Solaris 10 Sparc and Oracle 11g DB with GG

Hi,
I have Solaris system with Solaris 10 Sparc and Oracle 11g DB.
From the Golden gate download list I downloaded the Golden Gate for Oracle 11g and Solaris 10.
I tried to Install but I am getting the following error..
$ ldd ggsci
ldd: ggsci: ELF machine type: EM_AMD64: is incompatible with system
Can you please let us know which might be the best golden gate software for us.

What exact file did you download (what's the file name, before unzipping it), and on your solaris box, what's the result of => "uname -a" and/or "isainfo -v" ...? Just make sure the downloaded file matches what the box is running...
Btw, not that it matters in this case, but if you were hypothetically running a 32-bit database on a 64-bit OS, you'd need a 32-bit build of GoldenGate. But I don't know why you'd do that. (And that's not the problem here.)

  • Parameters of NFS in Solaris 10 and Oracle Linux 6 with ZFS Storage 7420 in cluster without database

    Hello,
I have ZFS 7420 in cluster and OS Solaris 10 and Oracle Linux 6 without DB and I need mount share NFS in this OS and I do not know which parameters are the best for this.
Wich are the best parameters to mount share NFS in Solaris 10 or Oracle Linux 6?
    Thanks
    Best regards.

    Hi Pascal,
My question is because when We mount share NFS in some servers for example Exadata Database Machine or Super Cluster  for best performance we need mount this shares with specific parameters, for example.
    Exadata
    192.168.36.200:/export/dbname/backup1 /zfssa/dbname/backup1 nfs rw,bg,hard,nointr,rsize=131072,wsize=1048576,tcp,nfsvers=3,timeo=600 0 0
    Super Cluster
    sscsn1-stor:/export/ssc-shares/share1      -       /export/share1     nfs     -       yes     rw,bg,hard,nointr,rsize=131072,wsize=131072,proto=tcp,vers=3
    Now,
    My network is 10GBE
What happen with normal servers only with OS (Solaris and Linux)?
Which parameters I need use for best performance?
or are not necessary specific parameters.
    Thanks.
    Best regards.

  • Oracle 11g compatibility with oracle 10g and 9i?

    Hi All
I have some queries on 11g compatibility.
Is oracle 11g client compatible with oracle 10g client which is already installed on desktop?
If yes any changes to be done and where?
Is oracle 11g compatible with oracle 10g/9i on the same server where 10g/9i are installed?
    Regards

    Thanks Justin Thats right ...
    Problem elaboration is as follows
We currently have an application which requires oracle 10g(10.2.0.3) client to connect to database from user desktops. As
part of new application development the oracle 11g clients need to be installed on all the user deskotps.
The complete application software along with oracle client 11g has to be roled out on these desktop as part of
implementaion of new application besides the existing application(The application software is packaged along with oracle
    10g client).
We would like to understand if there is any software provided by oracle using which we can switch between different oracle
versions while accessing the respective applications simultaneously. Also are there any known bugs/issues in running
oracle 10g client and oracle 11g client together on the same user desktops with different oracle homes?

  • Terminology differences between MSSQL 2005/2008 and Oracle 11g

I'm looking for some articles/books/webinars/blogs which discuss the terminology differences between MSSQL 2005/2008 and Oracle 11g in terms of database concepts. I have found this article http://www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/SQL+Server/67007 so far.
    Thanks.

Thanks sb92075. Those returned results are almost all related to compare the features/functionalities between MSSQL and Oracle not to distinguish the terminology differences between them.

    Hi everyone,
I have a problem with the downloading of PDF reports from APEX with Oracle 11g.
When I try to download a PDF, Acrobat Reader says it can not open the file.
I have done the same test in an environment with APEX and Oracle 10g and it works perfectly.
Does anyone know if there is a known bug for version 11g.
    Thank you very much.

  • Solaris 10 and Hitachi LUN mapping with Oracle 10g RAC and ASM?

