Software Transfer?

I am currently thinking of getting a second laptop. I currently have an ibook g4. 5'm looking at an ibook or if i can run to it a macbook pro. So my question is, i have office for mac on my g4 would i have to buy it again for a new machine/ Is my software transferrable?

The license will be for one machine, so you can install the software on the new computer, but you would then have to remove it from the old computer. You certainly wouldn't be able to run them at the same time, since the software would find each other over the network, tell you that your license is being used twice, and quit.

    Very easy. Tell me what version Photoshop you have and I'll direct you to the proper downloadable installer file.
    Have your serial number ready. You can activate on 2 computers, so don't deactivate the old one until you are updated and sure it works on the new one.
    As a side note: You never copy or transfer Photoshop to a new computer, you have to install.

    I can't find out how to transfer an audiobook I borrowed from the library (it's on my PC and plays on it) to my iPod Touch2 4th generation. I have the device linked via the PC's USB port via the cable connector, and iTunes shows the device on the software page, but when I try to transfer the book I get a message from the Overdrive Media console software (which is the necessary software to download from the library)  advising me that  a setting on the iTunes must be changed to allow the tranfer between my PC to the iPod. Something about choosing "manually", but I cannot find anything on the iTunes page that allows me to do this. I can't see it in help or tutorials, or anywhere. Can you provide an answer to this dilemma for me please. Thank You, in advance, Pat C 

    Pat, to find it see Paragraph 3, in the summary below.
    Many libraries worldwide now use Overdrive Media Console, which comes in Mac an Windows versions http://www.overdrive.com/Software/omc .  Some find the mobile device transfer process confusing.  To load or delete a WMA or MP3 (Macs can only download MP3 books) audiobook onto an Apple mobile device see the "How to Transfer to a Portable Device" video in the guides at Step 7, then do the following.
    1. For Windows versions, you must first do a security update of Windows Media Player (even though you won't be using it) using Internet Explorer at http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/indivsite .
    2.  Open iTunes, plug the mobile device into the computer USB port and open the Overdrive Media Console.
    3. Highlight the mobile device in the left hand menu of iTunes and insure the "Manually manage music and videos" box is checked in the Summary Tab. If the mobile device storage is full, transfering will delete that portion of music necessary for the ebook.
    4. Highlight the book you want to transfer in the Overdrive Media Console and click the Transfer Button.   A window opens permitting you to click the boxes for parts of the book you wish to transfer.
    5. After the book has been transfered, when you click the disclosure triangle (arrow) to the left of the iPod, iPhone, or iPad in the Device section of the left hand menu of iTunes, MP3 books will show up under the Music subsection and WMA books will show up in the Books subsection.  Once the mobile device is disconnected from iTunes, MP3 books will show up in the Songs list of the mobile device and WMA books will show up in the Books list.
    6. To remove a book from a mobile device plug the device into the USB port and open iTunes. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of your iPod, iPhone, or iPad in the Device section of the left hand menu of iTunes so that you can see the device’s subcontents. For an MP3 book select the Music subsection, right click on the book and choose Delete.  For a WMA book, select the Book subsection, right click on the book and choose Delete.
    7. The Overdrive Media Console Guided Tour (videos) is at http://www.overdrive.com/Solutions/Libraries/tour/MenuWelcome.html .  The "Portable Devices" and "How to Transfer to a Portable Device" videos are there.
    8. To find a nearby library for ebooks search http://search.overdrive.com .  You can download the software, search for books and see tutorials without an account at the website of any library that uses Overdrive, however, you need a library card to download books.  At this library site, for example, the software and guided tour are at the bottom of the left hand menu.

    Deactivate it from your old computer and then reinstall it on the new one and activate it. Use the CD that the software came on or the backup CD you made when you downloaded (didn't backup, you may be in a lot of trouble in that case).

    I have just bought a Macbook pro after using a Macbook for the last 5 years. I installed new Office software under one user account and stupidly transferrred all working information/documents across via migration assistant with another user account - how do I please carry across the new office software to the other account?

    I don't use Office, so can only offer generic advice. 
    Did you install the Office apps in the main, top-level Applications folder, or in an Applications folder inside that user account?
    If you're not sure, some installers give you the option of installing for everybody, or only the user account you're on at the time (the exact wording may vary). 
    If it was installed for a single account, is that an account that you'll be using otherwise, or is it an "extra" account you really don't want to use at all?

    So my ipad is full and I'm trying to make some space to download some movies. I'd like to download the music I have from my Ipad to my mac since most of my music is on my ipad vs my mac. Most of my music wad not purchased on itunes so i can not sync the ipad and download it. Any good suggestions on a software transfer for me to try?

  • I am unable to update software or backup my devices. Apple techs unable to resolve the issue after hours of phone support over the course of several months.

