Solaris 10 11/06 - Cannot access external web sites from server

Hi,
I am relatively new with Solaris so I hope this is something simple. I just installed Solaris 10 11/06 with the `Secure By Default` option.
From the command line I can use dig and nslookup to resolve external web sites fine, but if I try to use the update conection manager (desktop), mozilla browser (desktop), or pkg-get (command line) it fails to resolve the external sites. I have a valid resolv.conf file and I have named installed and running.
It is on a LAN with other servers that have no problems with external access. I am running as root in all instances, so is there some permissions issue I am missing with this install/release?
I don't want to open up the install more than I have to.

I figured it out. The nsswitch.conf file was not referencing dns as part of the `hosts` and ipnodes` resolution methods. Once I added this and restarted named it worked.

Sorry, you cannot downgrade iOS software.
First thing to try is a reboot of your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appear. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.

I cannot access common web site like Paypal. I get an "Untrusted Connection" screen. I have accessed Paypal in the past. This also happens with Capital One.

Just in the past week, when I try to access many web sites, including PayPal and Capital One, I get a Untrusted Connection screen and it prevents me from entering these sites.

in case the error code equals ''sec_error_unknown_issuer'', please attempt to add an exception on the bottom of the error page & inspect the certificate (see the screenshot attached for instructions):
* which '''issuer information''' does the certificate contain?

I can access the BBC website through a proxy so it is definitely up.
Had similar probs a couple of weeks ago and it took ages to fix, I hope we're not in for a long wait again.

Cannot access certain web sites through Airport Extreme Base Station

I use the old (round) Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS). Approximately three weeks ago I could no longer connect to americanexpress.com or to Godaddy or their mail servers. About a week ago the Godaddy sites started working again, but the American Express sites are still not working.
My current setup:
- AEBS connected to Time Warner New York cable modem
- Three Airport Express units - two connected to speakers, and one set up with WDS to provide Ethernet access to computer (PowerMac G5), which is in a separate room from cable modem
- I also have an Airport card in my G5 to connect directly to the wireless network (but that doesn't solve any of my problems)
I have tried resetting all the units, and have also tried running the network with all the Airport Express units turned off, none of which as allowed me to access American Express.
I have the exact same problems with my work-issued Windows 2000 laptop when logged in to the wireless network.
When I plug a computer directly in to the cable modem, I have no problem accessing any of the sites, which leads me to believe that the solution somehow lies with the AEBS - I just can't figure out what it is.
Any help/suggestions are much appreciated.

If you're having trouble with throughput performance or just connecting to some websites, try changing the MTU value, on your Mac, to 1492. (The default value is 1500.) To do so, you can use a utility, like Cocktail or via OS X's Terminal.
MTU will vary with connection type. Cable and non-PPPoE, can use up to 1500, whereas PPPoE connections (WinPoet, RASPPPOE, Enternet, etc.) can only use up to 1492. For secure VPN connections (i.e., IPSec) use a MTU value less than 1500.
The best value for MTU is that value just before the packets get fragmented. To test, use the Ping utility.
OS X: ping -D -s 1472 www.dslreports.com
WinXP: ping -f -l 1472 www.dslreports.com
Reduce 1472 by 10 until you no longer get the “packet needs to be fragmented” error message. Then increase by 1 until you are 1 less from getting the same error message. Add 28 more to this (since your ping packet size, not including IP/ICMP header is 28 bytes). This will be your MaxMTU. (Note: If you can ping thru at 1472, stop, you’re done! Add 28 and your MaxMTU is 1500.)

Cannot Add Additional Web Site To Server

Hey All
I have a Mac Mini running Leopard Server 10.5, I have web the web service running pointing to my specific directory /Library/Webserver/intranet
All of my files are in there and everything is working just perfectly now, but i am trying to add an additional site to this directory but when trying to access via the browser it just does not load, i get a error message saying the requsted URL was not found on this server. The server URL is http://intranet
and the page i am trying to access is http://intranet/ERP.
Can anyone help at all ?

I have all my files either named index.htm or default.htm, i have added these to the default site names in server admin adn they work perfectly, its basically the same as apple's site where you can go to apple.com and the page is found and you could go to www.apple.com/mac and that site is brought up, on mine i can go http://intranet and the site is brought up and i could type http://intranet/mac and it is brought up fine, I have downloaded a couple different website templates and added them to my web folder, tried the address and it does not bring them up ?
I am really puzzled as to why i have it all working apart from not being able to add more page's

Xcelsius SWF with QaaWS through SSL: Cannot access external data

I am getting the following error while loading Xcelsius Dashboard in https mode.
Error: Error #2170, Cannot Access External Data
Connection Type: Query as a Web Service
To access external data, add a cross-domain policy file to the external data web server.
The same dashboard is working on the following conditions:
1) In http mode(both from a hosted website and from a clarity portlet)
2) When I click preview from Xcelsius designer.
3) When I run the .swf file directly.
The error is coming only when I host the swf file into a website (or running from a clarity portlet).
I am using the following cross-domain-policy file.

