Software update makes sound go crazy

Hi All,
since my upgrade to 10.4.8, my internal soundcard produces a muffled sound, rather then a clean crispy sound. My external card (002R) still works fine. I can't find any settings (like an EQ) in system preferences, only volume control and soundcard selection.
greetz,
Tim.

  • Problems after software updates - iTunes, Sound, Clock and General

After applying the update to iTunes (7.6.2), it has almost exclusively crashed straight after start up, or after a few seconds of playback. Twice it's worked for a short period, but then crashed when I plugged my iPod in.
I get this in the Problem Report:
    Exception Type: EXCBADACCESS (SIGBUS)
    Exception Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE at 0x0000000000000008
    Ire-installed it to no avail.
A couple of days later I carried out most of the other updates, and ever since things are running slow. Everything down to the trackpad movement is sluggish, even choosing a user and entering my password falters and stalls. Sound seems to skip and struggles to be played if at all, and absurdly my clock is losing time, at a rate of about 50 minutes every hour.
Taking the battery out and holding down the power button temporarily(about 10 minutes) resolved the sluggishness, after which point it slowed back down.
These are all the software updates carried out over the last week:
    +iTunes 7.6.2+
    +Macbook EFI Firmware 1.1+
    +iMovie 7.1.+
    +Keynote 4.0.2+

I'd be very grateful for any help or pointers as to what may have cause the problems, and how I might go about rectifying them.

I just updated with the latest software updates. Right after I've done the necessary restarts I try to connect to a wlan and I get connected but the memory usuage of airport goes up to 1,3GB and cpu usuage 99% (see image). Here are the software updates I installed.
    2007-05-10 10:44:02 +0200: Installed "QuickTime" (7.1.6)
    2007-05-10 10:44:06 +0200: Installed "Battery Update" (1.2)

    2007-05-10 10:46:19 +0200: Installed "Security Update 2007-004 (Universal)" (1.1)
Anyone knows what's going on and how I can solve this?

Okay strangely enough, after repairing disk permissions (though it only found an error in a log file, nothing with airport) it seems to work now.
What is strange is that the airport process no longer exists in Activity Monitor. Oh well everything works as normal again

  • Last software update makes mail hyperlinks crash safari.

Don't let the windows people taht u know about this, but just ran a Safari update and a firmware update for my NVIDIA GeForce GT 130 graphics card. Now, clicking on hyperlinks in an AppleMail messages shuts down safari. after it's shut down, can double click on the same link and successfully open the desired page.
Also, the screen does not seem as bright and the text is more dark gray with less contrast then the pure sharp black it was before clicking on software upgrade.
    anyone else having this problem?

    Thank You for your reply.
Good idea, I repaired permissions ( after the fact). That didn't work but i haven't restarted the machine yet. I'm currently finishing u a Final Cut project so I will hold off resetting the PRAM.
I can make new tabs but I can't create a new browser page . Also, before the update i noticed that the tool bar is shifted to the right about 2 inches and I can't force it back .

  • Last software update makes my Limewire bounce in the dock and not open-HELP

Second time this has happened...come on apple updates! When I downloaded an update in May I had this same problem. I go to open my Limewire and it just bounces in the dock and stops and doesn't open. I was suggested to download a Java update and I did and it worked - however I have tried a few different ones and it doesn't work...HELP!!!

Someone with a similar problem solved it here:

Probably Limewire needs to be updated to be compatible with Quicktime 7.0.4.

  • Since the latest software update, every third or so time I turn it on, my sounds settings are changed and I cannot listen to anything-music, YouTube, nothing. I can sometimes change something and it will work, but right now nothing is working. Anyone else

Since latest software update, my sound settings are changing sometimes when I turn on and cannot hear anything. All controls are useless and cannot be activated. After changing several things, I have been able to make it work, but today nothing is working. Anyone else experience this  and have any ideas?

    Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

  • Error when trying to use Software update

I was trying to update the software on my Powerbook when I get the following message from the software update:
Make sure you have permission to write to /tmp/501/Temporary Items/com.apple.Software Update, then try again.
Does anyone know what this means or how to fix it? Thanks!

    Hi Again Lille!
The first thing you should do is run Repair Permissions, and then try Software Update again.
If that doesn't help, there are some other things to look at.
TO REPAIR PERMISSIONS ON THE STARTUP DISK
1.Open Disk Utility, located in Applications/Utilities, and select the startup disk in the left column.
    2.Click First Aid.
3.Click Verify Disk Permissions to test permissions or Repair Disk Permissions to test and repair permissions. (I never "Verify". Just run "Repair".)
Rerun RP until the only message it reports is:
"We are using special permissions for the file or directory ./System/Library/Filesystems/cd9660.fs/cd9660.util.
    New permissions are 33261"
This is a status message and not a cause for concern. You may safely ignore it.
    Or these:
"We are using a special uid for the file or directory ./private/var/at/jobs. New uid is 1"
"We are using a special uid for the file or directory ./private/var/at/spool. New uid is 1"
Again, these are status messages, which appeared after Security Update 2005-001.
There may be others that you can ignore. Complete list at link below.
    Spurious Permissions Errors Using: 10.3.x
When "Repair Permissions" is complete. Quit "Disk Utility".
    Good Luck!

  • Issues downloading software updates

When I go to update software on my early 2011 MBP running OS X 10.6.8, nothing actually updates. When I click "show details" and then "Install 18 items", I am prompted to install an SMC and EFI firmware update, which I click install for. Immediately after that, I am prompted to restart my computer to finish the instillation. However, nothing was downloaded in the first place. I have restarted the machine, and there is no grey screen or anything, I am just placed at a screen where I need to enter my password to access my computer. Upon entering my password, I appear at my desktop, and everything is the same as it was before.
My question is, why isn't anything being downloaded or installed to my machine, even though I believe I am following through with the correct procedure for intalling updates?