    I am unable to update software, transfer purchases, sync, or backup any of my 3 devices. I have tried using iTunes on other computers, uninstalling iTunes with tech support walking me through, using a different user on my computer, deleting photos off of my devices, using an ethernet cable instead of connecting with wifi, uninstalling my antivirus software and firewall, and had my laptop examined by several techs who all determined there was nothing wrong with the laptop that explains what has been going on. I am also unable to view or download purchases on iTunes.  Clicking the Itunes store results in a blank white screen. I get various error messages, including -9886. Apple techs and now the engineers have been unable to resolve the issues thus far, even after several hours of phone support over the course of several months (about 5 hours this month alone). I have done everything they've suggested, even when they've suggested I do something over again, and I'm becoming frustrated. I would greatly appreciate any advice you can offer. Thank you in advance for your time.

    Sorry for hijacking your thread as put by Dahveed. However I have resolved my issue so I thought I'll share it with the rest of you.
    I checked for the error 3194 in youtube and I found some good videos that tell you how to resolve the problem. The issue I was facing was the actually (I know because I have resolved it now) the communication between my computer and apple server which can be fixed as following (if you are using windows):
    There is file in following directory:
    C:\Windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts
    The file normally has no extension and it is in file format. You need to open it and make sure that every line that has apple server id starts with "#". In my case one of the line started directly with the ip address and then gs.apple.com.
    Perform your restore/update after that and hopefully it should be resolved (mine did).

    There are two ways of updating your phone software. 
    1.     Via phone, OTA (Over the Air).
    Your phone has a built in application for updating your phone software. This application is called Update Center and can be found in your application drawer or via Settings > About phone > Software update. This application can scan for new software, notify about new software and also install new updates. But note that sometimes Update Center can only notify you about new phone software but not install it. This depends on the update itself and if it can be installed OTA or if the phone needs to be connected to a computer to perform the update. If this is the case you will be informed about that in the notification given to you by the Update Center application.
    Update Center will also inform you about the size of a new software update. If it’s a larger update, connecting to a Wi-Fi network is always recommended before downloading the update. This way you can save download data from your network subscription and also download time.
    If you don’t have access to any Wi-Fi network and experience problems doing a software update OTA please be aware of that some network operators doesn’t support FOTA (Firmware Over the Air). So if you’re trying to update your phone OTA via mobile networks make sure that your network operator supports FOTA. If yes and you still experience problems downloading the update check if your APN settings have any Proxy details that could block the download. You can check this in the following menu. Settings > More (Wireless & networks) > Mobile networks > APN or Access Point Names > Your Internet APN. Check if any details are set for Proxy and Proxy port. If yes you can try to delete them (temporarily) and save the APN. Now try downloading the update again.
    2.     Via computer
    You can use our programs, PC Companion (PC), Update Service (PC) or Bridge for Mac (Mac) to scan, install and repair phone software.
    PC Companion is your general managing program for the phone if you’re running on a PC computer.
    PC Companion has several other features besides updating software such as backup, sync etc.
    Update Service is a simple program for just updating and/or reinstalling your phone software.
    Bridge for Mac is the alternative for our Mac users. It’s similar to PC Companion. Bridge for Mac lets you, update the phone software, transfer/sync media files and backup your phone.
    If you experience any problems doing a software update via computer, please check the following.
    -       USB ports. If you don’t get any connection with the phone try to connect your USB cable to another USB port on your computer. If you’re using USB 3.0 ports make sure that you have installed the main board manufacturer drivers for them. Still not working please see the USB connection FAQ topic.
    -       Internet connection. If your Internet connection is using a Proxy please check that the Proxy settings are correct in PC Companion by going to Settings for PC Companion in the top right corner > Proxy settings.
    -       Firewall. Please make sure that no firewall blocks Internet communication. Check ignores list or temporarily disable the protection when doing the update.
    -       Anti-Virus. Please check that no security software is blocking the program from running or communicating with the Internet.
    If you get a message saying that your phone already has the latest software even if you have seen on the web that a later software version is available, this might not be an error. But as described above, it might not be released for your device just yet. Reasons for this please see beginning of this post.

    Some things you can try:
    1. See if software update works from another account.
    2. Boot in safe mode.  See if SU works.  If so, reboot normally and try again.
    3. If those don't work maybe you need to delete the software update cache.
        ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate/
    Note there are two plists assocated with SU but I don't think deleting them will change anything since there is nothing significant in them.  They are,
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.XXXXXX.plist
    where the X's are a sequence of hyphenated upper case leters and digits.

