Software Picks in Windows 8 Store

Hello,
I'm maybe having a very unusual question, any assistance from Toshiba team is much appreciated.
As a software developer for Windows 8, I'm looking for a person responsible for Toshiba Picks inside Windows 8 Store. This section is used to highlight apps that Toshiba thinks worthwile and that run on Windows 8 devices (laptop and tablets).
The software I would like to propose for your evaluation is Live Interior 3D, its available as Free and Pro versions. The program was featured by Microsoft in the store several times.

Thanks,
Andrew

Hello David,
This is explained in the following article:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/projectsiena/archive/2013/12/30/submitting-a-project-siena-app-to-the-store.aspx
It is to be expected that this will become easier in future releases.

A bit of a shot in the dark, but this appears to be an issue with pulling down the update from the Windows Store.  I have not run into this issue directly, but this thread has a lot of information.
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-windows_store/windows-8-apps-are-pending-...
The one tidbit that might help here from that thread is:
"finally I found a solution. go to troubleshooting (press win+w >then type troubleshooting). now a window opens in desktop. click "fix problems with windows updates". now click next. windows will search for solutions, but it wont find anything. then windows will ask if u want to try in administrator mode. click yes. windows will find and solve the problem. that's it."

  • PROBLEM USING WINDOW STORE IN WINDOW 8.1

    HI Sir
when i open window store and install any app many time a box open and say your current connection is slow
and many time it say time out
and after this it take a long
time and show pending app but the app is so small and it take a long time   please solve my problem

    Hi,
Please try the following method to fix it:
    1. Disable your antivirus software.
    2. reset your Windows store cache:
Type WSReset.exe into search box, and run it as administrator. Windows Store will openand you’ll get a conformation message saying that:
The cache for the Store was cleared. You can now browse the Store for apps.
It will the take you back to Windows Store. Now try to install or update the apps or download fresh apps and see if it’s working like it should.

  • No Apps or Windows Store work after upgrading to Windows 8.1 Enterprise

    Hello,
Upgraded from Windows 8 Enterprise to Windows 8.1 Enterprise.  Now none of my apps work, cannot even go into the Windows store to repair them.  All of the apps give me an error message of "This App Can't Open" while the PC Settings and Windows
Store apps just open to a blank screen.  All Metro apps have a "X" mark on them. What I have already done:
    1.  I already downloaded the app troubleshooter which didn't help.
    2.  No use "contacting the app's publishers" since these are all native Windows apps.
    3.  Tried refreshing, no help.
    4.  System restore, no help.
    5. I don't have a proxy on.
    6. I've updated my graphics card to the most recent version.
This may sound naive but is there a way to "reinstall" the Windows store?  Can I download it from somewhere?  Please don't tell me to "reinstall or reset" Windows 8.1, that really isn't addressing the problem at all it is simply
throwing the entire thing away and starting over.  There has got to be a way to "fix" these sorts of things aside from a clean reinstall, otherwise they shouldn't allow "upgrading" in the first place.

    Hello,
The cause why appstore does not start is permissions and missing repository registry keys.
I fixed the problem by doing the following: importing and exporting registry keys / change permissions and reboot the machine.
login with a local account (must be member of administartor group) not a domain account to your machine. If you do not have, ask a colleague not having the problem with the appstore.
Ask hem to export the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\appmodel" key.
You need to import this key into the registry using your account.
     Follow this steps:
Check first the following location to see iof the repository is not empty
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\AppRepository
    1. Open registry editor typing regedit.exe from a command line.
       2. Browse to the registry key at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\appmodel\repository\packages.
if the repository is not there, login locally with a different account and export the following registry key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\appmodel
    - login backup to the account having appstore problem.
dubbel exported regkey, click yes and confirm overwriting the registry.
       3. Right click on the “packages” key and bring up the “Permissions” tab.
       4. Click the “Advanced” button located at the bottom right corner.
       5. Check to see the account name that shows up as the “Owner” (this is the first line of text on the “advanced security settings” dialog for the “packages” key). (this shows the built-in local Administrators group), it must be “SYSTEM”.
       6. If it is any other account, click on the “Change” button next to it.
       7. Type SYSTEM in the “select user” dialog. If “Multiple Names Found” window comes up, select the row for “SYSTEM”.
       8. Click OK to the dialogs and close them all.
       9. Run from admin command prompt:
Powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.xml
      10. Reboot your machine.
      11. Start appstore, if you get the error, you have no internet connection.
      12. Close appstore wait a view seconds and start it again.
This fixed the problem for me.

