Solaris 11.1 NFS RDMA symlinks not working?

Dear list,
We are encountering strange issues with symlinks in NFS-over-RDMA exported (ZFS backed) filesystems. We are using an Solaris 11.1 storage server to provide NFS-services to a number of CentOS6.4 clients. They are connected through Infiniband and using NFS-RDMA mostly works, except for the fact that symlinks are only readable/usable on the client on which the symlink was created. All other clients cannot access or follow the link.
Switching from RDMA to TCP "solves" the problem.
I found someone with the same issue on openindiana, but so far no answers on the list :

Boot the Live Media and then use the Device Manager to see if can find a driver for your hardware.
If it cannot which appears to be the case then you may have to install VirtualBox or some competitor first and then use that to run Solaris.

There is the "status" line and so the statd is running.
How can I fix that problem, so that statd ist running on my arch box too?

The Problem ist solved.
I use ldap for authentication. During the setup of the ldapclient I copied the nsswitch.ldap to nsswitch.conf. But the line for "hosts:" was:
hosts: dns ldap
but in my dns ist no localhost entry. After I changed this line to:
hosts: files dns ldap
everything was ok. The statd is now running and I can start to migrate to archlinux ;-)

Trying to lock out Solaris 11 non-root users but not working-

We are trying to lock out non-root user after 5 unsuccessful login attempts by editing the policy.conf file but it's not working..It's working in the global zone but not in the non-global zones. Is there something else we need to do?
This is Solaris 11 with Solaris 11 NGZs.

It works exactly the same way in the global and non global zone cases. This code is 100% userland so it doesn't mater if it is running
in a global or non global zone.
Note that you do need to configure policy.conf in both the global and non global zone.
Are both configured similarly with respect to nameservices ?
Currently we only support lock_after_retries for the local files nameservice.

NFS mount does not work: "Program version wrong"

I am trying to connect to my Ubuntu Server (8.04) with an NFS share. With OS X 10.6 everything worked fine, using Lion I get the following error in the log file:
04.10.11 17:45:50,295 com.apple.netauth.user.auth: mount_nfs: can't mount /home/poldi from pc-poldi onto /Volumes/poldi: Program version wrong
Seems like the NFS client on Lion and the Ubuntu server are not compatible anymore. Anyone knows a solution? A server side upgrade of 'nfs-common' and 'nfs-user-server' did not help.

Hey folks, I had this problem and used the nfsvers=2 workaround to fix it, which worked. I wasn't satisfied however, because NFS version 2 isn't as capable in a number of ways as NFS version 3.
What I learned is that in Snow Leopard, if a mount attempt with NFS version 3 fails, the NFS client will fall back by default to NFS version 2. In Mountain Lion (and possibly Lion, not sure), this fallback doesn't happen and you simply get an error instead. So if you're seeing this after an OS X upgrade from 10.6, then you should not assume that it is a problem on the OS X side (as I did), it may be a problem with the NFSv3 support from the servers you're accessing.
Linux Details
In my case, the root cause was a partially failed upgrade of my Linux server from Ubuntu 10.04 to 12.04. The NFS server was only partially working. If I restarted nfs-kernel-service, I saw the following in the messages log:

Also, if you ran "rpcinfo -p" against the server, it was clear that the only versions advertised by mountd were 1 and 2, although the nfs and nlockmgr services were advertising version 3.
The solution in my case was to re-run the package installers for nfs-kernel-service and nfs-common. Once I did this and restarted the nfs kernel service, I was back to serving NFSv3 from my Linux box, and the original mounts (without the nfsvers=2 qualifier) that had been working under Snow Leopard were working just fine under Mountain Lion.

Solaris 10 u3 upgrade to u4 not working

Trying to update from a patched solaris 10 u3 to solaris 10 u4 and it keeps failing.
its a mirrored boot with solaris 10 and solaris express installed.
The error it gives is that either it can't find the OS to upgrade or its un-upgradeable.
Any ideas why it fails and how i can get this to work?

You need to delete all local metadevices and metadb before upgrading.
It seem to be a bug.

Why keyboard and mouse right click not working in Solaris and Linux?

I have two problems:
1) I am working on AWT/Swing application and its working fine in window enviornment,but while running on solaris and linux mouse right-click option window not poping up.
2) Ctrl+c,Ctrl+v,Home and End keyboard key are not working in solaris and linux OS for same application.
Pls provide me some solution for these problem.

For mouse right click there was problem in my source code.I have not implemented the mousePressed() method
In case of keyboard Home, End and arrow key working fine after exporting AWTUSE_TYPE4_PATCH=false; in solaris and linux
But still Ctrl-c and Ctrl-v not working.

select(0,NULL,NULL,NULL,&sleeptime);

return 0;
When i run this program in Solaris 9, its printing 1 and after one minute its printing 2.
When i run this program on Solaris 10, its printing 1 and 2 without waiting for 60 seconds.
When i tried to print tv_usec, its printing as 0 in solaris 9 and some garbage values in solaris 10.
I think because of that the above select function is not working properly in solaris 10.
Why the tv_usec is not taking 0 as default values in Solaris 10?
We are using our legacy code for past 20 years. So, before going to do any changes we are trying to find why this happenig like this.