    Hi all,
I am working on an Oracle 10g RAC and ASM installation with Sun E6900 servers attached to a Hitachi SAN for shared storage with Sun Solaris 10 as the server OS. We are using Oracle 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3) RAC clusterware
for the clustering software and raw devices for shared storage and Veritas VxFs 4.1 filesystem.
    My question is this:
How do I map the raw devices and LUNs on the Hitachi SAN to Solaris 10 OS and Oracle 10g RAC ASM?
I am aware that with an Oracle 10g RAC and ASM instance, one needs to configure the ASM instance initialization parameter file to set the asm_diskstring setting to recognize the LUNs that are presented to the host.
I know that Sun Solaris 10 uses /dev/rdsk/CwTxDySz naming convention at the OS level for disks. However, how would I map this to Oracle 10g ASM settings?
I cannot find this critical piece of information ANYWHERE!!!!
    Thanks for your help!

You don't seem to state categorically that you are using Solaris Cluster, so I'll assume it since this is mainly a forum about Solaris Cluster (and IMHO, Solaris Cluster with Clusterware is better than Clusterware on its own).
Clusterware has to see the same device names from all cluster nodes. This is why Solaris Cluster (SC) is a positive benefit over Clusterware because SC provides an automatically managed, consistent name space. Clusterware on its own forces you to manage either the symbolic links (or worse mknods) to create a consistent namespace!
So, given the SC consistent namespace you simple add the raw devices into the ASM configuration, i.e. /dev/did/rdsk/dXsY. If you are using Solaris Volume Manager, you would use /dev/md/<setname>/rdsk/dXXX and if you were using CVM/VxVM you would use /dev/vx/rdsk/<dg_name>/<dev_name>.
Of course, if you genuinely are using Clusterware on its own, then you have somewhat of a management issue! ... time to think about installing SC?

  • WLS 10.3.0.0 Solaris SPARC and DBMS Oracle 10gR2 connection pooling issue

    Hi all,
we are currently testing Weblogic Server 10.3.0.0 in order to migrate our production system from WLS 8.1 to it.
While testing the new setup, we encountered some strange behaviour of the connection pooling within WLS.
We configured a XA-Connection pool to our DB (Oracle 10gR2) by using
    a) the Oracle XA-thin-driver delivered within WLS 10.3.0.0
    and alternatively
    b) the Oracle 11.2.0.2 OCI-driver of the Oracle 11g database client.
We´ve got the same issue with both variants. We defined an initial capacity of 5 connections and a maximum capacity of 30 connections.
Our application is running flawlessly using the connection pool, but the amount of active sessions between the application server and the database server is increasing rapidly and the maximum capacity is exceeded. We are seeing up to multiple hundreds of sessions from the application server to our database server. Obviously the connections aren´t cleaned up.
We are using the following settings for the JDBC-Connection:
    initial capacity = 5
    max. capacity = 30
    Capacity increment = 1
    Statement cache type = LRU
    Statement cache size = 10
Test connections on reserve = true
    Test frequency = 120
Test table name = "sql select 1 from dual"
seconds to trust an idle pool connection = 10
    shrink frequency = 0
connecttion creation retry frequency = 120
    login delay = 0
    incative connection timeout = 10
max. waiting for connection = 2147483647
    connection reserve timeout= = -1
    Ignare in-use connections = true
    pinned-to-thread = false
remoce infected connections enabled = true
Does anyone have an idea how to track/solve this issue?
    Kind regards
    Marc

    Hi Joe,
we´ve tested with the thin driver using an initial capacity of 5 and a maximum capacity of 15. During our tests (in a very short time period) the maximum capacity has not been exceeded. But we saw some exceptions in the managed server logfile which made us curious.
When these exceptions are occuring, a new connection to the database server is established. We are seeing for a short time a total count of 6 connections which is immediately decreasing to the initial capacity of 5. We will do some further testing over the next hours and monitor the connection usage.
The connection we are dealing with is the one called "ZDB2".
This is an excerpt of the logfile:

  • Install Oracle 11G, RAC with VMWare, APPS R12, and OBIEE on one server?

