Software to manage conversations on the desktop

I am looking for a application similar to TweetDeck which will allow me to manage multiple conversations on my desktop as opposed to the device.
Is there a TweetDeck kind of program which will allow me to stream the messages into the desktop and I can manage multiple conversations via the desktop.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
As an avid TweetDeck user, I agree...at least I think I agree. It is difficult to be sure since you only said "messages" and "conversations". You neglected to reveal which, of the dozens of possibilities, you are asking about. BBM? Yahoo Messenger? SMS? Email? Something else?
If you are asking about BBM, then the answer is no. If SMS, I think it is still no.
Good luck!

  • LXDE: managing folders on the desktop

    Hi,
    I've made a discovery: folders on the desktop are real folders, no 'labels'. If you delete them, they go, contents and all. On my brand new desktop there are two icons: 'My Documents' and 'KDE', the latter being the contents of my ~/Desktop directory.
    I understand that I can change 'KDE' permissions, but I'd prefer it just out of sight. Is there a way?

    Yes they are not shortcuts.  You can remove them by stopping pcmanfm from controlling the desktop.  It's an option chekbox within pcmanfm preferences.
    edit (assuming you are using pcmanfm that is..)

  • Software/script/automator to change the desktop image periodically

    Hello,
    Right now Mac OSX has the great feature that allows you to change the desktop image at max once a day. I would like to have an image changed once every two days. Then I would like that image to re-appear after 1 week. Then after a month. And then after 4 month.
    Little more to what OS X can do.

    I got this from this [little apple tutorial|http://www.apple.com/applescript/features/system-prefs.html]. it explains how to script system preferences (to the extent that it's scriptable).
    if you run
    <pre style="
    font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;
    font-size: 10px;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 5px;
    border: 1px solid #000000;
    width: 720px;
    color: #000000;
    background-color: #ADD8E6;
    overflow: auto;"
    title="this text can be pasted into the Script Editor">
    tell application "System Events"
    -- GET DESKTOP PICTURE SETTINGS
    tell current desktop
    get properties
    --> returns: {display name:"Color LCD", random order:false, pictures folder:file "Mac OS X:Library:Desktop Pictures:", picture rotation:0, class:desktop, change interval:60.0, picture:file "Mac OS X:Library:Desktop Pictures:Aqua Blue.jpg"}
    end tell
    end tell
    </pre>
    it will list the properties of the current desktop and *change interval* is one of them.
    you can also get it from the apple script dictionary for System Events.

  • How to rename the desktop?

    Hello all.  I just went into Time Machine to retrieve a large file that was in my desktop, and I chose to bring the entire desktop onto my computer.  So basically, I moved the file into my actual desktop, and I deleted the one that I just copied into my computer.  Now, my desktop is called Desktop (original), and it's driving me NUTS.  Can you guys

    Try restarting your Mac. While checking something related to your issue, I somehow managed to rename the Desktop (but can't repeat it so don't ask me how I managed to do that). On restart & login a new, empty Desktop folder was created, but the renamed one was also visible in the Finder. I could then drag its contents out onto the Desktop & trash the now empty renamed one.
    I hope that works for you too!

  • Cleanly "Starting Over" with the Desktop Software (non-BES)

