Software install problems

Hi,
When trying to install software for a Tungsten E2 it expects to install on the C: drive.  For whatever reason, my drive is F: (there is not a C: drive available).  Does Palm have software that will allow me to select the directory location to install the software to?
I'm running Windows XP.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forum.
The Palm Desktop software will not install on something other than a C: drive.  However, this Palm Knowledgebase article discusses a means to substitute the letter C: for your drive:

Good luck.  Let us know if it works for you.

    Hi
Running 11gr2 install on VM with redhat linux 64. Grid install was okay, however database software install hits this error during prereqs check.

    Hi,
    Had the same issue.
The problem was that /tmp was mounted with the 'noexec'-option (although I specified a different temp by setting the variable TMP, which works fine, except for this issue):
    # mount|grep /tmp
    /dev/mapper/vg00-tmp on /tmp type ext3 (rw,noexec,nodev)
I solved this issue by remounting /tmp with the 'exec'-option:
    # mount -o remount -o exec /tmp
    # mount|grep /tmp
    /dev/mapper/vg00-tmp on /tmp type ext3 (rw,nodev)

  • Dutch iMac tray loader software install problem

    Hello there.
I've got a near mint, boxed, tray loading iMac that I acquired for a collector friend of mine. It was originally sold in Holland and has a Dutch version of OS 8.5 installed. Not speaking dutch I cannot work out whether I can change the language within the current install.
Also I have been unable to install an English version in it's place. I have an appropriate English set of discs for the right model but when I put in the software install disc it says it cannot mount an image to install the software. When I put in the software restore disc it says the hard disc is locked and tells me to quit. I'm not familiar with this early type of iMac, my first iMac was a slot loader and that was a long time ago so I am at a loss as what to do.
My friend is coming to collect it tomorrow and I promised him I could get an English copy of the OS onto it. It's midnight here. (doh)
Can I install a copy of OS9 over the top? I have the discs (OS 9.1 I think) from my original slot loader.
Rapid solutions will be gratefully received !!
    Cheers, L2K8

    Hi Kenichi,
    You read my mind !
I didn't start from the disc last time so was just trying that when you posted. I get further in the process if I ignore the 'no destination' message and it starts to install then stops saying 'No destination chosen'.
I have the original Dutch 8.5 discs and a set of original English 8.5 discs from a trayloader but they all stall at the choose destination point. There is no disk available to choose.
Can I erase the hard drive from one of the install discs in the optical drive like you can with disc utility on OSX ? Maybe that would override the locked disc problem.
    Cheers, L2K8

  • 0404 USB Software Install Problems

Just purchased E-Mu 0404. I plugged into USB & p.c.recognised it OK. After software install, p.c. hung on reboot so I had to crash it! After reboot, p.c. hung at registration so had to crash it again. Decided to start a fresh so removed programme & drivers & tried a new install. Flash window starts it's preamble OK with country & language, but as soon as it gets to the install section I get the message "Drivers have previously been installed on this machine without re booting. Please re boot & try again" Every time I reboot I get the same message. I've tried downloading new software but the same thing happens.
    Can anyone help

Sound like there is something left over in your windows registry from the messed up install.
Surest way to fix it is to back up all your important data, format your OS drive, and reinstall windows and the 0404 drivers
If you're not willing to do that, you can try to manually remove every instance or trace of the messed up EMU drivers from your registry by trying the following:
click start-> run-> type in "regedit" and hit enter/ok. Inside regedit go to edit -> find -> and type in "emu" and hit search, delete every instance that shows up, and hit F3 to continue searching after each object is found.
also make sure all the files/folders are removed from your "Program Files\Creative Professional" folder
    HOPE THAT HALPS

  • HP 6500 Software Install Problem Scanner

    II use Op sys Win8.1.
I have trîed installing, reinstalling, using the deinstall utility tool before reinstalling and all recommended actions and cannot get the scanning to work. I continually get the message     c\users\eric\appdata\local\temp\7zs4ffa\hpslpsvc64.dll
Access is denied  evry 15 minutes whist the computer is the location with hp 6500
A HP 6520 at another location work fine.
Does anyone have a solution ?

