Solaris 10/services network
I set up a network using Solaris 10...but was unable to set up the network....so I did sys-unconfig and the network. come up.
I am able to assign IP addresses and get them with ifconfig -a. But I am unable to access the internet with the browser..
Also I am unable to ssh, telnet, ftp from another machine in te network...even though ssh, ftp, telnet r online when I checked up svcs -a|grep ssh...
Can anyone guide me with this one please?
Thanks!
Anand
Hi
If you are sure that the ip address and the subnet mask is correct then you should able to ping the ipaddress atleast from a machine in the same network.Try using Ip address instead of using hostname.
Adding the default route will help you to connect to a different network.

I'm staying at my house in Peru, South America. From my PC laptop I can see my neighbor's wifi service network, but I also have my mini iPad and I can not figure out why I can't get any wifi connection from my area. Is there a setting I need to do?
Yes, I did try to go on my settings>wifi and was waiting for any wifi signals to pick up, but nothing shows up. But on my PC I get a whole list of networks to choose from. Regarding my neighbor, I already have her password that is why I was able to get it on my PC, the problem is that the mini Ipad is not picking any signal neither can it locate me when I go to maps.

Solaris Name Service Cache and Directory Proxy Problem
We have some Solaris 10 clients ldapcliented to a Directory Proxy Server. After 15 minutes, the Solaris name service cache will fail to communicate to the proxy instance and the proxy instance's readconnectionsrefused attribute will start incrementing.
At first it seemed we would need to increase the worker-threads and num-bind-limit, but those do not fix the problem.
At the same time the name-service-cache starts failing, I am still able to query and search the proxy. I have set up a Jmeter test which continues to run and they never fail.
It seems very consistent that the problem with the name-service-cache occurs every 15 minutes and I am able to reproduce this at the client's site and in my lab. Restarting either the proxy or the name-service-cache clears the problem.
Has anyone else seen this problem?

Oracle 9i Integration to Ariba Services Network
Does Oracle 9i Application server come with integration software that can be used to connect a B2b e-Commerce website to the Ariba Services Network for receiving order transactions?
check user permissions on the oracle executables. To start, you could try and run SQL*Plus as the user who installed the client executables.

List of all Solaris 10 services?
I want to strip down the number of running services. I'm trying to find a list of all Solaris 10 services and their interdependencies. Some are obvious, some I could take a pretty good guess at, but some are complete mysteries. And i don't want to willy-nilly disable everything that I don't understand, only to discover that some other necessary process depends upon some bizarre service that I disabled.
Try running:
svcs -a -o FMRI,DESCI think that's as close as you're going to get to what you're after. :)
You can go onward to any manpages from there, and/or check dependencies individually as needed.

Repository Manager & Global Services - Network Path
Hello All,
I am having some troubles Configuring any of the Repositorys (CM or FS) it seems that does not take the network path created inside Global Services -> Network Path.
In the other hand if I put the direction
server ip\Folder directly. I got a different error that tells me that the user & Password is wrong. But the user & password is specified in the network path.
Any Idea would be appreciated.
Regards,
Orlando CovaultHello Sascha,
I think that you didn´t understanme I Tried it in the following two ways and got the following erros:
1.- I create a Network path inside Global Services -> Network Path
Name: Windows_FileSystem
jCIFS Protocol: checked
Network Path:
server olfer
Password: xxxx
User: xxx
Then in the repository manager (CM & FS) in the parameter Root Directory I put Windows_FileSystem.
The error that I got was:
Startup Error: The localroot does not exist: /usr/sap/PS2/JC60/j2ee/cluster/server0/Windows_FileSystem
It seems that the portal is looking inside itself instead of using the network Path
2.- in the repository manager (CM & FS) in the parameter Root Directory I put
server olfer
The error that I got was:
Startup Error: Wrong user/password
But here I didn´t specified any user or password... because the user and password are in the network path.
I am trying to conect a Repository Manager (CM or FS) using the portals on UNIX and the FS on Windows.
Any help would be appreciated.

