Solaris 10 cannot recognize tape device in library.

We have a DLT7000 tape device in a Quantum PX100 library connected to a Solaris 10 server via SCSI Adapter: X6541A. We can see the tape drive via OBP:
/pci@1e,600000/scsi@2
Target b
Unit 0 Removable Tape QUANTUM DLT7000 2565
But when Solaris 10 is loaded, there are no rmt links in the device tree. I've looked at devlinks and st.conf and made the changes I've read about online, but nothing seems to work. I've installed the following QLOGIC drivers, but they do not help. The only thing left is verifying jumpers? Terminators? But the question remains, if the system sees the tape drive at the OBP, then what's going on with the software? There's an sgen.conf file in /kernel/drv, but no sgscan type commands are available to use. I'm at a loss.

Hello,
... connected to a Solaris 10 server via SCSI Adapter: X6541A. We can see the tape drive via OBP ...
... I've installed the following QLOGIC drivers, but they do not help.
Option X6541A is the Dual Differential Ultra/Wide SCSI (PCI) hba. The driver for this hba (based on SYM 53C876 chip) is already included with Solaris to support the integrated SCSI controller of most SPARC systems.
The QLogic drivers support Option X6758A PCI Dual Ultra3 SCSI Host Adapter (LVD).
But when Solaris 10 is loaded, there are no rmt links in the device tree
Rebuild the device tree either with boot -rv from the ok-prompt or devfsadm -c tape.
If you can afford the downtime, I would recommend the first choice.

  • Cannot recognize usb device

When i plug my Iphone 3G in to my XP Windows computer I get the error message "Cannot Recognize Usb Device" it only happens with this phone as I have a Iphone 4 and my computer recognizes it straight away.
    can anyboby help plz?

Have you tried other USB ports? It has to be USB 2.0, the other thing you might do is reset the router and computer - by turning off computer, unplug computer and unplug router, after about 30 seconds plug them back in and turn the computer on.
I walked 4 customers through this yesterday and it worked each time.

  • Cannot create tape device

Hi, maybe someone can help me?
My tape device /dev/rmt/0n was 20Gb in size even though it had no tape in it, after a failed backup.
This was after filling up my hard-drive to 100% capacity, so I decided to delete /dev/rmt/0n and recreate using "devfsadm" or "boot -r" but neither of these commands worked!
Now I cannot connect the tape drive at all as I cannot create /dev/rmt/0n.
Does anybody know how this can be fixed?
    Thanks

My tape device /dev/rmt/0n was 20Gb in size even
though it had no tape in it, after a failed backup.Sound like you mis-specified the destination of your backup and it literally went to a file "/dev/rmt/0n" (overwriting your device file) instead of to tape.
Please run 'drvconfig' then 'tapes'. (Or do a reconfiguration reboot.) This should recreate your device name.

  • TS1368 seems like itunes cannot recognize the device connected to it, please help

my iphone cannot connect to itunes, already tried to check the cable and the usb port of the deskstop pc and even the notebook still the same.. can anyone help me resolve this issue?

Make sure you are using a main USB port off the computer, USB 2.0 is the only way the iPod will function properly. If you are using Windows XP, the iPod will show up under the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon as well as Device Manager. The reason the iPod does not show up in iTunes or My Computer is because the computer thinks the iPod and hard drive are the same letter. To fix this problem follow these steps:
    Go to START
    Control Panel
    Administrative Tools
    Computer Management
Click on Disk Management (Lower Left)
Right Click on the iPod "Drive"
Click on Change Drive Letter and Paths
    Click on Add
    Select any letter above D:
A message will pop-up, click OK
    Restart the computer
Windows will now recognize the iPod as a separate drive in My Computer and it will also appear in iTunes.
The "Do Not Disconnect" icon is normal when the iPod is connected to the computer.
I hope this info is helpful!

  • USB cannot recognize the device when i plugged my ...

    Hello there
I have a problem when i plugged my n95 to the computer, the USB doesn't recognize. Even i tried with settings the device, connect with the PC suite, and also roll back the system in both my computer and n95, tried to connect with another computer but it isn't working also. I posted my problem here because i cannot find anywhere to post, sorry if I posted wrong. And do you have any solutions for me, plz help me.
    My device firmware is v30.0.015
    Thanks you very much

Next thing then would be to ensure that your camera/USB device is installed correctly.  Click here to view Microsoft's web page on this subject.  After installing the USB device, restart your computer.  See if that doesn't do the trick.  If not, we can go from there.

  • My iPad has a passcode on it, but it got typed in too many times, and now it has been disabled.   However, when I try to plug it into iTunes, it tells me it cannot recognize the device until you enter the passcode.

My ipad has been disabled and now I'm trying to get it to work again.  However, when I plug it into my computer it says that i need to type in the passcode, but i can't until it connects to itunes...also, my ipad has only been plugged into my friend's computer.  it has never been plugged into a computer since then.  Would this have anything to do with my problem?

This probably has nothing to do with plugging into your friends computer, but unless you have a backup, everything on the iPad will be lost.
You have to restore the device within iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPad.
You will probably have to use recovery mode

Looks like a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step...

  • I bought an apple iPod 5th generation the other day and I cannot remember the unlock passcode. I have done the restore thing, but because I never set it up or synced it with iTunes, it does not recognize my device. It is disabled for one hour. Please help

I bought an apple iPod 5th generation the other day and I cannot remember the unlock passcode. I have done the restore thing, but because I never set it up or synced it with iTunes, it does not recognize my device. It is disabled for one hour. There's only a few things that could be my passcode, but because it disables for an hour, it is time consuming trying to figure it out. What do I do? I do not care about having to erase everything since it's new and there's nothing on it, but it was never synced with iTunes.

