Software support for USB6215

Are there some features that a more recent version of labview (more recent that 7.1) would support on my newly purchased NI USB6215?  Are there some functions I cannot perform on the USB6215 with labview 7.1?
THANKS!
Jerry

Hi Jerry,
There are a few features that would be supported in LabVIEW 8.x that are not available in LabVIEW 7.1.
One is using a shared variable to publish your data over the network.  You can see if this is a feature you are interested in by reading the tutorial OPC for Data Acquisition for NI-DAQmx 8.
The other feature that will be unavailable is NI-DAQmx Events for analog input and analog output operations.  There are examples available in LabVIEW 8.x for these operations that are not available in LabVIEW 7.1.
Please let us know if you have additional questions.
Regards,
Laura

  • Sun Ray Software Support for OpenSolaris

Hello. I'd like to know, when the SRSS support for OpenSolaris will be available. There is not enough fresh desktop software for Solaris 10 (even blastwave's gnome and kde are too old). Nowadays we have two quite old Solaris 10 terminal servers and we'd like to move them to our new IBM blades. As I understand there are two choices: use Linux and fresh soft or Solaris 10 and old soft. We'd like to use Solaris 11, but SRSS doesn't support it. It seems that we need to switch to Linux. Could we hope that OpenSolaris support will appear in SRSS in a half a year?

It's hard to see how there could ever be formal support for SRSS on any operating system that is as volatile as OpenSolaris. (I'm assuming you mean the distribution named OpenSolaris, originally Project Indiana. If you mean any arbitrary distribution derived from the OpenSolaris source base then that's even less likely.) I can imagine that SRSS might get repackaged or even relicensed in order to make it easier for people to run it on OpenSolaris, but I can't see Sun signing up to provide the traditional multi-year patch-based support program that SRSS has on its current platforms.
Nevada would be a more plausible candidate for some sort of support commitment. Even there it wouldn't be the traditional model, because Nevada is an unreleased snapshot of Solaris.next in the process of being created and it doesn't have the stability guarantees that a finished Solaris release has. Lots of people inside Sun, and quite a few outside Sun, run SRSS on Nevada. According to hearsay that combinatin has been pretty dependable but that's not a good enough foundation for the kind of guarantee that the formal Sun support model offers.
If I was looking for a shinier newer desktop for my Sun Rays I'd run Nevada. I'd pick a release, test it as hard as I could, then stick with it for at least a few months before doing a Live Upgrade to a later release. And I'd keep an S10 machine (or boot environment) around so that if I encounter problems on the Nevada systems I can try to reproduce it on S10, so that I could open support calls against the S10 system. It's not bulletproof -- Nevada may have problems that don't show up on S10 -- but it's at least some sort of safety net. I'd also be sure to subscribe to the sunray-users mailing list at filibeto.org in the hope that that would get me advance warning of Nevada issues, and maybe help with workarounds for issues if any crop up.

  • Third party backup software support for dataguard configurations

Any Oracle document about the subject?
I would be interested in an answer about backupexec 2010 r2 in particular, because reading the manual for its oracle agent there is information about Oracle/RMAN and RAC support, but nothing about Dataguard integration, that could be a value added.
Anyone using third party backup agents in a Dataguard configuration?
Interested in version 11gR2 on Linux.
    Thanks,
    Gianluca

yes, you should be able to use the full backup taken in middle and use the rest of the log backups taken afterwards to restore the database.while I do not use TSM, we use QUEST(DELL) LITESPEED, that takes full backup once a day and log backups
    every 15mins.
if someone accidentally takes full backup in the middle of day with out 'copy only',
log sequence will break and successive log backups depend on this full back up.
while this should be prevented from happening in first place, you can still restore from native full backup and then apply log backups taken from third party taken after the  native Full backup.
if this happens, I would restore the FULLBACKP with NORECOVERY using NATIVE SQL and then use  lite speed syntax to restore the log backups.Remember, native sql cannot read third party formatted backups(atleast litespeed), thats why I restore the full backup
using native sql, since it was taken with native sql backup and log backups using litespeed syntax.
    Hope it Helps!!
Thanks, well it was just a theory discussion we had about the issue. But none of us could find info on the internet easy to prove our point :) Thanks.