Also you might need to do a permissions repair: Go>utilities>disk utilities> select disk (left colum, usually Mac HD or what ever you might have named it). Hightlight that disk, click repair permissions, if they are a mess it might take while.
Do the permissions first, then go to the site and try the 10.6.8. combo up date.
Run software update, make notes of what it wants to update, you might have to do them one at a time directly from the Apple support site.
Have you tried the 10.6.8 combo update?
    http://www.apple.com/support/snowleopard/
Also do a backup before starting any of this.

    Hello,
Try to uninstall it, and re install it again.
When you are running Nokia Software Updater, make sure you exit Nokia PC Suite.

  • Software updates after Disaster Recovery

    Hey..
i hope someone can help me. After a SAN failure we had to reinstall/recover our SCCM 2012 SP1 (most roles on one machine, there are 2 SUP Roles - primary SUP is on a remote DMZ Server and secondary SUP is on the SCCM itself).
I had the Default SCCM but no Fileservice Backup. The Database was not affected.
So i reinstalled the Server from Scratch, configured the prereqs  like iis, wsus wds etc. and started the revovery wizard. Everything went fine and the restore was successful. Because of the missing Fileservice Backup i redistributed all content back
to the DP. So now nearly everything is working again but the software update are driving me crazy.
Even if i create a new update package and deployment the Update does not arrive on the client. To get our SCEP Clients up2date i created an auto approval rule for scep definitions on the wsus and this is working. So only Updates deployed through sccm are
    not working.
The Client sees the Update as "missing" in UpdateStore.log but never starts downloading or asking for a location. The UpdateDeployment.log says "no service window" but the deployment is set to ignore maintenace window. I can not find
    any other importand errors.
In CCM_Messaging.log there is a "WINHTTP_CALLBACK_STATUS_FLAG_CERT_CN_INVALID" message but IIS Logs on the Server says the 2nd attempt after the error is OK and as described before everything else is working.
    Here are some logs:
    https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=6B65DBF2183A9C27!173&authkey=!ANDa-M-KDSNGez8
My last idea is to reinstall all Update related components but i am not sure if this will help.
    regards
    Philipp

Yes, I know this is an old post, but I’m trying to clean them up. Did you solve this problem, if so what was the solution?
Since no one has answer this post, I recommend opening  a support case with CSS as they can work with you to solve this problem.

4s with latest software update will not power off, text will only vibrate, iPod only works with earphones. When I sync it with iTunes it works until power save mode starts, then back to not powering down, making text sounds, or playing iPod out loud.

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:

    Backing up, Updating and Restoring

  • No audio/sound on Blackberry Torch 9810 since performing software update to 7.1.0 bundle 1149

    Hello,
Please can someone help me.  I recently performed a software update on my Blackberry Torch 9810 to version 7.1.0. (Bundle 1149).  The update was successful, however since performing the update all audio on my phone has stopped working, in that ringtones, alarms, message notifiers have ceased to work.  I can make calls and can hear people on the other end of the phone, my handset also still vibrates, it has just lost all audio output.
My phone's profile is set to 'normal' and I do not have the 'silent' or 'all alerts off' functions selected.  I also have not dropped or damaged my phone and it has not received any water damage.
I've tried restarting my handset on several occasions and have performed battery pulls/removing and replacing the battery and still no joy!
I have tried to downgrade my software to the previous version, however my handset does not allow a downgrade function.
Please, please can someone help, as I am at a total loss as to what to do?!?!?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Emma

Take a look at the following.....
    http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/viewdocument.do?noCount=true&externalId=KB19915&sliceId=2&cm...
After show other versions, you can downgrade if you see the earlier version.  Or, you may want to just reinstall the latest version.
It sounds like you did the update OTA on the BlackBerry handset.  That is generally a bad idea right now.  Certainly it will improve in the future, but nowadays many people have troubles.

  • Software Update Server - Deleting old updates to make space for new ones

On Page 77 of the SystemImage_and_SW_Updatev10.4.pdf Apple recommends "deleting old updates to make space for new ones". I've looked and searched and yet to find a way to do this. The Server Admin interface and the command line options I've looked into don't appear to provide this option.
So I actually tried stopping the server, moving the updates from /usr/share/swupd/html to another location, starting the server, the server wouldn't start, moving the files back again, the server still won't start.
    1. Does anyone know how you're supposed to "Delete old updates to make space for new ones"
    2. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get Software Update service running again?

  • IPod Touch 4gen disabled "The iPod Software update server could not be contacted" Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active or try again later.  Please help!

My daughter forgot her passcode.  Her iPod Touch 4gen is disabled.  I've tried everything I've read online.  I get to the "Restore" part on iTunes and then I get the message, "The iPod Software update server could not be contacted.  Make sure your network connections are correct and your network connection is active or try again later."  How can this be so hard to do?  Why isn't there a simpler solution.  I live 2 hours from the nearest Apple store.  Any advice you may offer would be very much appreciated.

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

  • HT1600 After playing movie on netflix or purchased through itunes for a while, sound is garbled. people sound like robots. Stops if i retart/restore but, does it again. Software updated, wires all in.

After playing show purchased through itunes or playing netflix for a approximately 1 hour the sound is garbled. The people speaking soung like robots. I restart/restore and it happens again. Software updated and all connections are fine. What is the problem?? I plan on taking it back...

Doesn't sound right - if you've unpowered it to restore, and also restored I'd suspect a hardware issue if this gradually develops, perhaps heat related issues.
If under warranty get it looked at/replaced.
