Solaris 10 issue with CD 2

I am installing solaris 10 on some old SunBlade 100
All is working fine with the first CD then I reach a point where I am asked to insert a the second CD. I put it in and is not recognized but I can mount it in my linux box.
Same for all the other CD.
The only way I can proceed with the installation is.
reboot with the next cd inserted than it works...
I am not to expert with solaris maybe I am missing something stupid...
Thank you!

Here is updated information on this 2GB/855GME issue. Any assistance, solution, or insight is very much appreciated.
We are seeing orders of magnitude (30x) increase in access time in a segment at the top of memory when the memory installed is 2 Gigabytes and booting the Solaris operating system. This segment starts at 0x3E000000 (physical - 32 megabytes from the top) up to the 8 Megabytes 'stolen' by the video (or 24 megabytes). The huge increase in Solaris boot time is because (according to our Sun technical contact) Solaris allocates memory from the top down which means its using the slow memory to boot. The symptoms change if the Internal Graphics Device (IGD) is disabled and a PCI video card is used, OR, if the IGD is set to 'steal' all 32 Megabytes available thus consuming the 'slow memory' area.
We have opened an Intel Quad issue outlining the symptoms above (see Quad text below). They suspect MTRR setup in 'anticipation' of IGD use of the memory. However, dumps of the MTRR's via emulator both with and without the IGD are the same.
Note: other model specific registers, such as the BBL_CR_Dx registers are different with/without IGD, but as they are for accessing L2 cache, don't appear to be pertinent to this problem. This opinion could change with more study.

One thought...: Possibly a old Novell client installed on those models... I remember having an issue with users having to open the advanced login options, goto the windows login box. There the previous logged in user name needed to be cleared and login would be transparent again.

  • Sun Solaris 10,Upgrade 8 or higher,having issues with VxFS,for Oracle 11gr2

A while ago, we tried doing a prototype upgrade of our main Oracle 10g db to Oracle 11gr2.
The OS on which our Oracle 10g is running is Sun Solaris 10, upgrade 4.
According to Oracle 11gr2 documentation, we need Sun Solaris 10, upgrade 6 or higher for Oracle 11g2.
The filesystem we are using is VxFS, Veritas File System.
According to our system administrator, we had issues , making Sun Solar 10, upgrade 8 , work with the VxFS filesystem.
I was wondering if anybody is running Oracle 11g2 on Sun Solaris 10 upgrade 6 or higher with VxFS file system.
At present, our Oracle db upgrade project is on a hold, because of the above issue. So your help on this , can really help us in figuring out if there is an issue between VxFS filesystem and Sun Solaris 10 OS.
    Thanks
    Ashish

    Hi Ashish,
We are not running Veritas Cluster file system.
We tried moving our Oracle 10g r2 db on ZFS ,before doing the upgrade and performance on ZFS was worst.
ZFS has certain memory parameter setting. If you did not configure that then ZFS will eat your complete system memory.
My system administrator, has gotten a copy of Solaris 10 upgrade 9 and will try that with VxFS.
I was curious to find out if folks are running Oracle 11g on Sun Solaris 10 with VxFS file system and if they had experienced any issue. If you can Install Vxfs on Oracle Soalris 10 U9, then according to me there sholudn't be any limitations for an oracle database.
Recently i installed Oracle database 11.2.0.2 on one of my test server. I have created two databases - one on ZFS and another on ASM.
    Refer:
    http://appsdbaworkshop.blogspot.com/2010/10/installation-of-11202-on-oracle-solaris.html
We dont have any performance issues. We are testing it for the performance benchmarks on both of the filesystem.
If you can Install Vxfs on Oracle Soalris 10 U9, then according to me there sholudn't be any limitations for an oracle database.

  • Issues with logging in to CC and missing features

My team is using CC on corporate environment PCs, Win 7 64bit. Some of the problems we have seen are:
When we buy a new adobe license for a new user our IT department has to install the Creative Cloud desktop manager and software on their PC. They do this by using an admin windows account and the new adobe login. Everything works fine for them, they are able to log in to CC and install the software, When the user logs in with their windows account and try to log in to CC with the same adobe id then they get the common issue with the sync button just turning and never logs them in. In some cases this is fixed by deleting the OOBE folder from the admin local profile allowing the other user to log in to CC but most times the IT has to resolve to rebuilding the PC and starting again.
We also hotdesk in my team.I found that when i work on my laptop or another desktop pc in the team everything is fine but if i have to use a different PC for the day i log in but don't have all the features (I can get the home feed, fonts, etc, but not the app installers)
Another member of my team works fine on that same PC but on a different PC she doesn't have all features. She gets the app installers, but not some of the other features.
It all seems to be a bit random as to who can access what.
Our corporate firewall is open to most Adobe servers, unless there is something we have missed. PCs have Adobe Air 3.1.0.4880.
These issues have been happening for months now and IT have spend hours to resolve.
Anyone else has issues using Creative Cloud in a corporate environment and are there any suggestions we can use please?

