Solaris 10 05/08 Jumpstart install failing on V40z server's

Hi all
When I try to rejump A Sun fire V40z server with Solaris 10 05/08 I
get the following errors:
1.

After these errors the jumpstart process continues as exspected

Begin script install_begin execution completed.

I guess I need to patch the miniroot to add the correct mpt driver.

  • Solaris 10 x86 u5 dhcp and jumpstart install fail

    hello
I have problem in solaris 10 u5 jumpstart install.
I can use jumpstart install with dhcp and get a static ip address (assigned by dhcp server) before solaris 10 u3.
But now I can't use jumpstart install in solaris 10 u5 without setting up a static ip address in sysidcfg.
    I have many x86 machines.
If I have to set up every different sysidcfg for every machine when I install a new machine.
I will get into big trouble.

I think that you should modify the script discovery-install, so you'll be able to create the sysidcfg file dynamically. I had the same problem as you and there is a possibility to add some arguments to the boot command that you execute at the ok prompt. These arguments can be defined in the discovery-install script. It's quite easy.

  • Solaris 10 x86 JumpStart install not working

I'm working with several Compaq DL380 servers.
    I've installed Solaris 10 x86 3/05 onto DL380 #1, and created a 3GB servername.flar Flash Archive of that system.
I've moved that .flar file to a local web server. I can bring it up in any host's browser on the local subnet, and am able to download the .flar file.
Now, on DL380 #2, I can install Solaris from CDs and open Mozilla and download the 3GB .flar file to /tmp. So, it is reachable. However, if I do a re-install, and this time specify a JumpStart install via HTTP, entering the URL that works, the install program tells me that it can't find a Flash Archive there. I'm entering the URL as http:/10.20.30.40/servername.flar, where 10.20.30.40 is the local web server. This is the same URL that works on other local hosts. (i.e. going to http:/10.20.30.40/ brings up the list of files, and a right-click on servername.flar gives you the option to download it, which I've tried and it does work - it takes a few hours, but it works)
I tried HTTPS first and when I encountered this issue I reconfigured the web server for just HTTP. Then I thought the Flash archive must require a .flar filename extension (I had originally called it servername.archive) so I created a new Flash archive with a .flar extension - servername.flar.
So, the same system, when installed from CDs, can access the web server and download the .flar file, but when re-installing and specifying the same URL it can't find it. I'm giving the DL380 #2 the same IP, same netmask, etc.. when doing the re-install.
I can't think of anything else to try. Any ideas?
    thanks!

  • Solaris 10 x86 jumpstart installing from cd instead of install server

    Hi all,
I am building a Solaris 10 x86 jumpstart server and was able to jump the client to a certain point. The jump appears to be running but for some reason stops after the first CD ( very peculiar considering the jumpstart is automated). After watching the jump, I discover that the install is using my CD to install rather than from the install server. It is, however, getting the sysidcfg info, rules and profiles from my install server. I booted from CD and then selected Custom Jumpstart to install via the network. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?
    Here is my add_install_client command:
    /jumpstart/OS/Solaris_10_x86_2006-06/Solaris_10/Tools/add_install_client -s server1:/jumpstart/OS/Solaris_10_x86_2006-06 -c server1:/jumpstart -p server1:/jumpstart/Sysidcfg host1 i86pc
Here is the output from that command:

BTW, can someone tell me how to create a grub floppy? Can't seem to find any documentation on that!

  • ProClarity 6.3 PAS install fails on Windows Server 2012

We are trying to install PAS 6.3 on Windows Server 2012 and the install fails with the following error
    The following requirements are missing:
    Windows Server 2003 SP1
We have successfully installed on Windows Server 2008 R2, so it really isn't a Windows Server 2003 SP1 issue.
Has anyone successfully installed on Windows Server 2012?  Is there a way to force the installer not to check for the OS?
    Thanks.
    Kevin

I have a PAS server running in Windows 2012, by doing exactly the same pre-requisites  that you do in Windows 2008 r2 (iis, Framework, SQL ADO 2005 / 2008). With the Windows Server 2003 SP1 message you can avoid it by doing a really simple thing that
is right click the setup file --> properties, and head to the "Compatibility Tab" and run it with compatibility mode Windows 7, also run it with Admin permissions. This let you pass by the message and let you install the product.  Remember, after  the
installation, you need to check all the IIS config, folder permissions, that you did in Windows 2008 x64  installation. Also, the App pool needs to work with .NET 2.0 not 4.0.
    Good luck!

