaker and refused to look at my legal documented proof which completely blew my mind because it voides my apple care contract I spent 100 on. This employee did not take all factors into consideration and made quick assumptions as well as verbally speaking to me as I'm an automatic criminal. I left the store yesterday with no payed insurance help on a problem I had no control over and couldn't prevent, leaving with voided contracts. This is an apple users worst nightmare and I have spent days researching all of this like i am some kind of lawyer only to be able to use my phone the way it should and spent alot of money on.  I can legally backup any claim I have just wrote above currently and have a large source of data collected to prove apple is wrong in voiding insurance support on this issue. The problem lies in apple avoiding and not wanting to believe their software can legally be obtained ot "hacked". Yet still labeled a jailbreaker basically.. What should I do????? Been to local apple store 3 times and rebooted my phone as well sprint service restore 4 times and spoke with reps twiice on the phone. Spoke with my phone provider who said apple has full control over these matters so they can't help me.  My case is according to apple "still open"...Anyone else heard of this or of Stanford's office of technology licensing? Maybe I need to buy a blackberry again or just use a landline so I can stop being my own lawyer and focus on other productive areas in life instead of this horrible mess. I shouldn't have to prove to apple I not a jailbreaker they should have to prove I'm one before voiding support I desperately need!!

Yes, I think most of us do understand what open source software is. It sounds as if you don't. Here's some information:
Open-source software (OSS) is computer software that is available in source code form: the source code and certain other rights normally reserved forcopyright holders are provided under an open-source license that permits users to study, change, improve and at times also to distribute the software.
Open source software is very often developed in a public, collaborative manner. Open-source software is the most prominent example of open-sourcedevelopment and often compared to (technically defined) user-generated content or (legally defined) open content movements.
    from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_source_software
Yes, Tom Wu of Stanford wrote a paper on something called Secure Remote Access Protocol. It's a form of Asymetric Key Exchange and has nothing to do with hacking anything. It's actually intended to protect data.

Depending on what your needs are, you may use Pages included in iWork or purchase it separately (usually there is an evaluation copy with any new mac, I guess) or try other publishing apps. I once used MS Publisher, I remember it was something like a more sophisticated word processor, right?
You may try the cheaper DTP iCalamus or Word for mac.
