Solar power for blackberry

Dear all
I am new to this community. I am seaking the right contact within RIM for a hardware innovation for blackberry devices.
We are a startup company who developed a new solution to feed the batteries with solar power: The whole body of the device serves as light harvesting unit feeding solar cells which charge the batteries of the device.
This way the batteries are always charged when light shines on the device no matter of intensity and light source. A power plug to charge the batteries is not needed as much as before if at all.
Who is the right person and his/her condact information to whom I can talk to?
Thank you

  • I need to buy an external battery solar charger for my iPad 2. Does anyone have the specifications for it, such as  volts, miliamperes, amperes, etc ??

I Want to buy an external  solar battery charger for my iPad 2. Does anyone know the right specifications for it.
Is this one good for me ? 12000mAh Portable Solar Power Battery Pack. You can find it on this link.
    http://dx.com/p/12000mah-portable-solar-power-battery-pack-with-laptop-cellphone -adapters-72218?item=37
    Thanks.

The iPad charger is rated at 10W - 5V @ 2A  An iPhone/iPod charger is rated at 5W - 5V @ 1A. An iPhone charger will charge the iPad, but much slower than the iPad charger. Based on the specs, I don't think it's adequate for the iPad.

  • Solar power - possible, or waste of time?

I've got a 13" Macbook Pro and every so often when out and about I run out of charge after a couple of hours when I can't connect to the mains (I use a lot when importing photographs and editing whist on site).  Does anyone know if the various solar power devices are any good, and if so can you recommend a good one for me to get (ideally one I can carry with me in a pack and doesn't take up a lot of room - I know I don't want much!), or any other ideas on how to get more power when needed??
    Many thanks

Small portable solar arrays tend to have pretty low output. The backpacks linked above put out 4 watts — less than a sixth of what your MBP's AC adapter delivers to a shut-down, no-peripherals-connected MBP whose battery is fully or almost fully discharged. So you could charge your battery with one, but it might take all of a long, sunny day, or even longer. Those backpacks are designed to charge cell phones, not notebook computers.
A better solution for your purposes would probably be an external battery pack or two:

  • Is there an solar charger for the iphone 5

Is there a solar charger available for the iphone 5. Our weekend retreat has no electricity so we rely just on fire and solar power!

I use the Nexcon Solar Charger with my iPhone 6 and iPad Mini. It works great especially on camping trips!

  • Is Solaris better for Java than Linux?

    Hi All,
I am going to set up a distributed processing architecture in Java using RMI and other techniques.
I will be using 2 servers(few more later), one will be used for fetching data from external resources like network/web, etc. and the other server will be used for processing that data.
Now, i am using Linux, however, i have been reading a lot about Solaris 10 and especially its 2 main advantages for using it for Java development.
    1) Java is native to Solaris.
    2) Solaris has a much better support for multi threading than Linux.
Please suggest me if i should move to Solaris 10
    Thanks in advance

This is not my personal opinion, i am saying what link from sun.com saysNo, "+So, *i think* that Solaris *has much more power* than Linux.....and we have to find on that....+ " is your personal opinion. It is not what the article says.
It's an old article, and it's talking quite specifically about threading models. Assuming for the sake of argument that the article is still accurate, it still doesn't answer the question of which OS is more suitable for your application - that will depend entirely upon the characteristics of the application itself.
...and i have asked this to you all just because i may find anyone that have used Solaris with JavaNobody can tell you how your application will run with either Solaris or Linux. If that sort of fine distinction is important you'll need to benchmark it, or at least take into account the actual threading metrics of your application.
Choices between Solaris and Linux are generally made on management, environment, hardware, and other grounds, not the "does it run Java faster" question. For example if you're running on a platform with Niagara then of course you run Solaris. If you're going to need extensive runtime debugging instrumentation then you run Solaris just for DTrace. If you're running on commodity hardware then you probably run Linux for driver issues alluded to here.
Your question, as asked, is unanswerable. Ask a better question.
Edit: Or to give you a far more efficient version of the above "Try it and see." as given by Keith in reply 1.

  • Solar Charger for my Z10

I am considering buying a rollable, portable solar charger for my Z10. Would such a product with these specs,Max Power: 4.8 Watts, 300 mA (model f15-300) produce enough power to safely charge my device?

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    hello!
may i add some thoughts to this topic...i am working since a couple of years on solar chargers for mobile phones.
we do have a solution for this...our solar panel is foldable, keeps constant in performance under "hot" conditions (which most of the products in the market don´t do...your 300 mA are probably only available at 25 degree celcius...in the sun you get easily surface temp of over 60 degree celcius and your current will drop to 150 mA or even less)...I use Q10...it can be charged with 500 mA  (standard USB power) but not below 450 mA...for Z10 i cannot tell, because we did not test so far...best way is to use a solar panel and a seperate powerbank (no integrated designs!) which is dedicated to be charged by solar power...then you can charge your phone from this powerbank...it works very stable and you avoid keeping your phone in the sun...temp is too high!  Smartphones will interrupt charging function at temp above 40 to 45 degree celcius...which means Smartphone must be in the shadow!  We offer direct charging function as well, but recommend this only when sun is stable and temperature is low (or cold wind) I do not want to make advertising for my product here...but it really works...:-) but the solar cells we use and the powerbank technology has its price...solar power is great but so far expansive if done in a good way and not as a product which just just wants to catch the "green marketing trend"... since 3 weeks i have charged my phone ONLY by solar power...we have a south sided window at our office and i charge every day my powerbank and at evening i charge my Q10 from there. So finally...it may work!  ;-) Outdoor i do have my solar bag...and collect the energy to safe inside the powerbank. But the solar panel can also be mounted on backpacks...and has better usability...and is cheaper!  ;-)
maybe i could keep your interest for solar power solutions...create energy...it makes fun...and probably provides a bit more liberty when using our daily electronic gadgets...and it is renewable energy!
    best wishes from Vienna, Rafael

