Software updates do not appear under Updates

Software updates do not appear under Updates in the Mac App Store.  So far, I have not been able to select or install the newest Yosemite update (10.10.1) and the latest iTune update.  What could be the problem?  Third party software shows and will update, like Evernote, but Apple branded updates do not appear.

Hello JAKE3POINT0,
After reviewing your post, I have located the page which includes the download of the 10.10.1 update. Applying the update may address the issue you are experiencing:

How do I download IOS5 onto a first generation ipad?  Software Update does not appear under General in Settings on the first generation ipad.

The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, if you have iOS 4 then you will need to do the update via your computer's iTunes.
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases. You may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button

An iPad 1 will update to iOS 5.1.1, and an iPad 2 and 3 to iOS 6.0.1 (the first gen iPad doesn't support iOS 6). If it is an iPad 2 or 3 then iOS 6 will remove the built-in YouTube app and the Maps app will change - though google have app versions in the store.

  • HT4623 Software updates does not appear on iPad under settings, general

    Trouble with down loading io5

You must use a cable to get to IOS-5.  Then, the "updates" option will appear under settings for future updating via WiFi.

  • Apple software updates does not appear to do its automatic checks?

I have itunes installed on two almost identical Windows 7 based PC's and I have noticed that on one PC the Apple Software Updates do not appear to do its job by checking for updates automatically. If I run the software manually it will show if an update is available and allow me to install it but I never seem to get prompted automatically by Apple Software Updates even though its set to check weekly.  My other PC does prompt.  Both PC's have pretty much exactly the same software installed including firewall.  Any reason why this would not appear to be working?  Any way of checking if its actually carrying out the checks?

The reason I suggested moving the files to the Desktop is because if none of these files are responsible for the problem, you can then put them back--or at least put back the com.apple.systempreferences.plist file, which would have many things in it besides the setting for Software Update. If it is the cause of the problem it would be a good idea to replace it and redo your settings. But if it is NOT causing a problem you would not want to figure out what all needs to be reset, instead you can put the old one back. The two plists from the ByHosts folders can probably just be trashed, and new ones created when you reset preferences for Software Update, although the scheduler might do something else (I don't have many things on auto schedule so I don't know, the only thing in mine is Software Update settings).

  • Why Software Updater does not install some updates automatically?

QuestionWhy Software Updater does not install some updates automatically?
AnswerSoftware Updater only installs security-related updates automatically. Non-security-related updates, and service packs installation are required to be initiated manually via the Software updates tab under the Policy Manager Console.
In Policy Manager 12, a checkbox Show non-security-related updates has been introduced under the Policy Manager Console > Software tab. Unchecking the checkbox hides the following update types:
    Microsoft security tools
    Non-security updates
    Service packs
Note: This checkbox is Policy Manager Console-specific setting. If you change the setting in one Policy Manager Console, it would not affect another Policy Manager Console connected to the same Policy Manager Server.

Updater does not detects 5800. I've reinstalled everything as it's stated (as, according to FAQ, sometimes the drivers may get corrupt). Restarted the PC. Nothing happened.
Presumably FOTA not an option for your 5800XM?

  • IPad app update does not appear to work

I have the new iPad with retina display and several days ago, I noticed that I keep getting bugged to update the app "CNBC Real-Time for iPad." When I accept the update, the app appears to update. However, when I click on the App Store, I am again bugged to install the same update. Resetting my iPad has not corrected this. Deleting the app and reinstalling the app did not correct this either. I am inclined to believe that this is a problem with the application and not the iPad given that I don't seem to have this problem with other applications but I wanted to report this in case it is more than that. Just wanted to bring this to attention both in case this is a problem not isolated to this app and my iPad.

    This has been resolved.
For those searching for reasons: it was probably a aftershock from the appstore issue from a few days ago... Or the app version number didnt match the soon to be released updates which got leaked (new appstore issue)
    Anyway, its all good now.
    Thanks!:)

I'm having this problem. It started yesterday. I have 2 updates, but when I open the App Store, they won't appear.
Do you have apps purchased with a differnt AppleID?
For example, mine shows 12 updates but only 2 show up as being available.
The others are on my daughters account.
I log out of my iTunes account and log in with hers and those updates show up.

  • Not appearing under devices

When I connect my iPod Classic, it does not appear under devices.  I do have it on my iMac desktop, so I think the USB is working properly.  The iPod also will connect to my PC with no problem; I synced yesterday evening.  I have the latest iTunes on both computers.
    Any ideas?

See here: iPod does not appear in iTunes or iPod updater in Mac OS X
And here as well if necessary: iPod not recognized in iTunes and Mac desktop
Did it ever show up previously? If so, what has changed then? Have you recently installed any third party software/plug-ins/etc.?

  • Software tab does not appear in settings on IPad

software tab does not appear in settings on ipad - how do I update software

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

  • Am unable to import fav's ect from ie,went through procedure but has not appeared under bookmarks

'''have tried twice to import fav's,cookies ect,has not appeared under bookmarks as said.was using ie,'''

Your above posted system details show outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks.
    *Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32
Update the [[Flash]] plugin to the latest version.

You can usually find the imported IE Favorites in a folder ("From Internet Explorer") at the bottom of the Bookmarks Menu folder (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks).<br />
If you can't find them there then try this:
Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html): File > Import and Export<br />
Import the HTML file in Firefox 3: Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML: From File<br />

  • My iPad does not appear under "devices" in iTunes

When I connect my iPad 2 to my PC (Windows 7), it does not appear under "Devices". I have tried all the steps described in "Trouble-shooting". It does, however, recognize and show my iPod nano, when I connect that through the same USB. I have already deleted and reloaded iTunes 10.4 three times. Incidentally, I had no problem when I was using  previous version of iTunes before I updated it 5 days back.

    Thanks Rudegar.
Finally what worked? I removed all the Apple software files from my PC. Rebooted my PC. Downloaded iTunes afresh, saved and run it. Ah..ah.. my iPad was under the devices this time and it synchronised well. I am happy. Thanks

  • Apps downloaded in iTunes Store do not appear under iTunes Apps tab

Apps downloaded in the iTunes Store (either as updates to existing apps or as new) do not appear under the 'Apps' tab in iTunes.
iTunes requests my Apple ID and password and the files will download afterward.  However, they do not appear in the 'Apps' tab.  This is confirmed by right-clicking >> Get Info.  No update to the version and new apps do not appear.
Of note, I am running Lion an iMac 3.06 Core 2 Duo w/ iTunes 10.7.
My iTunes Library is located on a Mac Mini Server running Lion Server.  I've checked permissions and every folder and library file is set to 'Read & Write' so it doesn't appear to be a permissions issue.
    Any ideas?

Also, I've tried individually downloading an app flagged for update in iTunes without any luck.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Navigate to Settings > Computers > Your Library on the Apple TV, you may be told you will lose all synced content, but you can't doing anything abouty this, you won't lose any purchased content that has yet to be transferred. Then select Settings > Computers > Connect To iTunes, note the passcode that appears on screen, click on the device in iTunes and enter the passcode when prompted.
