Software updates taking a very lonf time to download

I am deploying patch Tuesday software updates and I am seeing the download of updates to the clients taking a very long time (7 hours to download 11 updates).
I have set BITS throttling to 100 Kbps in my Default Client Settings policy but I didn't think a limit that high would cause this behavior.
In my CAS.log I'm seeing the below behaviour where a lot of errors are being logged trying to delete directories and attempts to download the content seem to be at 10-15 minute intervals. Is this expected behaviour?

The cache can also be deleted by yourself. Check the security setting of the cache subfolder, it the system and administrator are listed there, it is normal. No further action needs to be taken.

  • Movie taking a very long time to download.

I just got The Hunger Games 3 DVD set as a gift and I put in the code to download the movie for free in iTunes. When I go to my downloads it says the videos will take 22, 18, and 51 hours to download respectively. My internet works just fine for web browsing and song downloads, so I can't figure out why it would take so long to download the videos. Any ideas? Is this just normal?

I am having the same problem.  I bought a tv movie that was 7GB and left it to download. It was taking forever and stopped downloading at 3GB.
Is there anything I can do to get it to download all the way?

  • IOS 6 download is taking a very long time.

On my phone, I started installing iOS 6 through the settings and software update. It was taking a very long time to start, so I tried a hard reset (Pressed and hold home and power). When it woke back up, it was still just estimating time remaining, and has not made progess. Is it just being slow because the amount of users trying to download? Or did I mess it up? If I did mess it up, any solutions such as stopping the download?

Mine, i had to restore it and then it downloaded but now it has me doing the activation of the iphone. But, it wont do it cause it says the activation server is temporarily unavailibe..   If it wont work tonight, i will be at at&t tmrw before work.  This *****!

  • TDMS Shell - DB Export from source/sender system taking a VERY long time

We're trying to build a TDMS Receiver system using the TDMS Shell technique. We've run into a situation wherein the initial  DB Export from source/sender system is taking a VERY long time.
We are on ECC 6.0, running on AIX 6.1 and DB UDB v9.7. We're executing the DB export from sapinst, per instructions. Our DB export parallelizes, then the parallel processes one by one whittle away to just one remaining, and there we find out that the export is at that point single-threaded, and exporting table BSIS.
BSIS is an FI transactional data table. We're wondering why is the DB export trying to get BSIS and its contents out??? Isn't the DB export in TDMS Shell technique only supposed to get SAP essential only config and master data, and NOT transactional data?
Our BSIS table is nearly 700 GB in size by itself.  That export has been running for nearly a week now, with no end in site.
What are we doing wrong? We suspect we may have missed something, but really don't think we do. We also suspect that the EXCLUSION table in the TDMS Shell technique may be the KEY to this whole thing. It's supposed to automatically exclude very large tables, but in this case, it most certainly missed out in excluding BSIS for some reason.
Anyway, we're probably going to fire up an OSS Message with SAP Support to help us address this perplexing issue. Just thought we'd throw it out there to the board to see if anyone else somewhere has run into similar circumstances and challenges.  In the meantime, any feedback and/or advice would be dearly appreciated. Cheers,

    Hello
Dont be bothered by the other TPL file DDLDB6_LRG.TPL, we are only concerned with DDLDB6.TPl.
Answer following questions to help me analyze the situation -
    1) What is the current size of export dump
    2) Since when is the exports running
    3) What is the size of the source DB? Do you have huge amount of custom developments?
    4) Did you try to use table splitting?
    5) Do you doubt that there may be other transaction tables (like BSIS) which have been exported completely?
    6) Did you update the SAP Kernel of your source system to latest version before starting the Shell package?
    7) Were the DB statistics update during the shell or were they already updated before starting Shell?
    8) Is your system a distributed system i.e. Central instance and Database instance are on different application servers?

  • HT1414 iPhone restore is taking a very long time

I was prompted to restore my iPhone  on iTunes... It's taking a very long time, is this normal?

If you are restoring from a backup and you had lots of photos inside the camera roll, it might take longer to restore.
If you are using iTunes on your computer and setting it back to factory settings, without using a backup, it should not take that long if the software had already been downloaded to your computer.

  • Messages are taking a very long time to send.

Hello, I'm currently having a big problem with messages taking a very long time to actually send. The spinning wheel will stay there for hours. It only happens in one or two skype groups at a time where I can send messages normally in other groups. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

I have been having this problem for the last 4 releases. I have had some take up to 8 hours to send before. I can usually fix it by signing out then restarting skype. Just restarting skype doesn't work, nor does just signing in again.

I just got an iPhone 5 32GB and i have backed up my old 3GS 32GB via itunes (20GB of data on there) and it is taking a very long time to restore to my iPhone5. Its taken more than 20 hours and didnt complete.
The text "Time remaining ... hours" flickers.
I set it to start restoring from the 3GS backup yesterday at 1pm and the time remaining kept on increasing. I left it overnight and at 9am this morning the progress bar hadnt moved and it said 12 hours remaining.
I don't know why its taking so long. I unplugged it and it just set up as new phone. So i did a factory reset and tried again at 4pm and it is now 12am and it says 4 hours remaining and my computer occasionally flickers. (Its not a bad computer, 2 months old, i7, 6GB RAM, Heaps of HDD space). It also messes with google chrome and i cannot browse the web at all while it is trying to restore my iphone.
I have tried restarting my laptop and should i reinstall itunes? I simply dont see why it should take longer than 20 hours to copy over 20GB of data!
    Can anyone help me?
    Thank you

I'm having this EXACT same problem with my iPhone 4, and I have the same computer stats (I have a Samsung Series 7)

  • Is there any way to connect time capsule to a MacBook Pro directly via USB. I have a large amount of data that I want to back up and it is taking a very long time (35GB is taking 3 hrs, I have 2TB if files in total)...)?