    Hi @efktd,
I see by your post that you are unable to scan on the Windows 8.1. You keep getting the message "message c\users\eric\appdata\local\temp\7zs4ffa\hpslpsvc64.dll". I can help you with this.
It is possible that it might be caused by file corruption or Admin rights.
Change the folder options of the Admin users account settings to show all hidden files folder.
Windows 7 & 8 - Show Hidden Files and Folders.
To grant access to the folder, log into the one of the accounts where the pop up window occurs and navigate to that path, and double click on the folder. You will be prompted for the Admin users password to grant "permanent access to that folder". Click yes and the problem should be resolved for that account.
If you are still having issues, then uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Perform a clean boot, turn of Microsoft Services and Startup programs. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Hold down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box, type %temp%.
Delete all files and folders from the temp folder. Choose skip if any pop ups appear saying any of the files could not be deleted.
Then run the download so it extracts again to the temp folder. Close out the installation.
    Open the temp folder again.
Open the folder starting with 7z. (Example: 7zS2356)
Right click and run the setup with Administrative Rights.
    Test the printer and scanning.
Go back and turn on the Microsoft Services and Startup programs.
Please provide in detail the results if you are still having issues.
    Have a nice day!

  • MSI PVS Software Install problem

    Hi,
I'm having a problem installing the MSI PVS software...When I start 'SETUP' the Intervideo PVS screen starts, all activity stops for about 4 seconds, and then an error message appears: 'Setup can't continue, RPC call failed / RPC can't start' (rough translation, original message is in Dutch).
    Anyone seen this before ?
Other software installs without a problem, no viruses (Norton Antivirus Latest edition and updates), no Blaster worm related RPC thingy. Blaster removal tool couldn't find anything...
Radio part and soft works fine, WinDVR3 demo version installs without a problem...and TV part is functional. No remote functionality though.
Any suggestions to get the original soft working ?

  • Software install problem

I recently installed a dictionary program onto my Storm.  The program loaded fine, but it requires a data folder for access, and when I attempt to copy the folder to my SD card. I get the message  "The file "*.txt" may be copied to the device for storage or transport use only.  It is not supported for use on the device itself.  Do you wish to copy the file to the device anyway?"
If I answer "Yes" the file copies, but is not accessible, and if I access the media card later, the folder is not there.
I tried enabling the "Mass storage" option on the phone, and the folder copied without any message showing up, the folder, was on the card when I accessed the card, and the files were in the folder.  Nonetheless, the program cannot access the folder, and says the "*.txt file does not exist" .  However when a re-enabled the mass storage option after I re-attached the phone to my PC, the folder is still on the media card.
By the way, my version of the Blackberry desktop software did not come with the Roxio Media Manager software, so using that as an installation mode is not an option..
I am running XP Pro, current on SR's, and I am using "My Computer" to access the media card on the BB Storm while it is attached to my computer.  I am copying the extracted folder from the desktop to the card.
Any insight would be appreciated, Thank You, Gary

Had same problem with 10.7.  I've followed all the suggestions I can find, restored my computer many times, cleaned the registry... this is the worst software install I've ever seen!

I kept getting the reminder to update itunes  11.1.4 on my Windows 7 laptop.  I now forget the error message other than it would stop and say something that itunes has stopped working and to do a manual d/l from itunes.  That did not work either.
The suggestion to remove the Apple Software Updater from my programs solved this problem.

  • Flashing question mark/software install disc problem

    Hello,
I'm getting the flashing question mark at reboot. I've followed these steps:
    a. Insert the Software Install disc that came with your Mac.
    b. Restart the computer and immediately press and hold the C key to start up from the disc.
    c. When you see the Installer screen, choose Open Disk Utility from the Installer menu.
    d. Select your hard disk volume in the left pane, click the First Aid tab, and then click Repair Disk.
    e. When it's finished, restart your computer.
HOWEVER, when I restart my computer it STILL reads/loads from the install disc (as opposed to just booting from my hard drive). It's like a endless loop I can't get out of. Am I doing something wrong?
    Any suggestions?
    - Davey