I''m reading lots of docs on Oracle web site about the Solaris CIFS service. But almost unbellievably, the piece of information which seems to be hidden is which version of Solaris this applies to. Certainly this seems to be missing from the most recent version of 10.
GeorgeThe Solaris CIFS server is a part of Solaris 11, so you will have to install Solaris 11 to use this feature. In Solaris 10 your only option is the bundled samba server.

My iphone3g display no service network aftar update.sometime get then not
Hello oeaton,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To troubleshoot this "No Service" issue on your iPhone, please follow the troubleshooting steps in the article below.
iPhone: Troubleshooting No Service
Take care,
Alex H. -
Hi,I ran a Software Update on my iPhone 5,but now if I "Enable LTE" it will display No Service and no network at all. What might be wrong here?
It's completely situational. Without being able to directly compare the "scratch" on the original poster's iPhone with your iPhone, what gaamcc had happen could not be extrapolated to guess what Apple may do in your situation. It will depend entirely on what the Apple technician diagnoses after examining your iPhone. He/she may decide that any damage is strictly cosmetic and didn't have any connection with the problem you're taking your iPhone in for, or he/she may diagnose the problem as stemming from user damage. You'll just have to see when you go to the Apple Store.

Solaris 2.6 // Network - Problem
Situation: Sun Workstation running Solaris 2.6
System runs fine, but it won't connect to our network.
IP adress should be 134.99.12.238 with the standard gateway: 134.99.12.1.
There are 2 network devices, lo0 (loopback device) and hme0.
ping 127.0.0.1 works fine (127.0.0.1 is alive). Other things won't work.
Output from "netstat -nr":
Destination/Gateway/Flags/Ref/Use/Interface
134.99.12.0 / 134.99.12.238 / U / 3 / 6 / hme0
224.0.0.0 / 134.99.12.238 / U / 3 / 0 / hme0
default / 134.99.12.1 / UG / 0 / 1 /
127.0.0.1 / 127.0.0.1 / UH / 0 / 284 / lo0
Output from "ifconfig -a":
lo0
flags=849<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 8232 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask ff000000
hme0
flags=863<UP,BROADCAST,NOTRAILERS,RUNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 134.99.12.238 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 134.99.12.255 ether 8:0:20:89:87:f1
There is no response (not even an error) when I'll ping the gateway (ping 134.99.12.1).
And I'm also wondering, that there is no interface for the default gateway route.
I'm new to UNIX, and I'll be thankfull for every hint to solve this problem.Hi
The setup looks OK and you've tried to ping the default gateway of 134.99.12.1 and it just hangs?
Has this problem just occurred and there have been no material changes to the workstation ( ie it hasn't been moved, repatched, or had a change of IP etc )?
This looks as though there might be a hardware problem with your network card or it could be a problem with the switch/hub your host is plugged into.
If possible boot to the OK> prompt on your workstation and at the boot prompt type:
watch-net-all
This should check your interfaces and show them sniffing packets.
If this appears to be functioning correctly, I'd start looking at the hub/switch your plugged into. One scenario that comes to mind was that I had a similar problem to yours and spent the best part of 2 days fiddling with the server. It turned out that the switch we were connected to had been changed to implement a security feature whereby the switch will only accept packets on a particular port from a specific MAC address ( presumably this stops people plugging in there laptops or other machines into switches ). -
Solaris 10 zones network config using different IP address
I have a Solaris 10 global zone with two networks 172.x.x.x and 192.x.x.x
The zone loaded on this global zone has two networks 192.x.x.x and 144.x.x.x
I have the 192 network working fine on both the global and non-global zones.
I have aggr2 on the global zone assigned the 172 IP.
I have aggr2:1 on the non-global zone assigned the 144.
On the global zone all networking functions correctly.
On the non-global zone I can't get the 144 interface to work.
I've checked my defaultroutes, they are correct, I've tracerouted from the global zone using a 144 address and it goes out the 172 interface correctly.
When I traceroute from the non-global zone it can't even leave the zone.
My question is, can I have an IP on the non-global zone that does not reside on the global zone?Hi Jim,
We have check the following path on our Exchange Server :
C:\Program
Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Logging\TraceLogs
And
we not found any log files here.
Thanks.

