Solaris 10 - b58 installation fails

I've downloaded b58 of Solaris 10 x86 ... however some packages fail to install during installation:
- Database access failed due to one or more incorrect SQL statements (pkgadd).
It's a non-networked installation. Does anyone have any idea what's causing this? Sol10 is working, but most packages are only partially installed, rendering Sol10 rather useless. I had this very same problem trying to install b55.
Tylan.

Well, I removed that 2nd harddrive. The installation begins fine, no problems there... it's usually somewhere halfway on cd1 or cd2 that these errors appear. But the errors start random - then the installation continues, but the errors remain random.
I noticed however, that SUNWdtdst is usually the first one to fail due to an SQL Statement error.... (I tail the /tmp/install_log every time), but even when this package manages to install succesfully, this very same error appears at the end of cd1. If not, then they surely follow on cd2 after a reboot. I've never made it to cd3 without errors yet.
It doesn't matter if I delete the partitions with fdisk first and try again, nor when I use large slices like 10Gb for root and 10Gb for swap (and no other slices). The funny thing is; Solaris 9 installs succesfully...
I will try installing on another disk one of these days...
I'll also check the message-file then.
Tylan.

  • Solaris 10 Installation FAILED

I am trying to install Solaris 10 on my Sony VAIO Laptop concurrently with Windows XP.
I created a partition of abt 6+ GB and started to install Solaris 10. I started to get s bunch of WARNING msgs before the "searching for windowing system" . the search was complete and it presented me with the graphics and other stuff and I selected the defaults. it went thru all the setups before the installation without probs... at the and of installation (abt 2hrs later) it says "cannot be installed and FAILED".
can anybody please help me with this?
    would really appereciate.
    thank you

I do not know details of Your hardware - it determines possibility of eventual Solaris installation.
I recommend two initial diagnostic steps:
    1) Consult HCL.
    or better:
    2) Download "install_check" program from SUN web page, burn bootable CD and check Your hdw. After acceptation of hdw (at least critical parts - video graphics and disk) installation should proceed without significant problems.
BTW - I hope that there is sufficient RAM in Your laptop (256 MB or more) . Next - 6 GB of disk may be insufficient for full installation and comfortable development of software.
    Good luck!

    Hi.
Strange. I just tried this myself on solaris with no problems. Make sure you are
downloading in binary mode. If you are then I suggest you open a case with support. If
nothing else they can probably provide you with an ftp download.

I don't think the test-scsi command is viable for that platform.
The FC disks are "viewed" by the system as external to the SCSI controller, almost as if they were in a multi-pack.
They are FC drives addressed by the chipset as SCSI disks.
    Try:
    <pre>probe-scsi-all</pre>
    Edit:
Which release of Solaris 10 are you trying to install?
Older releases that might be fine for V480's won't work on V490's.

  • Solaris 10 installation failure from cd's

    Hi All,
I am attempting to install Solaris 10 on my x86 laptop. I run the installation from cd #1 and go through the steps and installation will begin. I am choosing to install the entire distribution and when cd #1 finishes (about 500 mb of the 4000mb) the machine is not prompting for the other cd's. The machine will simply reboot and give "Solaris 10 installation partially failed."
Upon reboot the grub screen appears and it will load and then fail.
Any ideas? Am I missing a step somewhere? Thanks.

Yes, you do need 4GB of swap, but just to not scare anyone off, the installer won't actually use that much memory.
It needs that amount of backing store because during the install, there are several large Java processes forking other Java processes.
I've installed on systems with small memory configs just fine-- crank up the swap to 4GB+ during the install, then get rid of the swap after the install. The install will probably use some of that swap, and because of this may take quite a while to complete, but it will complete just fine.
    Hope that helps,
    - Matt

