Probably because you haven't updated iTunes to version 10.7. -
Is it possible to use Mac OS 10.8 server as a software update server for iOS devices
Hi guys - just trying to set up a corporate iPhone deployment, but we're out in West Africa and bandwidth is limited. I'm controlling initial app deployment, but what I don't want is everyone downloading the same copy of their apps over the internet, when (ideally at least) I could download them once on the 10.8 server and push them out from there (or have them pulled). Is it possible to set up OS X Server as an iOS Software Update Server?

Mattand there are size limits on downloads for 3G. There have been a number of posts in the past from users who were unable to download an app or movie or whatever via 3G due to too large a file size. Of course he could use a public wifi when needed, but these may also have download limits. Also, if he's a student, he might be able to use the school's wifi.

I have an iphone 4s. I have an alert that there is a software update available to iOS 6. When I got to the settings tab, the "download and install" button is not highlited and I can't click on it. Below that, it says that this update requires a Wi-Fi network connection to download. So I connected my phone to my computer and tried to update throug itunes. When I clicked the update tab on itunes on my laptop, an alert pops up that says I need to be connected to the internet for th update to take place. I am confused because I am connected to the internet, but for some reason the connection is not being recognized when I try to update.
I am using a Gateway laptop and my internet connection is a verizon 4g device that I plug into a USB port. I feel like this should be so simple but have not been able to figure it out even when I called Apple and spoke to a rep...help!In order to download to your phone over the air, you need to be connected to WiFi.
It's possible the Internet connection through Verizon is not stable enough for the downlaod to begin (it is a very large download).
You might want to head over to Starbucks with your laptop for the afternoon and see if you can download it over their WiFi. -

I have a hard time understanding why I can't contact support about THEIR problem. I plugged my iPhone into my pc. iTunes came up. It said there was an update available for the phone. I accepted that. Clicked on the "download only" because I didn't have the time to install it at that point. It downloaded but didn't stop. It continued to the 'backing up your iPhone' segment then froze. I waited at least an hour with no change. Finally I unplugged my phone..iTunes wasn't responding.I rebooted my pc then tried the same thing again. Same outcome even though I let it "Back Up" for 7-8 hrs while I slept. Same Story............... iTunes 10.4.0.80 is the software I'm using. When my phone is 'plugged' in what I see on it's face is "Sync in Progress".....for hours!

I have asked for your email address to be edited out. Posting your address in an open thread is a sure way to be bombarded by unwanted email, remember it will be here long after you have resolved your problem, for automated detection software to find.
If you want people to contact you, enable others to see your email address in your profile.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID, verify the changes, enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone".
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, verify it once again, delete the iCloud account from your device and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

While updating the iPhone 5 software from 6.1.3 to 6.1.4, the power failed. iTunes had just finished the backup and was beginning the software update. Now the phone screen says to connect to iTunes but the phone is not recognised when plugged in. Using Windows 7 and phone not recognised by computer, let alone by iTunes.
Any suggestions? Happy to take it off to the the Apple genius people but would prefer to get it running myself.

Windows Update keeps prompting to install an important update, KB2871690 and continually fails with error code 0x800f922
I ran all the fixes I can find, it still fails.
I also tried the manual install, fails.
Microsoft used to provide no charge support for Windows Update issues. They additionally offer online fixes for other versions of windows, but not server, and I can't find a forum.
I also cannot ignore the update, it continually prompts.
I ran the windowsupdate.diagcab and it continually states it fixes Windows Update error 0x80070057, by resetting windows update data store. It further states it fixes Problems installing recent updates.
But it doesn't. I've run it 50 times, and it says the same thing every time.
So there is no support for windows update, and no support for windowsupdate.diagcab.
What's the deal?I've done the SFC/ SCANNOW and DISM

Possible to create local "update server" for iOS and apps?
I use the software update server in OSX Server to locally cache updates, which speeds them up dramatically.
Unfortunately, the app store is still fairly slow.
Does anyone know if Apple has implemented the same sort of caching or update server for iOS devices? I think I read that there's a semi-transparent cache if you have an AirPort Extreme in your path to the Internet, but I don't and really couldn't even if I wanted to...
Thanks.If apple would get thier crap together it is supposed to be there already. It is really ******* me off that there little to no effort from apple to get all of this working PRE OS release. Had this worked properly before the OS update schools across the country would probably not been brought to thier knees. I ended up having to block the entier apple domain to keep District Office online.

By default your phone is set to automatically check for updates every 8 days and you will be notified when an update is available for download. If you want, it's possible to force the update check immediately by switching off and back on "Check via mobile data" setting from the “Phone update” menu. Thank you for the new nokia 501 update.
However I am interested to get another new update concerning:
1) Wireless configuration:
It will include security mode of 802.1x, and EAP plug-in settings such as EAP-LEAP, EAP-PEAP, etcc....
2) Keep applications minimized instead of closed:
Sometimes there are some applications need to be minimized and not to be closed
Ex: Applications such Athan, Prayers, Quran, etccc...
3) Some Applications menu not working with screen touch but working with key buttons
There are some applications that you cannot use the screen touch under the menu
I will be greatful if the software will finalize the above suggestions

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic device software update issu...
Hi all,
I can't update my phone's device software whatever via cell phone or Nokia Software Updater application. My phone's software version is 31.2.101 and the latest software release for Nokia 5800 Xpress Music is 50.0.005. Every time I will get "No update available".
Also, anyway can install language pack? I am looking for the chinese language pack for this phone. Many thanks!Try the search tool

0575590 INDIAHi I bought my new Nokia C3-00 mobile yesterday. It is very good in functions, but the problem I felt is that there is no control to adjust the brightness. I searched all over the net and couldn't find a solution. That's why came here to put a suggestion. Why the Nokia people didn't made such a basic function in some phones.
Is any firmware update have this function ?
Also, my phone has version 7.20, RM-614. Nokia now announced that a firmware option 8.63 is available. So I checked for software update directly from my phone using the software updater. It founded a software update and downloaded it. After downloading, it begin to install by restartign the phone, But after restarting, before installing, the message displayed that Unable to Install. Why like this ?I tried it 2 3 times. The same with he case of OVI. Nokia, please consider the needs of customers. -
Software update ask for a restart before installing the updates. After the restart password is asked. When given the computer is restarted but the software updates have not been installed. How come?

I noted that one of the updates in the list for my wife's iMac was an update to Software Update itself. Probably to fix this very problem. But it wasn't being applied due to Software Update itself not working.
I considered two solutions.
(1) Uncheck all the updates except that one update to Software Update. Then after fixing Software Update, apply all the other updates remaining. I did NOT try this approach.
(2) Download and install the "combo update" for 10.6 -- from here

I decided to try solution #2. It's a large download, 1 GB, but the whole process took less than 15 minutes. The "combo" update checks and reapplies every update since the beginning of 10.6, so if something is missing or amiss, it gets filled in. It's done manually, by downloading the update, opening the .dmg file, and running the update. When I did this, it fixed the Software Update issue because I then reran Software Update and additional, new updates were found and they all installed fine. Software Update was working as it should. I then ran it a third time and some additional ones were found, also then successfully applied. Finally, no new updates were found by Software Update, which mean everything is up to date.
I can't be sure if your issue is the same as mine (the bug in the CNET article above) but I'm guessing that the combo update will resolve your issue.
