Software tools for use in planning P to V project

I'm looking to plan for a P2V project. Which software tools are helpful in the process, and in what way?
For example, using capacity planner to establish baselines. What else should I use Capacity Planner for?
What other software tools should be used, and what information will they give me to help prepare for the P2V?

Of course web servers and web clients can be on different machines. That's how the web works. Your browser (the web client) connects to Google's web server, when you use Google.
And when it does so, it does it by opening a socket (TCP, as opposed to UDP, by the way) and sending information in the format that the HTTP protocol specifies. Generally speaking, if you can connect to a given machine with a raw socket, you can also connect using HTTP (which is just a socket with some particular stuff going over it). The only difference is if there's a firewall or the like sitting between the two hosts... but that'll be an issue regardless, and anyway HTTP is as likely to be let through a firewall as anything these days.
If you can use the HTTP stuff provided in the JDK or in add-on libraries, you'll be saving yourself a lot of trouble with the low-level stuff. Unless the point of this project is to learn the low-level stuff, you're probably better off just going with HTTP.

Best Practice for Using Static Data in PDPs or Project Plan

I want to make custom reports using PDPs & Project Plan data.
What is the Best Practice for using "Static/Random Data" (which is not available in MS Project 2013 columns) in PDPs & MS Project 2013?
Should I add that data in Custom Field (in MS Project 2013) or make PDPs?

I have a Project Level custom field "Supervisor Name" that is used for Project Information.
For the purpose of viewing that "Project Level custom field Data" in
Project views , I have made Task Level custom field
"SupName" and used Formula:
[SupName] = [Supervisor Name]
That shows Supervisor Name in Schedule.aspx

The field is enabled in Task.aspx BUT Data is not present / blank column.

Hi,
Any conversion process consist of typical three steps :
1) Extraction: Using custom program for legacy or third party tools
2) Transformation: Third party tools
3) Loadting: SAP provided techniques, in mycase I am using LSMW.
Q1 ) What are the third party tools we use typically for doing extarction and transformation ?
Q2 ) At what step <b>data cleansing and data staging</b> takes place in above Three steps.

I would say that data cleansing could begin before the data is actually extracted from the source system, if needed. In some home-grown systems, you may have obselete data or plain corrupted records which you do not want to bring to the other system, obviously you can simply delete these records from the source DB. You could also do some data cleansing when converting the legacy data to SAP data.

there is a handy little free tool for actually doing good, reliable searches (though perhaps with a user interface that's a big geeky). It's Stefan Kueng's grepwin tool:

If you put the right stuff in the right places in its dialog, It will find what you're searching for - quickly and every time, even if encoded in Unicode. It even tells you the things it cannot search in (for example because the file is open), so there's no way you can unknowingly miss anything. Stefan definitely knows what he's doing.

Software tools for profiling apps and os for power usage

I worked in windows and used windows performance toolkit, this is used to profile the applications for its usage on cpu, power, memory and other system resources.
i think there should be some similar tool in mac os x for identifying the most power consuming applications, though there is a way to identify "Apps consuming significant energy". i want to know, which app will is using most of battery and cpu over a time among all. so that i can avoid using them.

Try MenuMeters. It hasn't been updated for a while but works fine in Mavericks.

Development tools for using Spatial Data

Hi everyone,
What are the best tools that are used to develop the spatial applications that you guys are using/developing? Should I get something like eSpatial, or just develop in notepad?? Is there something else that uses your spatial data and can generate maps based on your data in your database?

I am looking to develop a map of the US that shows the locations of military bases that we are responsible for monitoring. This map will have an icon near the name of each of the bases that is colored depending on if a trouble ticket has been created due to an outage or problem at the location. Example, red for a network outage, green if nothing is going on. What I am struggling with is where do I get all the geometry to create the map of the US, or can I just use images that are already created and specify the X and Y on that image and use long/lat of the bases and create the locations. This is not a topic I have a lot of experience in as you can see, but it is something I have been assigned to work on.

Enable Measuring Tool for Use in Reader X

I created a Geo-spatial PDF using ESRI's ArcGIS. I opened the PDF in Adobe Acrobat Pro X and made some minor cosmetic changes. In Acrobat Pro X I was able to use all the geospatial tools including the measuring tool. I saved the changes to the PDF.
I now want to send the PDF to another person who only has Adobe Reader X and want them to have the functionality to use the measuring tool to measure buildings ect. Currently they can see and use the object data tool, and the geospatial location tool, but not the measuring tool. Is there anything else I need to do in Acrobat X to allow a Reader user to access this tool?

Yes, you need to save the PDF as Reader Extended PDF in Acrobat X. This can be done from File>Save As>Reader Extended PDF>Enable Commenting and Measuring. This file will give the Measuring Tool option in Adobe Reader X.

Tools for planning / modeling / designing a RIA

I'm about to embark on a large (to me) web project. I have little formal training but have been able to do well enough with my projects so far.
I know that planning for a large project is very important. I have been reading stuff all over the net about what needs to be in a plan and the things that need to be considered.
What I am not finding is a tool or set of tools to use during planning. Sure I could write everything in a word processor but that doesn't seem to be productive. I'm looking for something that I can use to define all the elements of my application (objects / classes / data / relationships / views / logic). I would like it be intelligent enough to know that I am designing a web application. So for example if a create a data table object it knows it will have columns with data types or if I am creating a class it may have properties and methods and events etc.
Do such tools exist?
What tools do you use when planning/documenting an application?
I came here to the Flex forum because I am thinking I may be using Flex and PHP and Flash.

ERROR: insufficient privileges while using EXPLAIN PLAN command

I have a table named TEST and i ran following command on this table.
SQL> EXPLAIN PLAN FOR
2 SELECT NAME FROM TEST;
SELECT NAME FROM TEST
ERROR at line 2:
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
So which privilege do i need to give for using EXPLAIN PLAN command.

You might consider checking dba_tables to check the owner in your case and may be you don't privilege on that table.

Based on open source Eclipse IDE & looks very essential for extensive Java projects and supports standard technologies as well from the SAP technologies & the Infrastructure as well.
Can work well in both Java & ABAP platforms as it supports different perspective for both of them.
2). SAP Enterprise Portal Developer Kit (PDK).
It is a collection of information, samples & tools for use by developers.
Sample Applications include Portal Data Viewer, OBN, WebDynPro, HTMLB, EPCF & few more.
3). SAP NetWeaver Visual Composer.
It is a powerful tool for creating the Portal contents using a visual interface rather than stressing more on writing code.

Hi! I'm trying to find a software tool for graphically visualizing the class structure of a system, like for example the PRAWN tool where the view presented to the developer mimics the appearance of a UML class diagram with a node and arc graph... but any other could be fine..

JUDE Community edition is a wonderful UML tool. Price is right, too.
It might not plug into NetBeans or Eclipse, but it does a wonderful job of round trip engineering, and it supports all the important diagrams.

Capturing Computer Monitor video for use in FCP project.

I'm working on an industrial film for a company that makes websites, and they want to put in video clips of their websites. I'm looking for a good program that will allow me to capture my desktop and make FCP ready videos. It doesn't need to be free, it just needs to do what I need. I'm also looking for the right settings to set for those movies for use in a standard DV NTSC project.

If you have data guard broker license then your enterprise manager have all this informations to give !
If you don't have the license then enterprise manager will not have that.
edit:
on enterprise manager: database -> choose oyur databse -> availability -> data guard (menu) -> Setup and manage -> ask you to use data guard broker (or not if you database is registered into data guard broker)