    You can set up payment methods for ACH and wire transfers in tcode FBZP. Those are used in F110.
    1. Select the payment method for wire or ACH when running F110. It will create a file for you to use for the banks.
    2. Setup paying company codes, house banks and accounts, bank determination, country and company payment methods and bank selection. You will have to use program RFFOUS_T for doing the ACH payment.
    3. You then do an FTP using the banks software transfer file and select the file you created and then send it to the bank.
    4. For wire transfer configuration please use Payment Method T and Payment Program RFFOUS_T also you can use program RFFOEDI1. To customize the program please read program documentation.

  • Wire transfer missing?!

    I ordered a Y510p Lenovo laptop, I received a confirmation about this order and also the necessary information needed for a wire transfer (via a Lenovo REP). 
    I wire transferred a X amount of USD to Lenovo on 4 Feb. 2014.
    I suppose the amount should have been received by this time, but I never received any response. 
    I have tried to e-mail, no response. I tried the chat, I got referred to the Lenovo Credit Card Services. I tried the e-mail option via the website, and again was referred to the Lenovo Credit Card Services. The problem with the Credit Card Services is that they seem to not answer their phones very well. I have tried to call multiple times and have been on the line for 25+minutes and still there was no answer. Due to other more pressing matters I couldn't devote more time to waiting until one of staff members would finally answer their phone.
    The problem now is that I seem to have become responsible for sorting things out on the Lenovo side of things, I don't really get this shift in responsibility. Every time I contact support I'm referred to the phone number of the Lenovo Credit Card Services (1-800-426-3325).
    I would highly appreciate it if Lenovo would either:
    - Complete my order, for which I have paid the full amount required.
    or
    - Inform me about the status of my order, payment and/or the timespan in which Lenovo will inform me about this situation.
    or
    - Cancel the order and refund the full amount.
    I'm looking forward to your reply. (I will be able to PM all necessary details.)

  • Can't import video clips using Transfer Utility LE

    I'm experimenting with my new VIXIA HF R50 camcorder.  Having trouble getting the scenes onto my computer.  Is it necessary to use Transfer Utility LE with this camcorder, or can I import them using my video editing software - Studio 16 Ultimate?  I tried the latter, and it hasn't worked yet, but then nothing is working.

    When saving movies on a computer, you can use Transfer Utility LE for AVCHD movies and ImageBrowser EX for MP4 movies.
    Saving AVCHD Movies
    With Transfer Utility LE, you can save to your computer the scenes you have recorded. Download the software and install it before you connect the camcorder to the computer for the first time.
    1. Power the camcorder using the compact power adapter.
    2. Camcorder: Press < > to set the camcorder to Playback mode.
    3. Camcorder: Open the desired index screen for AVCHD movies.
    4. Connect the camcorder to the computer using the supplied USB cable.
    NOTE : Camcorder: When the [Select the memory for connection] message appears, touch [All (for PC only)].
    5. Computer: Double-click the icon shown below to open the software Transfer Utility LE.
    6. Use Transfer Utility LE to save your AVCHD movies.
    Saving MP4 Movies and Photos
    When saving MP4 movies to a computer for the first time, it is necessary to install theImageBrowser EX software..
    1. Power the camcorder using the compact power adapter.
    2. Camcorder: Press < > to set the camcorder to Playback mode.
    3. Camcorder: Open the [Movie Playback] index screen for MP4 movies or [Photo Playback] index screen.
    4. Connect the camcorder to the computer using the supplied USB cable.

  • Two separate Macs - transfer CS2 photos to CS4 via CD?

    A very (embarrassingly) basic question, but a bit different than any previously asked (I think - have searched for hours) -
    Computer #1 - only has CS2, cannot be upgraded, not online
    Computer #2 - will have CS4
    (The computers are not connected) Can you burn CS2 Photoshop files to a CD on the first computer, insert that disc into the second computer, and open the files in CS4?
    Please forgive the dumbness of the question, but your answer will determine if I can proceed. Thank you so much in advance.

    I'm not saying it well, I apologize. I am not talking about software transfer, only files.
    If I create files in PS CS2 on one Mac (saved as CS2), can I burn them (the created files) to a CD and open them in CS4 on another Mac.
    Edit: oops! I type very slowly, and you answered in the meantime, Michael. Thank you, but does that mean that CS4 can open CS2 images that are opened from the desktop, not directly imported from CS2? (if I'm using the right terms)

  • How do I move firefox from one hard drive to another with all of its preferences with it ( bookmarks, Facebooks, Menu bar, ect. )?

    I put in a bigger hard drive and want to move fire fox to the new drive. Both drives are now in the computer. The computer is a Mac Pro (early one ).

    2. Rescue and recovey is a windows tool or built in IBM tool.
    3. Would it tranfer the program as well and also the hidden partition for the laptop.

    I went to the website for the given software and checked out its feature. My only question is would the software transfer the existing and hidden partition when it is moved to the new HD.
