Software Inventory in SCCM 2012
We have successfully modified SCCM software inventory to compare the deployment result to a webfarm.
However, our issue appears to be that the total row of data gathered is increasing every time the scan is done. Is this because the SCCM is repeating and keeping the same scan data as new entry in the database ? Or, is it that the scan was not
complete last time it ran and it is continuing to pick up from where it left off since last time it scanned ?
What is the logic in keeping the scanned data ?
Without your query no one can answer this question. It would be a guess at best.

OSLM ENGINEER - SCCM 2007 & 2012Hi Friends,
we are deploying the SP1 via SCCM 2012 , and the success rate is around 50 %, its a Light touch installation where user will initiate the installation via Software Center ( Web based )
i was able to gather few errors , and this are the errors which failed during SP1 Installation 0x800f0828,
some errors which sccm reports display are
11171
10008
10021-
17031 -
1602 - User Cancelled installation
113 - No more internal file identifiers available
10070 - File handle reference is no longer available
10050 - A socket operation encountered a dead network
11170 - The task sequence manager could not successfully complete execution of the task sequence
i could not find the reason for some of the errors, also i am looking for a fix/woraround if any
Also i have noticed that in few computers the task seq failed at a place where after the sp1 installation a reboot happens and then PGP BYPASS utility is uninstalled, it did not start the PGP bypass uninstall after reboot
is there a way to cut short the Task seq and keep it simple ?
right now its like this
1. checking for prerequisite : checks for OS Name and OS version
2. installs PGP Bootgaurd Bypass
3. System Restart
4. Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
5. Final Restart
6. uninstall PGP Bootgaurd Bypass

Client not receiving the software update FROM SCCM 2012 R2
We have SCCM 2012 R2 installed and configured for SUP.and i have synchonice the SUP with WSUS server in the same which is there in the same machine.
Now i can able to deploy the software update from SCCM 2012 R2 without any erro to the windows 7clients, but client side when i check there is no update installed in the clients , but seems there is no error in the client logsHi,
I'd start with running a "Software Updates Scan Cycle" from the configuration manager control panel applet and check the log file Windowsupdate.log, WUAhandler.log.

How would I rollback or remove a problematic software update using SCCM 2012?
How would I rollback or remove a problematic software update using SCCM 2012?
Primarily I'm thinking these patches would be Windows Vista/7/8 OS patches, but would include other Microsoft updates as well (eg. Office, etc.).
Thanks,
BillHi,
You need to uninstall it using software distribution like a package/program, here is a script that can help you with the uninstallation.

Understanding background work for software distribution in SCCM 2012
Hi Team,
1.I want to know site to site communication for SCCM 2012.. and
2. want to know about package transfer to secondary site or content share background process.
3. In many of the content share server 200 package out of this 90 still showing inprogress.. I checked distribution point but no error.. I checked conponent status " saying xxx001 package processed.
Can some one answer this three question?Hi,
Configuration Manager uses file-based replication to transfer packages between sites in your hierarchy.
Reference:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg712701.aspx#BKMK_File_based
The blog below is talking about the Site to Site Communication in SCCM 2007, but it can help you understand the process of packages transfer to secondary site.
Understanding Site to Site Communication in SMS/SCCM
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/steverac/archive/2010/07/16/understanding-site-to-site-communication-in-sms-sccm.aspx
You could check Distmgr.log and sender.log to get more information. It should take some time in order to transfer so many packages.

Joyce

RPC server is unavailable when trying to download software updates through SCCM 2012
I have read plenty of articles concerning RPC server problems and non of them seem to relate to this issue. I have been trying to set up my CM 2012 server to deploy software updates and I am to the point of just needing to filter the updates, download
and deploy them. When I try to download the updates from the internet, I get an RPC server unavailable error and it closes. I have checked the RPC service and all of its dependencies, verified that it is looking for a correct microsoft update service
point, disabled my firewall and opened all ports on the firewall just to verify that it wasn't that, and ping tested a few other external sites (aka: Newegg.com/google.com) to see if I could get replies (which I did).
Not really sure where to go from this point. Anyone else encounter this before or know how one might fix it?

Hi,
Have you enabled Software Inventory in SCCM 2012. (Administration – Client Settings – Default Client Settings / Or whatever Policy you want to use)
Meantime, you have to enable the required Classes for the Inventory.

SCCM 2012 - Task Seq - Install Lenovo AMT software - Failing with 2147500037 (80004005)
Hi there
Wondering is anyone has had any issues installing Intel Management Engine 10.0 software via a SCCM 2012 task sequence?
We have a number of older laptops which we build via a Windows 7 task sequence from SCCM 2012. As part of the install each laptop gets the appropriate version of the Intel ME software. All well and good.
We now have a new model to build (Lenovo T440) and for some reason the latest available version of Intel ME 10.0 software keeps failing in the task sequence with a 2147500037 (80004005) error.
This can mean different things but often means a permissions issue. Not sure what the permissions issue could be.
This software is installed at the same stage as previous versions of the same software are installed for older laptop models. Same install command too, SetupME.exe -s as per the document which comes with the software (in previous versions it is Setup.exe
not SetupME.exe but don't imagine the different file name is the problem).
I will try an older version but really we want to keep up with the latest available versions.
Anyone had problems installing this Intel ME v10.0 software via a SCCM 2012 task sequence?
Best regards
JohnDoes the install provide any logging? Does execmgr.log show any other info?
Per the readme, it should be setup.exe.

How to remove the parent-child software update point in sccm 2012 sp1
I have a CAS , Primary site server(1) and secondary site servers (7). I have software update point installed on CAS, Primary server and Secondary site servers as well.
I have a situation to reinstall the software update point which is in primary site server.
So, How to reinstall the software update point in primary site server since this is located in the middle between CAS and secondary site servers.

>> please suggest me, do I have to do anything special apart from the normal steps to uninstall and reinstall the SUP point on primary site server?
I just tried to reinstall the SUP on the Primary site(only one SUP on Primary site and there is a SUP on Secondary site). The SUP upstream data source of the Secondary site showed empty and greyed out. But the upstream data source resumed after a while.
It seems nothing special needs to be done.

SCCM 2012 - Project 2010 Standard deployment failed with error 1603
Hi everyone,
I’m in the progress to roll out a software deployment via SCCM 2012, it’s to remove the current Project 2010 Professional we installed and reinstall the Standard version. We got a task sequence for the job, which is Reboot>Un-install Project 2010 Pro>Reboot>Install
Project 2010 Std.
The Un-installation process uses this command: setup.exe /uninstall PrjPro /config "PrjPro.WW\uninstall.xml"
The Installation process uses this command: setup.exe /adminfile project_silent_install.MSP
But the deployment result is quite random, some of the PCs would succeed without any issue, some of them with fail at the installation process with 1708/1603 error. As far as I know we use standard Win 7 64bits SOE across the environment, so everyone should
have same system baseline.
I reviewed some of the failed Project 2010 Standard installation logs as it shows the following:

Can onyone enlighten me what's went wrong, and why did I get this inconsitent installation behaviour?
Thank you very much!!!1603 means there is a fatal error during installation process.
Take a look at the article below. It may help on finding cause.

updating item, anyone knows what is it?