    Dear Experts,
I'm looking to upgrade my skills, and want to learn more of:
Oracle 11G, RAC, VMWare, APPS R12, and OBIEE
My server has two quad cores (8 CPU altogether) and 16 gigs of RAM.
Years ago, I took a shots at installing RAC on multiple servers and firewire.
One thing I remember was that after I installed RAC, I was not able to use the database unless I enabled all the RAC processes on the server. So, I was not able to just boot the database and use it in the traditional single server manner.
Which I will also want to do.
    1) Does this symptom/aspect/characteristic of RAC install still exist?
    2) Is it realistic to install all this software on one server?
If so, what is the order of operations for the install?
    3) If I have to prioritize, I'd like to install

Would installing R12 and OBIEE on the same server present any conflicts or issues?
If not, what is the order of operations for the install?
    11G, R12, then OBIEE?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,
    1) Does this symptom/aspect/characteristic of RAC install still exist? No.
    2) Is it realistic to install all this software on one server?
If so, what is the order of operations for the install? For learning/traning/demonstration purpose you can Install all these software on same machine.
    3) If I have to prioritize, I'd like to install
Oracle 11G, OBIEE, and APPS R12,
Would installing R12 and OBIEE on the same server present any conflicts or issues?
If not, what is the order of operations for the install?
11G, R12, then OBIEE?There will not be any conflicts. I would suggest you to select vmware or virtual box in order to configure all these sw's.
I have done such a configuration on my laptop with i7 Quad processor, 16GB RAM and 640 GB HDD.
I have Installed 2 node RAC, 2 Node ERP and all are running smoothly without any issues.

  • Need to Clone A Database From Solaris to Linux Oracle 11g

    Hi Team,
I am using Oracle Database Version 11.2.0.1.
We have 6 production servers and all of them are in solaris box. We have a new requirement from application to use Linux boxes and for that we need to perform a database refresh from Solaris to Linux box.
I can do it by Export and Import technique. But I want some other way to perform this database refresh activity.
1] Can I do it while taking a rman backup from solaris box( Source) and restore it back to Linux( Target)?
2] Can I do it using transportable tablespace method?
I am aware of performing this using export-import but as our database size is near of 1TB I can't apply this technique.
I need your suggestions in this activity, please put your opinion on the correct method I should opt for and along with that share me the supporting document where things are mentioned in step by step way.
Please let me know if this can achieved by RMAN...
    Source Machine Make:-
    bash-3.00$ uname -a
    SunOS blrdlvdwhdb01 5.10 Generic_142909-17 sun4v sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-T6320

  • Kerberos Authentication between Sharepoint 2013 Foundation - SSRS 2012 - Oracle 11g failing with ORA-12638: Credential retrieval failed