Solaris 10 - Installation - Networked Option not display- RTL 8139 NIC Card
Hi,
when i installing Solaris, the Networkd (Yes/No) option not display. In my PC (x86) RTL 8139 Networkd Card is installed. Please advice, how can i enable Networked option and docs says that Solaris-10 Supports RTL 8139 Network card. (Ref: http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/self_help.jsp#installing )
Here pls refer "Network Devices (x86)" Section ).
ThanksI'm not quite sureee, but you might want to run the SDDT test scripts...
http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/hcl/hcts/device_detect.jsp
This you can run from Windows, Linux on the same box, and it will list all the drivers for the hardware that solaris knows about. Inside the tool you can select, whether you want that list for Solaris 10 or SXDE...
Matthias
P.S.: I assume, the driver should be e1000g, but am not quite sure... -
Solaris 10 basic network tutorial
Hi there,
I have a solaris 10 machine and a windows xp machine.
I have them linked up with a cross over cable.
I have set the IP on the windows machine to 192.168.0.100 on a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0
What i cannot seem to fathom (although i did manage it on linux, somehow) is how to configure the solaris machine.
Does anyone know of a good BASIC tutorial on how i can get the two machine networked. Basically, i would like to get ftp and telnet working between the machines.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
AndrewHi,
dmesg a system message log viewer.
It will tell you the 'instance name' of your network
card, but a whole lot else about devices and
boot histories.
So you need to run it, pipe the output into
a grep (search) for network, and pipe the
result of that into a grep for pci. I'm using your
network card will be some kind of PCI card
Here's what I get:
# dmesg | grep -i network | grep pci
Feb 7 19:13:59 ten genunix: [ID 408114 kern.info] /pci@1f,0/pci@1,1/network@1,1 (hme0) online
hme0 is therefore my interface name.
'hme' is the driver name, '0' is the first one.
# man hme
gives you the scarey driver details.
So I need to have /etc/hostname.hme0 in order
to have a hostname. Only one line in the file,
only one word in it -- the same as the hostname
you supplied in /etc/hosts.
On sparc, the drivers include hme, qfe, eri and le.
On x86, they include bcme and ibprb.
An x86 box with a one broadcom network card
will have bcme0. -
Solaris 7 x86 Network Configuration
I'm trying to connect two Solaris boxes this way: "solaris2" will access "solaris1".
"solaris1" is 192.168.10.11
"solaris2" is 192.168.10.12
I have the following configuration on solaris1 (the box that will be accessed by solaris2):
FILE: /etc/hosts
127.0.0.1 localhost loghost
192.168.10.11 solaris1
192.168.10.12 solaris2
FILE: /etc/hosts.equiv
solaris2
FILE: /etc/hostname.dnet0
solaris1
FILE: /etc/netmasks
192.168.10.0
FILE: ./rhosts
solaris2
I can't get them connected. When I ping each other I don't have any response. When I do arp -a on "solaris1" I see "solaris2" with the flag "U" but only right after I ping "solaris2" from "solaris1". Few seconds later, "solaris2" does not show on the arp cache.
Any suggestions? It looks like the /etc/netmasks is missing an entry it should be more like
FILE: /etc/netmasks
192.168.10.0 255.255.255.0
But this should default to a netmask of 255.255.0.0 so they should still be able to see each other.
The -U with arp is for unresolved, it's looking for a MAC address.
Some things to try :
ifconfig -a Check each card has the correct IP and netmask, also make sure there is an UP on the same line as the card name.
Try and ping there own IP's
Try and run snoop on each machine, this relys on there being network traffic that they can see.
Are there any "No response from ethernet network" errors in the /var/adm/messages
If all else looks OK are you sure your cabling is OK ?