  • Distributing multiple versions of an app within a single Windows Store app

The company I work for creates Point Of Sale (POS) software using Software As A Service (SAAS), so we host our clients' databases.  We do not force all of our clients to all be on the same version of our software; i.e. some clients are on version 3,
others v4, others v5, etc.  As you would expect, the database schema for each of these versions is different, so each of these clients also use a different version of our client-side app.
We are looking at making a Windows Store app that acts as a light-weight POS app that clients can use to sell their products.  The problem is, we will require having multiple versions of our Windows Store app in production; the version of the app that
the client uses must correspond to their database version.  We were initially hoping to have our Windows Store app detect which version of the app the client should be using, and then automatically update itself to the correct version, but
were told on this post that it violates the Windows Store certification criteria, so that's not an option.
It has been suggested that we put multiple apps into the Store; one for each version of our software. We really don't want to do this though, as when we upgrade a client's database from one version to the next it would require that they uninstall their current
app and install the newer versions app, causing them to lose all of their custom settings. We would like the updates to remain as transparent to the end users as possible; the store clerk shouldn't need to worry about which version their database is on so
they know which app to download from the Store.
As a possible workaround, is it ok for us to package all 3 versions of our app into a single Windows Store app, and then just have the app check at runtime which version it should run?  I assume that this is alright, since we will not be downloading
any other code or installing any software/apps, as was the case with our original solution that violates the certification criteria.  Essentially we would just have 3 different classes and determine at run-time which classes code we should run.
I know that this solution isn't ideal, as it means our app will be 3 times larger than it needs to be, and that an update to any one of the 3 versions of our software will require an update to the Store app (so potentially users may download a new version
of the Store app, even though it doesn't have any changes for the particular code version (i.e. class) that they will use), but it's one of the best alternatives we have come up with.  I just want to check that this solution doesn't also violate any certification
criteria before we go down this road.
If this is not allowed then our only other alternative might be to go with sideloading (as
I discuss on this thread) and avoid using the Windows Store all together, but we would prefer to use the Store if possible as it eliminates a lot of overhead that we would have to deal with if we use sideloading.
Any insights or suggestions that you can give are appreciated. Thanks!

Hey Mr_bigworlds, thanks for the reply.  The moderator on this post actually told me that this
would be a better forum for my inquiries.  I agree that there may be another forum better suited for this question (there are so many that I don't know about), but since this relates to Windows Store certification criteria, I don't think the Windows Desktop
Development forums are the place for it.

  • Windows Store error code: 0xd00000bb

    Hello guys,
so i changed my AppStore profile directory from C:/Programm Files/WindowsApps to D:/Programm Files/WindowsApps with the regestery.
Now i get this error code: 0xd00000bb whenever i tried to install any app.
Does anyone know where i can find the error codes and what they stand for? Or maybe how to fix this problem?
    Thank you guys
ps: No i can't change it back to the C drive cause i got a small SSD on this drive...

How did you change the location of windows apps? I think this issue might be related with some registry entries in your system, by default, windows has a "PackageRoot" string for entry "Appx" in registry, the default valudata is "C:\Program
    Files\WindowsApps".

  • Windows Store in the Enterprise

I'm trying to figure out how to deploy Modern UI apps to our Windows 8.x devices while leaving the Windows Store disabled.  I'm familiar with sideloading, but that only applies to LOB apps, since you explicitly cannot sideload apps that exist in the
Store.  We have the Store disabled by GPO as we do not want our users installing apps from the Store on their own.  However, there are some Store apps we would like to manage as required software.
    I've seen the video (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ukhe/archive/2013/04/08/deploying-a-windows-store-app-with-configuration-manager-2012-sp1.aspx)
about how to deploy these apps via SCCM, but that still requires the user to have access to the Store and a Microsoft account.
How can I deploy Modern UI apps that exist in the Store without requiring my end users to have a Microsoft account and access to the Store?

    Hi,
What about to install APP for all users in Audit mode on the reference PC before capture the deployed image?
As GP for blocking Windows store, it mentioned that If you enable this setting, access to the Store application is denied. Access to the Store is required for installing app updates. That means we cannot deploy apps after Windows 8 is setup successfully
including adding to Domain with applying GP.
But we can do it during capturing image.