I have set up SharePoint 2013 Foundation, SharePoint Reporting Services and SQL Server 2012 in a single server. I then created a Data Connection to Oracle 11g. Upon testing the connection, it throws the error “ORA-12638: Credential retrieval failed”.
Given below are the steps of installation and configuration.
    Installation till basic authentication:
The installation has been done in a
    single server.
Installed SQL Server 2012 (Developer version).
    Selected only the following features:
    Database Engine Services
    Analysis Services
    Reporting Services – SharePoint
Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint Products
    Management Tools – Basic
    - Management Tools - Complete
      2. Installed SQL Server 2012 SP1.
      3. Installed SQL Server 2012 SP2.
      4. Installed SharePoint Foundation 2013.
      5. Created web application (without Kerberos; we did not even create the SPNs).
The application pool has been configured to use Reporting Services account since it is a single server installation. This account has been registered as a managed
    account.
      6. Created Site Collection.
      7. Verified that Reporting Services is not installed.
      8. Installed SharePoint Reporting Services from SharePoint 2013 Management Shell.
      9. Verified that Reporting Services is installed.
     10. Created a new SQL Server Reporting Services Service Application and associated the Web Application to the new SQL server Reporting Services Service Application.
      11. Verified that SQL Server Reporting Services Service Application and its proxy have started. Reset IIS.
      12. Created a Site.
      13. Created a Data Connection library with “Report Data Source” content type.
      14. Created a Report Model library with “Report Builder Model” content type.
      15. Created a Report library with “Report Builder Report” content type.
      16. Uploaded an SMDL to the Report Model library.
      17. Added the top level site to Local Intranet instead of as a Trusted Site in the browser settings.
      18. Able to create and save a report using Report Builder.
Hence, basic authentication is working and SSRS is able to connect to Oracle database.
Next we have to configure Kerberos settings between SharePoint and SQL Server.
    Implementation of Kerberos authentication
In the Report Server machine, opened the file C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\WebServices\Reporting\rsreportserver.config  and added the Authentication Types of RSWindowsNegotiate
    and RSWindowsKerberos.
     2.  Set up the following SPNs.
                   a) SQL Server Database Engine service (sqlDbSrv2):
                    setspn -S MSSQLSvc/CER1110:1433 CERDEMO\sqlDbSrv2
                    setspn -S MSSQLSvc/CER1110.cer.demo.com:1433 CERDEMO\sqlDbSrv2
In the Delegation tab of the account, selected "Trust this user for delegation to any service (Kerberos only)".
    b) Account: SharePoint Setup Admin account (spAdmin2)
         setspn -S HTTP/CER1110:9999 CERDEMO\spAdmin2
                    setspn -S HTTP/CER1110.cer.demo.com:9999 CERDEMO\spAdmin2
In the Delegation tab of the account, selected "Trust this user for delegation to any  service
    (Kerberos only)".
    c) Account: SQL Server Reporting Service account (sqlRepSrv2)
                       setspn -S HTTP/CER1110 CERDEMO\sqlRepSrv2
                       setspn -S HTTP/CER1110.cer.demo.com CERDEMO\sqlRepSrv2
In the Delegation tab of the account, selected "Trust this user for delegation to any service
    (Kerberos only)".
      3. Configure the Web Application to use “Negotiate (Kerberos)”.
      4. Logged in as SharePoint Administrator to the SharePoint server and opened the top level site in the IE browser.
The Event Viewer logged the login process for the SharePoint Administration account as
    Negotiate and not Kerberos.
      5. Implemented Kerberos for Oracle database and client.
Able to connect to the Oracle database via Kerberos authentication using SQL Plus.
      6. Turn on Windows Firewall.
      7. While testing the site's data connection using Kerberos settings, got the error
“Can not convert claims identity to windows token. This may be due to user not logging in using windows credentials.”
Note: The Data Connection for basic authentication still worked.
      8. Created a Claims to Windows Token Service account (spC2WTS2).
      9. Started the Claims to Windows Token Service.
     10. Registered the Claims to Windows Token Service account as a Managed Account.
     11. Changed the Claims To Windows Token Service to use the above managed account.
     12. Verified that the Claims to Windows Token Service account (spC2WTS2) is automatically added to the WSS_WPG local group on the SharePoint box.
Note: The Reporting Services service account is also a part of the WSS_WPG local group.
     13. Added the Claims to Windows Token Service account (spC2WTS2) to the Local Admin Group on the machine having the SharePoint App Server.
     14. In the SharePoint box, added the Claims to Windows Token Service account (spC2WTS2) in the Act as part of the operating system policy right.
     15. The Claims to Windows Token Service account (spC2WTS2) has the WSS_WPG group configured.
When the C2WTS service was configured to use the managed account Claims to Windows Token Service account (spC2WTS2) earlier, the spC2WTS2 account was automatically
added to the WSS_WPG local group on the SharePoint box. The WSS_WPG group in turn is configured in c2wtshost.exe.config file.
     16. Verified that the Reporting Services account is a managed account and part of the WSS_WPG group.
     17. Earlier Service Application Pool - SQL Server Reporting Services App Pool service was associated with the SharePoint Admin account.
Changed this to associate the Reporting Service account with the Service Application Pool - SQL Server Reporting Services App Pool service.
     18. Changed the delegation of the Reporting Service account to constrained delegation with Protocol Transitioning. This is because we are transitioning from one authentication scheme (Claims) to another (Windows Token).
For this, the delegation has been changed to "Trust this user for delegation to specified services only". Also, selected the sub radio button "Use
any authentication protocol". Selected the Oracle Kerberos service as the service to which this account can present delegated credentials.
Note: The Reporting Service account already had an HTTP SPN.
     19. Next, the goal was to make the Claims To Windows Token Service account match the Reporting Service account.
For this, we created a fake SPN for the Claims To Windows Token Service account since the delegation tab was missing.
The delegation has been changed to "Trust this user for delegation to specified services only". Also, selected the sub radio button "Use any
authentication protocol". Selected the Oracle Kerberos service as the service to which this account can present delegated credentials.
     20. Restarted the SharePoint server.
     21. Tested the data connection with the Kerberos settings again.
           Got the error
    “ORA-12638: Credential retrieval failed”.
Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this setup?