    Hi,
I have line and wechat installed in my phone. But I cannot see the option to either receive the calls or make the calls through such apps.
Is it because my phone hardware doesn't support voip feature or anything else.
Since whatsapp is not yet release, can we expect voip on it or it will be the same as line and wechat.
Thanks for your sharing your opinion in advance....

VOIP is possible with the S40 platform (please refer to this link and also this for more info). It is just that the applications you have mentioned does not currently support any calling feature.

  • TC software support for DTMF letter values

    Hi!
Got a question that I can't find a documented answer for.  On endpoints running any version of TC software, is there any way to get the endpoint to generate the DTMF tones for A, B, C, or D?
My gut feeling is no, if only because the graphical DTMF pad does not have those buttons (only 0-9, *, #).  The reason for asking is a customer is trying to call into an AT&T bridge which has one of those letters in the PIN.
    Thanks!

    Hi Wayne,
Thanks for the answer.  After reading it I realized I hadn't actually tried sending a letter DTMF.  The perils of internet research I suppose.  ;-)  Looking in the logs of my endpoint I saw that I was receiving the letter DTMF from the endpoint I was connected to.

  • Built-in support for web streaming camera?

    Hi,
I have a Sony MiniDV camcorder that supports web streaming.
Is there any built-in software support for web streaming?
If not, could someone please recommend software that will allow me to setup my camera in my house and view the streamed data over the internet?
    Thanks!!
    BT

You can download Quicktime broadcaster for free to do this. See http://www.apple.com/quicktime/broadcaster/
We've used it to stream a live event from an art gallery and then to a Quicktime Streaming Server (available free in the Darwin version) to broadcast to the world.

  • G4 support for Airport Card alternative?

    Hi all,
It never dawned on me that there is an alternative to Apple's Airport cards for our systems until recently. I have a G4 dual 1GHz system which houses a hookup for the original airport card; the system also has PCI slots. I have an Airport Extreme Base station and would like to restrict my frequency range to the 5 GHz ONLY (to avoid the crowding of 2.4 GHz range.) So, is it correct to say that my G4 is not tied down to the original airport card but can theoretically use "n" capable WIFI cards via on board PCI or USB? And if so, any you would recommend? Also, how's the software support for it, i.e., drivers, Airport Utility, etc. since the card would be third party and not Apples? Would I get the support from say, Airport Utility as if I had an Apple airport card in there or are there going to be compatibility issues? Many thanks!

OK, I just found this out:
    http://www.beowulf.org/archive/2001-July/004174.html
    32 bits/33 Mhz : aggregated ideal peak at 132 MB/s
    64 bits/33 Mhz : aggregated ideal peak at 264 MB/s
And that's shared between all items on the PCI bus.
It would be interesting to measure the bandwidth on the USB 2 PCI card. I've seen it vary wildly on a G4/400 Mhz Yikes, sometimes dropping to as little as USB 1.1 even with only one USB item connected on an IOGear card. I no longer have access to that machine. That's of course assuming nothing else is sharing the same bus.

  • Highly Annoyed: No iTunes Support for iPod Nano 5's (new) Recording Ability

Re iPod Nano 5th: does anyone else out there find it to be a p-ss-off that, now that it records videos, voice and steps (well-done!), the iTunes application gives little or no support for any of them? Clear to me: iPod WAS just a playback machine, and iTunes fed it the media, one-way only. But the Nano 5th is now a 3-part recorder, and is Apple going to change iTunes or supplement it to make it a two-way application? Disk use doesn't cut it - and often conflicts with use of the iTunes Sync button (which I use for my songs library). Cases-in-point: I've taken camera videos that I can no longer find on my iPod, even though their files are still in the iPod DCIM folder! For Voice 'memos' (great for recording just about any dialogue or talk), I have first to make sure that the playlist "Voice Memos" in my iTunes library has the same 5 recordings I have on and want to keep on my iPod before I do a manual Sync to transfer the CD songs I've just added to iTunes and want on my iPod. I have spent hours trying to establish a 'disk use' method get back a recording that's disappeared from the iPod's Recordings folder (done by iTunes without my say-so).
Because I'm new to using iPod and iTunes, I've turned to the 104-page User Guide for the Nano 5th. Is anyone else annoyed that it's upbeat language completely skirts Apple's gaping hole of incompleteness in software support for the new recording functions of Nano 5th? Is it dishonest? Pity the Apple underlings forced to write it, knowing Apple iPod execs f--ked up by failing to develop iTunes/software support in tandem with the new iPod wizardry. Back to my question: is this bugging anyone else, and do you have any insight to lend me?
McGoosteraneous ly (a stupid name for an unstupid guy)

