Software, wifi, browser keyboard bugs crazy making

Whenever I'm browsing the web the PlayBook recognizes a click when in fact I'm trying to scroll. So, I'm constantly clicking back because of all the erroneous recognitions of me selecting a hyperlink during an attempted scroll maneuver. Also, I'm almost six foot man this horizontal keyboard layout is too far of a reach to thumb type effectively. So that means it is surely to large for the average person. Split the keyboard in half, delete the T  and Y rows and compress all keys into the remaining space. I would like to try a half moon design split into two half moons, left and right side of the horizontal layout. The halfmoon would match the anatomical sweep of the thumbs when placed at the lower corners of the horizontal layout.
Also, experiment with a dynamic text entry box. This would prevent me from squinting at the current method of focus PlayBook uses when I enter text.
Bug report keyboard disappears when in text entry mode then turn to horizontal vice versa. Also, if I open a tab I don't want to have the focus shift automatically put a check box in the options menu.
Also, playbook unable to connect to apple router newer with wpa2. My bold 9700 can what the heck.
Also the screen calibration is lacking contrast and the algorithm used to change the brightness automatically needs to be focused only on the front camera and it needs to be tweeked more levels of brightness change added. What I mean is as it gets slightly darker the the playbook doesn't brighten or darken in enough steps automatically, it has maybe two or 3 big steps needs to be more gradual. Someone call the pew pew developer app crashing. For God sakes fix the horizontal keyboard.

  • Browser / Keyboard Bug

Since getting my new z10 I have been experiencing a bug with the browser / keyboard.
I use the phone for (among many other things) tracking my work outs, and to do this I enter daily statistics into a mobile website (I won't name the company.. They don't deserve the free press since they can't be bothered to produce a native BB10 application) Despite the mobile site's limitations compared to an app, It got the job done on my 9900, and works with ios and android devices fine, but since switching to BB10, when clicking on the field to enter the miles logged during my run, rather then the standard keyboard, or a numerical keyboard popping up.. I get the hexadecimal keyboard (same one that comes up when you enter a BB PIN for a contact) and this is problematic because the hexadecimal keyboard lacks buttons that are needed for the task.. most notably a decimal. I have attached a link to a screen shot below, and in this example you will see that my run should have been 3.60 miles.. but with the keyboard you will see visible, I am only able to enter 360 miles. Not nearly the same thing!! I have also reached out to the developer of the mobile site, and they have indicated the problem is on Blackberry's side.
    A prompt response is appreciated,
    Thank you.

  • Nokia Asha 501 Factory reset and keyboard bug

When you do a factory reset and restore the phone to the last back up point, your app store and xpress browser stops working. I have tried accessing the internet via wifi and not the mobile internet.
You just do the factory reset and download an app or surf internet on xpress browser, it works perfectly fine. However once you do the restore it stops working. You can surf internet using Opera mini, that means wifi internet is working fine on the phone.
Error on app store: 'Downloading Failed'.
Error on xpress browser: 'can't load this page at the moment. Please try again later'.
    Keyboard Bug:
when typing in portrait mode, keys on extreme right side (P,L,backspace and enter) are less resposive to touch. Same is the case of the keys on the extreme left side (Q,A,Caps and symbol). I have to keep on touching in order to make it work.
Nokia team, please find a solution to this asap. My phone is not even one month old. This is really diappointing.
Let me know if you need more details.

About the backup and restore thing, i don't know why Nokia decides to cut out the good features. The backup and restore system in older S40/Asha phones worked better as users were allowed to select what is backuped. Backing up and restoring pre-installed apps always creates a problem.
I hope Nokia will update the backup application and include the option to select what is backuped. Until then the problem will remain.

  • Handle browser keyboard shortcuts (like F5)

    Hi,
I was wondering if it's possible to handle browser keyboard shortcuts (like the F5, F6, etc) and disable it.
I can do this by Javascript and an Applet but not in a Flex application.
EDIT: forgot to say that when the Flex application has focus I cant handle the shortcuts in Javascript, so it's impossible to trap the keys in Javascript and sent them to the Flash movie.
There's some issue reported in http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FP-96
    Thank You

Have you? And did you look at the issue link I sent?
I know how to do a EventListener! the problem is that the Flash Player does not 'trap' the browser shortcuts !!!
    The manual says:
"When handling a key or key combination that the underlying operating system or browser recognizes, the operating system or browser generally processes the event first. For example, in Microsoft Internet Explorer, pressing Control+w closes the browser window. If you trap that combination in your Flex application, Internet Explorer users never know it, because the browser closes before the ActiveX Flash Player has a chance to react to the event."
So I'm guessing that, for some kind of reason, Flash Player is the only ActiveX that does not handle this.

