I ran top version 3.8beta1 on a Solaris 11 system and it matches phys memory size as well.
Confirm that you don't have a /etc/system setting that is constraining phys memory and that
prtconf is reporting total amount as well.

  • My 32 GB Touchpad showing only a memory capacity of 16 GB

I just noticed that my 32 GB touchpad is showing only a storage capacity of 16 GB. Has anybody experienced this?  Can anyone help me fix this problem?
Post relates to: HP TouchPad (WiFi)

    Ckingphotos,
The TP has 1 GB RAM reserved for the system and the user memory avail. should be approx. 15 GB's with no additional apps or 3rd party software installed. Try a restart like the previous person did and check the avail memory.
You could also try the automated test in device info., diagnostics, automated tab and then select automated test suite. This will test the memory and will give an error code if it fails. If you get an error code, or if it still shows the same avail. memory, call the tech support line and setup a repair.

  • Vuescan Preview Showing Only Half Screen On 2012 Mac Mini

    Hi there,
I have a 2012 i7 2.3Ghz quadcore Mac Mini fitted with an Areca Thunderbolt 12TB RAID and running 10.8.2, and using the latest version of Vuescan, am getting only half the screen when going onto Preview from our Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro scanner, which is connected via a Firewire 800 to 400 cable.
One would think it is a problem of the software or OS but no......when running it on a mid-2010 2.4Ghz i5 Macbook Pro on SL 10.6.8 and on another 2011 Mac Mini we have (also running 10.8.2), the Vuescan runs perfectly and previews normally. So I am wondering.......what is the cause of the problem? Could it be to do with the Firewire port, interference from the Thunderbolt port, or simply that we have a defective motherboard? Would appreciate any help or suggestions, thanks.

    HI AngusParker,
Just wanted to say thanks.....your tip definitely helped me solve this problem!
It was indeed the screen calibration that was the main issue...once that was done the screen went back to normal.
    cheers!

  • Imported wmv file now shows only half the image

    Hi
I have a standard animation I use at the begining of all my Trailers and DVD. This plays ok on the PC, but today when I imported it to a new project the animation only shows the bottom half of the image rather then the whole image. It seems to be the top half when plaid in the monitor. The sequence is the same size as the animation. Even if not, the animation shows like this in the source monitor before imported into a sequence. Can anyone help? Thanks

It appears that Microsoft has issued the fixed update:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/bulletin/ms13-057
    See the "Update FAQ" section:
"Why was this bulletin revised on August 13, 2013?
Microsoft revised this bulletin to rerelease the 2803821 update for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
The rereleased update addresses an application compatibility issue in which WMV encoded video could fail to properly render during playback. Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 customers should install the rereleased update."

  • After restoring 60gb photo ipod showing only 16gb memory - help?

Ipod was working fine until one day a folder icon came up with the apple web address. It then suddenly reset itself and showed none of my music or photos (there was about 25gb on it).
I then tried updating the software - it was up to date.
    I then restored it.
When I attempted to add my music back on the ipod it told me there was not enough room. When I checked, the ipod was showing that there was only 16gb of free memory. When I checked the properties of the ipod through my computer it shows used space 20.2gb and free space 16gb. This still doesn't add up to the 60gb it is supposed to be.
    Can anyone help me?

Spooke to Apple - £189 to repair. It is a replacement of my original so the warranty is finished (even though it was replaced last May - within a year from when it died - you don't get a full year warranty on the replacement).
Once repaired would only be guaranteed for 90 days. Not worth it when I can get a new one for not much more.
Have bought a new one. If this lasts only a year or less it will be my last ipod! They are easy to use but not convinced by longevity!
Anyone got any suggestions for what to do with a broken ipod

  • A Sun X4450 shows only half of installed RAM in BIOS

In the Integrated Lightsout Manager I see all 8 x 2 GB Dimms but in the BIOS I only see 8 GB. I am very shure I populated the banks exactly.