I will check out Apple Knowledge Base though. URL is?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=search
*The Apple staff are unlikely to help me with "all my issues"* if they lead me thru indirect ways to manage camera videos and recordings and not thru dedicated software that Apple has overlooked to develop along with the Nano 5th.
You will not know this until you get there. If you do not want to march on down to the store then call iPod support.
"Complaining" in these forums is falling on deaf ears. Apple will not respond nor do they read these postings because these are user-to-user forums where everyday folk post questions and offer answers to each other.
If you have a problem with the way Apple has intergrated the iPod Nano with iTunes, post them on Apple's Product Feedback website.

  • I am trying to install windows 7 on my macbook pro 13", when i run bootcamp it tells me that there is not a windows support software available for my computer. Where can i get the windows support software for my macbook?

I am trying to install windows 7 on my macbook pro 13", when i run bootcamp it tells me that there is not a windows support software available for my computer. Where can i get the windows support software for my macbook?

Apple only supports Windows on certain hardware.
    http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Apple provides their framework for Windows to run on a Mac, a piece of software called a Hybrid MBR that bridges the gap between how Windows reads the drive partition table (MBR) and EFI/GUID partition table that Mac's use.
It doesn't mean Windows can't run on your Mac, a third party solution called rEFIt will also bridge the gap and allow booting of more that just Windows, Linux as well for a triple booting computer.
Your hardware has to meet the other requirements the second and third operating system needs as as being able to install drivers that will work for your hardware, especially the fans or they will run loud and fast by default.
    http://refit.sourceforge.net/
This above is a advanced procedure which requires knowledge how computers and various operating systems, drive formats and so forth work.
I even admit I don't know everything myself, but I experiment on a separate piece of Mac hardware (out of warranty/AppleCare) designed for this purpose so in case something screws up I'm not taking down my only machine and can use the other to get online and find solutions.
There is a very high potential for losing your data if your using advanced/non-Apple methods to install Windows on your only Mac where Apple doesn't support it. Also one shouldn't be doing this on Mac hardware that is under AppleCare or warranty as it might be voided. Proceed at your own risk and education.

    Hi!,
I am using JDevloper for my project.
I want to maintain the versions of all files in the project. Also,if all are using one Workspace on network and someone updates a file then message box got dispalyed asking for reloading buffers again.
So to avoid this and maintain versions I want to use Software Configuration Management (SCM)Tools. So does JDeveloper supports for SCM tools? If yes kindly tell me how to use it?
    Thanks

    Hi,
The upcoming release of JDeveloper (3.2) has support for SCM. In this release, support has been integrated with Oracle's own SCM product, Oracle Repository. In future releases, other SCM products (e.g. CVS) will be supported.
When JDeveloper 3.2 is released (should be available at the end of Nov / start of Dec), the installation guide will have full details on how to install the Oracle Repository and use the SCM integration in JDeveloper.
In 3.1 or earlier, a custom addin exists for JDeveloper that can be used to support SCM systems (see JDeveloper documentation on OTN). However, this is not as tightly integrated as the new SCM support coming in 3.2.

  • Why Do People Make and Provide Software and Support for Free?

