Software Update says "Up to date" when it's not
Lately, I've had several programs tell me an update was available but when I launched Software Update, it said everything was up to date. The most recent example is the Pages update from 3.0 to 3.0.1. Software Update does not see it, but Pages says it's out there. Any ideas?
I am on Leopard and was seeing the same thing. The issue ended up being that I had moved the applications out of the "iWork '08" folder and into the main Applications folder. I created a folder named "iWork '08" in Applications, moved the iWork apps into the folder and Software Update displayed the new updates.

It's not just iTunes you need to update...
You need to upgrade to Leopard v10.5.8 at the very least in order to sync, restore, and backup an iPod touch.

I have the latest operating system, but can't get my printers added. Why does the software update say that drivers for my printers are not available? I have the drivers installed from the CD but can't add the printer because it wants to go through software update.
It's pretty difficult to offer suggestions when you say nothing about your Mac, the version of Mac OS it's running, or the models of printers you have. This forum, however, is intended for questions about old, pre-G3 hardware, so unless you are asking about an very old Mac, this is not the forum where you'll be most likely to get help with your problem. I'd suggest you ask this question in the forum for your model of Mac or version of Mac OS X it's running. After installing Mavericks on my 2008 Mac Pro (10GBRAM, several HDs, 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon) Software updater says there is an update available. iMovie Apple Version 10.0 Released Oct 22, 2013.
So I click the UPDATE button
Software Updater puts up a dialog that says "Your computer’s video card does not meet the minimum system requirements".
I have ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256 MB. What card SHOULD I have?

This is what you do.
1. open app store.
2.go to the update tab.
Yuo will see the imovie icon waiting to install.
3.clic the sub menu tab and select "try apdate in an hour" option from the sub menu.
4.leave the app store window open and came back in an 1hr .
Like magic you will see the imovie app being upgrade it in the lunch pad .

I recently did an update for my iTunes and now when I try to open it, I get an error that says that my data execution prevention is not allowing it to open. How do I fix this issue?
Try updating your QuickTime to the most recent version. Does that clear up the DEP errors in iTunes?

My "software updates" are up to date. However, every website I go to, there's a notice that says I need to update my browser. I follow the options to download Safari on Apple, and it leads me to a page about software updates. (ie; click on the apple, then "software update..") It's frustrating because on some sites it barely loads anything anymore. Please help. Thank you.
You need to upgrade the OS or switch to a product such as Firefox.
To upgrade from 10.4 or 10.5, buy a retail Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store.
To upgrade from 10.6, your computer needs to have at least a Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and at least 2GB of RAM. Download Yosemite from the Mac App Store, or buy a download code for Lion from the online Apple Store.

This is really weird. I have iTunes version 10.6.1 and it says version 10.6.3 is available. I click to download and it opens Software Update. Suprisingly, software update says "All apps are up to date." What is wrong???

Apple Software Update says I'm up-to-date but I'm not.
Over the summer I downloaded a beta of an iTunes program for Mac. Eventually that program expired so I needed to download the real iTunes. I did, and it was fine up until about a week ago. I was told that I needed to update my iTunes. I said, yes, Download the new iTunes but Apple Software Update says i'm up to date! I think it's because I don't have my original iTunes anymore? How can I make it so that it recogznies my application again? Also, my screensaver for iTunes Album Art claims it can't find my library now? What should I do?

Software update says I need to download MacOS 10.6.7. Each time I try, I have tried 6 times, the software downloads, it has me restart the system, it then writes the files to disk and then I get an error measage that "there was error in installing the softare. Anybody have this problem and how do you fix it? I am running 10.6.6
Try this before trying to install the update.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
If you still have a problem then I suggest you download the 10.6.7 Combo Updater and install it. -
OSX 10.4.11 Updates to QuickTime and Java.

How can I update QuickTime and Java then without upgarding? I wish to keep a back channel to OS9Mac OS X Tiger was discontinued years ago, and if Software Update doesn't detect any new update, it's because you are running the latest Java and QuickTime version for Tiger.
Apart from that, I see that you have a G5, so the most recent Mac OS X version you can use is Mac OS X Leopard, another version that it's (or it's going to be) discontinued soon. PowerPC support is completely dead now, and if you want the most recent QuickTime and Java versions, you will need a Intel-based Mac with OS X Lion or Mountain Lion, that have got the latest Java 6 versions and they are compatible with Java 7 -
SCCM Reporting: Software Updates / Apllication the "Installed date" is missing or null in reports
When the “V_GS_Add_Remove_Programs” or “V_GS_Quick_Fix_Engineering” queried for installed date (the views that contains information on updates/application

2. As you can see from the machines X's add remove Programs installed Date is given clearly.
Appreciate your help on this as its for an audit report of windows updates and applications installed date, I know that some applications do not populate this value but my argument is if its visible from Programs and Features why isn't the data being collected.

Have an older 17 MacBook Pro, running OS 10.5.8. Software update says everyting is current. Mac doesn't have iCloud, preferences still shows MobileMe. Just bought new iPhone 5S. Mac won't recognize phone, says I need newer version of iTunes. Have no problem with computer recognizing old phone 3 or 1-1/2 year old iPad. I suspect I need to update OS, but as software update isn't telling me to do so, can I? What version would I need to go to?
Your MacBook Pro can be updated to run Mac OS X "Snow Leopard". Buy it. That will enable you to run the latest iTunes version.
