Solaris 10 11/06 X64 on HP DL585 networking not recognized

Im trying to install Solaris 10 on a HP DL585. I found a driver for the P400 disk array controller, so I have that working and can recognize the RAID volumes. However, during install, Solaris normally queries you for networking info. It's not doing that during the install making be believe that it does not recognize the network adapter on the HP DL585 box. I could not find any drivers on the HP/Solaris download site for networking (except one which you can load after the install).
The problem is that I have no idea how to configure networking from scratch. I have always had at least the devices defined, even if not plumbed.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the networking devices recognized at install time so I can at least get the devices created?

Odd, I shut down last night after messing with this all evening, rebooted the laptop this morning and ran:
update_drv -a -i '"pci8086,1092"' iprb
And it took! An "ifconfig -a plumb" then brought in the interface. I haven't plugged it into a switch yet, but barring any unforeseen weirdness, it looks like it will work.

  • Solaris installaton on Sony Vaio PCG-F707 network not working

    Hi,
I am new to Solaris, I use unix as a developer no admin experience. I try to install it on my laptop Sony Vaio PCG-F707, which is an European model equivalent to PCG-F403 of american model.
It detects the display and mose properly. There is an IRQ conflict(IRQ 5) with the sound blaster and PNP device. My network card is on the docking system it connected to the USB. Window detected it as KLSI USB Ethernet Adapter. Physical address is: 08-00-46-02-91-3D.
Everytime it boots shows the message IRQ conflict. I tried to delete the device and mannually assign the IRQs, but it dectects auto metically and override that. In desktop It saying no sound device found.
Network is not detected probably. It is showing only one driver to lo0 (127.0.0.1). It successfully pings to localhost only. It doesn't ping to any other window box in the network neither to the netgear router.
I also try to check the other USB port, by connecting the sony digital camera, it didn't detected by the camera browser program.
I disable the Plug & Play from the bios and reboot no difference.
I like the Solaris software very much wish to use it, but without network and sound, it is no use. Please help me on this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I am also new to Solaris and I have very similar problem with installation of Solaris 10 on HP Server tc2120.
In my case, there is no conflict.
Network monitor is showing only one connection; lo0 (127.0.0.1). I am not able to see and configure the internal network adapter : Integrated Broadcom NC7760 10/100/1000
Can anyone help me how to configure (to assign IP address; gateway etc..) network adapter on Solaris?
    Thanks in advance..

  • Known networks not recognizing

Below is a post from Mac Rumors, but it discribes my problem perfectly.
BTW: Mac Rumors did not solve the problem on the thread located here:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1408213
Every time I open my MacBook Pro it requires that I select a wi-fi network to join. We have a wi-fi (modem and wireless router) set up in our house and this network is available and we simple select this wi-fi network each and every time. This has become tiresome and under System Preferences, Network, just below Network Name, is a yes/no check box that states that "Known networks will be joined automatically. If no known networks are available, ..."
I'm curious as to how to make our wi-fi connection a "known" network to eliminate the need to select this network each and every time we open up our MacBook Pro.
    Thank you

It Is Because Your Ipod Touch's automatically connect to known networks feature is not enabled , To Enable , Go to settings , and go to WiFi and Tick the Automatically connect to known networks .

  • Officejet 7000 network not recognized. Lights blink at printer connection and then go out

I plug in the network cable and the lights blink and then go out. The connection to the router is not established

    Ok,
First, unplug both the printer and the router power for 30 seconds and check for any change,
if the same persists, try plugging the ethernet cable from your printer to your PC and check if the same behavior occours.
If so, than it seems like the printer eternet card is damaged, which will require service
If it is connecting with your PC, so the issue may be related with your router,

  • External harddrive in network not recognized by windows XP

    Hi,
I have an external harddrive (Iomega), FAT partioned, that windows, via bootcamp, will recognize. When I connect the ext. harddrive to my apple extreme, it is recognized by Apple but not by Windows XP SP2.

    Thanks in advance

Have you installed the Airport Disk application on the Windows XP SP2?

  • Solaris 10 x86/x64 on NVidia ION

    Hello guys,
is it possible to install Solaris 10 x86/x64 on the NVidia ION-Platform? Are there any successful installations? For me it is important to know about the Point-of-view ION/330. This board I think is for a little home server a great performance/watt - system under 50W total power consumtion.
I hope anybody can help me.

    Hi,
I was successfully installed Solaris 10 on NVidia, and no troubles yet. But make sure to install latest version of Solaris i.e "Solaris 10 5/09", it'll install all drivers for Nvidia mother board by default. Otherwise you would have to face some problems to get the desktop.
    Thanks

  • JRock Kit for Solaris 10 x86/x64

    Hi,
Why don't exist a Jrock Kit distribution for
    Solaris 10 x86/x64?
    I have Bea 8.1, 9.2 for Solaris 10
    x86/x64 and now Oracle 10g Rel 2 and I don't understand why
    BEA don't release it.
    Thanx
    Giancarlo

Porting JRockit to new OSes/architectures is very expensive, so we have to prioritize the porting effort based on customer interest, and there has been very little demand for JRockit on Solaris/x86. Most customers purchasing Sun x86 hardware use Windows or Linux.

