Software not up to date.
I have an iMac G5 (iSight) at work running version 10.4.8 and when I check for updates it says: "Software Update doesn't have any new software for your computer at this time." How can that be when there's 10.4.10, which I need for my iPhone. Please help.
You can download the 10.4.10 combo updater to get to the latest update.

You must have a 1st generation iPad.
iOS 5.1.1 is the most current version for that device.

All iPhones sold in Japan are sold carrier locked and cannot be officially unlocked by the carrier. If you unlocked it, it was by unauthorized means (hacked), and support cannot be given to you in this forum.
Hacked iPhones are subject to countermeasures by Apple, particularly when updating the firmware. It is likely permanently re-locked or permanently disabled.

I've made a photo book, but ordering this iPhoto crashes and I have to reopen the program; done this several times and each time uploading the 3rd page (of 86) it crashes again. My software is up to date (9.2.1), so that is not the problem.
Try boot into Safe Mode and try again.

Is this a brand new phone? If it is, which iTunes version does it say it requires (see side of box)?
With a Mac running 10.5.8 you can install the last version of iTunes 10.6

An older iPhone 4S should work with the above but if it is a brand new one I don't know. If the box says it requires iTunes 10.7 then you will have to upgrade to OSX 10.6.8 at least in order to run iTunes 10.7. You provide no information about your computer hardware so I can't tell you if this is even possible.
1) Make sure your computer meets Snow Leopard technical specifications - http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575 This mostly means making sure it is an Intel Mac and has at least 1GB RAM (more is recommended). To check RAM, go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About This Mac". Now continue to "More Info...". It should say you have at least 1GB of "memory".
2) Apple no longer carries 10.6 in its stores or online. Telephone Apple to purchase a Snow Leopard disc. In the USA: (800) 676-2775 (contact information for other countries: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57)
Alternatively you can buy from online retailers but anticipate paying much more than the original price which is the price still charged by Apple
3) Backing up your computer before upgrading is always a good idea.

When using SUS, clients say software's up to date when it's not.
I'm trying to get my Software Update service up and running and it all seems to be working (clients see server) except that every client reports that software is up to date even though I've got all updates copied and enabled (just trying to save bandwidth) and I'm certain they need several. Any thoughts?

the clients are set to look to sus.something.org:8088/index.sucatalog which lines up with how our DNS is set up. In the index.sucatalog file, however, it says image.something.org. I've never had "image" as an entry in our DNS system so i'm not sure where that's coming from. As a test, i did a find and replace on the file and replaced "image" with "sus" and then it worked. the problem is that when a change is made and the file is updated, it's back to "image."
How can I change this so that it will update the file with the correct FQDN? -
My camera is not working on my HTC One (M8). Iv'e tried unistall/re-install, restarting, clearing cache, force stop, and the software is up to date. Any other ideas?
Turn off Google Voice detection for Google now. That breaks a lot of cameras surprisingly.

I have purchased iPhone 3g device from my friend, I connected it to the iTunes to upgrade from 3.1 to 6.0 as many softwares were not being installed as iOS was not up to date. My ipad 2 wont upgrade from 5.1.1 to ios7. I keep getting the message software is up to date which it is clearly not.

If your iPad is an iPad 2 then it will have a camera (front and back) and will be able to update to iOS 7.
The first iPad's last update was before iOS 6, and you said yours was saying 5.1.1 was up to date, then it is probably and iPad first gen not an iPad 2.
So to answer your question.... You can't update to iOS 7 because your iPad is a first gen not an iPad 2.

and to really test if the windows firewall is the problem then try turning it off!
if that scare you too much then disable the internet modem / cable modem or the likes while you test
always remove more and more factors when troubleshooting sooner or later it will work and you can narrow down which factor did the job and work on that