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • I no longer have iTunes library.xml on my PC but I have all of my songs.  How do I download them to my iPhone - it won't allow me to drag and drop though my PC recognizes the device.

My PC has all of my iTunes and it recognizes my iPhone 4 device but I cannot drag and drop the songs.  How do I copy the songs to my new iPhone without having to re-purchase everything?  Unfortunately, It appears I no longer have iTunes Music Library.xml on my PC.

My husband and I are using the same iTunes account on all mac & pc computers, but the libraries are different on each machine.  We always manually manage our music (no auto sync).  iTunes is up to date on the PCs.  My husband uses our joint iTunes account on his pc, but once again, has a different collection in his library from those on the other machines.  He can't load any music from his PC to his iphone 4.  I can load music from my mac library to my iphone 4s, but cannot load from my pc library to my iphone 4s.  How can I switch my main library that it syncs with from the mac to the pc?
    Thanks

  • "USB Device not recognized" -- Computer cannot recognize ipod.

My computer (HP laptop) just, out of nowhere, stoped recognizing my ipod.
The message that comes up is "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows cannot recognize it." It comes up as an "Unknown device" instead of a USB Mass Starage Device or an ipod.
The only reason this problem may have occored is because my friend borrowed it and tried to hook it up to her computer, which is Windows Vista. (Mine is Windows XP) I did not know she was going to hook it up to her computer, so I'm not sure what could have happened. Is there any like between hooking an ipod up to Windows Vista and then trying to hook it up to Windows XP?
I've seen that a lot of other people have had this problem too, but I haven't found any solutions yet. I've tried everything in suport--The 5 R's, Changing to disk mode, chicking my USB drives, ect. I realy would rather not take it to an ipod store, because it costs money.
    Any solutions?

I would be interested in any responses to this problem. We have 2 1st generation nanos and last week both of them stopped being recognized by our computer. We also have 2 2nd generation nanos and a 3rd generation nano. The 2nd and 3rd generation nanos are working fine but both of the 1st generation are having the same issue as RachelRocketship's. We have tried the same solutions that she has with no luck.

  • HT1449 I've transferred my itunes library from PC to Macbook pro running latest itunes and now it will not recognize my iPods (nano 4 and 5th Gen an Ipod touch).  All music is there and playable but will not recognize any devices

I've transferred my itunes library from PC to Macbook pro running latest itunes and now it will not recognize my iPods (nano 4 and 5th Gen an Ipod touch).  All music is there and playable but will not recognize any devices. Help please

The ipod is not a backup/storage device.
You need to copy everything from your old computer to your new one.
The Apple store will do this for you,  you can call apple support and they will help you, you can use google.

  • I installed the upgrade and now itunes can't find my library and doesn't recognize my devices. Using Windows 7. Any help?

Help!!! I installed the 10.5 update and now itunes can't find my library or recognize my devices. Running on Windows 7.

For moving your iTunes library, I recommend this method...
Assuming you use the iTunes default settings where iTunes copied added items to your iTunes folder and organizes your library (meaning - everything is all self contained in the iTunes folder), then all you have to do is drag & drop your iTunes folder (not just the iTunes Music folder you find inside the iTunes folder) to the external drive and copy the entire thing.
If you want to test that it worked or would like to actually start using it from that location instead, use these instructions when you start iTunes to point it to the new location...

If you are just testing, then close iTunes after you verify it works, and restart iTunes again with the same instructions and point it back to your internal drive (original) location.

  • Getting an error 'Cannot open Boot device' while trying to install Solaris

    Hi,
We were trying to install Solaris * on a Sun Sparc system and the CD rom drive does not seem to get recognised. When we try booting from cd rom we get an error 'Cannot open boot device' .
This server was up & running and we were trying to remove a hard disk that had failed and modified the vfstab script . After that the system failed to even boot up. So when we tried reinstalling the OS we are running into this problem.
Am new to this technology ...And any help would be greatly appreciated. .....
    Thanks

Cdrom drive must be scsi device 6
I assume you are running < boot cdrom> at the ok prompt
also at the ok prompt run the command <probe-scsi> (without the angled brackets) you need to see the following:
    Target 6
Unit 0 Removable read only device TOSHIBA XM.......bigpileofnumbers
If not, check the cdrom drive and the cdrom inside
    hope this helps

  • Installed Itunes 10.2.1, can't find library & won't recognize mobile device

I installed the update to 10.2.1 ( not sure why, everything was working just fine) and it gave me an error message that it could not find the library itl. file and was in a music folder location. So, I uninstalled and reinstalled etc. Itunes is working fine now (I think). I thought I had it working and now it will not recognize my mobile device automatically. If I open itunes it will recognize my ipod but will not start automatically as checked. I have done all of the steps on the support website as per uninstalling/reinstalling and starting/stopping/starting mobile support programs and it still will not automatically start when I plug my ipod in. This would not be a big deal but the program I am using to add my library from my ipod onto my itunes will not work unless the mobile support system recognizes the device without prompt. As afore mentioned I had to wipe my old library and this is the best way to restore all of my playlists etc. because my music files did not save playlists. HELP!

OK - pretend I never asked.  I just closed iTunes, disconnected the iPhone, reconnected it and hey presto, it all works again.  I note, however, that it re-installed the USB device driver software when I plugged the iPhone back in.  When I restarted the PC after installing the latest iTunes, I left the phone plugged in, which I guess was the cause.
Do I get points for answering my own question?
