Solaris 10 x86 - SMC server not starting

SMC server doesn't start at boot, and won't start manually with /etc/init.d/init.wbem start
starting it manually gives :

I have a basic Solaris 10 setup, with Entire Collection selected.
My graphic card is not working so I had to install in text mode and access X remotely.

I believe this is a fault in the crypto file that is mentioned in the Yahoo X86 posting, namely pkcs11_kernel.so. I have a possible workaround for this. Try looking at:

This is a free Web-based management tool that has most but not all of the functionality of the SMC. I tried downloading and installing the Solaris package from their download page, but this didn't work. What I eventually did was remove the package and download and install the generic Unix version, which was webmin-1.160.tar.gz as of when I downloaded it. The only gotchas to watch for are to run the setup.sh script and select Sun Solaris as the O/S, then select Solaris 9 as the version (they don't technically support 10 yet). I have been able to add users and groups and manage the disk without problems.

WebLogic admin server not starting.

Hi all,
I have a problem with my WebLogic Admin server not starting. Following a VM reboot last week our admin servers are no longer starting. On this particular server we have 3 admin servers serving 3 separate environments.
Theserver seems to be getting stuck right at the very start. I have tried removing tmp, cache and ldap directories. Searched for and removed all .lok files. I have manually turned on full debug to try and flush some extra information through standard out but no luck. It is very peculiar. When we have exported the domain to another box and started the admin server it has come up successfully.
This is the output from the logs - this is literally as far as it get before it hangs and does nothing. As far as I know the next thing WebLogic is doing is checking the version. Has anyone any ideas what the problem could be? It is server wide as all 3 admin servers on the same box are suffering the same problem.
This is Weblogic 10.3.2 on a Solaris vm

Just a wild guess (as you have restarted the physical servers), it could be related to the entropy of the machine.
What you can try to do is edit the java.security file in the $JAVA_HOME/jre/lib/security directory.
Find the entry securerandom.source and edit the value to file:/dev/./urandom (instead of file:/dev/urandom)

Play video (http) works, stream video (rtmp) does not; edge server not starting

However, I think the problem is the edge server not starting.
I looked in the logs directory and found the core log, the master log.
I also found /var/log/messages.
Shouldn't there be an edge log?

System Landscape Directory server not started

Hi,
We are running Solution Manager 4.0 SP13.
When I log ito the NWA get the message : System Landscape Directory server not started
We are trying to configure CEN but only the Local System can be administered.
If I goto the Central SLD and login - Administration - Server Started.
If I look at the ABAP - Transaction SLDAPICUST - save configuration - all ok
I goto the Jco Connectors and ensure all Jco Connections are configured: SAPSLDAPI_SID
ABAP RFCs; All configured
ABAP - Transaction - sldcheck .. it returns with success.
I login to the ABAP stack - smgw - logged in clients and all Jco Connections are available
I go into the J2ee Admin - navigate to the SLD Data supplier - all tests return success.
The SLD CIM is version 1.5.20
The application com.sap.engine.class.download is started ( Note 1017526 )
However when I login to with the J2ee_admin tool the following is missing from the CIM Client:

The J2EE Server not starting.

The J2EE Server not starting. (Not able to communicate with message server)
The following is the description I got from SAP.
" Most likely you did configurations on the instance properties, instead
of the global properties, which is the one where the the configurations
should be done. That is why now you did set local properties
which are now false, for example : ume.ldap.access.server_port=[]
This is the cause why the LDAP connection data cannot be retrieved.
This is why the UME service cannot be started.
This is why the J2ee engine is not comming up. "

1.Go to \usr\sap\SID\JCXX\j2ee\configtool and start the config tool.
2.No go to instance -
>server----->services--->com.sap.security.core.ume.services node.
3.Look for ume.ldap.access.server_port=[]
4.See if you have changed the value for the above parameter.If yes change the value to default and restart the engine.It will work
If at all you want to change any configurations you should do it following the below steps:
1.Go to \usr\sap\SID\JCXX\j2ee\configtool and start the config tool
2.Go to Global Server Configurations-->Services--

I'm getting error with server not started or not available error (FWM 01003). If i check in CCM, i don't see any entry for CMS server entry. How to start CMS server??? Please advise me. i installed trail version of crystal reports server 2008.

I am a consultant for Business Object products and experienced the same exact problem. We were installing Business Objects Edge, which is similar to Crystal Reports Server 2008, with MS SQL Server 2000 SP4 for the CMS System Database on a server that was named <Numbers>-<Letters>.
We discovered that some scripts that the installation and CMS run fail when the Server Name of the Business Objects Edge Server start with a number. When the CMS System Database is setup, a table called CMS_IdNumbers6 is created. It should have three columns, NameId, IdName and third column that is named after the server where you are installing Crystal Reports Server 2008, Business Objects Edge or Business Objects Enterprise. This column is called <ServerName>_iad_intensive_int_6400.
This column fails to get created when your server name starts with a number and subsequent scripts that insert records into this column fail. Renaming the server where we were installing Business Objects Edge to <Letters><Numbers> (no dashes either to be safe) solved the problem. We were successfully able to install Business Objects Edge. Please note: This is the server where you are installing Crystal Reports Server 2008 that needs to be renamed and NOT the MS SQL Server--just making a note because we had to go back and forth with our server team a couple of times on this point.

