Solaris 10, upgrading from update 7 to update 9, not enough space?

This is a VM that was created some time ago. The VM was created with a 5.0G / slice and a 15.0G /scratch slice (I'm not sure why). This is solaris 10, x86, update 7. It's got 1.5G free space. When I boot off the Update 9 ISO image and go to do an "upgrade" installation, it complains that the minimum suggested amount is 5049840 Kbyte size blocks, while my disk has only 4939988 Kbyte size blocks. It's strange because the OS is already installed and running fine, with 1.5 G free space. Is there any way for me to get around this check? It's also asking me for a backup device which, since I don't care to back up anything, is a bummer.
I'm having so many problems with this VM. I just need to upgrade it. I've tried installing the patch bundle, but patching hangs on this VM for some reason. Then I've tried to just upgrade the OS and it seems to be 1 road-block after the next. I'm not sure why this is all so difficult. I'd appreciate any info on this installation issue if possible. Thanks for reading.

  • My ipod cannot be updated because there is not enough space... (Please help

    Hello,
I was updating my playlists and I see that I still have
4.84 GB left on my ipod to fill. Even if I try to add 1 song to my ipod it states: "My ipod cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the selected playlists."
Shouldn't I have enough room for more songs with 4.84GB left? I thank you in advance for anyone's time & help.
    Sunny regards,
    William

Auto update playlist and music. I tried waht you sugested earlier, and it gave me a diferent message. I have it working, I moved one of the folders out of the iPosd_Control and I am able to see the list in iTunes. One of the songs in the folder could have been corrupted. I thank you for your help. I still do not understand the multi folders. This is a good one for anyone else who gets that message.

  • Upgrade from N95 to N95 8GB not enough memory

I have just upgraded from the standard N95 to the N95 8GB, I did the back up from the old phone however when restoring the files to the new handset it has completely filled the phone memory. There does not seem to be any management of the memory (aka sim/phone of old) I cant see how to make it use the larger mass memory rather than the phone.
Having the phone memory full renders it unable to do anything, like set up a mailbox or choose a ringtone.
    Any ideas....

  • Getting "not enough space on iphone" error when trying to restore iPhone from latest backup in iTunes.

Recently updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 6.1.3 and lost all of my contacts after doing so.  Tried to restore phone to latest backup performed in iTunes but I get an error message that tells me there's not enough space on my iPhone to perform the restoration.  The ultimate problem I'm trying to solve is the loss of my contacts so if there's another way to solve that please let me know. If restoring my phone is a proper solution please help me do so.
    1.  How do I get my contacts back?
    2.  How do I restore my iPhone from latest backup when getting "not enough space" error?
    Please help!

Contacts are not part of the backup. They are seperate and either you need to sync them with an email program such as outlook or use icloud mail, contacts, and calendars on the phone. Unless you did that then the contacts are gone.

  • I've upgraded my MacPro but not enough space to do so on my 5s and iPad.  Should  I take both back to original settings and allow the update?

Not a techie here...please advise on best method to update 5s and iPad Air.

To clarify:  I have a 16g iPhone 5s and an iPad 32g and both are due for current Yosemite updates.  I successfully completed Yosemite update for MacPro.  I attempted to delete photos and music from both of the former in order to allow the download, however, still not enough space.  Also removed some apps that weren't being used.  Still not enough space.  So I thought perhaps taking both devices to original straight-from-the-box state might allow for easiest updates to download.

  • Navigon 1.7.0 update - Not enough space

I'm trying to install the 1.7.0 update to *NAVIGON MobileNavigator North America*. According to the app store, the space requirement is *1.59 GB*. I understand that I need 2x the space, so I should need 3.18 GB to install the update.
According to my Settings > General > About screen, I have *4.0 GB* available.
I can't get the install to run though. I keep getting the following error:
"There is not enough space to download 'NAVIGON MobileNavitator North America'. Please delete some photos or videos."

How do you know that Navigon only uses twice the number of space in their update? They may be using additional temporary holding space during the upgrade which would mean that in calculating the update space required after examining your phone they know there is not sufficient room. The iPhone also retains some areas for swap space the app installers cannot use this area, so subtract about 500 MB from your available, and some apps may be reserving additional swap space.
So you are really talking about you need somewhere between 3.18 to 3.9 GB of space and you have roughly 3.2 to 3.5 GB available. Whether you like it or not, or consider it "barbaric" (exaggerate much?) you will need to free up more space. Or get a phone with more space available.
This is no different on other phones or on computers with limited disk availability.

  • I have backed up my ipad to my laptop prior to updating to the latest IOS and now I want to restore the backup back onto the ipad but it says there is not enough space? I have tried unticking all apps i no longer need, music etc but this still doesnt work

I have updated up my ipad2 which had the original version on it (4.??) to the latest version of IOS. Before I did this I backed up the ipad to my laptop so I wouldnt lose precious pics and videos of my baby boy.  Now that the latest version is on the ipad it is now asking me if I want to start as a new ipad or restore my backup from itunes.  So i select restore my backup from itunes and connect to itunes but it now says there is not enough space to do so.  I have a feeling it is because there are alot of pics on our ipad which i presume are all in this backup, many of which we do not need on the ipad anymore but I have no idea on how I go about deleting these pics??  And how do I find where on my laptop this backup is and most importantly the video and pics of my baby boy.

Restoring an iPad from an iTunes-generated backup should not require an Apple ID password.
Did you encrypt the iPad backup? If so, then trying to restore will require entering the encryption password.