I am feeling so ripped off right now. I have wanted a Mac for years and believed the hype about it's stability and I have had more trouble with this Imac 2011 than I have ever had with a pc. It locks up with several software products from APP store. I have already had to have a technician to look at it and really couldn't figure out what the deal was.  I was told that the APP store software should give me no problems but the truth is that it locks up on the software. This machine is only 4 weeks old and I am using 37 g on a 1 T hard drive. There is no reason for it to be locking up. Also, when I try to use the help program, it always tells me that I am not connected to the internet even though I have used both the mail program and the browser with no problem just before that. I successfully used the help program on my pc lots of times. I did not need a $2000. plus machine to just get email. I just wanted to unload on somebody that might understand my pain and after checking out this site...I think there is a few of you out there.

I was told that the APP store software should give me no problems but the truth is that it locks up on the software.
The apps downloaded from the Mac App Store are written by third party developers, not Apple. If you have problems  with those apps you need to visit the support area for their websites. Launch the App Store, locate the app name. You should see a support link.
when I try to use the help program, it always tells me that I am not connected to the internet even though I have used both the mail program and the browser with no problem just before that
Go to ~/Library/Preferences. Move the com.apple.helpviewer.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash. Restart your Mac, try the Help menu.
If you need help finding that file, hold down the Finder icon in the Dock then click: New Finder Window. From the menu bar top of your screen click: Go > Go to Folder. Type this in exactly as you see it here:   ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.helpviewer.plist    That will take you right to that file.
(.plist) files stores information about a particular app or in this case, the Help viewer. Often times deleting the .plist file resolves the issue.
It's fine to "unload"... we understand that you expect your iMac to be stable but there are times when things go awry. That's why we have these forums so that you can you get help.

  • On 3 machines now the Windows Store is broken. The Install and Back buttons don't work

    Advised to post here instead.
    Hi there
On three separate Windows 8.1 Professional machines now, I've had an issue where the Store stops working properly for no apparent reason (no error messages or anything).  The store opens, and I can browse apps, and view individual apps, but
once in the app view I cannot click on the Install button or the back buttons.
They "light up" as if being pressed, but they don't actually do anything.
I've tried all the various troubleshooting, including the Windows App troubleshooter, wsreset, re-registering the store files using powershell, and renaming the cache folder in my user profile. No effect.
If I sign into the PCs as another user, then I don't get the issue. As such something is getting corrupted in the profile.
We only have around 9 or 10 Windows 8.1 PCs deployed at our organisation for testing, and three of them have had this fault, which doesn't inspire confidence. As such, we cannot progress with further deployment until we have a fix in place that
doesn't involve wiping the user profile.
    Any ideas please?

    Hi FangZhou CHEN
I've discovered the cause of this error after much searching.
Based on your suggestion, I checked the Event Viewer and found a string of "Application Error" entries similar to this:
Faulting application name: WSHost.exe, version: 6.3.9600.17093, time stamp: 0x534765e9
Faulting module name: sxwmon64.dll, version: 4.5.2608.0, time stamp: 0x52b2a853

    Faulting package full name:
    Faulting package-relative application ID:
Presumably the WSHost, exe process is critical to the Store and "Metro" apps?
The offending dll file causing this process to fail, sxwmon64.dll belongs to a peice of security software on our machines called Lumension Endpoint Security (we're running version 4.5 SR2). We use this to control removable media (USB) and CDRW access for
    our employees.
If I rename that particular DLL file, the store and the calendar app which I was also having issues with (it was blank), spring back into life.

  • Trigger Windows Store Apps update by script at first login

    Hi
Is it possible to trigger Windows 8.1 to check for Windows Store Apps updates at first login?
My issue is that when I add language packs to my Windows 8.1 images, the default apps (Mail, Calendar, Food and Drinks) are still in English. Not until the Windows Store apps are updated will they change to the correct language (Language of the
OS). I have turned on autodownload in the registry using this registry key:
    REG ADD "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsStore\WindowsUpdate" /v "AutoDownload" /t REG_DWORD /d 4 /f
It seems kind of random how long it takes before the autodownload kicks in. Some times it just a reboot and other times it takes like 24 hours. Can I trigger this update to start with some kind of script?

  • Image file can't be opened by windows store app if the file is in the Ext4's external hard disk.