Hi Ganesh,
First place to look is in the SAPMMC Console and see whats the status of the processes specially if they are yellow. Then you can go and check the work directory and check dev_ms for errors in the message server, dev_disp for errors in the dispatcher and dev_w* for errors in the workprocesses. the work directory is located at <drive>:\usr\sap\<sid>\<instance>\work.
If the message server is not starting i will look first at the dev_ms and look for the error.

Solaris 10 x86 & DHCP server

Hello
I am trying to create a jumpstart server to install some IBM HS20
blades (usb cdrom is not supported for the installation as I know), so
I installed Solaris 10 x86 in a vmware virtual machine and I am trying
to create the jumpstart server, starting by the DHCP server ! this is
the problem !
My configuration is really simple, I followed the SUN instructions to
create the DHCP configuration...

On another note, I also have a blade server (3Up CMU-4) that has USB keyboard and mouse, even if the interface is PS/2 (converted internally to USB). Solaris will not recognize the keyboard and mouse when installing or booting, but after the kernel is loaded I can use them OK. I do get the keyboard profile error and I think it is related to the fact that there is no PS/2 k/m enabled. The only way that I found that I could use the mouse in the graphical interface was to use a USB keyboard with a hub and connect a USB mouse to the keyboard, Anybody has any explanation for this behavior?

Solaris 10 x86 JumpStart install not working

I'm working with several Compaq DL380 servers.
I've installed Solaris 10 x86 3/05 onto DL380 #1, and created a 3GB servername.flar Flash Archive of that system.
I've moved that .flar file to a local web server. I can bring it up in any host's browser on the local subnet, and am able to download the .flar file.
Now, on DL380 #2, I can install Solaris from CDs and open Mozilla and download the 3GB .flar file to /tmp. So, it is reachable. However, if I do a re-install, and this time specify a JumpStart install via HTTP, entering the URL that works, the install program tells me that it can't find a Flash Archive there. I'm entering the URL as http:/10.20.30.40/servername.flar, where 10.20.30.40 is the local web server. This is the same URL that works on other local hosts. (i.e. going to http:/10.20.30.40/ brings up the list of files, and a right-click on servername.flar gives you the option to download it, which I've tried and it does work - it takes a few hours, but it works)
I tried HTTPS first and when I encountered this issue I reconfigured the web server for just HTTP. Then I thought the Flash archive must require a .flar filename extension (I had originally called it servername.archive) so I created a new Flash archive with a .flar extension - servername.flar.
So, the same system, when installed from CDs, can access the web server and download the .flar file, but when re-installing and specifying the same URL it can't find it. I'm giving the DL380 #2 the same IP, same netmask, etc.. when doing the re-install.
I can't think of anything else to try. Any ideas?

So, I have tried this with the -i, -e -i+-e, with -s and without.
I have an entry in /etc/ethers and /etc/hosts. However, I don't think it is a FQDN or simular issue. Looks like a script issue.

Solaris 10 x86 Jumpstart Server

I have setup everything just like in this document:

The client machine that I am trying to jumpstart connects fine, shows" 38800" as the prompt and then just stops. After running "snoop" on the server, I discovered that it connects to it and communicates some data then does some "PRINTER" commands. This is illustrated below (note "titan" is the name of the computer to be jumpstarted and "server" is of course the jumpstart server):

It will then keep doing these "PRINTER" commmands forever. Everythings is setup like it should be, but when the client connects, it just sits there with no error, yet no packages install. It doesn't timeout with the waiting for ARP/RARP either. What is wrong? Any help is much appreciated.

Note that this is a Solaris 10 x86 606 build. I think it might have something to do with the fact that its 606.

J2EE server not starting

i tryed to logon user administration(SAP) by useing url, but i forgot J2ee_admin password so user is locked then i tryed Activating the Emergency User sap* after restating consol j2ee server is not starting

CE7.2 server not starting - Windows XP (SP2)

Hi, I have installed the CE7.2 server trial version on a 32 bit system (windows XP Professional SP2). I think as per the server requirement, it is matching the requirement. Also installation was sucessful and there was no error. But when i am starting the server, it is not starting up (Status - yellow - some processes are running).
When I check the trace file(dev_server0), there is error related to 'Java VM shared library issues'
Please let me know, if anybody has any idea about solving this issue.

Hye to All,
We have also downloaded CE 7.2 90 days trial Version. I tried different SAP notes provided at SERVICE MARKET PLACE, but still facing the same problem.
1) I made changes to heap size as per specification given here......

2) I Made changes in BOOT.ini as well.
SYStem specifications are
RAM of my system is 2 GB.
I also tried witth 3 GB RAM but same problem.

Hi,
Please chck the following notes.
1. Note 700864 was not applied completely - dispatcher's
framework.properties was not changed.
2. In the go script of the server there was "-server" option which
is not supported on Windows and Solaris - note 746673.
Reduce the values for new size memory parameters to 192M.
About this change, please consult with note 696410.
After the changes, Start the engine (using go scripts) without problems.

Directory server not starting

Hi
I sucessfully installed the directory server and when i try to start the directory server it says
Directory server not yet configured and it asks me to execute the command
./directoryserver -u 5.2 configure
When i do this the configuration consle appears and then im able to configure the directory server. After configuring when i say
./directoryserver start
the same error is displayed.
Im using a directory server that ships with web infrastructure suite and my OS is redhat linux. plz help me resolve this problem. The executable "directoryserver" resides in "/opt/sun/sbin".

you need to run idsconfig which isn't included as part of the linux package, why i don't know. do you have a solaris 9 or solaris 10 machine that you have access to? if so then copy /usr/lib/ldap/idsconfig to your linux machine and execute it, or run it from the solaris machine.
