Software update says i have applications open when i don't
Software updater tells me I have applications open when I don't. Now I can't even shut down the installer. HELP!
Didn't the installer give you an opportunity to quit it when it gave you that message?
What were you updating?
You should be able to force quit the installer just like any other app but depending on what you were installing when it failed, and depending on where in the installation process it failed, you could leave your system in an inseminate state. That may mean you mght not be able to reboot.

Holding my breath, I went to purchase Keynote again (didn't want to pay the $20 a second time) and it comes up with the notice that it is already installed. But the new update does not show up in AppStore. Went to the website to download the update direct and when I go to install it, a warning comes up that there is no iWork '09 file in my Applications.

Why is my Ipod Touch 4th Gen saying i have headphones in when i don't?
Last night I was using my Ipod and it worked fine without the headphones. When I woke up this morning it isn't working, when I turn the volume up it says i have headphones in but I don't. I have already tried the trick with taking out and putting in the headphones and i have reset it like 5 times now.
You may have something stuck inside the headphone jack, blow inside a few times and see if that works. If not, restore the iPod. If that does not work, then that will indicate a hardware problem and you will need to get it fixed by Apple.

Asks me to install 6.06 but Software Update says I have it
I keep launching iPhoto (6.05) and it tells me an update (6.06) is available. I go to Software Update and check for an update and it says that I am up to date.
What's going on?

Go to HD/Library/Receipts and see if there's a pkg file there called iPhoto_606.pkg. If there is:
1. Confirm that you're on 6.0.5 (File -> About iPhoto)
2. Remove the 606 pkg file from HD/Library/ Receipts
3. Download the installer from http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/iphoto606.html

Text Software Updates. Anyone have an idea when it might be?
I love this phone but thats the bit that really annoys me coz i cant foward or text to multiple contacts. I cant believe it isnt possible on iphone when its a basic function on any other mobile i have had!
When people ask me about the phone as they are considering buying one, i always tell them about the texting and that is the off putting thing for most people!No idea..it's a known bug that some people are having and some arent...please..no one wants to hear from the people not having the problem..we get it..yours is perfect.
People have provided apple feedback and a very helpful user on here, ansuz has some link to the feedback area..the more people who post about it, hopefully, they'll understand its annoyance factor.
Then it's really up to apple as to when or if to fix it. -
CS6 will not update, say program is still open when it is not. How do I close it?
I tried to update CS6 and it crashed the computer.(Win 7- 64bit) After a System Restore, I still had to reinstall CS6. It works fine now, but refuses to do any updates. (Camera Raw 7, etc) It says "Please close the following applications to continue. Adobe Photoshop CS6 (Photoshop.exe)" The program is not open according to the Task Manager. I have been trying everything on the site. CC Cleaner for Adobe, et al. Please help, what am I missing?

I have an iphone 4s. I have an alert that there is a software update available to iOS 6. When I got to the settings tab, the "download and install" button is not highlited and I can't click on it. Below that, it says that this update requires a Wi-Fi network connection to download. So I connected my phone to my computer and tried to update throug itunes. When I clicked the update tab on itunes on my laptop, an alert pops up that says I need to be connected to the internet for th update to take place. I am confused because I am connected to the internet, but for some reason the connection is not being recognized when I try to update.
I am using a Gateway laptop and my internet connection is a verizon 4g device that I plug into a USB port. I feel like this should be so simple but have not been able to figure it out even when I called Apple and spoke to a rep...help!In order to download to your phone over the air, you need to be connected to WiFi.
It's possible the Internet connection through Verizon is not stable enough for the downlaod to begin (it is a very large download).
You might want to head over to Starbucks with your laptop for the afternoon and see if you can download it over their WiFi. -
Software update says I need to download MacOS 10.6.7. Each time I try, I have tried 6 times, the software downloads, it has me restart the system, it then writes the files to disk and then I get an error measage that "there was error in installing the softare. Anybody have this problem and how do you fix it? I am running 10.6.6
Try this before trying to install the update.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
If you still have a problem then I suggest you download the 10.6.7 Combo Updater and install it. -

This is what you do.
1. open app store.
2.go to the update tab.
Yuo will see the imovie icon waiting to install.
3.clic the sub menu tab and select "try apdate in an hour" option from the sub menu.
4.leave the app store window open and came back in an 1hr .
Like magic you will see the imovie app being upgrade it in the lunch pad .

Because you need to get Mavericks and then the current iWork applications from the Mac App Store and not Software Update.

I have the latest operating system, but can't get my printers added. Why does the software update say that drivers for my printers are not available? I have the drivers installed from the CD but can't add the printer because it wants to go through software update.
It's pretty difficult to offer suggestions when you say nothing about your Mac, the version of Mac OS it's running, or the models of printers you have. I get a message "The Itunes server could not be contacted, check your internet connection" when trying to check for Ipod Nano software updates. I have a 1st generation Nano and haven't updated the software for a while. My internet connection is working. Was thre a change in the internet address for NANO software updates? Do I have to reconfigure something in Itunes to point to the correct address?
What version of iTunes are you using? The latest is 10.6.3. In iTunes, choose Help -> About iTunes to check the version number. If it's lower than 10.6.3, download the latest version from here.

Have an older 17 MacBook Pro, running OS 10.5.8. Software update says everyting is current. Mac doesn't have iCloud, preferences still shows MobileMe. Just bought new iPhone 5S. Mac won't recognize phone, says I need newer version of iTunes. Have no problem with computer recognizing old phone 3 or 1-1/2 year old iPad. I suspect I need to update OS, but as software update isn't telling me to do so, can I? What version would I need to go to?
Your MacBook Pro can be updated to run Mac OS X "Snow Leopard". Buy it. That will enable you to run the latest iTunes version.

Any ideas how to get my software updated on my IPOD 3rd Generation when my computer times out? I have tried several times and it appears to take 30 plus hours. How Frustrating, not to mention the kids are too!
If the iTunes purchases are not in your iTunes library you can redownload them by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If you restore from backup, not that synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup and thus if those items are not in the iTunes library they can't be restored to the iPod during the latter part of the restore process.
