Software update outside the country of purchase no...

I am new to this dicussion group but not to Nokia phones. I have owned 4 Nokia phones since I started using cellphones and I have regularly updated (whenever available) the software version of the phones using the Nokia Software Updater (NSU) pre-Ovi and now the Nokia Ovi Suite v 3.1.1.90.
I am currently based in Nepal but I had purchased my current Nokia phone, Nokia X7-00, in Singapore in July this year. While updating the software version from Symbian Anna v 22.014 to v25.007, which was shown available when I connected the phone on 2nd November 2011, using the Nokia Ovi Suite, the phone switched off automatically and never turned back on. At the start of the updating process, I had ensured the battery was at 100%. The phone switched off after completion of the download of the new update, and during the installation process. The Ovi Suite reported a loss of connection with the device, and advised me to hold down the power and menu button for ten seconds, and reconnect the device. I followed this but the phone failed to start. 
I reported this incident to Nokia Singapore via email, and I got a response which took me by surprise. The response states that the reason of failure could be because of the incompatibility of the software update available in my country with the phone bought in Singapore, even though they are of the same type. I quote, " With regard to this matter, we would like to inform you that it is advisable for you to update the phone software of your Nokia X7-00 in the country where the said Nokia device is intended to be sold in order to prevent issues in updating the phone's software. In your case, kindly be reminded that the software update that you had for your Nokia X7-00 is only compatible with devices that are intended for sale in the said country where you did the said update."
For people like me, who could be based in various locations for a significant amount of time, this is quite a disadvantage. If this is true, Nokia should be "advising" people a lot more about this country based software update restriction. Nokia Singapore has told me that in spite of this, their resources say that my device is still under warranty. It's a bit of a hassle but I have no choice.
Considering Nokia advertise and recommend their Ovi Suite tremendously, for software updates (along with the other advantages), I think they should also:
1.) be more informative regarding this restriction.
2.) make the Ovi Suite more "intelligent" by letting you update the phone with the correct update, regardless of the location. They should make the software update process more product-centric than location-centric. Is this not possible?

It seems that you have been given incorrect information by our contact centre, for which we can only apologise.
Fender77 is correct, when you update your device software, the system reads your phone's product code and delivers the correct software version for your device, where you happen to be in the world makes no difference.
It can occasionally happen that something prevents the update completing correctly. You could try to restart your non-functioning X7 device by holding down the green, red and camera keys, press the power switch. If the phone is able to star, keep the red, green and camera keys pressed at least until the Nokia handshake logo appears.
If this does not work, you would need to consult a local Nokia Care point to get your phone repaired.