    Hi there,
    With the advances in the RIM Desktop Software, there have been many posts about the upgrade process resulting in less than functional situations. The process I recommend is to cleanly start completely over, cleaning all remnants of the Desktop Software from the PC, and perhaps even clearing the content databases from the BlackBerry SmartPhone (on the assumption that the Desktop Organizer app has complete and correct data).
    To do this, I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything that you can. Additionally, if you are truly concerned about your data, then you should first copy (for Outlook, to a PST) your contacts, calendar, memos, and tasks...just to be sure, in case of something catastrophic.
    There are some reports that a Windows user profile (type 'echo %userprofile%' in the command prompt) that contains spaces might cause the installer to fail. In order to solve this issue, log out of your Windows account and log back in using the local Administrator account (or any other account name without spaces, but with full admin rights) and install the desktop (for all users).
    1) Remove any/all BlackBerry Device Software package(s) from your PC
    Add/remove programs, Uninstall, etc. depending on your Windows OS level
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM Desktop Software:
    KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
    Some have reported the manual search and removal of RIM, BB, and Puma registry keys to be helpful.
    Do not attempt this if you are at all unsure -- editing your registry incorrectly can render your entire PC useless!
    Others have reported the use of a registry cleansing tool to also be helpful
    Still others have reported the use of your original PIM (e.g., Outlook, NOTES, etc.) installation CD, running the "repair" process, to be helpful in some situations
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM Desktop Software:
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your BlackBerry Device Software package from your carrier -- it must be the version that your BlackBerry is already running (otherwise, the Desktop Software will attempt to change the version that is running on your BlackBerry):
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    KB23393 How to check the model number and version of installed BlackBerry device software on a BlackBerry smartphone
    5) Install the Desktop Software to your PC -- do not allow it to start
    6) Install (also to your PC), the BlackBerry Device Software package -- do not allow it to start the Desktop Software
    If the package came from a carrier other than that for which your BlackBerry was originally manufactured, then after this install step completes, you must delete, from your PC, at least one copy, and possibly two, of VENDOR.XML.
    One will for sure be here (or something quite similar, depending on your Windows OS):
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    The other might be here:
    c:\Users\<insert your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    7) Start the Desktop Software and connect your BlackBerry to your PC (USB) when prompted.
    8) OPTIONAL -- if you truly want a clean start over AND you are 100% sure that the data in your PC Desktop Organizer (e.g., Outlook) is accurate, then, at this point, you can clear the BlackBerry of all Organizer data so that you can start over fresh, using your PC Organizer data as master:
    KB10167 How to clear the user content databases from the BlackBerry smartphone
    9) Start the organizer configuration over:
    KB03315 How to synchronize organizer data (calendar, task list, memo list, and contact list) using the BlackBerry Desktop Software
    If you are using Outlook AND multiple profiles, be sure to click the "Configure" button, inside of the Configure screen for each organizer app...that is how you select the proper profile for EACH Organizer component you are configuring.
    Hopefully that will get things going again.
    Good luck and let us know!

    Question
    I have installed firefox 3.2.64. When i click on the desktop icon nothing happens. The windows task manager says mozilla firefox is running but I can't see it anywhere. What might the problem be?

    A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
    Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Tips for getting BlackBerry Desktop Manager to detect the BlackBerry smartphone!

    Here are a few tips that may help if your PC is unable to detect your BlackBerry smartphone!
    1.    Install the desktop manager software – when installing the Desktop Manager software that came with your device be sure to Not have the BlackBerry connected to the computer during this process.
    2.    Always use the USB ports from the back of the computer; never use a USB hub or a docking station USB port.
    3.    If you have another UBS cable you can try doing that to make sure it is not the cable causing the issue.
    4.    If you are using a laptop computer disable the power management settings.
        a.    For Windows-XP and Vista do the following to disable power management on the USB ports
            i.     On the computer, right-click My Computer and select Properties.
            ii.    Click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.

            v.     Click the Power Management tab, and clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box.
            vi.    Click OK.
            vii.    Repeat steps i. through vi. for each USB Root Hub listed in BlackBerry Device Manager.
    5.    If you have uninstalled and reinstalled the Desktop Manager Software trying using the following knowledge base article to do a “clean uninstall” of the software. http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB02206
    6.    The existing USB driver installed is for an earlier model of the BlackBerry smartphone.
        a.    Manually upgrade the USB driver for the BlackBerry smartphone by completing the following steps:
            i.     Right-click My Computer and select Properties > Hardware > Device Manager.
            ii.     Under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, verify that the BlackBerry smartphone is found.
            iii.    If an exclamation mark is displayed, right-click the BlackBerry smartphone and select Update Driver.
            iv.    If the Hardware Update Wizard prompts you to use Windows Update, select No not this time and click Next.
            v.     Choose Install from a list or specific location and click Next.
            vi.    Choose Don't search. I will choose the driver to install and click Next.
            vii.    Click Have Disk and then choose Browse.
            viii.   Browse to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\USB Drivers.
            ix.    Double-click on RimUsbNT.inf, click OK, and then click Next.
    7.    If you have another PC try using that PC to see if you able to get the device connected
    8.    If you do not have another PC then try creating a new user account on the PC and then install the Desktop Manager software on that new profile.

  • Where is the desktop redirector with Desktop Manager 6?

    A client of ours had upgraded his version of Desktop manager to 6 from 5.something.
    There is no more link for the Redirector under START - PROGRAMS - BLACKBERRY
    The icon for the redirector still shows up in his start menu, however, it says that it's not started.
    Where can I find the software with the new desktop manager?  I've tried reinstalling the desktop manager already but still cannot find it, nor were there any options during the installation to include it.

