Software Inventory Configuration

We have Zenworks for Desktops 7.0 SP1 installed on Netware 6.5
SP6 server.
Some weeks ago hot patch 6 had been installed. Probably after that
we can't access Software inventory configuration: --> Manage
Unidentifed Software --> Edit button from Properties of our
Inventory Service Object in ConsoleOne.
When we try to push on this button ConsoleOne not open this choise.
From one of our computers wit older ConsoleOne version we also received
message (The database is beeing upgraded. Please try after sometime), when
try to push this button.
For the time being all other services of inventory working fine.
We using latest ConsoleOne version with latest Zenworks snapins instlled.

  • Software Inventory and Reporting Services Seems Broken..

    Some basic info...
Server 2012, SQL 2012, SCCM 2012 R2. All products up to date. Enviornment has been running for about 2 weeks, with all the test clients being brought in a few days after server install.
I went to run the report "Computers with a specific product" two days and when I went to select my product, there were no values, as if the inventory process wasn't working. I verified in client settings and also saw that hardware inventory data
was coming back. I can run any of the hardware related reports and they have data.
I did add a couple inventory classes (Installed Executable & Installed Software) to see if that would help, but it did not. I've forced policy updates and run inventories again, still blank. Looking at InventoryAgent.log, it appears everything looks
good. I see the 4 software classes reporting back.
There is probably something simple that I'm missing, but I can't found out what that is.
Edit: Forgot to post the InventoryAgent.log file... http://pastebin.com/AkTWQurp

This goes back to the basic definitions of what the two different types of inventory actually do. Software Inventory is actually a file inventory and by default in 2012 collects *nothing*. To have it collect information about exe's, you would add *.exe (preferably
scoped to just C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files (X86)) to the software inventory configuration. This enables ConfigMgr to gather data from the PE header of the exe files which in turn is used for the report you called out (and others listed as Software
    Inventory).
The question though is do you truly want information about exes or do you actually want information about installed applications? Just because an exe exists does not mean an application is actually installed. That's where Add/Remove programs information
potentially comes in. Information in Add/Remove Programs is *not* collected by Software Inventory though -- as mentioned Soft Inv collect file information. ARP data is collected via WMI by Hardware Inv in ConfigMgr. To get this info, use one of the reports
that lists info from ARP. This is collected and is available by default.
ARP isn't the end all be all either and that's where Asset Intelligence comes in. AI is a layer of intelligence on top of Hardware Inv that collects additional details and adds reports that takes the raw ARP data and combines it with other evidence to give
you better information about "Installed Software". The AI reports are conveniently under the AI folder in the reports. AI is not however enabled by default so you must enable it.
Finally, even AI is not perfect because, as we all know users aren't actually the only bane of our existence but so are vendors who do non-standard things. That's where third-parties like BDNA come in come that provide even better interpretatin of the raw
    data collected by ConfigMgr.

  • Hardware and Software inventory data shows blank in SCCM 2012

    Hi All,
I have this issue. When i try to view the inventory data for hardware and software it shows blank data. Below is the screenshot of that. Mine is a lab setup and i have only 2 clients configured.
I am using the default client settings which comes with priority of 10000. I altered the inventory setting to pull .dll and .exe files with changing the interval. But still the same issue. I analysed the InventoryAgent.log and found the below error on both
    the clients.
    Inventory: 1 Collection Task(s) failed.
    InventoryVersionNumber for '{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000003}' not found.
    CInvState::CheckInventoryAgentConfig: Get() failed: 80041002
    Can any one please help.

    Hi Garth,
A reboot just fixed the issue on that system in which the options are not coming to run the setup manually.
As i had hibernated the VM's and the server in which those options were not coming is the physical box hosting the VM's (SCCM server and one more client). The physical box is also acting as a client and the SQL server holding the SCCM Database.
Now things which need to be troubleshooted are:
    1. Why is it Hardware inventory report appearing after running the setup manually and not appearing automatically.
    2. The software inventory report is not appearing at all even after it is being run manually.
Below is the screen shot of the default client settings policy i am using.
    Software inventory:
    Hardware inventory:
My LAB setup is as follows:
SCCMSVR.labtest.com  - Is the SCCM server and Fail back status point, Asset intellegence sync
    point and etc.
Server.labtest.com - Is the Domain controller, SQL server
SCCMTEST.labtest.com - A testing machine to push the client and to deploy patches in it.
    Site code is LAB
Grath - What do you suggest is the next Plan of action which you suggest ?

  • User can't access detail Hardware/Software Inventory

What right or permission do I need to give so that a user can access the detailed Hardware/Software inventory of a computer? I don't want them to be able to add or modify computer properties.
It's currently grayed out for the user.

  • Software Inventory in SCCM 2012

We have successfully modified SCCM software inventory to compare the deployment result to a webfarm.
However, our issue appears to be that the total row of data gathered is increasing every time the scan is done.  Is this because the SCCM is repeating and keeping the same scan data as new entry in the database ?  Or, is it that the scan was not
complete last time it ran and it is continuing to pick up from where it left off since last time it scanned ?
What is the logic in keeping the scanned data ?

Without your query no one can answer this question. It would be a guess at best.

I have found a person who has a driver software to connect Labview with a general PCI card. But he says that i need to download a freeware software from NI website to configure the PCI card. But you have mentioned that freeware is for GPIB boards. Is it correct ?? Is there any other way out ??

I would ask the person who told you about the freeware software to help you find exactly where it is. I am not aware of any freeware software for configuring motion PCI cards but maybe the person you know might be able to help you locate it.

