Software upgrade help?
I have recently done a software update. After the update my mac restarted, as soon as it had started I noticed that the placeholders around the icons on my desktop were visible also the volume buttons only work if i press them at the same time as the fn key. As well as the placeholders on the desktop being visible I have now noticed that any other application I have running also has what can only be described as a "Black" outlined box surrounding certain areas on the application. (on firefox it is the red close icon in the top right corner). And I have noticed that some buttons have got sound effects which weren't there before.
Please can anyone tell me if they know what the problem is, and if there is a way of rolling back the update?

it helps vision impaired people. it can speak various actions you perform and it gives you a lot of configuration options to make certain things easier to see (like putting back boxes around selected objects). I'm not vision impaired so I can't tell you much more as I never use it.

Purchasing iPod Touch January Software Upgrade help
Alright, I'm trying to get the software upgrade for my iPod Touch 1.1.4. The screen tells me that if my iPod is connected to disconnect and reconnect after that I go to the bottom of the page and click okay and it just sends me to the iTunes Store main page. I've tried clicking okay then disconnecting and bringing up the page but nothing seems to let me purchase the software upgrade. Any help is appreciated.
I am encountering exactly the same thing. I had the upgrade and when using Notes the program locked up and returned to the iPod Touch desktop. Notes was now unusable. So I reset the iPod, installed 1.1.4, reinstalled iTunes. Tried everything a few times and kept getting the same pattern, from the web site to the iTunes January update page, then from there back to the homepage of iTunes.
It is like it doesn't recognize that 1.1.4 does not have the upgrade. Something is buggy. Hopefully with the next update it will work because it doesn't now. -
MacBook Pro Snow Leopard Software Upgrade Help!
I recently upgraded to Yosenity, and noticed my computer lags a bit (spinning wheel thing). I downgraded back to Snow Leopard via cd. Now my iTunes will not read my iPhone and when I upgrade the software, it is stuck on that aura screen. What should I do if I want to stay in Snow Leopard?
I assume I need to upgrade to the latest Snow Leopard to get my iTunes working properly. I think I would want to download iTunes 11 after I update Snow Leopard. Is it possible that since the updates need the internet that Apple does not support Snow leopard upgrades anymore?Ok so I solved it I think. I restarted my comp, hard restart and then only checked Snow Leopard and ITunes to be updated. Now that seems to be updating itself like normal.

Lost dock after latest software upgrade - HELP
I just updated a whole bunch of stuff include Security, iDVD, Quicktime, iTunes and Mac OS and after the restart, the dock is no longer there. I tried to reset it through the system preferences but still no dock.
And worse when I open a Finder window, all my left menu items such as Application, docs & Music are no longer there (although I can see them in the HD). Even worse, major applications like iTunes, iDVD, iChat & Safari no longer work. I get an error message that they are damaged or incomplete.
Please help.

Repair Permissions afterwards, reboot.
If that doesn't work then time for an Archive & Install... unless making a New Admin User works for all these problems, which would give us more clues. -
Help needed: iPhone 4 software upgrade failed many times
Hello. I've bought an iPhone 4, which its operating system is 4.3, and was prompt by iTunes about this iPhone 4 software upgrade to iOS 4.3.5. I've downloaded the software and waiting for quite some time and after the dowloading has completed, the file will be processed. After processing, there is a popup saying that somehow the software upgrade failed and said something like make sure that your connection is correct etc. Do you have any idea on how to solve this issue?

I have a MacBook pro version 10.6.7 with snow leopard. After an scheduled software upgrade I could not open Quicken (It said it could not open the files). Now I can only open it if I have my external drive on. Can you help?
All the information that I had input on Quicken is gone. I have to have the external hard drive that I use to back up to be able to use quicken now. It is as if it was erased from the laptop hardriveTry repairing permissions. My favorite way is with a utility called AppleJack. Info and download here. It's free. It only works when you boot in Single User Mode. When restarting or booting, hold down the Command key and S keys.
You will get a very different startup screen that looks like the Terminal app has hijacked the screen. Just let the lines of text scroll by. When that happens you will get a text entry prompt. Type in "AppleJack" without the quotation marks.
A DOS looking menu will appear. Choose 1 or d to run Disk Repair. If you get a message that Disk Repair found and corrected errors, run it again. Repeat until you get the "your disk appears to be ok" message. This rarely happens with my experience, though. This does the same thing as as booting from an external drive and running Disk Utility's repair. Only, no external drive is required!
Next, choose 2 or p to repair disk permissions. This will take a little while. AppleJack warns that it will take up to an half hour to run repair permissions. It'n never taken more than about ten minutes for my MacBook Pro.
As permissions are repaired, you will see each repair scroll on the screen. When done, the menu returns, choose q to quit. Then at the prompt, enter "exit" without the quotes. Your MacBook Pro should restart into Mac OS normally after this.

I cannot sync contacts between my iPhone 4s and MacBook Pro after I upgraded the Mac with the latest operating system software upgrade. Even the Mac Store couldn't help...
That is because that sync ability (for contacts and calendars) has been removed. Use iCloud instead.

The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

I cannot sync my iphone to my macbook since the highest software upgrade on it is 10.5.8. I cannot upgrade to the min. software necessary to upgrade to the itunes version that I need for the iphone 5! Please help!
The iPhone 5 requires iTunes 10.7 or later and iTunes 10.7 requires OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.8). If your profile is correct it looks like you need to update your OS X on you Mac. You can contact Apple and purchase the software from them.

As I downloaded new software upgrade in my iPod nano 7 th gen and also new iTunes upgrade then all data on my iPod got erased and now when I am trying to sync it again then sync button is disabled on the windows screen . Kindly help

They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod. -

I have a problem with an iPad 2. After the software upgrade to iOS 5 the APN settings keep resetting all by themselves (I set the APN, I get out of the setting by pressing the back arrow on the top left of the screen, I get back in there and the APN setting is gone). Of course, the internet connection si not working. I've seen other people having the same problem on their iPads after the upgrade.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?I too am experiencing this issue - on an iPad 2 using a UK BT DATA plan SIM. This is not an issue with the SIM, as I have tried it in a different iPad and it works without any problems.
I have also tried all recent iOS updates, hoping it would overcome the issue - but no joy.
Can we have some assistance from the fine people at Apple please???

Help Unable to use software upgrade
I am unable to use software upgrade, til yesterday it was running fine, today i am not getting the updates, the page is completly blank, but still says , your computer has softwares to be upgraded.why has this problem occured.I know i can download everything individually, but i need my mbp to do it automatically, as my net is slow.
3rd party pluggs or Logic instruments? Did you change hardware or installed/updated your software? I have a similar problem after an update where logic can't open 3rd party pluggs... But then I can open them on new projects... Strange!.....
