Software Update doesn't see iTunes 10.6.3 update

I'm having problems updating iTunes. I'm currently on version 10.6.2, and have been notified several times that a newer version(10.6.3) is available. However, when I choose the option to download the update, the Software Update utility will lauch, but tell me that there are no software updates available. The same thing happens when I choose the Check for Update option from the iTunes Menu. I'm running Mac OS X 10.7.4 on a Retina Macbook Pro.

With that one, I'd try updating using a .dmg installer downloaded from the Apple Website:

Just delete it from the Applications folder, and re-download it.
If it still says installed when you go to Purchased in App Store, click somewhere else, and option-click Purchased. That allows you to redownload already installed software.

  • Shuffle On Desktop/Updater doesn't see iPod

My iPod Shuffle shows up on the desktop. The amber recharge light is blinking. When iTunes opens, I get the following message: "iTunes has detected a software update for the iPod. Would you like to install it now?" When I click "Okay", the updater opens and I get the following message: "An unexpected error occurred". When I click "okay", the updater now tells me to plug in an iPod to update it. My iPod is plugged in and charging, and is on the desktop. When I quit the updater, my iPod does not appear in the iTunes source list.
I then quit and reopened iTunes. This time when prompted regarding the software update, I click cancel. iTunes now opens with my iPod listed in the Source list. However, when I go to add songs to the iPod I get the following message: "Some of the songs in the iTunes music library were not copied to the iPod because your iPod software is too old. Go to www.apple.com/ipod to get the latest iPod software update."
I've reinstalled the updater 3 times now. I got the same results as described above each time. The updater doesn't see the iPod. What is the "unexpected error"? Why doesn't the Updater see the iPod?
    Thanks for any help.

I just downloaded the latest updater version, plugged in my iPod Shuffle, and sat in wide eyed amazement as it actually recognized that the iPod was, in fact, plugged into the computer!!!
I held my breath while the updater did it's thing... could this actually be it? Could I finally join the army of gleeful millions, listening to my favorite tunes and newscasts while jogging? Would the wonderful little gift I got for Christmas finally - gulp! - work?
Alas, no. Just as the updater was finishing up I got the following glass if ice water in my face:
"An error occurred updating or restoring iPod. Disconnect iPod, reconnect and then try restoring again. If that does not work, go to http://www.apple.com/support/ipod"
I did that, and noticed that "restoring" was not an option, as the "restore" button wasn't active. Ah well... my iPod shuffle goes back into it's neat little packaging, and back onto the shelf while I await the next round of potential solutions to slowly work their way down to the Discussions Sub-basement.
I swear to God, I will not give up on this. I know it can work. Someday, someday...
    Gee

Also also - I ordered, received, and installed an Iogear 4 port USB 2.0 pci card, hoping against hope that that would solve the issue. It didn't. I've been working on this since the day after Christmas. The problem seems so uniquely simple, and yet I've never been more frustrated with an Apple product.
Why won't the updater recognize my iPod and allow me to install the software? I personally believe that there is some communications glitch between iTunes 6.0.1, OS 10.3.9, and iPod updater. Any word on new versions coming out of the Apple bat cave?
    Thanks for any help.

  • TS1591 iTunes doesn't see iPhone or iPad (all updates performed)

I just installed OS 10.8.2 and have the most recent version of iTunes on a two year old iMac.  I'm running iOS 6 on my 4s.  I'm running 5.1.1 on my third gen iPad.  I've restarted everything a couple times, but iTunes won't recognize the iPhone or iPad.  iPhoto does see and will transfer photos off the iPhone.  The phone charges and no further software updates are available.  I've gone through Apples Troubleshooting Assistant.  Any ideas?

I think you skipped a step:

I know the article says for 10.6.8 and earlier but, like I said, maybe AppleMobileSupport.pkg hasn't been deleted to the Trash.

  • Apple Software Update doesn't see connected HP printer. Need new driver

I recently installed OS X 10.7 Lion on my MBP, from Mountain Lion. I am working at a remote location and for a while and want to connect to a nearby HP LJ1320 (USB-only) printer. When I connected it, System Preferences detected it, listed the desired driver as "LJ 1320 series" and started a "Finding software" routine. It stopped and said software not found.  When I went to support area of HP site, the offered no direct download link for 10.6-8, but instead steered me to ASU (Apple Software Update) as my driver solution. When I run ASU, I don't get any listing for updated printer drivers, HP or otherwise. I'm lost in an endless do-loop here that leads nowhere. Should I be looking at some open-source driver instead?

Typically that requires a special patch, but those are only provided to certain printers.  I know what's keeping you from being able to install though.  The database on your Mac that tells it what is and isn't compatible is out of date.  What you will need to do is:
Disconnect the printer from the Mac.
    Run Apple Software Updates.
    Restart the Mac.
Once the Mac is back on, connect the printer to it, and add the printer's queue to the list.
That should be all that needs to be done.  Let me know what happens.

  • Error in App Store updates (can't see iTunes 11.1.4)

    Hi,
I can't get the latest iTunes update.  My work iMac (2010) had no problem with this.
My home iMac (late 2012), tells me iTunes has an update when I do 'Check for Updates' in iTunes.  But, when it brings up the App Store, it's not there.
Also, I see this error once in a while:  The operation couldn’t be completed. (NSURLErrorDomain error -1012.)
    Any ideas?
    Regards, Patrick

    > during the entirety of this process the cursor was a "busy" pinwheel/beach ball/whathaveyou for a solid 30 minutes before I turned the computer off with the power button.
All that cursor means is that it is busy trying to do something.  You can see if force quitting solves the problem with a simple force quit using command-option-escape.  If you are having issues with iCal quitting, sometimes it doesn't always know whether or not it is properly communicating with a particular calendar.  This can be a Mobileme issue, or even a phone synchronization issue, or a network issue reaching a shared calendar.  Shutting down a machine directly from a cursor is the last step one should try, only after all others have failed.  If you have done this in the past, lurking corruption can get worse each time with the directory, and upgrading the system will only enhance any corruption already present.  When you restart your Mac, does everything appear to be normal?