I am facing the #2032 Error while running the Dashboard in portal developed using SAP Netweaver BW connection.
Scenario:
1>Actually our dashboard changes as fiscal year or budget type changes,so we have set trigger for the queries.
2>for 3-4 trigger times the dashboard changes as required without any error but after that when we change fiscal year or budget type it shows the following error:
Error:"Cannot Access External Data"
{ The BICS Remote web Service could not process your request.Open a CSN message on component BW-BEX-ET-XC and attach the technical details of the error from the following link:

This error will popup and then the dashboard randomly displays data for some queries and for some it does not pull data.
After reloading the dashboard it runs fine for 3-4 times after that it again shows the error.This happens for 4-5 times then dashboard stucks at Initializing Screen for 10 mins then #2032 error comes.Then we restart our developement portal and the Dashboard runs fine for some time.
This happens even while triggering 4 queries.
We have

 SAP EHP 1 for SAP NetWeaver 7.0

Dont know how to check Java Stack Version.

Cannot start default web site

I was being a nice husband and moving my wife to a new machine while she is in India on business. I went to join the machine using the connector and the connector install failed. During the troubleshooting of this issue I installed patches and rebooted.
I do not often patch so there were a few. Upon reboot I am unable to start the default website. I get the error This website cannot be started. Another website may be using the same port. I also did a netstat –o to see if anything was running on port 80. Can
anyone assist me?

What's your mean of "cannot start default web site"？
If you mean that the client can't access the website, please follow the troubleshooting steps below:
Please try to ping an external IP address. If timeout occurs, this is a connectivity issue. You need to check the IP address, netmask, gateway, DNS.
Please try to run nslookup www.microsoft.com. If this website can't be resolved, this is a DNS issue. Please check the DNS settings and the firewall settings.
If all these tests passed, please try to reset your Internet Explorer.
If you mean that the server can't start the website in IIS, please check if there is any warning or error in the event viewer of the server. Besides, please try to start the IIS manually. If any error pops up, please post it here. It may give some hints.

Cannot access external data , Failed to get the document information.

Hi All,
In my dashboard there are live office connections which has optional prompts defined in SAP BI. I have bound the cells to these prompts in live office object properties.
There are no errors while refreshing the LO connections from excel sheet.
But when i run that dashboard and give BLANK value for that prompt then it throws the error :
Cannot access external data , Failed to get the document information. (LO 26315).

I am building a similar solution as yours connecting webi reports to Bex queries and reading the webi data through live office into the dashboards. I am using almost similar versions as yours - BW 7.1 SP5, BO 4.1 SP4, Dashboards and Live Office SP4 versions. I am facing issues setting up the live office connections itself. I create the Live office connections within an excel and when I try to import this excel spreadsheet into my dashboard designer, it runs forever and crashes.
Could you please list out the steps you performed to get the Dashboard to preview live office data? Do you have OLAP connections for BW cubes and created WebI reports using these connections or You created a Universe on top of the Bex Queries?
It would be great if you could share the steps performed.
With respect to your issue, check if the report engine service is running. Do you have any error message details apart from this error?

Accessing external web service with non-constant URL

Hello, all
I am looking in the documentation on accessing external web services, but either I am looking in the wrong place, or the documentatoin is lacking info.
My clients have several web services in the local network (regular services, not DB-based), the have the same interface, but different URL's.
Versions of the DB are 11, 12, and 16.
First of all, I do not see in the specs an option for a non-hardcoded URL. The logic says that this has to be possible, but I cannot find it.
Second, I need to see an example of accessing an XML or JSon based service, I cannot find it in the specs either.
Can anyone point me to a document with examples?

The following will call a web service with whatever URL you pass in as the argument "myurl". I think that is what you are looking for.

Cisco WS-SVC-NAM-2 Upgrade to 6.0.2; cannot access management web page

I upgraded our WS-SVC-NAM-2 which resides on a 6500, from version 5.1.2.1 to 6.0.2, to include patch2 . Everything seemed ok, however, regardless if I enable http or ip http secure server enable, we cannot access the management site with eithrer FireFox or IE. Status bar shows Internal 500 error, in FF shows "Problem Loading Page" The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with Java, or crypto keys? Here are the patches loaded:

This is an Upgarde Procedure ,however if you use the --install command during the Upgarde Procedure ,it will wipeout the old data and NAM will be like a factory Installed and then it will upgarded to New Version.
Follow the below link ,in the step 5:
Step 5 Upgrade the NAM application software as follows:
DON NOT USE THIS
root@localhost# upgrade ftp-url
where ftp-url is the FTP location and name of the NAM software image file
or
USE THIS ONE
root@localhost# upgrade ftp-url --install
Note The --install keyword clears and recreates all of the NAM partitions; this action is similar to restoring the factory-default state. If you use the --install keyword, the previously stored reports and data (if any) will be lost.

Cannot access external data - xcelsius

Hi All,
We are currently building QAAWS connections based on the existing webI reports and universes (BO 4.1 SP2 & Dashboard Designer). However, while executing the dashboards on iPad we are getting an error message "cannot access external data". Please confirm if QAAWS is supported on iPads or not. If not, is there any SCN official PAM / document for the same. And, what is the workaround or alternative to QAAWS, since re-mapping is required for the existing dashboards as well.

Thanks for the needed details.
I have gone through the SCN note 1970047 which talks about user id / pass should be hardcoded within your dashboard for QAAWS. However, I am still getting an error "Cannot Access External Data: Failed while trying to log on user Sameer. RFC error: Number:000 (USER_OR_PASSWORD_INCORRECT)" EVEN if I provide my enterprise credentials and click on preview. The same credentials works for me on BI Launchpad (same web server URL).
Is there any permanent solution / alternate to this issue? We do have a generic enterprise ID, but I should not get the above mentioned error anytime.