There isn't any capability for the OpenBootProm prompt
(the OK prompt you might see on your screen)
to ask you for a username or a password.
The OBP is a firmware level of the SPARC platform, not an OS nor a mini-OS.
If you have consoled in through the SF280R's RSC card, it might have its own password prompt, but the OBP itself can't do that. Additionally, the RSC doesn't show you the OK prompt either (certainly not to the extent that the more sophisticated LOM, ALOM, ILOM or System Controllers of other system designs might have.).
You made mention that you eventually see a cursor that is sitting at a prompt that shows:
Happy@solaris11 $If that is what you see, then I think you're already logged into the OS. That would seem to be a C-shell prompt, with you logged into a fully booted system named "solaris11" as username "Happy".
Consequently, I'll be asking that your post be moved out of the Servers'General hardware forum, and into the General Solaris 11 forum. You don't seem to have a hardware issue, but perhaps just an issue with being unfamiliar with Solaris. (You didn't describe your experience level in the initial post.)

  • Issue with LDAP login authentication in CMC console

We have a existing issues with Business Objects BOE XIR2 SP2 and LDAP authentication with the BOE CMC Console.
We use websphere as the application server and it is installed on the same machine (Solaris) as BOE.
We have this issue on both our production and our recently rebuilt development environment to duplicate the issue.
Both environment have configured LDAP over SSL and we can login to BOE Infoview Reports with LDAP and we can map groups and users if we login to CMC but we can not login to CMC with secLDAP.
The specific error still being shown is "Security plugin error: Failed to set parameters on plugin".
Both environments (DEV and PROD) are fresh installs of BOE XIR2 SP2.
    Any ideas are much appreciated
    Thankyou

The CMC in XIR2 used com components for the SSL (rather than java like infoview) and I'm betting the WAS deployment is not finding them. Is WAS on a seperate server or is BOE installed there as well?
I'm not familiar with any regular fixes for an issue like this. If no other replies I'd recommend opening a case with either deployment(WAS on "nix") or authentication(WAS on windows) to see if they can trace down the problem.

  • Issue with bootadm after mobo upgrade

    Hi,
the motherboard of one of our servers died and I decided to take this opportunity to upgrade the server. With the new mobo though, the order of the disks is different. I managed to get the system to boot by recreating the device tree, but I am still having some issues with bootadm.

The weird thing though is that if I run bootadm list-archive, I get no error messages. Any idea what I can do to fix this? I have tried to run bootadm update-archive -f -R, as well as installgrub -m /boot/grub/stage1 /boot/grub/stage2 /dev/rdsk/c2d0s0, but nothing seems to fix it.
    I am running Solaris 5.11 snv_60.

  • Issue with java_g and -debug

Is there an issue with the -debug option when running Weblogic 4.51 with
    the java_g command.
Each time we include the -debug option we experience
    weblogic.common.LicenseCorruptException (s)
The same error is experienced using java 1.1.7 on NT, Solaris(x86)2.7
    and Solaris (Sparc)2.7
We are very keen to find out if there is a way of resolving this to
allow us to do remote debugging.
    regards
    Duncan Alexander

For some reason, using the custom classloaders in WLS causes unpredictable VM
behavior in those VMs. For instance, you point out the LicenseCorruptError which
occurs due to a io read error which doesn't occur when the same environment is
    run in non remote mode.
There are some things you can do.
First of all, use 1.2.2 instead of 1.1.7. That VM appears more stable.
If you have to use 1.1.7 then:
On NT, make sure you've updated to the 1.1.7_005.
On Solaris 2.7, run the server in static mode. (You may also try 1.1.7_008, I
haven't had a chance to check that version yet.)
    I don't know about Solaris x86.
The VM problem occurs when using custom classloaders so run the server in static
mode. You won't be able to hot deploy ejbs, but you will be able to remotely
    debug.
Debuggers don't work well with custom classloaders anyway, especially on 1.1.7.
Gets a little better on 1.2.2 but there's still holes in the JDI in this area.
To run in static mode don't use weblogic.class.path, everything goes on the
classpath. Make sure that /weblogic/classes/boot appears before
    /weblogic/classes.
Also add -Dweblogic.system.disableWeblogicClassPath=true=true if you're using
    5.1.0.

Also add -Dweblogic.system.disableWeblogicClassPath=true=true if you're using
    5.1.0.

Each time we include the -debug option we experience
    weblogic.common.LicenseCorruptException (s)

  • Netra T1 105, issue with LOM prompt

    Hello all,
I am having issue in accessing OK prompt from LOM menu. When I do the poweron, it sits on LOM event: power on. When I do, console it shows stand by. Please help me out here as I am working on making this server to respond. Thanks.

