Solaris 11 : End of Support Legacy Hardware

Hi all,
Could you please tell me if it's possible to install Solaris 11 on a V490.
I know that i'll not get any support. I would like to use my old hardware to test Solaris 11.

Support for sun4u systems, with the exception of M-Series systems, has been removed from Solaris 11. Your V490 is not supported in S11. You can use Solaris 10 however but pay special attention to the licence agreement regarding the use of Solaris 10 when you do not have a support contract. It explains what you can and cannot use the system for.

FAQ's for end to end IT support.

Its Ajit again. I'd appreciate help on this one especially. I need to know what kind of questions do i need to ask to a client if I approach them for end to end IT support.
This is something that I'm currently working on.
For example: 1) How big is the IT infrastructure of the client
2) How big is there database
3) Questions about hardware like,
a) How many servers have they got?
b) HP servers, IBM servers etc?
4) What applications are they using?
5)What OS are they working on?
so on ans so forth.
Would really appreciate if i get more questions to add to my list so that i can serve my cleint in the best possible way.

An engineer and I contacted Adobe technical support by phone to ensure the PC I was having custom built was configured to its optimum. They advised XP64 as the best operating environment. After that discussion we had to completely revise procurement, etc to get the bits and compatible XP64 compatible software, putting the build project back a few weeks as well, Imagine how I laughed when I found out on one of these forums that XP64 is the worst choice and totally unsupported by CS4!
I have written to Shantanu Narayen, Adobe CEO and didn't even get an acknowledgement I raised this last week on the Adobe stand at BVE and was told they'd get someone to contact me asap but guess what, niet...! To be fair there has been one Adobe executive that recognises the problem and the damage poor customer support is causing the company; he has been as helpful as he can. Unfortunately, it seems the overall Adobe culture at the top is "get the money and run". If your problem goes beyond what's already on their web pages, tough luck!

V480 End of Support

When will Sun Fire V480 end of support ? Thanks a lot !

Five years from its "Last Ship" date.
I believe that make it December 2010.
The EOSL policy is briefly described at:

The SSH page for the V480 shows a `last ship` date of 12/05.

Of course, that doesn't mean your system will just die on that date.
It just means you can't go to Sun for a service contract,
or to get questions answered,
or to get repair parts quite so easily.

ASR9K HW End-Of-Support date

Dear all,
I'm asking about the End-Of-Support date of the ASR9K boxes, I've found some documents about IOS XR not about the hardware itself.
Actually we are going to consider bunch of these boxes in the core network, so I wanna know how many years approximately they could last.

Even if/when it is announced, there is still 5 years of support after an announcement.

Does Mozilla not publish lifecycle dates for Firefox? The reason I am inquiring further, is that our intention is to have upgraded the product we are currently running by late August of next year. I was trying to determine if 3.6 would be supported through August of 2012. I probably should have been more specific with my initial post.

End of Support Life for CF MX 8

With the release of ColdFusion MX 9 has an end of support life been announced for CF MX 8?

As they still support CFMX7 (2005), I think it'll be a while before they stop supporting CF8 (2007).

Considering the architectural change (reconciliation engine, request flow, etc...) and the environment - the migration path doesn't look very easy.
I think there is enough time in terms of couple of years available before 10g support closure.

We no longer support the invalid usage of constructing a CSSStyleDeclaration with one selector but re-registering it with StyleManager.setStyleDeclaration with another selector.
QE: Yes, look out for test cases that incorrectly create a CSSStyleDeclaration with a selector AND also use StyleManager.setStyleDeclaration(). I saw one invalid usage in the mustella test file: tests/Managers/StyleManager/AdvancedCSS/mixedSelectors/AdvancedCSS_MixedSelectors, specifically the "CSSStyleDeclaration_CSSSelectorKind_Type_method" test case.
Doc: Yes, please remove any examples that showed a CSSStyleDeclaration being constructed with a "name" as that is incorrect. You only construct these instances with a selector, or nothing.

Found a note explaining the significance of these errors.
It says:
"NZE-28862: SSL connection failed
Cause: This error occurred because the peer closed the connection.
Action: Enable Oracle Net tracing on both sides and examine the trace output. Contact Oracle Customer support with the trace output."

Adobe audition 3.0 couldn't find supported audio hardware please check your audio settings

Yes i have the same problem with adobe audition 3.0 windows 7
first i got error visual c++ run time error . ( old windows )
then i install new windows and every time i try to lunch adobe audition . stuck and error message

last step i did i ordered original CD of adobe audition 3.0 and expecting it next week .
but it bother me because i love working in adobe product i don't want to record in any other software .

Unfortunately your picture doesn't show any helpful information to give us a clue as to what the problem is. A more helpful image would be of the same view but with the Input/output selection shown (rather than the fx view) by clicking on the double arrow icon to the left of the fx one which is selected at present.

Solaris 10 real-time support on a uniprocessor system

I've read older documentation stating that Solaris has real-time support on a dual processor system. One of the CPUs is dedicated to the real time tasks. I was wondering
if this is an absolute requirement. Could one use Solaris 10 as a real-time OS on a uni-processor system?

Solaris is capable of running processes in real-time mode on either a uni- or multiprocessor machine. real-time mode is implemented at the scheduler level, with RT class processes layered on top of TS/IA and SYS processes. This is mostly implemented through priority levels (0-59 for TS/IA, 60-99 for SYS, 100-159 for RT [if used]). For details regarding this, pls. see priocntl(1).
Be aware of a couple of gotchas, though:
- RT processes will stay at their priority level, no matter what.
- They will not be subject to time-sliced scheduling (in fact, they won't be scheduled in normal ways, since the scheduler itself runs at SYS priority level!)
- They'll not stop running until they either voluntarily give up the CPU by means of something like swtch(), or block on a resource, or any process with an even higher priority becomes runnable.
In short, they might render your system more or less inoperable, if used without caution.
Consider it a BAD idea to put your shell into RT mode - and definitely do NOT try to run largely computational tasks (PI to the nth position, as an example) in RT mode, just to get some more performance out of your box! It won't work as you expect it.
RT is meant to run fairly short routines that require (almost ) deterministic response - such as acting on a signal from a sensor on an assembly line. It's definitely not a way to obtain better response times or outperform your peers.
Solaris, as any UNIX, is not an outright RT system - it just has some stuff built into it that could help in running it as if it were one.
Consider well what you're about to do, then reconsider ... ;) Don't say you haven't been warned.