  • TS1702 Garage Band App is in "waiting" stage. Will not download onto iPhone 4 with updated software (5.1.1) using iTunes with most recent update.

A friend gifted me the garage band application for my iPhone 4. I have updated the phones software (5.1.1) as well as the software for iTunes. However thee app has been stuck on "waiting" for days now.

Macintosh has never allowed the user to update and or utilize any app or feature if the Operating System was inadequate to do so. Your answer "iOS 6 requires 10.6.8 to run iTunes 10.7" is ineffective at this point and mute. The update should not have been aloud over Wifi or 3G Network to iPhone without the ability to authenticate resources required or needed to operate both iPhnoe iOS and Desktop OS together.
The issue, as has already been explained is that the version of iTunes on the computer will not work with iOS6.
iOS updates via Wi-Fi have nothing to do with iTunes on the computer and does not care what version is on the computer.  Personally, I find it completely moronic to update via Wi-Fi as there is really no option for backup or a restore from backup if the update fails.  To me, it seems like a great way for the user to create issues for themselves that do not need to exist.
As there is no officially supported method to downgrade the iOS, the only option left if syncing is desired is to upgrade iTunes on the computer.
I really do not understand why you seem so defensive about updating iTunes.  Update iTunes on the computer, then sync the device, if that's what you want.
If that's not what you want, other options include updating apps directly on the device via Wi-Fi or 3G or living with it as is.

  • Firmware update doesn't see Zen Micr

I was updating my firmware (to version 2), and for some reason it hung up during the update. After a reset of the ZM, Creative products refuse to recognize that the ZM is connected. Every time I plugged it in Windows would start installing software, one of which was MTP, which hangs during installation because the ?Device did not respond in a timely manner?.
So I went into the recovery menu, and did a clean up, format, and reloaded the firmware.
Now it'ss the same thing, except I get nothing but the recovery menu. I?ve tried this on two computers now. I plug in the ZM, windows detects it and starts installing software, but Creative products (MediaSource and both firmware updates) don?t recognize that the player is plugged in. Same problem regardless of which USB2 port it is plugged into.
I?ve tried it on WindowsXP SP and Windows 2k3. I?m currently downloading new version of MediaSource for players with v2 installed, but I doubt that will allow me to flash my firmware. Only two hours left on the download......

    This is the OP.
I had no luck. I found another topic about this problem here and continued posting there. Basically, I did a complete fresh install of the software and Micro on two different machines, one running Windows 2k3 and the other Windows 2000 Pro. Exact same problem on both. I have opted not to mess with it anymore, since I really don't have the time, and just RMA it back to Newegg. I got the thing to play music during work, not to spend hours looking for answers to a problem on the precious few hours I get off of work.

  • Updated Iphone 4 and Itunes 11.. cannot update checked music and apps

    Computer uses Windows 7.
Iphone is a version 4 with IOS 6.0.1 loaded.
Itunes is the latest version of 11.
I noticed my new Ipad mini has no issue with connecting to Itunes and it does read what apps I want removed and added.
The Iphone 4 however is having issues.  I notice that Itunes locks up a lot which could possibly be an issue with the computer but unclear.
I have certain songs checked..when going into the music section prior to connecting the phone.
When the phone is connected I can see the settings for the phone and in the general part I have tried different configurations.. I tried sync checked audio and video only...I have redone it with checking manually control of music/video.
I noticed based on which of those two are checked it will either check or uncheck the actual sync box in the music tab for the phone.  If in the music tab of the phone that is checked....it gives me different things to click like "Band" or "Album" and still disregards any selection I make there and will not change the present music in the phone.
My issue is overall it completely disregarding the audio selections and keeping whatever audio is on the phone where its at.  It will not add the new CDs I purchased to the phone even though they are checked in Itunes.  The apps are not updating either...In the phones app tab it says it will remove apps but does not and will not add other either.
Version 10.7 seemed to be glitchy for me as well...it seemed I had to do 2 syncs to get it to accept my choices but would accept them.
    Am I missing a setting?

After upgrading i06 on iphone 4 and Itunes 11 on pc
Does anyone know how to solve why the apps sync starts installing apps on the IPhone, blue bar gets to mid point for each app (even 1 app) then hangs i.e. fully clears the blue bar as if it hasn't started. Occurs on cable connection and Wifi sync.
This then stops you from installing any apps as the hung app shows installing but not doing anything.
Installing new apps is fine however.
    cheers

  • Best update method for iOS: iTunes or built in updater

What's the best method to update iOS software: iTunes (which downloads the whole thing) or the built in updater in the iOS? I've only used iTunes so far, but you always seem to have go through entering some info upon restart..

Either one works fine. If you use Software Update in your iPhone then the system is upgraded in place. But be sure you have a good Internet connection and you have your phone connected to a charger for best results.

  • I'm trying to update FIFA 13 via iTunes, so I clicked "update" and then "sync". It shows a load bar under FIFA, but it hasn't made progress for at least 30 minutes. Ideas/suggestions please!

It gives me the option to delete FIFA, but I would like to avoid this, in fear of losing my saved compitions and Ultimate Team.

When I try to snyc my iTouch after updating, it says that there was an error, and I can't update it from my iPod because it already is, but it's stuck or something. Still hasn't made any progress.