Perhaps via USB. I have a large amount of data that I want to back up and it is taking a very long time (35GB is taking 3 hrs, I have 2TB if files in total)...? I want to use TimeCapsule as back-up for an archive which is curently stored on a 2 TB WESC HD.

No, you cannot backup via direct usb connection..
But gigabit ethernet is much faster anyway.. are you connected directly by ethernet?
Is the drive you are backing up from plugged into the TC? That will slow it down something chronic.. plug that drive in by its fastest connection method.. WESC sorry I have no idea. If ethernet use that.. otherwise USB direct to the computer.. always think what way the files come and go.. but since you are copying from the computer everything has to go that way.. it makes things slower if they go over the same cable.. if you catch the drift.

  • Inventory aged reports are taking a very long time to run

We are using Standard delievered extractors for Inventory.  We have build an Aged report and it is taking a very long time to run as more an more data is added.  We put the inventory in buckets 0-30, 31-60, .... >365 days.  We are aging based on a batch date the user enters.  the problem is it has to go through every record to recalculate because they are non cumulative.
any ideas/suggestions on how to make this more efficient?  New design?

    Hi MM,
We can use snapshot of monthly data from Query and store it in DSO at month level.
We had used APD on Query and then Stored them in DSO1(WO)->DSO2(STD)->Cube->report based on Snap Shot.
From the New Query , calculate the Age.

  • Notebook Taking a very long time to power off

    Hi All,
My notebook (HP ENVY 17-j005tx Notebook) when shutting down only takes a couple of seconds, however it can take upto 5 minutes to power off...
At first i thought some service or program was taking a long time to shutdown, I installed Windows 8.1 SDK Performance Toolkit to try and identify a culprit; ran the command "xbootmgr -trace shutdown -traceFlags BASE+DIAG+LATENCY -noPrepReboot" and succeffully generated trace file.
I noticed the notbook had rebooted in just a few seconds..
Anyhow I proceeded to analyse the trace file using the wpa.exe program anf could not find any program or service taking much time to shutdown!!!
SO I understand now the Windows OS is shutting down nicely though the Notebook is taking a very long time to power off.
Anyone have any suggestions?  I do have NVIDIA Driver 337.88 installed and did find another thread here where they suspected this driver version has not been tested by HP and after they applied it their notebook shutdown slower than usual - is this somehting maybe to look at...
I'm currently downoading sp63414.exe NVIDIA driver for my notebook - should I uninstall my current driver and apply HP's?

    Thanks visruth,..
What I tried is run "msconfig" and boot into "safe mode", rebooted then shutdown, shutdown was back to normal again.
So then reran "msconfig" disabled all non-Microsoft Services, shutdown and again all powered off as normal (quickly after shutdown).
So rebooted and re-enabled all services again using "msconfig".  THen disabled the following services, choosing these specifically as I'm not so sure why they should be running and some not know what they are used for...
rebooted and then shutdown and all shutdown and power off was normal...
It seems one of these services is causing the power off to take several minutes....
I suspect the bluetooth services, or the GSService, or IconMan_R, or possibly the Netgear Genie...
Funny enough I did uninstall netgear genie a few weeks ago and see for some unknown reason the Service is still there???? Hmm...

  • Calculations on new server is taking a very long time

    Hello,
We are upgrading from a 9.2 to 9.3 system. The 9.3 system is on completely different servers than the 9.2 system. We have migrated a couple of applications and the calcs on the 9.3 system are taking a very long time. For instance a calc that we ran on the 9.2 system that used to take 1 hour now takes 7. Also, on a different application a calc that used to take 15 minutes now takes an hour. The applications that we put on 9.3 are identical to the application on 9.2 (we used the migration utility). Additionally, I have ensured that the essbase.cfg files have the same cache settings. What else can we do to get the performance on the 9.3 system to be equal to if not better than the 9.2 system?
    I appreciate any help.

I would recommend that you run perfmon.exe (if using Windows) to look at the CPU and Disk I/O utilization.
On a well tuned system, you will see a "toggling" of max CPU and max I/O as each keeps the other busy and takes relatively small breaks in activity.
My suspicion is that the I/O is the bottleneck on the new system, maybe it's using an external array that is shared, perhaps? If this is the case, the CPU utilization will be relatively low and the I/O will be relatively high (if you are familiar with the concept of duty cycle, the I/O duty cycle will be well more than 50% if it's the bottleneck, much less than 50% if the CPU is the bottleneck, and about even if they are well balanced).
The other major possibility (aside from weak disk configurations) are that a raid drive is in fault mode and the controller is rebuilding the set. The other possibilities are more like fringe cases compared to these two.