  • My ISW 6.0 Installation Fails

    Hello,
I originally resurrected a long-dead forum thread from 2007 and attempted to hijack it away for my own question, but a kind forum moderator split it away to become a new question of its own (including reformatting the log excerpt for better readability).
I am trying to install ISW 6.0 sp1 on a Solaris machine with dsee7 already on it.
The installation fails at the very end with the following message:
"Installer cannot upload some entries in the template files. Check the installer's log file for further details."
Upon checking the logs at /var/sadm/install/logs, I see the following towards the end of log file:
    LDAP Error: cn=AccountLockoutParam,ou=Templates,ou=GlobalConfig,ou=1.1,ou=IdentitySynchronization,ou=Services,o=isp: class violation
Expected to find 61 LDAP entries after uploading, but instead found 60
The installer could not upload some of the entries in the template files. Please check the installer's log file for further details.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I suspect a schema problem in your directory, which prevents it from being updated to store the ISW config.
Do you see any error in the directory error log file ?

Just by a STAT() on domain1/config and the absence of .AmAgentLocator file, it has decided that the installation is corrupted.

  • Camera Raw 6.7 Update for Mac OS 10.10:  Installation Failed error message.

Camera Raw 6.7 Update for Mac:  Installation Failed error message.  Update downloaded directly from Adobe website.  Newly purchased Mac Workbook Pro, OS 10.10, using Photoshop CS5. Other updates successfully accomplished.  Camera Raw 6.7 Update was downloaded multiple times with multiple installation attempts. Any recommendations?

thanks for the prompt response...i appreciate it.  according to the link you listed, that's correct.  the strange thing is that prior to the upgrad to mac os 10.8.4, photoshop CS5 was working just fine and i was able to open my canon raw files with my current camera raw plug-in version 6.7 which adobe has indicated is the last camera raw update they'll be offering for cs 5
so it's clearly an issue related to the "upgrade" of the os.  seems like every solution creates 6 new problems...further evidence for the notion that if it ain't broke don't fix it!  thanks again.

  • I purchased and downloaded Photoshop Elements 13, but the installer fails to initialise. How do I get it to work?

I have Photoshop Elements 10 and Premier Elements 10 installed on my PC. Both were installed from discs that I bought a few years ago. I recently purchased the upgrade (by download) for both applications to version 13. In accordance with the (scant) instructions received by email, I downloaded the four files required from the Adobe site. I subsequently ran the .exe files, which in turn created directories on my PC, including set-up.exe files for both applications. When I run the setup files, I get an error message stating that the installer failed to initialise. The error message advised me to download the Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem. That tool does not exist. I then sought assistance from the Abobe support site, initially using the hyperlink suggestions, which were of no use, then using the chat function. The operator kept trying to get me to do something with something called 'Creative Cloud'; which I am not familiar with, and do not use. He then instructed me to download and run a CS5 cleaner tool; however, none of the choices offered by that tool include my issue, or either Photoshop Elements or Premier Elements. I am reluctant to uninstall version 10 of the programs in case I end up losing the lot and therefore wasting even more money than the purchase price for this upgrade.
All I want to do is upgrade my two applications from version 10 to version 13. I have paid the requisite fee but it clearly does not work. I appear to have totally wasted my money. Can anyone please tell me how to get it to work? I do not want to have anything to do with the so-called ‘Creative Cloud’ as I have no idea what it is, and I do not want to lose what I already have (and have paid for previously).
I have tried for a few days to access the so-called 24/7 chat assistance but appeared to have been locked out as every time I try to access it, I get a message that the (24/7) chat is closed. Adobe has taken my money for a product that does not work, and also refuse to help me fix it.
I am very frustrated with a product I bought that does not work, and a 24/7 support service that clearly is not 24/7, and which refuses to assist me. Can anyone PLEASE tell me how to get this to work? Rod.

    Hi,
Can you please share the logs?
You can use the Adobe  Log Collector tool (Log Collector Tool) and share the corresponding zip file @ [email protected]
    Thanks,

As 13.1.2 is a subscription patch this would not get applied over 13.0.1.2.
If this still does not resolves your issue, Kindly mail me installer logs.
    For Mac:
    "Library/Logs/Adobe",
    For Win:
    Program Fies(x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Installers
Please mail me @ [email protected]