  • How to Create Manual Standby for a Oracle 11g RAC with ASM to Single Instan

    Hi All,
I have a task to configure a Single Instance Standby Database with ASM for 2-node Primary RAC+ASM database.
Version using : 11.1.0.6 Oracle 11g --- *" STANDARD EDITION "* Please note datagaurd will not be supported in standard edition.
Primary database - 2 -Node RAC using ASM storage (All datafiles, redologs, controfile and archive logs)
Need to setup a single instance standby database manually and than using scripts to transfer the archive logs from primary server to standby server to do recovery time to time.
Please let me know if there are any configuration document(s) which can help me to set the manual standby? or need your kind help to give your valuable ideas how to go in above situation.
    Thanks in advance

Well if the archive logs are stored in ASM on the primary nodes, you almost definitely want to be using RMAN to access them. Then to transfer between primary and standby there are many options, this is essentially the step that Data Guard takes care of - so if you (and I) are running Standard Edition, this is the part to "worry" about.
I'm not really sure what you mean by this:
As in standard edition the archive destination will be on ASMI don't think the Edition of Oracle (Standard or Enterprise) dictates where and how you store your archive logs, but it's possible I've misunderstood what you mean...SE dictates that database storage for RAC will be ASM, including archive log files. Anything else is not officially supported. I haven't tested but it may be that you can use LOG_ARCHIVE_DUPLEX_DEST to specify a local filesystem for archive log files as well.
If that doesn't work you'll have to script rman "backup as copy" jobs regularly and then transport the results of that.

By the way, it seems Robert has been pretty helpful, it's polite to give him some points dude. And since this is your thread, not mine, give him a "helpful" from me too :p
    El DBA
Incidentally if you are forced down the RMAN backup as copy route then this will likely throw your current backup retention strategy somewhat, you'll need to think carefully about when an archivelog can be deleted following backup, how many times it might be backed up and so on. I do understand, and have argued for, the use of SE RAC. I also understand and have argued for and implemented manually managed standby a number of times. However by the time your primary database is a RAC instance and you need a standby for DR etc then you really have to look very seriously at whether Standard Edition is still the right investment or not. You will be spending a lot of DBA time managing and troubleshooting this, and you will find that it is less reliable than the off the shelf solution. I suspect that you are very close to the point where an EE installation becomes a worthwhile investment here.