Hey all, I discovered Linux and open source software a little over 4 years ago now. It transformed the way I thought about software and using the computer. So now in my senior year of college I have chosen for open source software to be the subject of my thesis.
The topic of this thread is the research question of my thesis. But it is also question that I have been thinking about for the last couple years or so. Why do people decide to write software and then give it out for free for all to modify? The second has to do with forums like these. I have always wondered why people do help support on these forums for free when they can be making money doing the exact same thing. Below I will write 13 research questions that you guys can give me your answers or philosophy too.
    1. How long have you been using Linux?
    2. How did you learn/find out about Linux?
    3. Why have you chosen Linux over other operating systems available?
    4. Why did you choose to use your current distribution?
    5. Do you still use any closed source programs that are not available for Linux?
    6. Tell me the reasons that you contribute to the community?
    7. What do you think motivates others to contribute to the community?
    8. In your opinion, what reasons do you think others provide software to everyone for free?
    9. In what ways do you feel contributing to the community could benefit someone's future/career?
    10. What is it about contributing or programming that you enjoy most? Is there any aspects you dislike?
    11. Are you a member of other non-software communities? Such as a church, voluntary organizations or charities?
    12. Does your open source work spillover with any other areas of your life?
    13. If you provide support on forums such as these, why do it for free?
You DO NOT have to answer all 13 of the questions above. Please just pick out the ones that you feel are most important or interesting to answer. If someone else says something that you think is interesting feel free to respond to them if you agree or disagree.
If anyone wants to take this discussion further with me than the forum, I will absolutely love too! Just please send me a private message on here and we can figure out further ways of contacting each other.
I plan on using your user names on this forum to identify people in my paper. If any of you are uncomfortable with me using your username in my paper, please let me know! I will be monitoring this thread on a day by day basis for the next two months or so, until my thesis is complete. If you guys have any other questions that pop up, please do not hesitate to ask! Thank you all in advance for responding!

hockeyfighter09 wrote:1. How long have you been using Linux?
Roughly 3 years, with about 2 of those full-time. Tried out for 6 months a couple of years before that, but didn't stick.
hockeyfighter09 wrote:2. How did you learn/find out about Linux?
Older relatives/friends mentioned it in passing due to my interest in computers, was pointed to the (then-new) Ubuntu and actually given a CD (which I never used). Did read up a bit about it at the time, though.
hockeyfighter09 wrote:3. Why have you chosen Linux over other operating systems available?
Frustration with fixing Windows. Most of that came from my tinkering with it with a bunch of patches/hacks/cracks etc, necessitating a reformat every few months. Oh, and viruses would pop-up once in a while. Mac was always out of my budget (was a student, am still not done with my post-grad).
hockeyfighter09 wrote:4. Why did you choose to use your current distribution?
Ubuntu got quite frustrating from two aspects:-
    1. 'Freeze' policy kept creating lousy bugs. I would have maybe 12 external ppas enabled and of course they wouldn't always play nice with each other, simply because the repos I had been so in awe of when first starting out didn't actually contain all that many useful programs. Used Mint for a while, same problem (now I understand it was the same base).
    2. SNR of forums - When I first joined ubuntuforums it was like heaven-on-earth, so HELPFUL, so many replies almost instantly. It took me roughly 1 and a half months to notice that probably only 2 regular posters were worth listening to, the rest were trying to help with no knowledge to back them up.
So I tried Sidux, OpenSuse, Fedora, and finally read about Arch. Installed it side-by-side, and viola, it was fun! I like tinkering, basically, and Arch allows me to do it far more than Ubuntu/Windows (I class Ubuntu as similar to Windows by now) ever did.
hockeyfighter09 wrote:5. Do you still use any closed source programs that are not available for Linux?
Yes, some games through wine (not sure if that counts as 'available for Linux'. I do not boot into Windows at all, anymore (though its on my laptop).
hockeyfighter09 wrote:6. Tell me the reasons that you contribute to the community?
One of the best things I like about open-source is how most active projects have a community around them. So its not just software, but people working together (of course with heirarchies etc.), fits my Utopian view of how things 'should be(tm)'. I'm a sucker for Utopia, so I try to feed the community as far as possible.
hockeyfighter09 wrote:7. What do you think motivates others to contribute to the community?
A combination of 6. and substituting social deficiencies. Some come across as not actually having much of a social life (probably lack of those sharing nerdy interests in their area) and substituting that in online communities. This isn't really Linux specific, more internet-community specific.
hockeyfighter09 wrote:8. In your opinion, what reasons do you think others provide software to everyone for free?
Perspective of personal developer (one-man projects), I think its a mix of altruism (probably 20-30%), pride (50%) and commercial sensibility (the rest). Most of it is pride, the knowledge that many use my software.
For companies, as mentioned above, its very financially viable, especially in already-saturated markets.
hockeyfighter09 wrote:9. In what ways do you feel contributing to the community could benefit someone's future/career?
Not much, honestly. My career-line is education/engineering, so not much scope there. For someone in the computer sciences, of course there'd be more benefit, but not more than investing the same amount of time into part-time work to expand your portfolio. So for the INDIVIDUAL I believe participating in the community does not bring future/career benefits, we do it because we enjoy the community and want to see it succeed.
hockeyfighter09 wrote:10. What is it about contributing or programming that you enjoy most? Is there any aspects you dislike?
The sense of achievement, that what you do is useful to someone. The BIG dislike is when other members of the community don't feel the same way. There will always be members who are demanding (customer mentality) or abrasive (big tough guy mentality). Both are 'big city' mentalities with no place in the 'homely-little-town' community of Linux (that's how I see it anyway).
Oh, and noobs answering questions with no knowledge (something I've done before as well) are more annoying than noobs asking questions, personal opinion
hockeyfighter09 wrote:11. Are you a member of other non-software communities? Such as a church, voluntary organizations or charities?
I'm very active in my church (various leadership roles), and regularly help out at my fiance's NGO (mostly video work, ffmpeg and cinelerra stuff). A child sponsor and blood donor, etc. etc.
hockeyfighter09 wrote:12. Does your open source work spillover with any other areas of your life?
I don't 'work' on open-source, so a bit of a N/A here. What small patches I provide, or the moderating I do here, is just small contributions. Doesn't spill over to any other areas of my life, because computers are like that, compartmentalized away from the 'real world' (cue Matrix theme tune).
hockeyfighter09 wrote:13. If you provide support on forums such as these, why do it for free?
Like I said, in a small village community setting, people help and are helped for free. I do tech support for friends/relatives in RL for free, so on the forums, for very little time invested, why not?
In answer to litemotiv - yes control is MUCH more important than freedom. I've never really been taken by all of RMS' screaming and ranting. I'm an engineer by training, I want to know what's going on (to a reasonable degree) and control it. Philosophical discussions are interesting but ultimately a waste of time.