  • S60 Browser (S60v5) bugs and ideas

Making separated thread for S60 Browser.
    Bugs
    1. DO NOT save passwords in links in history nor anywhere else. The link [email protected] should be transformed into [email protected]. Autocomplete doesn't work on S60 browser addressbar. You can only select first item from popup list. Also, if you clean the address field after selection you won't able to select anything from autocomplete popup list again.
    3. Addressbar won't show currently opened link.
    4. Password fields and addressbar won't let you enter non-latin symbols. It's a feature, but as there are IDNs and a lot of people makes their passwords from cyrillic, greek or other symbols there should be an optional way to turn off the feature.
Ideas. In overal S60 browser is very good, but there still some things left to make it better than Opera Mobile. Reducing bandwidth and improving interface.
    1. Links or any other content of the page should not response on less than 100% zoom.
    2. When less than 100% zoom make a single-click zooming to 100% on selected area. Double clicking is very annoying feature.
    3. Move Zoom-slider button into graphical menu. You can replace Help item. There is enough of Help in usual application menu. Make another zoom button instead for switching between zoom levels. There are three levels you have to switch by double-clicking the screen. It's very annoying and in at least of 50% you accidentally clicking on links... Make the button instead of double clicking. And let an ability to switch those buttons between graphical menu and button bar. Some people would still prefer an old way.
    4. DO NOT reload the page every time you trying to open it, if it's not necessary (when you switching between windows or going back/forward)
    5. Swap the position of the graphical menu and addressbar buttons - menu to the center and addressbar to the left.
    6. Transparent loading progress bar at the top of the screen in full screen mode. Just in a style of scrollbars. It should disappear once the page is loaded.
    7. Compressing proxy servers around the world for everything images and texts (Like Opera Turbo).

I purchased a Macbook Air 11" in January 2011. It has one key on the keyboard which sticks making an irritating clicking sound that I would like to get fixed. I took it into my local iStore but they were not at all encouraging, saying they doubt that Apple warranty will cover something like this, and also that the whole keyboard would have to be replaced as they don't do individual key repairs.
This is very unreasonable to me. Firstly, the keyboard does work (is not actually broken) although the intermittent clicking sound of a single key is very irritating to me and I expect more from an Apple product than a flawed keyboard.
Any thoughts, tips and insight on this greatly appreciated.

Just wanted to conclude by saying that I did go to an Apple store and after supplying proof of purchase and verifying the warranty etc, I had my MacBook checked out by one of the technicians who (after finding that my machine was immaculate bar the sticky keyboard of course) they replaced the entire keyboard within a week.
I was so happy with the helpful and prompt service and am now so happy with my new silent keyboard!
Also wanted to add that the young guy who told me at the iStore that he doubted Apple would support this and guessed Apple likely say it was due to user damage was being a tool, and he was obviously assuming  that I had done something wrong to break my keyboard.
This was my first Mac purchase and I was delighted to find that the support is genuine and not just a rumor... I have since gone on to purchase an iPad2 will probably buy the iMac too once my trusty PC needs replacing. I was never a PC hater and got on well with windows, and was actually reluctant to make the change - but so far so good :)
    Thanks for all the help!

Your System Details are showing Fun Web Products. Suggest you look in Add-ons - Extensions and Plug-ins, and Control Panel>Add/Remove programs or >(newer version) Programs and Features. You could also do a search of your computer.
Fun Web Products(associated with MyWebSearch) always seems to cause problems, Alexa does, too, but less often - there may be conflicts.
I'm not an expert on these two products. I'm afraid I can only alert you to the problems. Google will show you plenty of evidence of problems. You might also try the Search Firefox Help box above - a gold mine but it usually requires a lot of digging.
You can start Firefox in Safe Mode - Hold Shift Key down as you double click on the Firefox icon>ignore the page that opens>Continue. If that improves things you could do a little troubleshooting(Safe Mode, Problematic extensions etc), use default theme, -

  • Firefox & foxmarks on ipod touch for wifi browsing?

I'm thinking of getting a 32gb touch for a video player when i work out and so i can have a wifi browser when i don't feel like taking the MBP out of the bag....
Will the touch instal firefox with foxmarks? that way i can have all my "bookmarks" when i use wifi....
also what are the limits of the touch? can i go to my google mail and my hotmail accounts? does the touch do flash yet?
    thanks for the help...

