  • Regarding oracle solaris certification

send me detail information regarding oracle solaris certification.Whenever i am trying to look about this it is giving error like this country is not in list for solaris certification

There are several Oracle Solaris certifications, so it is difficult to know which certification you wish to pursue. The certification pages should be available in all countries (tho bigdellboy is correct, the certification may not actually be available in all countries due to US trade embargoes). If the pages are not displaying in your country, this is an issue with the website. Please provide the country from which you are trying to access the pages. If you are uncomfortable posting that information on this forum, please send an email to [email protected] and we will take a look at the web pages in that country to ensure that the settings are correct.
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for bringing this to our attention.

  • Passed 310-200 (OCP Solaris 10 System Administration, Part I) Exam!!!

    Hello Everybody,
Let's share our exam experience and knowledge in this thread.
    Thank you a lot!

NOTHING is allowed, you can come back and refer to ZIP.
    I believe, anyway.
I can also share my thoughts of my first Solaris exam. The lighting was good, the chair was comfortable and I picked locker No.5 outside of the exam room for all of my valuables (remember, you're allowed to take nothing with you .... not even a pen!) on the basis that this used to be my football shirt number and I thought it would bring me luck.
I also had a great view of the Berkshire countryside as it was a lovely, sunny day.

  • Can one get OCP without previously passing OCA- Solaris 10

Looking at the requirements for getting the Solaris 10 Administrator certification, I wonder if I can get certified by passing the two required exams without sitting the OCA exam first. Beside passing CX-310-202 and CX-310-202 there's nothing else listed as a requirement. Solaris 10 certified admin is OCP level.
Do I have to get OCA first before getting OCP or regarding Solaris 10 I can go straight for the OCP level?
Sorry for the noob style, but I haven't been able to find any straightforward answer.

Based on the Solaris 10 Administrator certification path, which can be found at http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=328 , I would say that you need only the CX-310-200 and CX-310-202 exams to obtain the OCP cert. I don't see an OCA cert listed on that page and typically those cert pages list the full path from OCA to OCP and even OCM if one exists for that cert.
With most Oracle certs they force you to obtain the OCA level before going on to OCP and beyond. This exam, however, is one that is ported over from Sun. The FAQ page regarding Sun certifications (http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=82#6Q12C) states the following:
"Will the Sun certification tracks or requirements change?
Sun certification tracks will be modified to follow Oracle’s certification model: Associate, Professional, Master, and Expert. All changes to the Sun certification credential names, tracks, and requirements will be available on the Oracle Certification Program Web page. "
The closest thing I can see to an OCA version of an exam for this cert would be the Oracle Certified Associate, Oracle Solaris 10 Operating System (http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=327). However, on neither of the cert path pages for these exams do I see any connection between the two. Therefore, I don't think it would be a requirement, but I cannot state that with 100% certainty. Hopefully a forum mod can provide a more concrete answer.

  • Need advice about certification: do J2SE 1.4 or wait for 1.5 to go out?

I need advice here! I am studing for Java Programmer certification (310-035) and I know now that the certification does not have any expiration date, instead it's version based. So, if I get now a J2SE 1.4 certification, soon it will be outdated... I guess!
Does anyone know or have any ideia of WHEN java 1.5 sdk will be avaliable, and anyone can tell me how long it will take for a new 1.5 programmer certification be avaliable for general public?

Do both. 1.5 is far enough away that you do not want to wait for it.
And besides, 1.5 has enough new stuff in it that you'll want to recertify anyway.

  • Clarification Request on New Solaris Cert Exam Requirements.

    Regarding:
Important Changes to Java, and Oracle Solaris Certifications
Beginning August 1, 2011, Java Architect, Java Developer, Solaris System Administrator and Solaris Security Administrator certification path requirements will include a new mandatory course attendance requirement.
Candidates may earn their certifications using the current track requirements found on the Oracle Certification website through July 31, 2011 .....References:
    1) http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=449
    2) SCSA/OSSA 10 OCP Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Solaris 10 System Administrator : http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=328
    3) SCSEA/OSSESA 10 OCE Oracle Certified Expert, Oracle Solaris 10 Security Administrator : http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=330
Reference (1) seems to indicate candidates wishing to obtain both OSSA and OSSESA would need to attend two classes, one for each.
    - Or is it that a someone already SCSA/OSSA would not have to attend a further classs for OSSESA (As would be the case for DBA 10 OCP/RAC 10 OCE).
    - If two classes are required, and a candidate has attended System Administration for the Solaris 10 OS Part 2 which is a common pre-req for both exams, would that single class be sufficient for both exams.
From my point of view, and I suspect a lot of other are in my situation, having an existing SCSA 10.
.... Does this mean that post July 31 2001 if it was desired to gain the OSSESA 10 OCE would a course then be needed to be attended after that date?
.... Looking forward to Solaris 11; does this mean existing existing OSSA/SCSA 10 holder will need to attend a course for the upgrade for what I assume will be Solaris 11 certifications at some point.
    Thanx - bigdelboy