  • Normalize Software Inventory

We use SCCM 2007 R3 in our environment. Enabled Asset Intelligence Six Months ago.
However, Count of all instances of software registered with Add or Remove Programs report still has lots of Duplicate and garbage data.
Is there a report, which can provide the normalized Software Inventory report which lists only Licensable products rather than all the freewares.
I would require the report with following information.
    Product Name
    Vendor
    Count of Installation
    Licensable (Y/N)
    Please help.

    Hi,
No, there is no such report that filters out freeware, I am sorry to say. You woiuld have to do that yourself. The  Count of all instances of software registered with Add or Remove Programs isn't cleaned up when you enable asset intelligence, you will
get additional reports and the possibility to import your licenses.

All Assett Inteligence reports are listed here:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg712316.aspx
There are a couple of 3rd party products just for this reason, from BDNA, 1E and Snow Software for instance that provides you with this capability.

  • Is it possible to query software inventory report for Oracle SQL developer installation?

    Hi all
My company requires to generate a report of all kinds of Oracle database access tool. I can find Toad installation from Add/Remove Program and therefore can query for Toad.
However, Oracle SQL developer is using Java. I cannot see an entry for Oracle SQL developer from Add/Remove Program. Is there a way to query inventory for Oracle SQL developer installation?
    Thanks a lot.
    Regards

You might be able to use software inventory to report on the version of sqldeveloper.exe.
As the app looks like just a zip you extract to a custom location that might be one method.

  • CMS Transport Load Software Component Configuration

    Hi All,
We have done the Development SOAP to RFC scenario. We are trying to move the chages to QA system through CMS transport, we did't find the SC in Add SC, for that we have updated the CMS and tried to load SC configuration while doing this we are getting
    Load Software Component Configuration
Enter Name of SC configuration file
Last month i have done one created one track at that time i did't get this type of message.
could you pls suggest me what i need to give here.
    Thanks,
    Venkat

    Hi ,
With in the CMS ,you need to add your Software Component from which you need to transport the Repositiry Object.
Software Component Can be added from Landscape Configurator of the CMS.
    Hopes this helps.
    Thanks,
    Madhu

  • Software Inventory in 2012 very slow

Hi, like many other people, I've noticed software inventory running much slower than in 2007. Various people have said its been assigned a lower priority, and also have given the opinion that its not a useful feature..
However, in my environment, I have been tasked with finding various media files on machines (mp3, avi, mkv), and submitting report to higher authorities so they can then ask the people in question if they need to be using so much disk space for personal
material, and if they are legitimate copies etc.
Software Inventory seems perfect for this. However, if you are scanning a computer for a few file types, even excluding the windows directory, you are looking at more than 6 hours.
Do people have any other recommendations on how to go about this task, or how to improve the Software Inventory process/speed?
Unfortunately people don't always place music file in the music folder, and video file in video, so if you want to find this stuff, you have to do a wider search.

Your observation is correct, there has been changes made to how software inventory is running in CM12 compared to CM07.

  • Rebuilding / reinstall of Leopard, looking for a software inventory tool

    Hi,
I have been running A iMac from a tiger install then upgraded over the past 2 years and looking at doing a reinstall of leopard. However I want to make sure I don't loose any of my paid applications and there keys.
Is there a software inventory tool that will tell me what is installed, and possibly the install. EG windows belarc advisor use to provide this type of info.
Also when I do the re-install will the bootcamp partition be effected.
Is there a URL providing tips on doing a machine rebuild, as I couldn't find one in the discussion groups.
    Thanks
    Chris

    O. OK. I would suggest waiting for Snow Leopard, but if you want to rebuilt now....
Go to the Apple on the top left of your screen, and select About This Mac. Select More Info. In System Profiler, on the left, scroll down to Software and select Applications. It will give you a list of every Application installed. You can click on one to get more info. If you want to keep this report, go to File > Save and save the report to the destination of your liking.

  • Using Adobe's SMS Rporting Tool kit - Software Inventory

I’m using SMS Reporting tool kit  ver 4.0, with SCCM 2007 R3.  Is there a newer version?
    1. How long would it/should it take for SCCM to query 2500 systems in SCCM for Adobe SWTAG files? The current scan has been running for about 3 hours now.
    2. Will the SWTAG scan pick up more recent Adobe CS5/6 products?
    3. I added SWTAG file collection in SCCM software Inventory.  Inventory has run on many systems, but I cannot run a SCCM query to locate systems with these files.  Does anyone have a SCCM query to find these systems with SWTAG files?
I have looked on other Adobe/Microsoft forums with little success.

I have seen you have posted around the web about this. This forum is for Adobe Business Catalyast, their website CMS system.
Like others have said to you - I have also never heard about this.
You have the adobe file tagging which iuses SWTAG - http://blogs.adobe.com/oobe/2009/11/software_tagging_in_adobe_prod_1.html
But I know nothing of SMS reporting tool etc. What ever that is you need to contact the vendor for it.

  • Last Software Inventory Date old

We a some machines where the Last Software Inventory date is very old but the HW Inventory date is current.  Is there any step by step documentation on troubleshooting this type of problem?

    Hi,
Have you enabled Software Inventory in SCCM 2012. (Administration – Client Settings – Default Client Settings / Or whatever Policy you want to use)
Meantime, you have to enable the required Classes for the Inventory.

  • Software Inventory Report Filtering

I am needing to run a software report to only show Office 2007, but any computers that were upgraded to office 2013 spiceworks will still show on my report.  I have tried to filter out does not contain office 2013,  I have even tried to filter out the product keys but no luck.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Peter,
    Thanks.
I set 7 days interval for simple plan(hardware inventory),1day interval for software inventory.
But it seems not work now.
    Hey, I am back
First I recommend changing both of these. Hardware should be set to daily and software should be set to every 14 days. Keep in mind that software inventory os almost never used anymore and I has too much over head.