As far as I know -- no Firefox or Foxmarks. Safari on the Touch will sync bookmarks with Internet Explorer, so what I did was to clear out all Favorites in IE (since I don't use it anyway) and imported my Bookmarks from Firefox into IE. I then cleaned those up and deleted quite a few, since I had tons that I didn't need or want on the Touch, and did the sync with IE favorites.
It at least got my bookmarks onto the Touch. There's no way to keep them synchronized with Firefox, but in my case at least that isn't a real problem.

  • Bridge Browser and WiFi Browser Issues???

    Hey everyone,
I've had my Playbook since day one and I have been having issues that I can't seem to get resolved involving the Brdige Browser and WiFi browser.
On the Bridge Browser I can't browse to any webpages. I simply get a non-descript "Not Authorized HTTP://whatevertheurlwas.com" error message. Ive tried dozens of pages, reset the bridge, to no avail.
The other issue is with the WiFi browser. When I try to login to an Exchange 2010 OWA webmail site, I can't click certain check boxes (they arent grayed out, the clcik just wont function). Also - when I try and navigate to a SharePoint 2010 site I get an "Error - A network error has occured" message. It is accessible fine via an iPad, laptop, and desktop computer but not from the Playbook browser.
    Any ideas??

I spent about 3 hours with Support on this last night.
Explanation makes sense...could not verify it yet.
Bridge Browser by default uses "Blackberry Browser" to surf the net. If this option is disabled by BES Admin (assumption here is that you are on BES), you will not be able to surf the net. If you have BIS services also, your Blackberry  handset (assumption here is that you are on OS v6) tries to open a site through "Blackberry Browser" and then defaults through "Internet Browser"...which is why you are probably surf the net through your handset without any issues.
To verify this, install OS v5 and that gives you the option of picking the browser for your handset. If you get the same message after selecting "BLackberry Browser" on your phone...the above explanation can be confirmed. I am going to try it on my older Blackberry handset with OS v5 over the weekend.
Solution if the above explanation is verified:
Running the web browser in work mode
If the Allow Browser IT policy rule is set to Yes and you configure the BlackBerry® MDS Connection Service to connect a BlackBerry smartphone to the Internet and intranet, a BlackBerry® PlayBook™ tablet that is connected to the smartphone can run the web browser in work mode.
When the web browser runs in work mode, it does not use the Wi-Fi® connection that it uses when it runs in personal mode. Instead, the web browser can connect to the Internet or your organization's intranet using the smartphone's connection to the BlackBerry MDS Connection Service. The tablet encrypts any cached data that is stored on the tablet using the BlackBerry® Bridge™ work key.
A BlackBerry PlayBook tablet user can access the web browser in work mode by clicking the browser icon in the BlackBerry Bridge panel on the tablet, or by clicking on a link in a work application. When a user clicks a link in any work application, such as a link in work email messages, work calendar entries, the contact list, tasks, memos, or BlackBerry® Messenger messages, the web browser runs in work mode if any of the following conditions exist:•
    No Wi-Fi connection is available•
Web address does not contain periods•
MDS Browser Domains IT policy rule includes the domain of the web address•
Web address consists of a private IP address as specified in RFC 1918•
Value of the Wi-Fi Internet Access Path IT policy rule is set to "Access through BlackBerry MDS Connection Service"
If these conditions do not exist, the web browser runs in personal mode and connects to the Internet using a Wi-Fi connection.
The web browser cannot run in work mode if it cannot access the BlackBerry MDS Connection Service.

Tis a bummer. It is not a bad idea to have a cheap usb keyboard and mouse around for future troubleshooting purposes, but I am not sure that will get you past this.
Have you tried plugging stuff in to see if it works? I don't have a happy feeling that it will but it couldn't hurt to try.

Lots of WIFI needs a username and password to get access. I guess you're lucky and yours is set up unsecured.
Normal secured WiFi requires only a password to get access. The password is used to encrypt traffic between your device and the WiFi access point. If whatever you are using requires a username as well then it is not simply normal secured WiFi. It might be a subscription WiFi service like GOGO, ATT, etc., or a service with authentication, i.e., college campus, etc. To help you out we need to know what you are using and what connection dialog you are being presented with. You don't have exactly the same problem as the original poster. He is having a problem entering a password into the password dialog that iOS presents when one tries to connect to a normal secured WiFi network. Could you clarify exactly which WiFi service you are using.
