When I got to Software Manager on my TouchPad I have the options of selecting Apps and Other. When I go to other it says "You have no services installed." What services can I install? What is this other category for?

  • Software Management Tool

    Hey everybody!
I just want to know, if anybody would also prefer a management tool for the software in the mac. 2 years ago, I used Linux. It has a management tool for the software. So you can install software easier from the web and updates for EVERY INSTALLED software can be seen in this tool. You haven't to start every tool to update. Just open the software management tool and take a look if something new is availlable.
I am interessted in your opinion.
    Thx

It's not a typical Mac way-to-do ... Some months ago i've heard something about a project but it's not useful because many applications as AdobeCS3 for example needs their update clients to patch apps.
So what use of a program that search updates and notify you if there are something new but it can't update your apps?
On Linux what you're talking about is very useful because of many daily updates (for system or for apps), you can install applications from Synaptics (ubuntu) and track their updates.
Usualy Mac programmers use to add a module inside their products (located under program name on the right of apple menu) that search on app launch for updates.
If you need only System Updates they are automatic , go to Apple menu and choose Software Update
    for some options.

  • Ciscoworks Software Management

Does anybody knows the steps involved on Ciscowoks Software Management when upgrading and IOS?? Does the old IOS is erase and then the new IOS loaded? or Not erase until the newer version is in?
    Or how does it work?

It depends on the parameters you select when running the job. You can have it erase first, or you can just add it and add boot parameters.

  • Additional software manages deployment of applications

I'd like to utilize "Additional software manages deployment of applications"  option in Client Settings (using SCCM 2012 R2).
Need to write a SDK to manually kick off the deployment for certain collections with a 24/7 business hour and zero maintenance window.
Anyone has ideas or if a class is available to do this?  I need the ability to start the deployment on individual machine one by one and not entire collection.

    Hi, katiedonut.
If your intent is to immediately start a deployment then the 3rd party deployment facility activated by that setting may not be appropriate as it is basically an entire replacement of the whole Application/Updates facility within the client.
That seems a bit heavyweight for what you're trying to do.
You may be better served by having a scheduled task or listener service that runs on the client that can invoke the installation methods in the root\ccm\clientsdk classes (these are also what Software Center uses) if you have a time sensitive need to
    run something right away.
If you do need to go the native 3rd party client route that the "Additional software" setting enables you'll need to work with an account manager or CSS as we don't publish this on MSDN.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

  • Scourge: Macrovision Software Manager

    Hi there,
My new Curve 8900 is great, but I am very unhappy that RIM has included the "Macrovsion Software Manager" in their tools desk, which installs itself, unasked, when installing the Blackberry software.
This disgusting program is an irritating resource hog that imbeds itself on your computer and, like some virus infestation, resists every attempt to uninstall it. It can't even be removed by the Windows Install Clean-up utility. Such invasive software is obnoxious and I can't believe that RIM which makes fine products would use employ such programs. Their human "software manager" should be taken to task.
RIM, please DO NOT use such garbage software in your otherwise fine products, and
Please do let me know how I can get rid of it!
Many thanks for anyone who may have some insights to share. I've googled the issue and there are many people with similar complaints but I've yet to find an effective solution. Apparently, RIM does not seem to be jumping in with any help, either.

I can't see that happening initially after you start the laptop. After being powered on, laptop has to make it through the BIOS power on self test to get to the Windows login screen. That is (BIOS) firmware first and then software, like the operating system and other programs. Do you mean after you login to Windows?
From what I have found online, Common software Manager is something that some software makers add to their programs related to updates. One such example is Dragon NaturallySpeaking, which is reputed to have been then cause of "Common Software Manager" popups like you have described.
Try turning off updates to programs you have installed made by other than Microsoft or HP.

My Desktop Software Manager is hanging when I try to sync my blackberry with outlook. It was working with XP, but I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and now it is not. I have the latest version fully updated and I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software. Anyone know how to fix this issue? Thanks.

Hello doctork91 and welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Do you get an error message during the sync or does the progress bar not seem to progress and no data is being read?
Can you provide the Outlook version you are using, the Desktop Software you are using as well as if your Windows 7 is 32bit or 64 bit?

  • Does apple provide enterprise software management?

    Hi there,
Does Apple provide software for enterprise management.  I have worked with BB 10 and Air-Watch.  however before we go spend money on 3rd Party tools, I was interested in knowing whether apple might have something like this under the covers...
    regards,
    KimO

Apple provides Apple Configurator and profilie manager ( which is part of osx server)
along with DEP which may or may not be available in your country
DEP is basically the pre enrolment of your devices for your MDM VPP etc rolled into one
VPP allows the purchase and management of apps
There are also free MDM solutions such as Meraki

  • Switch Software management

    Hi,
I am in the process of developing a System to monitor the components on the Printed circuit boards in oven,It s a basically a failure analysis of the components such as C's,Resistors and Capacitors.
The following is an overview of my test system
The test system should monitor the components on the PCB 1 year.
I would like to measure the Resistances and Capacitances using an LCR meter to identify the failure. Failure of the Resistor is identified with a Open circuit and a failure of the Capacitor is identifed with a short circuit/open circuit.I have 420 capacitances to be measured and I would like to automate the measurement using NI Multiplexers.
I have to monitor the first Capacitance (C1) for 3 mins ( which would be connected to the first input of the multiplexer) , followed by second for 3 mins and so on. Once all the 420 capacitances are monitored , the loop should start again from Capacitance C1.  I would like to know how to program the NI 's switches. Could someone please suggest me how to go ahead with this.? Is Labview good enough to automate the switches or should I go ahead with a switch management software ? Can you please explain in detail as am a newbie to Labview ?  Looking forward to your response. Thanks in advance