    I've looked for this and cannot find it either.  I want to be able to hide the Blackberry bar at the bottom of the screen when I minimized the software.

  • Why won't my Bluetooth option start on the Desktop Software

    Bluetooth radio is turned on. I've discovered my device but the Desktop software only has the option to connect by USB. Ver 5.0
    During installation there is no option to choose what type of connection you want. I see there are options to choose between USB and Bluetooth or both, however they are grayed out. I have a successful USB connection. Everything works fine but I want to go wireless.
    Running on Toshiba Sattelite laptop with Vista 32bit ultimate OS
    Toshiba Bluetooth stack is turned on but it's Toshiba's  -  not microsoft (don't know if that matters)
    Device is found and paired.
    When I connect from laptop to BB it asks if i wish to accept, so the conneciton is good. I answer YES to the Desktop option and the BB just says CONNECTING TO DESKTOP and stays there. I've waited for 15 minutes and then had to do a hard reset
    Any ideas.

    HI and Welcome to the Forums!
    I do believe the stack matters...must be Microsoft or WidComm. Here are some KB's:

  • GPO Deployement of Blackberry Desktop Software 6.1 fail with the following error: user cancelled installation

    Hello everybody,
    I get an issue when i try to deploy the latest version of Blackberry Desktop Software using a Group Policy Objetc.
    The package tries to install a the computer's startup but i can't find the product installed.
    On the event viewer and after a rsop.msc i get the following error: User cancelled installation
    I worked threw this link http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Unable-to-install-Blackberry-Desktop-... and i installed vcredist_x86 and msxml6 on the client computer but the problem is still the same.
    Could anyone help me for this issue.
    Over simple way to solve my problem would be to let me know where i can download an older version of Blackberry Desktop Software because there is a link on the website but it doesn't work.

    Well folks. I've had enough.
    The 9780 is a great phone, it's easy to use, practical and dependable. However, the Desktop Manager software has been giving me too many sleepless nights. On two occassions I must add: once at the end of last year when I bought it and only managed to solve it by myself after 4 weeks of trawling through online forums, blogs and other BB help sites and the recent one was last week when I tried to install it on my new Windows 7 notebook.
    I know this is not entirely the fault of RIM, Microsoft also has a part to play. But considering the state of technology these days, it shouldn't have to be so difficult. I want a phone and software that makes my life easier and not have to be a slave to it by trying days and nights to solve its problems.
    Hence, I have officially decom my phone and gotten an iPhone 4 instead. The switch ain't that difficult for me as I have always been platform neutral. As long it fits my needs, does it job well and doesn't give me too much headache, I'm cool with it.
    Ciao folks!

  • The desktop on which I had Lightroom and PhotoshopCC installed failed and I no longer have access to it. How do I deactivate the software on those machines so that I can reinstall it on my new Mac?

    Question: The desktop on which I had Lightroom and PhotoshopCC installed failed and I no longer have access to it. How do I deactivate the software on those machines so that I can reinstall it on my new Mac?

    Absolutely - but I had no idea there were two versions. When I got my new laptop I just went to the Adobe site to download and install LR5. It never asked if I had a license; it just directed me to install CC to start a trial which I thought I could license after downloading. Several sessions and many hours of looking through the forums and Google for an answer I never ran across anything that made this distinction. I still haven't found a path from www.adobe.com that would get me to the standalone download page (it's probably there, wasn't obvious to me) and looking at the download page it doesn't make any CC/standalone distinction.
    There are many places I could have gotten a hint - for instance the license could be tagged "stand alone edition", the CC-version could recognize the stand-alone key and either accept it or produce a more meaningful error message, or the download site or the CC app could ask if I had previously purchased a key, etc.
    It was my error to assume this was a deactivation problem, but it looked the same as a previous deactivation problem with Photoshop.
    In any event, thank you for your help.

    Somebody could help me?
    In case that it has the solution or it passed for these experiences?

    Hi Uwe :-)
    We know, that we have to raise the parameter PROCESSES to solve our problem (for a while). But we want to solve and understand the problem once for all.
    And we noticed, that the processes raise everytime, we open a web-page in the visual editor in the JDeveloper. And we want to know, if anyone knows why. Or should we have forgot to set any parameter. Maybe its a bug of the JDeveloper version, we are unsing.
    I just have found the error, that occurs in JDev.
    Listener refused the connection with the following error:
    ORA-12519, TNS:no appropriate service handler foundMaybe this is helpfully? :-/