  • Need Pre_requisites to install Solution Manager in Solaries 9 and Oracle 10

    Hi Administrators,
In my project, we have planned to implement Solution Manager 7.0 in O/S Solaries 9 and Database Oracle 10.2.
We are implementing this Solution Manager in already existing SAP server.
We have server like TSAPNGN, In this server already our QAS ECC 5.0 and QAS BW 3.5 are exist and running in this server.
I need information like, What is the pre_requisites to install SAP application, where already another SAP exist in Server.
    Appreciate ur help.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Jagan.

    Hello
There is no difference whether you are installing the Solution Manager on a separate server or an existing server already containing the DEV system. you will get some idea from these Notes
21960 Several instances/systems on one UNIX computer
28392 Two R/3 Systems on one Windows NT Server
322653 DB6: Two or several systems on a host
I think, you should go for Central System installtion for the Solman, with it's own database.
and what do you mean by 'standalone solman' here ?
Just go 'installation and upgrades' -> My application components -> SAP Solution Manager -> Solman 7.0 or EHp1 -> Installation and upgrades
    For installation guide
installation and upgrade guiedes -> SAP components -> SAP Solution manager -> Select solman version

  • New installation woes - SQLDeveloper on Oracle Linux x64 and Oracle 11g XE

Note that as an experienced Oracle developer in enterprise environments running MS Windows OS, I am familiar with SQLDeveloper for Windows. I don't have a lot of experience with Linux however. I don't find it intimidating, I just don't have a lot of accumulated knowledge.
I have recently been trying to set up a development environment on my Windows7 Professional x64 laptop.
    1. Installed Oracle VBox
    2. Installed Oracle Linux 5.2 inside the VBox (because Oracle 11g XE is not certified on 64 bit Windows, needed to go with a Linux OS)
    3. Installed Oracle DB 11.2 XE
    4. Installed JDK as instructed in the SQLDeveloper release notes for Linux x64
    5. Installed SQLDeveloper 3.1.07.42-1
No apparent issues with any of the installations.
Problem : I can run SQL Plus from the command line, but when I click on the icon for SQLDeveloper, nothing happens. No error messages, nothing else.
Question #1 : Unsure how to debug/troubleshoot this. Will read through the installation and release notes for SQLDeveloper, but any suggestions would be welcome.
Question #2 : Could this be due to an issue with the JDK installation? It appeared to be successful (no obvious issues) but I can't see anything in the Oracle Linux menu system that tells me the JDK was installed successfully. How can I confirm that the JDK installation was successful?

    >
The Linux x64 version of SQLDeveloper doesn't come bundled with JDK. There is a version of JDK recommended, with an advisory to install it before installing SQLDeveloper. This I did, with apparent success. I guess I'll have to install the JDK again and check my Java versions afterwards. Thanks.
    >
I don't know what JDK you downloaded since you didn't say. What version was it? Post the link.
I find it hard to believe that the JDK version recommended was 1.4.2 since that is an ANCIENT version of Java, you have to hunt to even find it for download and most importantly the sql developer main download page clearly announces what version of Java is needed.

    JDK Support
Oracle SQL Developer 3.1 is shipped with JDK1.6.0_11. However, you can connect to and use any JDK 1.6.0_11 or above. To use an existing JDK, download the zip files listed below "with JDK already installed."
    >
As you can see you need JDK 1.6.0_11 or above.
If the version you say was recommended was actually 1.4.2 then that is an error; post the details so the developers can get that error fixed.
I don't know what is on your system and can only go by the information you provide
    >
    4. Installed JDK as instructed in the SQLDeveloper release notes for Linux x64
    java version "1.4.2"
    >
You either downloaded version 1.4.2, which seems unlikely, or your Linux included 1.4.2 and it is being used when you try to launch sql developer.
Perhaps your system now has multiple versions of Java on it but the version being used by sql developer is the wrong one. If so that is the issue you need to resolve.