I think the clearest statement about this is on page 11 of the Master Guide (SAP BPC 7.0 M Master Guide at [http://service.sap.com/instguidesEPM-BPC]).
Look at the rows for OLAP Server and Microsoft SQL Server.  In each of those, you wil find this statement:
"Can be 64‒bit when separate from Application/web services"
On page 10 in the Installation Guide, for look at the rows for Application server Web Server.  The prerequisites are as follow:
    App Server:
Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard or Enterprise Edition SP2 (32-bit) configured with NTFS, set to English (United States)
    Web Server:
Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard or Enterprise Edition SP2 (32-bit) configured with NTFS
Finally, the PAM is a bit confusing.  For product SAP BPC 7.0 FOR MICROSOFT, click on the tab Operating Systems and then click on the tab BPC Server.  That is the software that you install for the Application Server and the Web Server server types.  The Operating System Version listed is WINDOWS SERVER 2003/IA32 32BIT

So, I've managed to research this some more since Thursday and I've come to the conclusion that Hyper-V does a horrible job of supporting Qualcomm NIC cards. That's the only thing I can conclude as far as where the issue is originating. I've read many
post and walkthroughs but nothing that has helped. The issue wasn't with any settings in the domain controller. The issue was that there really is a slow connection originating at the domain controller that is a VM and has network connectivity through the
virtual switch from Hyper-V. So, next question is, how do I get the DC to have better connectivity through the NIC that Hyper-V won't give it? If hyper-v would allow passthrough, this would be so much simpler. VM-ware is looking really good at this point.
Im disappointed in MS right now.

Hello all, I am trying to install essbase server(V 11.1.2.3) on Red hat Linux 6, 64 bit. Have already installed Foundation Services on Windows 2008. Nothing has been configured yet. On the Linux install, the install of the common components fails. I have looked around in the forums and also in Oracle Support(Doc ID 1360561.1) and looks like it is a known issue. There is discussion that this is because of a few rpm's missing on the linux server. However I could not find a definite answer as to what exact package it was or if it actually is a rpm issue in the first place. Could someone please throw light on what exactly is causing the issue and what exact package is required. Thanks.

Do the following to check the SMS self-signed certificates
    Start MMC.exe
Add/Remove Snapin -> Select Certificates -> Select local computer
    Locate the SMS folder
Find the SMS Signing certificate and SMS Encryption Cerrtificate - check if they have expired. If they have expired - delete them.
    Retry client installation

  • Install fails on Windows Server 2003

    Windows Server 2003 SP2
Installation disappears after the copying step is completed and then the "*Publishing Product Information*" step begins
In the log file, after the following line, the copied files are deleted and the registry entries are removed.
    InstallFinalize. Return value 2.
Anybody have an idea how to get around this? We tried granting the "Impersonate a Client After Authentication" privilege to the Local user in the Administrators group doing the installation, to no avail.

After the user logged off and then back on the "Impersonate" privileges took effect and the install completed successfully.

  • Problem with Jumpstart install

    Hi,
I'm having a serious problem installing an x86 Solaris 10 with Jumpstart. I have a server with the profiles and rules, everything is ok I think. The server has a DCHP service running, and I start the target machine from the net. When switched on, it connects to server, get IP address and paramenters, and the Grub menu appears with the correct option to select. I select it and the process begin. First, the language selection page asks for the language, then, the process make the partitions, and start the copy of files (graphic mode). After some hours (the files are the Solaris 10 operative system itself and a flash image from other machine), the file copy process finishes, and, after some other tasks, the machine reboots. And here is where the problem appears.
At booting, I select to boot from the first hard disk drive (where the files have been copied, where the OS resides), and the following message appears: Bad PBR sig. Searching in forums, I have read that message means there is no active partition or it's impossible to find the master boot record.
Booting with a CD, I see there is an active partition, and it is the correct partition. So the problem is that there is no master boot record. Again, searching the net, I read that there are two ways of write a MBR: the command Installboot and the command Installgrub.
I boot from solaris 10 CD and enter the command Installboot, and it says that it's obsolete, so I try with Install grub this way: (note: when booting with Solaris CD, it detects a Solaris installed in /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0, and ask me if I want to mount it in /a, I answer yes because I think that I need to use the information of grub at /boot/grub of the hard disk)
    installgrub -m /a/boot/grub/stage1 /a/boot/grub/stage2 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0
After that, I rebooted the machine and when it starts (from hard disk), the only thing that occurs is that the word GRUB appears.. and nothing else. A flashing cursor at the end of the word GRUB. Nothing to do. The only way to get out of there, is switching off and then on again.
The first time I tried to install, I did the same but without mounting the disk, and with the command installgrub -m /boot/grub/stage1 /boot/grub/stage2 /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0s0
Here is the profile at Jumpstart:

Please, need some urgent help to solve this problem. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks.

    Paco,
Quizas deberias de tratar de instalar tus file systems, y sincronizarlos durante el jumpstart. In other words, you should try to mirror your drives during jumpstart. I see you are using cylinders instead of MB sizes, and unless there is a particular reason why you're doing it that way, I suggest you mirror like this:
    filesys mirror:d10 c0t0d0s0 c0t1d0s0 /
    filesys mirror:d20 c0t0d0s1 c0t1d0s1 /swap
de este modo, una vez el sistema operativo instale, los cambios necesarios al bootenv.rc seran implementados por el sistema operativo.
You should also make sure if you have a live system, that the secondary drive (DRIVE-1) you are trying to boot has been setup with the master boot record:
    fdisk -B /dev/rdsk/c0t1d0p0
And make sure your /boot/solaris/bootenv.rc file shows an "alternateboot" property.
    Saludos,

  • Solaris 10 DVD install fails at 90%

Hi, this is my first time posting here. I've used a variety of linux distributions for a few years now: first Red Hat, then Suse, then Ubuntu, and currently Gentoo. So I have familiarity with installs and *nix systems.  Now I'm trying to install Solaris 10 on a second hard drive with the install DVD that I burned from a download.  After a few tries, and learning some Solaris command line, I went ahead and selected my custom packages, then made my custom partitioning layout on the second disk, then I began the package install.
It took a while, so I was not there the whole time, but before the error, package install was at 90%. I know I had enough room on the partition for all the packages. After checking the system again I found that it had stopped, and began complaining about not finding packages on the install disk.
I tried the install again, this time with a minimum of my intervention and custom packaging selection. Again the install fails after it is mostly installed. After learning how to mount an IBM formatted disk, I copied the install logs to it, and I'd like to attach them to this post, but I can't see how to do that, if anyone can tell me how to add log files, I'd appreciate it. I just don't want to paste their entire contents here because they're too large.
Thanks in advance for the help,
    Sam

Hi. I had your same problem with Solaris Express Developer Edition 01/08.
The PC was complaining about the failed installation of some packages:
    SUNWsndmr
    SUNWsndmu
    SUNWsolnm
I suspected they were audio drivers and/or libraries.
So I decided to do an absolutely minimum installation and I even excluded anything that was unnecessary and Audio-related. Actually Solaris Installer complained about unsatisfied USB debendencies, but went on anyway...
    And it worked!
    Solaris completed the installation.
I don't know if it's possible to add the left out drivers in a second moment yet. We'll see.
Maybe I'm wrong but, from your logfiles you seem to have a similar problem with:
    SUNWgttf
    SUNWgnome-config
    SUNWgnome-vfs-root
And I suspect it may be due to a CD/DVD read error.

  • Solaris 10 x86 Jumpstart unassisted install

How do you get a Solaris 10 x86 jumpstart to actually work?!?! Everytime I try to jump an X4500 it will go into an assisted solaris install. It reads my sysidcfg and the majority of my profile. But I have to sit and manually enter the partition information. I've tried multiple variations of "install dhcp" and "nowin" in the boot options to no avail.

    Here is the error output:
    # ./add_install_client -i 192.168.1.51 -c sun1:/jumpstart/ -p sun1:/jumpstart/Sysidcfg/Solaris_10-intel/ host2 i86pc

So, I have tried this with the -i, -e -i+-e, with -s and without.
I have an entry in /etc/ethers and /etc/hosts. However, I don't think it is a FQDN or simular issue. Looks like a script issue.