  • Hi Whats the best solar charger for my i phone 4

Hi. Whats the best solar charger for my iphone 4. Thanks  James

    Hi James,
I do a lot of biking and I found a company called Misuny that make a solar battery charger that your iphone slides into. You can charge it via USB and when I'm out and about it tops itself up by the solar panel. When your iPhone is running low on battery power just press the power button twice and it transfers the charge. It solved my problems! (although i cant make excuses to my wife that my battery ran out anymore!)
misuny.co.uk for UK orders and i think misunycanada.com for US.
    Cheers!

  • Cant install yahoo mail for blackberry

    Hi
Im trying to install the yahoo mail for blackberry from blackberry.com/yahoo/mail
but I always get this error message
"Please use your blackberry device to access this site.
    Desktop browser not supported."
its weird because I am using my blackberry device.
    I have a Curve 8520.
Any Ideas on what is causing this problem?
    thank you

    Hmmm...quite strange...
    I suggest the following steps:
    1) Register HRT
Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > BBKey (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
    2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you!

  • Firmware update and Solar Power monitor

We have a solar power monitor that feeds information to the electricity company via our hub. It is connected directly to the router. Recently the connection has dropped. The cable is not loose. The electricity company suggest I contact BT to find out if a firmware update had been put through on my line, as that may have closed a port.
I've spoken to three BT people on the phone, none of them knew what i was talking about. Can anyone here assist?
    Thanks

If you had to manually forward any ports, then you would have to set them up again. This guide may help.

If you have a home hub 3 version A, then port forwarding can be very difficult to get working.

  • Cisco Jabber for Blackberry

    Hi Jabber Experts,
I was trying with Cisco Jabber IM for Blackberry(9700) , i had manually loaded the application on the device and chose the CUPS(On-Premise) mode installation. I was able succesfully login with my CUPC login credentials. I could see all my contacts, presence info and chat. But Iam not able to place a call. I tried to search one of the contact profile and see no  information there, though my desktop(cupc) application all the contact profiles populated with required informations(work phone, cell, email)
We have a LDAP integration on CUPS.
Please advice how can i place a call from my Cisco Jabber Application?
    Regards

    Hi Binu,
Cisco Jabber for Blackberry probably has similar causes for failure to register as the Android version.   You may wish to check out the "Cisco Jabber Registration Fails" section at the following URL for ideas:

  • Any roadmap to have to Lync client for Blackberry 10?

...with full feature support of course (phone, video, presence,...).
I know there are still some challenges like at current time with BB10 OS (like you must keep you app in an active frame), but these limitations will soon go away with the new OS version (http://devblog.blackberry.com/2013/05/blackberry-jam-headless-invoke/?CPID=E10C020,
new Background Services framework which allows developers to bundle a separate process with their application to run in the background without a UI)
The Lync for Mac version still lacks of some critical phone features not being implemented (delegate support, team-call group members, wireless QoS tagging 802.11e,...)

    Hi,
There is currently no Lync client available for Blackberry (RIM) devices. Sorry to say I also did not find any roadmap about lync for Blackberry 10.

  • Unable to log into Facebook for BlackBerry 10 since last year

Please help me understand why the facebook app for BlackBerry 10 doesn't allow me to login at all. See the attached screen shot which may not successfully load (error message reads as follows "sorry, an unexpected error occurred. Please try again later), I haven't had the chance to even submit my login credentials. This has happened every single time I click the app for several months now.
Bought my Z30 last year summer/ fall and love it except for the lack of app selections.
However no luck even after the two BlackBerry 10 OS updates to 10.2.1 and the last two Facebook for BlackBerry 10 updates to 10.4.0.12. Un-installing, re-installing, deleting from phone and also removing from My BlackBerry World account did not work.
I have no problems logging into the facebook app made for iPhone, iPad. I'm able to login into my Facebook on Mac computer. Windows computer and even on the BlackBerry browser.
I have already exhausted my options with hours on the phone with tech support at Phone company.
I am hoping I can get some help without having to wipe my phone completely or having to send it into the phone company.
In addition, they will give me a loaner which so far I'm told all their stores only have z10 and no Z30s to give me while my Z30 will be in for repairs.
Any useful advice would be appreciated. Please read the above in its entirety before responding so you will know what I have already done.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Problem with Yahoo Messenger for Blackberry 10

    Hi Blackberry Team,
I've recently encountered a problem with Yahoo Messenger 10.1.0.88 on my Blackberry Q10 running OS 10.1.0.4181 software. It had been working fine for like a month after I purchased this phone from the authorized shop in Thailand until a few days ago it started showing the message within seconds after signed-in: 'Your connectino to the instant messaging provider has been lost. You can wait for the connection to be re-established or close the application and try logging in later'.
This is only when I'm on 3G cellular network. It works fine through Wi-Fi connection.
I did some research on website and found that the latest version of Yahoo Messenger for Blackberry is actually 10.1.1.16 released on Sep 30th, 2013 but, for some unknown reasons, my Blackberry World only shows the '10.1.0.88' (which already installed on my phone) as the latest version.
I really need this for work as I'm communicating with international bankers over yahoo. Please help look into this problem and get it fixed at your earliest possible. Thank you.

I have the same problem with my z10 always unknown error it getting me crazy