Hello there, 2nF approaches the territory where we need to consider the parasitic capacitance in the cabling/modules/etc.  For example, the multi-conductor LFH-200 cable that plugs into the PXI-2575 specifies 25pF/ft nominal parasitic capacitance with a single-ended signal, versus 15pF/ft nominal with a 2-wire signal. There's also internal capacitance from the switch, your test harness (anything that plugs into the LFH-200 cabling), etc.  With a 1-wire system, all DUT capacitor minus terminals are connected together all the time, which means you have a bunch of additional coupling locations for additional stray capacitance... wherever you have a stray path from any of the minus leads back to the particular channel under test.  For example, you could have coupling back through each capacitor's power supply back through the DUT's power supply and then into your measurement, etc.  With a 2-wire system, both the plus and minus are switched, which greatly reduces the number of venues for stray parasitic capacitance.  You might be able to get away with a 1-wire system, but my concern is with 420 channels your parasitic capacitance could approach your DUT capacitance.  If the parasitics are constant, you could compensate out the error, but I still recommend a 2-wire solution.
NI HW definitely allows synchronization between DMM/Switch using external triggering, but in your case I recommend just using SW API calls: "switch: connect CHn" "dmm: take measurement y times" "switch: connect CHn+1" etc.  Synchronization is a method to measure as fast as possible, whereas you're taking measurements over a period of hours with a required period for each DUT... with HW synchronization, you can't implement a "wait t seconds" (unless you used additional external hardware, e.g. 555 timer to add delay, but this isn't practical when there's a perfectly good SW API).
Note that if you're not comfortable with LabVIEW programming, but do know text-based programming, NI-Switch has a full-featured C++ API.  NI-Switch includes numerous examples in both LabVIEW and C++, and of course the community here can offer tips/hints/advice if you run into coding trouble.

  • Desktop Software Manager does not recognize phone

Newbie here. Phone works fine, but not DM Software. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling various DSMs (5.0, 4.7) but each time I get message that some component failed. Then, I open DSM and it always shows phone as "disconnected." Checking the Hardware Devices on PC, I find RIM devices under PORTS, showing as Serial . . . cannot find RIM device in any of the USB connections.
I have done re-sets, tried all USB ports. I have ordered another cable, not yet arrived, but think problem may be in download procedure. Thanks for any help.

    Hey jactor,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
There is a few things I would suggest you try:
    1. Since you uninstalled several versions of Desktop Manager and re-installed the software, I would suggest you make sure you do a complete uninstall.  To perform a clean uninstall: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02206
    2. Once the complete uninstall has been completed, then go to http://www.blackberry.com/desktop and download the latest software.  Install this software without the BlackBerry plugged into your computer and then restart the computer.
    3. Plug in the BlackBerry via USB and Windows should install the required drivers and Desktop Manager should pick up the device.
    Hope this information helps out.

  • Software management

new torch owner, previously owned the curve/8900. spend a few too many hours a day scouring blogs for information on my new device. as such, am aware of new software updates/upgrades as they're leaked and, later, released. my service provider, at&t is slow (especially in the case of the 8900) to made software upgrades publicly available. in fact, they denied os5.0 was compatible with the 8900, then claimed ignorance of it's existence suggesting users contact rim directly.
now, os6.0.0.214 has been leaked and is presumed to be the installed software for the canadian release of the torch. it stands to reason, at&t has access to this software and the ability to release it if they choose. so what is the logic in not making it available to end users?
too, what is the rationale in rim not making software upgrades more widely available? first off, have allowed myself to be sucked in to this technology loop. and, i like your products. much as i don't use my smartphone to the maximum of its capability, i'd like to be able to access the latest software with fewer obstacles. that's fair, isn't it?

    Hello,
You make some excellent points indeed. Fortunately, what you desire is actually do-able. Let me explain.
You are free to install any OS that you choose. You are not restricted to using the OS that your carrier has certified. The only caveat to that is your carrier may refuse to provide you with support until you fall back to their supported version. Each carrier chooses whether or not to adopt an OS released by RIM. They make that choice very carefully since it is they (the carriers) who are responsible for ALL front-line support...they must be careful to not spread themselves too thinly (I know...we could have a whole separate discussion about that...but be that as it may...).
So, RIM releases OS packages to the carriers. The carriers do whatever they do to decide if they will adopt it. If they choose yes, then they re-package it and release it to their user base -- and thereafter are responsible for all support of their user base for that OS level.
Now, to use a different OS carriers package, it's really quite simple...see this article:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-Device-Software/How-To-Reload-Your-Operating-Syste...
Follow the instructions EXCEPT insert, between steps 1 and 2, the deletion, on your PC, of a file named VENDOR.XML.
    Good luck!
Occam's Razor nearly always applies when troubleshooting technology issues!

  • Why is installing Captivate 5 recording Captivate 7 also on the company software management portal?

I have installed Captivate 5 using the License serial no. as showing on the Adobe LWS.
I dont have any License for Captivate 7 nor have I installed any trial versions.
So not sure where this info. is being picked up.
    Thanks,
    SP

    Hi SP,
I dont think this is anything to worry about, Captivate 5 is legacy software, So it maybe something in the system has got confused, Captivate 5 was superseeded by Captivate 5.5 in 2011 and 6 in 2012, and then 7 in 2013, so i'm guessing that regardless of the version someone has the latest version number is displayed.