The issue has been resolved. Turns out the RAM chips were from different manufactures. 6 from Micron and 2 from Samsung. All chips worked fine within brand but did not work well together, I assume from some timing differences. I had all Samsung installed and all 8 gigs now show up.

  • Clarification on the SHOW TOP command

Does anyone know much about the Show Top command? I am trying to get specs on the bandwidth utilization of a port. When
I do the Top command it tells me a percent of utilization. However it looks to be too low. I verified the util using a traffic generator test set and it has results of almost double the util. that the Top command stated. So my thoughts are that if the port is set for 100/Full then the Top stats for Util show only half Dux. Is this so??? I think that I need to double the Top results for util and that will be the true Util for the port. Can anyone verify this????

you are kind of correct, that it will look like a half duplex utilization because process actually bundles the TX AND rx into the same counter and it also looks at the full duplex bandwidth when calculating the % utilization. So a GE port is really 2000Mbps full-duplex. so, from the traffic generator you are sending at line rate of 1 Gig, the TOP will see that as 50% utilization. Does that make sense. This is how I understand it.

    Hi,
Did you used OUTER join?? if you have any suitable Outer join according to my understanding query should return Assignment data but with NULL value, then you can replace as you need it in Reports.

    How about the following: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=show+memory+with+top+command
The 5th column (VIRT) shows the amount of RAM + swap
The 6th column (RES) shows RAM
The 7th column (SHR) shows memory shared between processes

  • P55-GD65 registers only half of memory (now won't even boot)

    Hi
i have big problem with deployment of new system. Specs :
    MSI P55-GD65
    Patriot Sector 5 PGV34G1600ELK 2X2GB
    Intel i7 860
    CHIEFTEC 500W
NV 7900 gs (connected for diagnostic reasons)
First, BIOS recognized only half amount of RAM (2gb from 4gb)
-updated BIOS to 1.5 - nothing changed
-cleared CMOS and restored defaults - nothing changed
Second, i tried to instal win7/win2008r2 - freezes after installation booting progress bar disappears (tried to boot from USB key and from network deployment server)
Then, i tried to install win2003 - success! but system works unstable (eg once frozen at cinebench multicore test, once BSOD while booting etc)
CPU-Z recognized properly amount of installed RAM (and said that dual channel is disabled), but system still says that is only 2 gigs of ram.
Then, i found on this board that CPU bented pins could cause the problem, so i checked pins, and they seems to look fine (Hi res photo of pins)
After i mounted CPU back, the system event won't boot - all six CPU phase diods on main board are active, fans turns on, but boot process won't start.
Anyone know is there any way to fix it? (before i give back everything to vendor)

i just bought my MSI P55-GD80 yesterday. i just hope i wont be getting the same issue as some other guys do.
im planning on building my new rig tomorrow because i dont have my memory cards and video card yet(might get these items tomorrow).
so yeah, i will be checking the CPU seating. will try to seat it once then remove it for the pin contacts checking. and i hope too that the mobo i got has at least the 1.4 BIOS version, because to tell the truth i never done any BIOS flashing before(actually ive done it once with my XPS 630i rig and it went easy for me to do. i dont know whats the procedure for the MSI boards so no idea at all). and to tell the truth, this is my first time building my own rig so im a bit excited and i prioritize durability(long lasting) and always hoping not to get any problem building my very own rig for the first time.
**so here is my question :
how will i know if the CPU pad doesnt have a good contact with the socket pins?
what should i do if after checking i find out that my CPU pad doesnt have a good contact with the socket pins?
what if after checking i find out my CPU doesnt have good contact with the socket pins but with my GD80 reading 4gb of my memory cards?
if you wanna know where i got my board, i bought it here in japan from a known computer parts retailer. and yes im living here for now and its really hard for me to return my product if its faulty because, first im not that good at speaking japanese language, and second they might have different procedure for returning products that i might not know.
thanks in advance, will appreciate any help and reply,
    Skaahr