IMHO Certification Forum Moderator's response time is entirely reasonable and expected. She normally visits two or three times a week (has a day job as well!) and I posted this on Friday just after she had done a forum visit to clean up some inappropriated postings. IMHO She normally takes good time to check facts so she can answer with some authority (though a IMHO forum post can never really be totally authorative and contracturally bnding, it is best effort to be helpful). And I would not expect her to work the weekend .... it is important that people other than DBA's and Sysadmins have a life!
but it is true that you need to attend the required course separately for each certification, sometime this sounds crazy to me, where courses are very costly and it is mandatory to have them before you can write the exam.. Course are good specially for those who does not believe on self-study and specially who has got enough money to throw on.. sometime I do not find doing course was worth paying.. Course also depends on the Instructor, if he is good, you can benefit most but if he is not good then you feel lost money.I am assuming you response in this section is in terms of a question rather that an having an authorative source such as the link I gave earlier. While the webpage pubished earlier would seem authorative IMHO is is possilbe it is incomplete or contains an ambiguity or error (bigdelboy is suspicious and solaris can slow due to people who shout at their computers http://blogs.sun.com/brendan/entry/unusual_disk_latency perhaps causing the correct information some time to arrive).
Also it is worth remembering Oracle University have for a lot of courses a +satisifation guarentee' to retake the course if you were not satisfied (you still have to spend resource yourself reattending).  (NB: WDP doesn't have this).

  • Java certification question

I have learning material for two modules:
    (a) Sun Java 2 Developer SCJD CX-310-252A/CX-310-027, and
    (b) Java 2 5.0 Programmer Certification 310-055.
I know that these kind of exams were organized by the Sun Microsystems, Inc., which was bought by Oracle in 2010. So my questions are:
    1. What are the exact names and numbers for the two exams above, that Oracle gave them? On the Oracle website
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=42&p_org_id=28&lang=US
I was only able to find the available Java exams starting with "1Z0" or "1Z1".
    2. Are the old (Sun) and new (Oracle) exams exactly the same, i.e., is the material that I have is sufficient to pass the new exams?
    Thank you in advance.

    Thanks for a reply!
So, if I wanted to book exams, what are Oracle equivalents of those two modules? Searching in the list of available exams, it looks like
    (a) for Sun Java 2 Developer SCJD CX-310-252A/CX-310-027 -
Java Standard Edition 6 Developer Certified Master Assignment (Step 1 of 2) 1Z0-855
and Java Standard Edition 6 Developer Certified Master Essay Exam (Step 2 of 2) 1Z0-856
    (b) and for Java 2 5.0 Programmer Certification 310-055 -
Java Standard Edition 5 Programmer Certified Professional Exam 1Z0-853.
    Is that correct?
Also, can it be, that passing an exam is not enough to get a certification? From what I understand from searching, it is also necessary to attend an "instructor-led in-class" course, which cost around £1500 - is it true? Thanks.

  • Updating Oracle Certification, which exam I should pass?

Hello, everyone, please can anybody advice me, regarding question in topic. My Solaris Administrator Certificate will expire in June, and Solaris Network Specialist in July, earlier in Sun there was one exam, for updating current certification. But now we have Solaris 11, which exam I can pass for updating my Solaris certification. Can I pass Solaris 11 exam, for example "transition to Solaris 11" for updating my certification.
    Thank you in advance.

Certifications do not expire, but we do recommend that you keep your certifications up-to-date. Exam 1Z0-820 will upgrade your certification to Solaris 11 (training not required, but recommended). There is not an 11 version of the Network Admin at this time, but your current certification will not expire.

You look at the tab Upgrades:
    There are 2 steps:
Step 1 - Prior Certification Requirements
    Step 2 - Pass Exam
My question 2, is about the Step 1
This relates to to the upgrade path route to Oracle Solaris 11 System Administrator certification.
The key point in your question is how the prior certification requirements "Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Solaris Administrator or Sun Certified Solaris Administrator - any version" should be interpreted
And in particular is the "Oracle Certified Associate, Oracle Solaris 10 Operating System Certification" (Attained via 1z0-876) included within that.
    ==== Answer ====
Unfortunately for you the answer is no.  However while my providence in this area is excellent I am not authorative and I would recommend it you have any doubt to raise a support call at Oracle University - Support Form subject "Certification Upgrade Path" for a definitive answer.
    ==== Comments ====
    1. I am not entirely happy with the wording: "Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Solaris Administrator or Sun Certified Solaris Administrator - any version"
It is OK when interpreted as
"Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Solaris Administrator"    ( This clearly does not encompass the Oracle Solaris 10 OCA)
    OR
"Sun Certified Solaris Administrator - any version" ( Which essentially Encompasses SCSA 10,9,8,... when the certifications were under sun (and regarded as OCP level by Oracle) ... but not the Sun Certified Solaris Associate SCSAS )
    2. OCP Upgrade exams  are only from a version at a prior OCP level.  This means the training requirement was met at a prior OCP level version or the OCP level was achieved at a previous version before a training requirement was introduced.
(The special exceptions of 1z0-067/1z0-034 have just been introduced for Oracle DBA but these retain a training requirement at the higher version ... nobody would touch attempting these until oracle certification offered free beta vouchers and had the Oracle Certification Help Center besieged by those who missed out!)
3: My understanding is the sun Certified Solaris Associate SCSAS was designed a single exams certification for people wishing a solaris certification not wishing to take on an SCSA and knowing the in's and out of system administrator things like OPENBOOT firmware and backups etc.  Things that perhaps say a developer would not need to know.  When taking over from Sun as the Certification had Associate in it they felt appropriate to may it to the name "Oracle Certified Associate, Oracle Solaris 10 Operating System Certification".  Nowadays it starting from scratch undoubtably that exam would be an OCS certification.  For Oracle Solaris 11 System administrator they were able to map the 1z0-821 exam to an OCA and 1z0-822 to an OCP in line with they more typical model.