  • WLAN driver fails to install on G580 Windows 7 x64 with error "BCM4313: Can not find setup file"

    Summary:
I have installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my G580.  Everything is working fine except the WLAN driver fails to install with the error "BCM4313: Can not find setup file".
    Details:
I bought lenovo G580 with Windows 8.  Since my parents are not comfortable with the learning curve of Win 8, I successfully downgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate x64.  Everything is working fine but my WLAN card is not recognized because of lack of driver.
The lenovo parts look-up page says I have broadcom WLAN card - CBT BCM4313 MOW HMC WLAN
I looked at lenovo driver downloads site and tried following driver files for Windows 7 and both of them failed to install with the following error.  I tried installing other WLAN drivers also but they won't even install as required hardward is not there.
Error -  "BCM4313: Can not find setup file"
    Drivers Tried:
    - http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS028208
Any help about how to get past this error will be appreciated.  The previous Widnows verison (Windows 8) is still on my hard-drive as windows.old folder.  Let me know if I can copy a specific file from there.
    Thank you.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Download this driver bcm4313
Start setup and extract the files. After that go to star menu/control panel/system/device manager. There you probably find out that network adapter driver is missing.Choose it and click with right mb for drop menu to show up.Select properties then Driver/Update Drivers...Select to load driver from computer hard drive and choose the path where extract files is.Default path is main partion C: and search for directory named Driver.
And yes...you get "Can not find setup file" error but dont worry.Files needed to instal driver are extract fine.

  • Solaris 10 on x86 Integrated Intel PRO/100 VM not recognized

I just installed Solaris 10 on a compaq evo 510 and the adapter is not recognized. I did not get any network config questions during the install. I have ran sys-unconfig and same thing. I typw ifconfig -a and I only see the loopback. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am very new to the unix environment. This card appears to be on the HCL and I have searched everywhere and tried many different things to no avail. thanks in advance.

For booting Arch you will need to update bios in ThinkPad 600E.
    http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc … sdin36.exe
After that, you will be able to boot from cd without any problem, but problem with network is still persistent. There seems to be some issue between PCMCIA interface and sound on ThinkPad 600E, but I still havent found a way to fix it.

  • If I connect a time capsule via ethernet to an existing internet connection and use it to create a private wifi network for my wireless devices, will other users on the primary network (not the private wifi one) be able to access my files on my TCapsule?

Like it says in the title basically.
I want to use a time capsule to store my files and backups and access it from my phone and MacBook Air. However I do not want the others in my house who are currently connected to the same wifi/ethernet router to use my connection or my TC hard drives.
I had also been thinking about wirelessly extending the wifi network (a linksys N router) but I guess that will allow everyone to access my Time Capsule?
I hope you guys can help me.
    Regards, Guido

......will other users on the primary network (not the private wifi one) be able to access my files on my TCapsule?
No, if you have not provided them with the Time Capsule device password.
Users will be able to "see" the Time Capsule icon under the SHARED heading in the Finder on their Macs, but they will not be able to access the drive or the files.
I had also been thinking about wirelessly extending the wifi network (a linksys N router) but I guess that will allow everyone to access my Time Capsule?
    Same answer as above.

  • IPhone name not recognized by Win7 x64

    Hi,
I have 2 iPhone 4, both are using one Apple universal docker to connect to PC, phone has its own name, and diaplay properly on PC wherever the device name is used, ie, under My Computer, Portable Devices. iPhone 4 are shown as A's iPhone or B's iPhone, as Digital Camera.
I encountered this issue after installed iTunes 10.5 or upgraded to iOS 5, I am not sure which one caused the problem. The issue is, B phone is no longer recognized as B by Win7 x64, while A phone has no problem at all, both are with iOS 5.
When I put B phone to docker or even connect to PC directly, it is always recognized as A, the device name is always A's name, but the content (camera photo etc) is still B's content.
When using iTunes, phone's name displays correctly.
I connected B phone to another USB port which is never used by iPhone before, Win7 detected and tried to download/install and finally, B phone is shown as Apple Portable Device, no Phone Name, not as Digital Camera as before. Again in iTunes, both phones are shown correctly with their own name.
Not a big issue but a little bit confused, how to correct device name here?
    Thanks

Type "iphone not recognized by itunes" in the search box at the top of this page.

  • ITunes is not recognizing or connecting to network

My iTunes is not recognizing or connecting to my network. Everytime I try to update my iPhone 4S to the its latest OS software or update my apps via iTunes Store, it prompts up an error message as:
'The iPhone software update server could not be contacted.
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later.'
My net otherwise is working to the best of its abilities without any glitches whatsoever.
If I were to change any settings or anything else, please let me know.
Your help would be very much appreciated.
    Thank you.

try a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
Try restarting your iPad : press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears, then drag the slider; then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears. If the book download doesn't re-start, then you could try downloading the book to your computer and then syncing/copying it across to your iPad.
You could also go to Settings, General, Reset All Settings.