It sounds to me that you've been lucky for 20 years then.
Local POD variables on the stack that aren't explicitly initialized can contain any value. Here's what I see in your app with dbx

10g forms developed using windows machine is not working in Solaris machine

I have developed a form using the following version of Oracle Developer suit 10g Fomrs using WINDOWS machine.
My Application server is in a SOLARIS machine. All the .fmx are copied in the same SOLARIS machine in a directory.
I have copied the form (.fmx) in the same directories where the other forms are, in the SOLARIS machine.
Now i click on the menu item (menu item was already present there before developing the form in the menu. I did not have to create a new menu item in the Menu) in the windows machine.
The form doesnt appear.
Could you please tell me wheather i have to compile the form that i have developed in WINDOWS machine in some format of SOLARIS machine, or I have to do something else so that on the click of Menu item in Windows machine that form appears. Or Ihave to develop the form using SOLARIS machine?

Duplicate Handling in not working fot FTP and working for NFS in PI 7.31 SP06

Hi Experts,
To handle the duplicate files and I enabled the check box (Enable Duplicate Handling) in Sender File adapter , but this is working in case of NFS option and it's not working for FTP protocol.
What I observed is if the same file received second time from FTP server and File date and time is current file created date and time in FTP server.
But in case of NFS file time is last file modified date and time.
As per SAP help duplicate file is working based on last file modified date and time stamp - but this is not same for duplicate file in case of FTP.
I am testing this in PI 7.31 SP06.
Please help if you tested this option in PI 7.31 using sender FTP.
Because our scenario we might received from sender FTP duplicate files and this I wanted fix using our standard check box option.

Dynamic resizing in JDialog using setSize is not working properly on solaris, its work fine on windows.
i have set Jdialog size to setSize(768,364),
when i dynamically resizing it to setSize(768,575); it doesn't get change but when i move dialog using mouse it gets refreshed.
this problem is only happening on solaris not on windows.

It's only an approach but try a call of validate() or repaint() after re-setting the size of your dialog.

Ldap authentication not working for Solaris 8 host - Help!

I just recently migrated a host to use LDAP authentication. The only difference between this host and the rest of the hosts in the environment that I've converted to use LDAP is that this one is running Solaris 8.
Here's the steps I took to migrate it (though, I used the same steps for another Sol8 host in another environment and it works fine):
ldapclient -P stg -d mydomain.com -D cn=proxyagent,ou=profile,dc=mydomain,dc=com -w secret 192.168.1.69
My /etc/nsswitch.conf looks like this:

I've also cleared out the local user accounts for my human users, so there aren't any more passwd or shadow entries (yes, I ran pwconv). I also cleaned out the /etc/group entries for the same users. The machine appears to be configured properly, because I can run various DS commands that indicate this:

However, in the end, actual logins to this host fail via ssh. Snooping the traffic reveals that all the right info is being handed back to the client, including the crypt'ed password hash, uid, etc. just like I see with other hosts that work.

I assume you have applied lastest kernel patch and 108993 to this Solaris8 machine, and its nss_ldap.so.1 and pam_ldap.so.1 are the same as the other Solaris8 LDAP clients that are working for ssh via LDAP auth.
1) Please replace "objectClass: account" with "objectClass: person", I know SUN ONE DS5.2 likes "person".
2) Did you test and verify telnet/ftp/su working? but SSH not working?
3) If telnet/ftp/su all worked, and SSH (SUN-SSH or OpenSSH), make sure you have "UsePAM yes" in sshd_config and restart sshd.
4) It is not a must I think but normally I will add "shadow: files ldap" to /etc/nsswitch.conf, restart nscd after that.
5) Whenever ldapclient command is run and ldap_cachemgr is restarted, I usually also restart nscd and sshd after that, if not testing result may not be accurate as nscd is still remembering OLD stuffs cached which could be very misleading.
6) You may use "ssh -v userid@localhost" to watch the SSH communications, on top of your usual "snoop"ing of network packets.
7) Use the sample pam.conf that is meant for pam_ldap from Solaris 10 system admin guide with all the pam_unix_cred.so.1 lines commented out. This works for me, there is no sshd defintions as it will follow "other".

Hyperlink is not working when running on sun solaris OS

I have Created PDF file using oracle reports 2.5 version and included hyperlinks in reports which will open files located on our intranet server(http://cup2.ngc.co.uk). Hyperlinks are working properly when I generated report on window xp machine but not working when I compiled and executed report on solaris unix server(reports 6i).
please let me know why hyperlinks is not working when executed on solaris((5.8). do we need any setup to work hyperlinks on unix server.

Ok, there are 2 docs i've tried.
A = Doc created originally from MPB Pages with hyperlink
B = Doc created from iPad Pages with hyperlink
A was transfered to iPad Pages using iTune. I emailed A as pdf from iPad to gmail and reopen the file on iPad using Quickoffice / PDF Reader Lite, the link is NOT active, not working. BUT, when i read A using MBP gmail, the link is ACTIVE, i click on the link and it brings me to the correct webpage.
As for B, after the page was created with links on iPad, i emailed B as pdf from iPad to gmail, reopen the file on iPad using Quickoffice / PDF Reader Lite, the link is NOT active, and this time, when i read B using MBP gmail, the link is NOT active as well.
Weird huh? I'm starting to sense that is the problem with iPad Pages. What say you?

Hi Sharat
I see that you have two entries for helvetica font in your uifont.ali. Be aware that order of precedence is alias->embed->subset. If the helvetica part is appearing junk, try and comment out the entry in embed section and let the subsetting happen.
On Solaris, ensure that the case of font file names match.

Shudown command is not working in Solaris 10

I have two Sun Fire V890 server with Solaris 10 Operating System. In both the servers shutdown command is not working. if i am giving shutdown -y -g0 command means server is not responding, at the same time its proceeding init commands.. if i am giving init5 means, server is getting powered off. please give a solution.