Hi. Could you tell me if patches 108620-04 or higher & 108673-02 or higher are already installed on the Netra t1 105?
*How to determine if the Netra[TM]T1 model 105 server PROM patches are current [ID 1010561.1]*
    Description
How to determine if patches 108620-04 or higher & 108673-02 or higher are already installed on the Netra t1 105.
    Steps to Follow
These two patches have to do with OBP(OpenBoot PROM) and the user prom.
108620-04 Hardware/PROM: Netra t1 Standalone User PROM Update
    108673-02 Hardware/PROM: Netra t1 System PROM Update
    108673-02 delivers OBP 3.10.27.
This can be checked via the OBP with the .version command.
    OBP Example:
    ok .version
    Release 3.10.27 ME created 2000/06/22 16:45
    OBP 3.10.27 2000/06/22 16:45
    POST 1.17.0 2000/03/06 12:18
This can be checked via Solaris[TM] with: prtconf -V
    Solaris[TM] Example:
    # prtconf -V
    OBP 3.10.27 2000/06/22 16:45
If you see Release 3.10.27 you do not need to install this patch.
    108620-04 delivers the dropins
These can be checked at the ok prompt with the show-dropins command.
    Example:
    ok show-dropins
    Dropins for Flash device: /pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/ebus@1/flashprom@10,0
Dropin name Size Checksum Date Date Version Vendor

PROM size = 200000 bytes Available for Use = 200000 bytes
    ok
The part that is of interest is about two thirds of the way down to do
    with ebus-14.400000, probe+, banner- and tty-control.
If the Checksum matches you you don't need to install this patch.
On the other hand it won't cause any problems to reinstall both patches.

  • Accesing protectred URIs on Solaris (sparcv9) with WLS 10.3.5 and Apache2

I had started to ask questions about this on another thread of mine, but since I had listed that one as answered and this being different from the original question on that thread...I felt it better to create its own thread.
    Problem Description: Environment Details:
    - Server1 -- 64 bit Intel RHEL5
Fusion Middleware Identity Management - 11.1.1.2
    WLS 10.3.2
    ODSM,OID,OVD
    DB 10.2.0.4
    - Server 2 32-bit Intel RHEL5
    OAM 10.1.4.3
    OHS 11.1.1.2
    - Server 3 64-bit SparcV9 Webhost -- deployed app as protected uri
    WLS 10.3.5
    Apache2
    Webgate 10.1.4.3
We believe we have completed everything in regard to being able to include a solaris host in our list of hosts that are tied to OAM. We have installed webhost with XP and RHEL5.6 successfully using OHS 11.1.1.2. This is the first time creating a webhost on Sparc. The webgate was created and software installed, the deployed app protected, etc... Everything that we have done for Linux and XP in the past we have done for this Sparc host. The only differences are the SUN OS, Apache2, and WLS 10.3.5. I believe those are all acceptable for these Oracle products and versions.
When we try to access the Sparc's protected uri... nothing happens. The browser stays blank... the url does not change to display the oamsso login.html (as the other installs do)... nothing is returned... no error, no remarks, ... just a blank browser.
Doing an apachectl -l I receive the following:
    Compiled in modules:
    core.c
    prefork.c
    http_core.c
    mod_so.c
    So mod_so.c is included.
If I go directly to the protected uri through 7001 instead of the 8890 -- the port httpd.conf has configured to listen on -- the page displays. If I open the oamsso/login.html using 8890... it displays. But if I use 8890 to bring up the protected uri... as described above nothing displays.
One other thing, since the Sparc host is "headless" -- as described by our SysAdmin... no access directly through the sun console and no gui access via the sun host since there is no sun console just the server -- we have to access the gui via a browser on the same network. The browser is actually on the OAM host.

I believe that apache is currently setup correctly at this point, but cannot understand what we are missing.

I would say that OAM does support Apache (according to the certified Apache versions and OS's). However, there are so many distributions out there and it can be configured with countless options, be compiled with a number of different compilers, and include any number of modules that some compatibility issues are bound to arise. The Solaris distribution - also Oracle - is a case in point. I have also encountered issues with the Apache version bundled with some Linux versions (for different reasons than the Solaris bundle) for which the easiest solution has also been to download and build from source. I would imagine that is the reason for what you were told about support for generic Apache, though of course I do not know the context.

  • Oracle singleton instance issue with OCIStmtFetch()

    Hi,
i am folowing a singletom pattern in my VC++ application were only one Oracle instance is created and it is being used through out the application. The OCIStmtFetch() is used twice in the application and when the OCIStmtFetch() is invoked for the second time it returns a OCI_NO_DATA condition. But when i created a new instance of Database use it to  invoked the OCIStmtFetch() for the second time it gives a proper result. please can some one help me on why the singleton DBinstance is causing issue with the OCIStmtFetch() for the second time.

This forum is about general programming in C, C++, and Fortran, and specifically about using the Oracle Solaris Studio suite of programming tools. Since your question is about using VC++ with Oracle database, you are not likely to get a helpful answer here. (Oracle Solaris Studio is not available on Windows.)
