Solaris 10_u8 upgrade slow down mysql store procedure

Hi,
Recently we upgraded the following and found out that MySQL store procedure takes more than 40 times longer to run:
Old configurations:
- Hardware T5120
- Solaris 10_u4 8/7
- MySQL 5.1.30
- Primary service domain has 8 ldoms, primary has 4 cpus and 2G mem
- Ldom mgr 1.0.3
- Database server sits on LDOM2 with 12 vcpus and 8G mem, two image file disk export from primary, basically the whole 2nd disk raid 1 for LDOM2, one 15G for OS and other 100G for database
- Store procedure only takes 0.87 seconds to finish
New configurations:
- everything is same as above, except I patched the primary to kernel patch 142900-02, then the mysql store procedure in LDOM2 takes about 35 seconds to finish
I have tried all different kind of combinations, from the above configuration I think there might be some kernel parameters settings changed since the upgrade but not sure what are they. If any one know or has some kind issues please let me know. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Hello.
Patch 142900-02 is old. You can try install 142909-17. This patch obsolete 142900.
For rest you can remove patch 142900-02 and check performance.
Regards.

  • Yosemite upgrade slowing down my Macbook

Hi - I recently upgraded to Yosemite OS X and it has slowed down my Macbook (2011 model, 2Gb RAM). Everything runs painfully slow - booting up, opening any applications, opening Chrome, Thunderbird - EVERYTHING. Its been suggested I add RAM but not being a techie Mac user i havent a clue how to do that and not really sure i want to throw more RAM at an old-ish machine. I read on the forum about EtreCheck and am hoping this report may help me get some answers?
    Thanks

    4. If I was to download this book, can I transfer the book from my ipod to my laptop and read it using foxit pdf reader on my laptop using windows 7 64 bit.
please provide complete details. thank you

    1. it is in pdf format

You can get it in different formats here:

If you have questions about the content, ask the publisher.
I think the version available in the iTunes store is an app, which may only be readable on the iPhone.

  • Upgrade to Yosemite Slowed down computer substantially

    Hi All,
I recently upgraded my MBP (mid-2009) to Yosemite.    I noticed that people have been using EtreCheck to determine what is the root cause of these Yosemite upgrade slowdowns.   My issue is that I am having difficulty interpreting the output file.   Any help and recommendations would be appreciated.
    Here is the file:

I have seen so much response about the Mountain Lion update slowing down computers.  I am updating from Mac OS x 10.6.8.  What can I do to ensure the upgrade will go fine?  Do I unplug my external hard drive before installing, or keep it plugged in?
Also, I have the 08 version of iWork. Will this cause problems for the update?  Can I update this AFTER I update the processor?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
There's no reason to think that Mountain Lion will slow down your Mac. Just make a backup of your data before upgrading with Time Machine > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427
Also, check that your apps are compatible > http://www.roaringapps.com Upgrade them to a compatible version or delete them before upgrading.
The external drive won't make the OS X Mountain Lion installer fail, but it's better to unplug it during the upgrade.
iWork '08 is compatible with Mountain Lion. iWork '09 includes OS X Mountain Lion features and can be purchased at the Mac App Store.
To upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion, I recommend at least 4 GB of RAM. You can check how much memory you have in Apple menu > About this Mac

  • Mac Mini very slow at 4 gig memory, upgrade to 16 still slows down but takes a longer time

I bought a Mac mini a year ago. With an i7 and i terabyte and it cam with only 4 gig of ram. It worked fine for a while and i installed some apps then it started to get very slow. seeing the colorful "hourglass " turn round and round quite a few times. Then i went to the activity monitor where it told me that the memory used was about 3.89 gigs. I purchased a memory cleaner app from thr app store which helped a bit.
Today i upgraded to 16 gig memory and bang my computer ripped. The activity manager said i was using 6 gigs of ram and had 9.8 remaining.
after being on the internet for a couple of hours and using Firefox with about ten tabs open the computer started to get very slow again.
I checked the activity manager and it read 6 gigs used and the cash read a whopping 9 gigs. Did not think i would need the memory cleaner any more but after doing a clean it worked better.
Why did i get a whopping 9 gigs in the cash ? which is what it read after my computer slowed down again.

You may want to post in the Mac Mini forum, this is the iMac forum. If you would like me to I will ask the moderator to move the thread.

  • I have an older mac w/LION 10.7.5 - if I upgrade to Mountain Lion 10.8, will it slow down my computer significantly?

I have an older IMAC - purchased in 2007. Works well. I have LION iOS 10.7.5 and want to upgrade to Mountain Lion 10.8. Will it slow down my computer? If so, how much?

Be sure you can upgrade your iMac:
    Upgrading to Yosemite
You can upgrade to Yosemite from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Yosemite can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
To upgrade to Yosemite you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks/Yosemite - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Yosemite
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later

    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase a redemption code at the Online Apple Store: OS X Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. Use the code to redeem a download of Mountain Lion from the App Store. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

  • I a running 10.6. on a 2.1 ghz intel core 2 duo. Can i upgrade to mountain lion or will it slow down

I a running 10.6. on a 2.1 ghz intel core 2 duo. Can i upgrade to mountain lion or will it slow down?