Hey ,  Welcome to the HP Support Forum.  I see that you're unable to install the drivers for your HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fnw Color MFP.  I'd like to work with you on this.  I have some suggestions that might result in a viable setup.   Try the following steps:  Clear Temp Folder:  Open the Run box by pressing the Windows + R keys'.  In the box that pops up type %temp% and hit enter. When the Temp folder opens select Ctrl + A at the same time on your keyboardOnce everything is highlighted in the Temp folder select 'Delete' on your keyboard to delete the files within the Temp folder. No files and folders on your actual computer will be removed. This will only delete Temporary files. If a file is still be used by a program on your computer you will get the pop up to 'skip' the item.Once the Temp files are deleted close the windowOn your Desktop, right click on the Recycling Bin and select Empty Recycling BinNext, run Microsoft Fix it.  Click here to install.  This utility might solve the install problem.  I also suggest updating the printer's firmware.  Connect your printer to the PC via usb (if possible) and click here to complete the firmware update.  If none of these steps are helping, you can do a selective start up on your PC working directly with MSCONFIG to try and determine what, if any Windows service or program is interfering with your ability to install the drivers.  Here's how:   Click on the Start menuIn the 'search programs and files' box right above Start, type msconfig and hit enter on your keyboardWhen the System Configuration Window opens click 'Selective Startup' and uncheck Load Startup ItemsClick the Services tab. Check the box at the bottom for Hide All Microsoft ServicesSelect Disable AllSelect Apply and OKRestart your computer when promptedAfter you reboot, try the install again.  If you're able to finish the setup we can safely assume there is a background program or service on your computer blocking the install. You will need to enable one service at a time on your computer to locate the program that's blocking your printer from printing.   Here's how to undo the above-noted MSCONFIG steps:  Click the Start icon.In the 'search programs and files' box right above Start, type msconfig and hit enter on your keyboardWhen the System Configuration Window opens click 'Normal Startup'Click Apply and OKRestart your computer as prompted.  Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post.  If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below and clicking to accept this solution. Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.  Have a great day!

  • No disk burning software installed warning

My 12 year old Granddaughter needed some help with her iPod and a disk burning problem. The iPod was a snap, she probably knows more about it than I do! But the real problem is how I may have installed Panther on my old iMac 400DV which she now uses. When she wants to burn a CD from iTunes, the blank CD shows up fine ( including on the Desktop ) but she gets a warning that she can't burn the CD because there is "no disk/c burning software installed"!
Is it possible that I could have installed Panther and not installed the needed pieces to burn a CD?
I know I burned CD's in OS 9 before I upgrade the OS and gave her the iMac. Is it possible that the version of iTunes in her version of Panther is the problem? I don't know exactly which version she has of iTunes, but I see many posts here about 6.0.3 fixing burning problems. I'm using a plain jane 6.0 version in Tiger with no problems.
I just need to know what pieces to update/fix. As you can imagine, burning CD's for ones family is a big problem for some 12 year olds!

You are totally correct, I discovered that after searching Apple spec sheets. I suppose that is why I bought a firewire CD burner! [headbash] Since I gave all the hardware ( iMac, scanner, etc, ) to my Granddaughter, I don't have it sitting here in front of my nose! So I'm claiming that and my age as the reason for the question!
And it was not custom ordered. Similar to my brain which is also the 'stock' model. Problem is, there are too few connections or too many bad 'cells'. Perhaps they need a faster refresh cycle, also.
Anyway, thanks for the answer. hope you got a laugh at my forgetfulness.

  • Logic Studio Install Problems

Purchased Logic Studio a couple weeks ago.  The first set I recieved would not install correctly and it errored out several times regardless of how I went about installing it.  Contacted Apple Support and they indicated I may have a bad set of disks so I returned my set and recieved a new set yesterday.  Install problems continue but now different.  Orginal set woudl load a coiuple of disks then error out.  This set will laod the install disk then when asked to insert the Audio Content 1 disk the computer will spin th edisk around a few times the spit it out.  Tried several times and even tried inserting other content disks.  I've read some of the conent here and some mention a possibel bad DVD Drive but I do no think my DVD Drive is the problem since after trying the Logic Studio set I successfully installed FrameForge.
When I attempted to install the first set of disks last week I was able to select all the options, SoundTrack Pro, Mainstage, etc.  On this set my SoundTrack Pro option is grayed out and I cannot select it to load.  I read here last week, when the first set would not load, to remove everything associated with Logic Studio and try again, which I did.  Is it possible there are remneants remaining somewhere on my system that is disallowing the SoundTrack install this time?
    My system config is:

Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048MB