    My question is described below:
I have two disks, external hard disk and removable disk. They are formatted with EXT4.
I put the same image in the disks, and use Ext2Fsd to mount the disks.
I open the file in win8, and it will default open by the windows store app : photos.
It will be success to open if the file is in the Ext4's removable disk.
It will be failed to open if the file is in the Ext4's external hard disk.
I don't know why it will be failed to open if the file is in the Ext4's external hard disk.
    Does anyone have similar experiences?

    Hi hatasum,
    Thanks for posting!
Base on my experience, if installed Ext2Fsd, we can read the ext4 file system on windows system. But Which version of Ext2Fsd did you use? From my experience, Ext2Fsd is not spported fine  about windows 8 version. Please refer to this software official

  • Windows 8 from TechNet/MSDN to Windows 8.1 via Windows Store, Possible ?

Windows 8 from TechNet/MSDN can not be updated to Windows 8.1 via Windows Store.
It says this edition dose not support update via Store.
Considering that Win8.1 is free for Win8 users, is there a way to bypass this ?

  • Can You Update Modern Apps without using the Windows Store?

Our corporate image for Windows 8.1 has the Windows Store app disabled. We have started to see some users are getting prompted to update the built-in apps, like the weather app or the video app. When these users attempt to update, they are taken to the Windows
store where they receive a message that states the store has been disabled by the administrator.
We're using SCCM 2012 R2 CU3.  Is it possible to patch these apps through SCCM software updates rather than through the store?  Is it possible to leave the store open for updates, but not for new app downloads?  What can we do?

    Hi,
The answer is no, When store app need to be updated, it would download a full new version package of the APP, install and replace the old ap. This process do need to login Windows Store to finish the job.

  • Printing in Windows Store Apps

    So,
I am changing this post because my problem is far more complicated (annoying) than originally expected.  If I were creating a WinForms app I would have access to System.Drawing and the Win32 API, but as I am currently trying to create this as a Windows
Store app, it renders those possibilities moot.
The idea is to print a small 1x1 inch to a specific printer.  Now, in the Runtime intrerop functionality I could search for the printer driver and just assign that value to the PrintDocument.  Using a graphics I could just draw the in memory bitmap
to the document and send it away.
However, in this hyper security limited context of the metro interface "store app" I have found so far only Windows.Graphics.Printing and WIndows.UI.Xaml.Printing namespaces.  Though they seem to allow for sending data to
a printer thus far I have not found any indication I determine
    which printer.
The whole idea is a closed box system, so no extraneous dialogs or user interactions.  They pick the image, set the quanity, and the golden hamster wheel spits out a printed label.
Now, I can do this very simply in a WinForms application, which I will be working on concurrently so I have a final product to deliver, but for myself (and the client) we would prefer a windows 8 metro style app to do this.  (now if store apps just
access the entirety of .Net that would so much simpler, but wishes and horses).
So could anyone provide me a map for more advanced control of the Printing process from a Windows Store App that I might figure out how to send the print document to the printer I want?
    Thanks
    Jaeden "Sifo Dyas" al'Raec Ruiner

Excellent, thanks for the quick reply.
For clarification, you mentioned a few terms that i would like to clarify:
    1.  windows runtime component / desktop printing API
this sound like an actual windows 8 desktop application.  Like what you'd run on windows 7 and windows 8 desktop.  (Full .net 3.5/4/4.5 not the "Windows Store App").  Basically a Windows Forms application / class library / win service
    maybe?
    2. brokered
this term sounds like there is a way to communicate from a Windows Metro/Store (XAML) App to a windows desktop component (a process maybe?).  If so, how does one do that.  If I create a WinForms application and create a class library for it.
That class library can be used by any .net application that references it but in the Windows Store App project I can't reference a standard class library, but your use of the term "brokered" suggests there is a way to do this.  Where would I
    find how to do that?
    3. desktop
Finally, by the mention of the term "desktop" red flags go up.  I personally will never use Windows RT because it lacks the desktop.  However, by the suggestions you've made here the only way to get my goal seems to be in using Windows
Desktop features.  If I were to create the XAML App and the "brokered component" to thus have access to "desktop printing", is that something that will even work on a Windows RT machine?
    Thanks so much,

PS - Don't mark answers on other people's questions. There are such things as Vacations and Holidays which may reduce timely activity, and until the person asking the question can test your answer, it is not correct just because you think it is. Marking it
correct for them often stops other people from even reading the question and possibly providing the real "correct" answer.