    Read the following technical specification
This will tell you what facilities your computer needs to be upgraded to Mountain Lion.
Pay particular attention to the amount of RAM.  Apple says you need 2GB, most people here would recommend 4GB.
When you are satisfied you are equipped, you will need to use App store to buy the download ... and away you go.

  • I just upgraded to Maverick on my2 year old Macbook Pro and it has slowed down the computer terribly.  All I see is that whirling circle every time I do anything.  How do I go back to old OS.  Terrible upgrade -- forces you to buy a new Mac!!!!

I just upgrade to Maverick on my 2 year old MacBook Pro and it has slowed down the computer terribly.  All I see every time I do anything is that crazy circle going round and round.  I don't recommend you upgrading.  How do I get rid of it.  I believe it forces you to buy a new macbook!!!!

It does not. First things first have you tried restarting?
    Try restting PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
Try booting up in Safe Mode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455
Also open "activity monitor" and look and see what is using a lot of processing power.

  • DSL speed slow down after 10.5 upgrade :(

    Hello all,
I have a question, and need the Apple cyber-community to help me with this one.
I have A.T.& T.'s DSL service. I have a 2WIRE 1701HG router-DSL modem. I HAD 1.2mg download speed 99% of the time with MacOS 10.4.x. Yes I know that it is not very fast, but I live in the country side and am at the VERY VERY end of the line of service.
After I upgraded to MacOS 10.5.x, my down load speeds have slowed down to around 200 to 850bps. I have checked my hardware, and all seems fine. I called A.T.&.T and they ran a speed check and said I was getting 1.5 speed. Any ideas how to fix the issue?
    Thanks,
    Apple //GS

PS: "Get a Windows Vista computer!!" That was what I got from the tech at A.T.&T. "They don't have this problem....................."

  • Slow down after my line was upgraded to ADSL2+

    Hi there
a couple months ago BT upgraded our line from ADSL 1 to ADSL2+ now it all sounds good but I have experienced some major slow downs since they have done it and constant calls to CS have just resulted in my line getting tested and then having a different person phone back to give the results but just end up getting another line test done and it is starting to get very annoying.
Before the upgrade I was downloading at around 8.1Mb/s, uploading at 1.1Mb/s and had a ping of around 15. Now it is this.
Is there anything else i could do that could improve my speed?
Thanks for reading my wall of text.

  • Upgrade to Leopard causing internet slow down?

I just upgraded my G5 PowerMac from Tiger to Leopard. The Mac is plugged via ethernet directly into a NetGear router so I can also access internet wirelessly from my MacBookPro. Since the OS upgrade on my tower, I've noticed marked slow down in internet connectivity: web pages load really slowly and Mail takes forever to pull in my mail. Could Leopard be the culprit? Have run a speed test and results show that I'm getting what I'm paying for in terms of up/download speed, but wait times are ridiculous! Help!

If you look really carefully, you see me alternately scratching my head and hitting it against the wall . I'm almost clueless. I'm going to assume that your Internet access is via WiFi, right? If so, the only thing I can come up with is that when you mirror the display there's some kind of electrical interference that gets thrown up. (And I'll cheerfully admit that I could easily be totally wrong!) If I'm correct though, it is possible that switching your WiFi channel, selecting Internet robustness in the WiFi settings, or moving your notebook as far away from the display as possible might work.

  • LR 2.5 slows down after upgrading to Snow Leopard

This is my first post, so first of all I'd like to say hello to everybody here and apologize for my poor english
My computer is an iMAC with an Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, 500GB HD and a graphic card NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS with 512 MB VRAM.
The LR database is contains, up to now, about 5000 photos most of them in NEF format (my camera is a Nikon D300)
In the last month I noticed that the performance slowed down consistently as thumbnails refresh started taking a long time as well as editing photos and the overall LR2 (executing at 64bits) working.
I started monitoring the system, but despite the low LR2 performances I still had a lot of free RAM and the cores weren't really working a lot.
I can't say this for sure, but I could bet that the performance problems began with the upgrade to Snow Leopard.
Can anybody help me to solve this issue?
    Thanks a lot in advance
    Roberto

    Ian Lyons wrote:
Lightroom performance should not have deteriorated as a result of upgrading to Snow Leopard. Things that you should check are:
    1. that you are indeed running Lightroom in 64-bit mode (open System info under Help menu and check that Application Architecture shows x64)
    2. that you have all of your previews rendered to at least Standard-size
    3. that you have at least 20% free hard disk space
You should also run the Catalog Optimisation option in Catalog Settings
    1. Yes, LR2 was running in 64 bit mode before upgrading to Snow Leopard, then (don't know why) gets back to 32 just after the upgrade and I manually set it to 64 bit (checked in the application and on the process monitoring while running)
    2. I have the preview rendered 1:1 in the folder I'm working on (done again tonight)
    3. I have 55% free HD space
    4. I run a Catalog Optimization many times, The last one was tonight
In other words I've checked and tried all these things many times. I've red on the internet that it might be a geforce 8800 issue, but I've found only windows references. Don't forget that neither RAM nor CPU are stressed when LR2 is working and all other applications run normally
