Software update not updating .Mac to MobileMe

My wife's computer is still using .Mac and when i run software update it says everything is up to date even though we've never downloaded or installed the mobile me updates. I've run disk warrior thinking maybe there's some data issues, but everything came back clean. Any ideas???

I had to download the update from Apple and install it.

I've got a macbook and i currently have 10.5.4 system running. I'm having a problem with iTunes - currently it tells me I can't access the store because it tells me I need safari 4.0.3 or later to access. I should go to software update to upgrade. It then tells me on software update that I need to update to 10.5.8 and I click to install it. It seems to have downloaded and then tells me to restart the computer. When I do that a bar comes up saying installing but it gets stuck about 10% of the way across and the computer freezes. How can I get it to install properly - any ideas?
Would appreciate any help as really not very good at computer stuff.

And the question is?
A common problem for people with dial up. One good solution is to take a large smile and a blank CD to some one who has a high speed connection to the internet. Here is the procedure...
1. Equipped with very large smile and blank CD approach computer user who has high speed internet access.
2. Ask, pleasantly and with aforementioned smile, " Please may I use your computer to download some important updates for my computer? "
3. Assuming that the response is positive, navigate to required down load location and complete required downloads to desktop. Burn CD. Offer many thanks to other user. Maybe even offer to buy coffee.
4. Return home. Load CD. Install updates.
5. Done!

MacBook Air is not updating Mac OS X MobileMe

On my iMac, the standard Software Update had two MobileMe updates which changed the icon in the Systems Preferences to MobileMe from .mac . I noticed that this did not happen on my MacBook Air. Then this morning there was as second update to Mac OS X MobileMe 1.1 on my iMac, but again nothing on my MacBook Air. It's System Preferences still reads .mac . I am worried that there will be problems with the email, calendar and contacts pushing unless the MacBook Air is has properly updated software as well.

The mobile me update has not yet shown up for either my MBP or my MBA. I don't know what Apple is using for criteria for software updates for these. It does not make much sense since I do use my dotmac account.

Is magic mouse software update necessary if you have 10.6.8

I just bought a Magic Mouse and successfully paired it. It seems to be working fine and the system pref is visible and configurable. I've read that one should download and install the software update 1.0. Is that so?

Here are some details on the initial launch of that update. It includes a link but reading the last paragraph my guess is that after OS 10.6.2, the update was probably incorporated into the OS.

Do not delete the old account yet. sign up for an iCloud account if you haven't.

You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
          •          Server name: imap.mail.me.com
          •          SSL Required: Yes
          •          Port: 993
          •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
          •          Password: Your iCloud password
SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
          •          Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
          •          SSL Required: Yes
          •          Port: 587
          •          SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
          •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
          •          Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria: 8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers. If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message. Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.
If extensions aren't causing the problem, see below.

Mac not working right after software update. Please Help...

I turned on my computer today and first thing I was asked when I logged in was if I wanted to update my software because there is new updates available. So I click on update so my computer will stay up to date......Well big mistake Now I cant open my itunes, my safari, my quicktime player, or even my Microsoft word, everything is messed up I keep getting "program quit unexpectedly" from everything. I have been trying everything today to get my computer back to normal, but no luck. I have read something about "permissions not being compatible". I have no idea Im clueless I know nothing about computers. Please Help! I made a big OOOOOOps

It finally powered on after 3 battery pulls, but now it does not make or receive calls (((
Everytime I connect it to blackberry link it says software update available, so I clicked on install, it said downloading update and then nothing happens, the download bar becomes full then nothing changes
I also tried to reload device software, i got a message saying checking repair software and it stayed like that for 3 hours then the device rebooted but nothing happened at all
I even tried redoing the software update from the phone itself 3 times, everytime it would say update successful but the phone would still not make or receive calls

Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

As you have 10.5.8 you need to upgrade to at least 10.6.6 to get the App Store as this was the 1st version it came with.
A workaround is to get a friend who has 10.6.6 or better to download Lion for you without installing it. You can create an App Store account on the friend's computer I think to do this. Copy the Lion installer from that computer to a USB stick or burn it to DVD and you should be able to install it on your own computer, I think. You might have to create an empty partition on your own computer first for Lion installation as I'm not sure that it will install over Leopard.

Mac Book Software Update not working (Software Update does not have any new software for your computer at this time), my current MacBook version is 10.5.8.
As a result I can't update iTunes, version 10.5.2 (This software requiers Mac OS X version 10.6.8 or later)
Now when I connect my iPhone 4, version iOS 6 iTunes can't connect to iPhone (The iPhone "XXXXX's iPhone" cannot be used because it requiers iTunes version 10.6.3 or later.)
so in a nutshell can't use iphone 4, because iTune is not updated and will not update because Mac Book is not up to date and will not update either.

Snow Leopard is a paid upgrade. http://support.apple.com/kb/sp575 Call Apple to buy Snow Leopard. Then, make a backup, insert the DVD and upgrade. When it finishes, open  > Software Update

My Mac dropbox tells me "the selected printer software is available from Apple", but when I click to download it, the process ends with my mac saying the software is not currently available from the software update server.

Open Finder and click on Go > Go to Folder. Then type
/Library/Printers/Canon
and press Enter. This will show the BJPrinter and iJScanner folders. You could try moving or trashing this folder and then installing the driver that you downloaded from Canon again.

Click here, check that your computer meets the requirements, buy and install the DVD, and then run Software Update.