I can only find version 11g downloads but our database server is 10Oracle 11 client will work just fine with a 10g database. However, 10g is currently only on "sustaining" support. You are WAAY overdue to upgrade the db.

I'm getting the impression Oracle intentionally does not allow older downloads even though they are still supported. You need to look at the level of "supported" for 10g. A software company can't support old versions forever, and by limiting the download of those old versions, they limit the number of new support calls for them.

again, since you are concerned with the client software, you should just get the 11g client. It will work fine with your 10g database.

    This is not okay.
    Please Help!

"Similar" problem here. I have bought a new PC, and want to install my precious CS5.5 to the new system.
All I get is an "illegal serial number" message. Even though I deactivated on the old pc and even though I copy the serial (for the pc version) from my official products page (or whatever that page is called)...
That's when the ordeal started to get someone at Adobe to figure out what is wrong.

The websites linked to in the final "chat" lines which should answer my questions are utterly useless.

Note that the only way in which I can get a fast human reply is by calling the number for buying the new CC! Shame on you Adobe!

You may have guessed I am a bit  exassperated. (See this discussion from yesterday.) (Re: How do I get past the Error: 16 problem?
I am trying to move Adobe Acrobat IX, Photoshop CS6, Photoshop CC and Bridge to a new computer (Mac Pro (late2013), Mavericks 10.9.3) from an older Mac Pro using the same OSX.
I keep getting the error 16 message whether I try to open Acrobat or Photoshop (I have a paid for DVD of CS6). I have uninstalled and re-installed. I have reset permissions on 2 folders ion the system Library. I have either deactivated or signed out of ALL the Adobe products on my old computer. I signed in as 'Root' and tried to open the software. I have re-downloaded all the products except CS6 which I own. I have restarted the computer. I have repair the drive using Disk Utility and Disc Warrior. In short I have tried everything I can think of and that which has been suggested my others on this Forum.
    Thanks again,