  • Not Enough Space to Sync My Photos After Updating to 4.3

With iOS 4.2, I was able to sync my entire Aperture photo library to my iPad and still had about 3GB to spare on it. It's a 32GB iPad. If I recall correctly, the photos took up about 6GB on it. After updating to 4.3 today, iTunes is telling me that it can not sync my photos to it because there is not enough space.
How can this be? I had been syncing the entire library before with 4.2. OK, maybe Apple is optimizing the photos differently for 4.3 and they need more space, I don't know. I went ahead and cleared out all my video I had synced there along with some other stuff and freed up over 20GB of space which is available. Yet iTunes is still saying there's not enough space. How can this be? There was space with iOS 4.2, but not with 4.3. With 4.2 I had a few GB to spare even with my entire photo library synced. Now I freed up over 20GB and it's telling me it can not sync my photos.
So now I am going to try to selectively sync photos to my iPad instead of choosing the option to sync them all. I still don't understand why I was able to sync them all under 4.2, but not 4.3.

OK, I got it to work. Here is what I did.
First it seems that iTunes is over-estimating the size of the photo library before it re-optimizes it. I have 17k of photos that I sync. It was reporting it would need in excess of 30GB of space to sync it (actually it only reports that there's not enough space, it doesn't give you actual numbers, but I was able to calculate them).
So I cleared off all my videos from my iPad and whatever photos iTunes did sync to it and thus I had just over 20 GB free. Still wasn't enough space to sync my photos iTunes would report.
I know previously that my photos fit on my iPad under iOS 4.2 and even if Apple has changed the optimization process resulting in larger image files, I can't believe they would be 5x larger. So I decided to sync just a fraction of my photos. I synced about a third of my photos. iTunes reported that it would be using 10.5 GB of space for those photos. But once it optimized them and synced them to my iPad, it was less than 2GB of space. So I knew I would be able to fit them all, it is just that iTunes is over-estimating the size.
After a third of my photos were already synced to my iPad, now iTunes was reporting it would need 16.5GB for my entire library. I synced it.
In the end, I was able to sync my entire photo library back to my iPad and the resulting space used for it is 5.8 GB, not over 30GB as iTunes was estimating originally.
So if anyone else is having this issue, try clearing out some space on your iPad, and then syncing only a fraction of your library (a third or half) after that, then try syncing your entire library again. Once you do, you can put back media that you cleared out to make space.
    Cheers,
    Louis

  • New PC – Trying to update iPhone 5, says there is not enough space

I recently purchased a new PC.  I transferred all of my music from iTunes on my old pc to my new pc using an external hard drive, and imported the playlists.  Now, when I try to sync my iPhone to my new pc, it says there is not enough space.
It appears that itunes thinks that I am trying to add additional music to the phone, rather than replace the music that is already on there.  How do I go about syncing my phone with my new pc (ie, replacing the music that is on my phone with the same music, just from a different computer)?
If I restore the phone to factory settings and update using a recent backup, will this fix the problem, or will I run into the same issues afterwards, as the music from the backup is technically from my old pc?
    Thanks in advance

iPod cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold all of the songs in the iTunes music library. But my iPod does not show any songs. This all strated when I plugged the iPod in to the computer to charge it. I lost my songs on the iPod and cannot update it my play list. My iPod shows up in my iTunes, and show that there is songs there. But why does my iPod not show the songs, it is blank. I have run the gambit today, reset reinstall, updates, the works .... Can anyone please help? I just got this thing and it was working great until this. This has been the most frustrating day I have ever had.

  • After accepting update to my time capsule, I can no longer complete a backup because there is not enough space.  I tried deleting old files, but it doesn't seem to work.  Any advice:

My time capsule was updated through an apple download update on June 16, and now I cannot back up my computer.  The message is that there is not enough space.  I tried deleting my files, but it didn't help.  any suggestions?

How much space is there according to airport utility?
TM can be fussy.. Do a factory reset of the TC and give it a new name. Use short, no space and pure alphanumeric type names..
And reset TM. See A4 here. http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
Then set up TM again to the TC and see if TM will start .. the reset will not hurt the backup and TM can still find it on a renamed TC.

  • The iPod cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold..

My nano has been working fine until recently, when the following error has come up each time I plug it in:
The iPod cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold all of the songs in the iTunes music library, would you like iTunes to choose a selection of songs to copy to this iPod.
This would make sense except that I have my iPod set on Manual Upload of my songs, so iTunes shouldn't even be trying to move all the songs on my iTunes library on to my iPod. I reinstalled iTunes but still no change. The Automatic Upload of my Podcast feature doesn't work as before, and I don't have that many podcasts, and about 250 mb of free space. Anyone know why Manual Upload isn't working right?

The reason why all this is probably happening is because you either have no memory on ur ipod or u have so many songs that in ur itunes that ur ipod cant hold all such as if u have a 1050 songs say and ur ipod only holds 1000 or less then that message would be coming up but dont worry about its just telling u and saying it wants u to get a bigger ipod : )

  • The ipod "ipod" cannot be updated because there is not enough free space...

I am unable to update my ipod nano and get the message "The ipod "ipod" cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold all of the songs in the selected playlists." Huh? I have the 4GB nano and currently have 3.55GB used and 181MB free. There are 982 songs (3.8GB) in my "ipod selection." I have no idea why the nano will not update - I recently downloaded the latest update for ipod/itunes on 3/1/06. Can anyone help with this? I have no other playlists checked to update in preferences and cannot figure this out. Very frustrating.

It's telling you there's not enough space *on your 4S*.  The 25GB you refer to is probably that on iCloud, that's different memory than that on your iPhone.  You need to delete video, pictures, apps, or whatever ON THE IPHONE, to make enough room for downloading updates to your apps.
