Solaris 11 Shown as Unknown

Hi all,
I successfully installed the Solaris agent on Solaris 11 machines, it is shown as healthy; however SCOM is showing it under Platform: Unknown and Version: Unknown.
Running the scxadmin -status command, output the below:
scxcimserver: is running
scxcimprovagt: is stopped
Running /opt/microsoft/scx/bin/tools/scxcimcli -n root/scx ei SCX_OperatingSystem to extract basic OS info fails with the below error:
ld.so.1: scxcimcli: fatal: libpegclient.so: open failed: No such file or directory
Enabling the verbose logs did not help or point to the exact error.
Any suggestions?

For the scxcimcli tool you need to source the /opt/microsoft/scx/bin/tools/setup.sh file first.
Run '.  /opt/microsoft/scx/bin/tools/setup.sh' then try the scxcimcli tool again.
For the Platform/Version issue it can take SCOM sometime to update this. Are you still seeing the issue since it's been a week since this post?
Regards,
-Steve

  • IMac shown as UNKNOWN under "Attached Devices" on Netgear Router

I have a small home network comprising my iMac G5 (10.4.7), and two XP laptops. One of the laptops is connected to a Netgear DG834PN Wireless Router via Ethernet Cable, and the other laptop and my iMac gets connection via wireless.
Yesterday I suddenly realised that my iMac is listed on the router's attached devices as UNKNOWN. Before, it showed my computers name (which I have NOT changed recently). MAC address is right though.
This does NOT affect my internet access - everything still going smoothly there. VNC also works, and even file sharing using my IP address. BUT my computer is no longer shown in the workgroup on the two Windows computers.
The two Windows computers "see" each other in the workgroup computer list. Mine is just not there.
I have rebooted the router, upgraded the firmware, restarted my iMac, changed my iMac's name, repaired permissions, but still my computer is shown as UNKNOWN.
Anyone out there having a CLUE why this could be?? As far as I can tell, it must be a problem with my Mac, since it is the only part of the equation that is not working!

Only one thing comes to mind.
Go to your "Sharing" option in the System Preferences. Click the "Firewall" tab and hit the "Advanced" button. In the window shade screen that unrolls, make sure the "Enable Stealth Mode" box is not checked. I have had this option prevent my lan router from properly registering my computer in the past.
    I hope this helps.
    Matt

  • Add-On Update is not working for my firefox. All plugins shown as unknown please help SCREENSHOT INCLUDED

When I click 'check to see if my add-ons are up to date' firefox shows that all my plugins are unknown. They all work fine, but I have no way of knowing which actually need to be updated or not outside of manually doing it, which I have been doing for some time. It's frustrating because it puts my computer at risk, as I can't easily see the status of all of my plugins at once as I should.
This has occurred through at least 10 updates of firefox and a couple reinstalls. I've been trying to ignore it, and I've googled for help but I haven't found a solution.

Firefox only knows about a few popular plugins like Flash and Silverlight and Java and the Adobe Reader, but not plugins like DivX and iTunes.<br />
You should see if those are up to date if you visit the plugin check page.<br />
You can always visit the website of a plugin to see if there is an update because the plugin check page may get it wrong or haven't been updated yet to recognize the latest version.

  • Solaris server hostname become unknown

    Hi
is it possible for a server to have its hostname become 'unknown' by itself? Prior to this happening, no one has login to make any changes to the configuration.
    Cheers

Like you mentioned, the /etc/hostname contains a hostname and the /etc/hosts contains the ip address.
The hostname was changed by itself without any one manually changing it. is this possible? We did not perform any reboots and the only cron job on the system was to run few hours later.
It was only after we logged in that we found that the hostname was 'unknown'.
However, thanks for the info for changing the hostname. Its should be helpful rather than performing a restart.

  • HT1338 why is my laptop shown as unknown when devices are listed in "find my mac"?

Among other devices, I purchased a MacAir laptop.  When I looked at the "find my iPhone and find my iMac" list recently, I noticed that the MacAir was listed as a unknown device.
How do I change that status to reflect that it is Me?

The fingertips vibrating persistenyly would seem to rule this out but my experience with electricity with my MacBook and my MacBook Pro is the shocks are my fault, not the equipment. Static buildup, especially during winter, is to blame. When it's dry (like it is here right now) it's a lot worse, all I have to do is squirm a little on the couch to send tingles across my hands or generate a nice loud pop.
When I walk up to my MBP I've taken to the habit of pulling my MagSafe adapter by the cord and touching it's outer connector to discharge excess static before touching my kit. Though, as I'm sure someone will point out, there is probably a good explanation as to why this is a really stupid thing to do.

  • Apple Wireless Keyboard (white) being shown as "unknown" in leopard

Hi all, I just got hold of a wireless keyboard (white original model) to use with my Macbook Pro (running 10.5.6).
    Here is my problem:
When I run the Bluetooth Setup Assistant, the keyboard will not be recognised as a keyboard, and will only appear on the list if I do a search for "Any Device". Even then it will be classed as "unknown" and pairing will not work despite trying to pair without a passkey.
The software the keyboard came out with is now out of date (10.2.xx) but all bluetooth updates have been applied to my laptop already.
I did a search and it appears that other people on this Support forum have had the same problem, but as of May '08 there was no solution posted! Hope someone can be of some help as I have a very nice keyboard now gathering dust! If the "Genius" bar cannot fix it later on this week, I will have to grudgingly get hold of the wireless aluminium keyboard which I feel is inferior...

Resolved: Error with AirPort adapter in Macbook Pro. Replaced by Apple, works fine now.

    I see several possibilities.
    1. What you are trying to load is not a shared library.
    2. The shared library is compiled incorrectly to match the process space of the VM. There can be any number of causes for this.
Note that the word width mismatch strongly suggests the second.
You should start by forgetting weblogic entirely. Write a simple java app and using an explicit path in the load() method, not loadLibrary(), get it to load. Until it works there it you have no chance in weblogic.

  • Upgrade from Solaris 8 (5.8) to 5.10 fails

    Hi everyone...
Here is a curly one for the Sun gurus.
I attempted to perform the upgrade from Sol 8 (Dec/02) to Sol 10 (from the CD/DVD Jan/06) and got all the way past the "Test Upgrade Profile". The initialize started after I clicked onto the gui "Install Now" button. However, it fails after an hour or so - each an every time.
We have the 4.2.1 DiskSuite defined on a 3310 disk array and well as the 2 system disks - which are striped and mirrored. I can not do a Live Upgrade as I don't have a spare disk, so Sun Support in India suggested I do the upgrade in place...but is crashs attempting to copy files from the CD to the Server, as well as , so other strange error messages?
The first attempt was to leave vfstab untouched, the 2nd was to comment out the disk array (D30, D31, & D32) devices. But both fail. The install logs will be uploaded.

Now initially I had to add a number of packages/patches via the note 72099 that was displayed at the very beginning of the Sol 10 upgrade. Also, do and check the necessary bits via document 16141-1.
But the upgrade just fails. I would like to keep the disk array and its data intact for the upgrade as it has Oracle 11i Apps databases and its a bit of work redefining the metastat and loading Oracle, and the other bits it needs, as well as Netbackup etc.
So, are there are any bright sparks out there that can help?
    Please email me.

  • Will Solaris 10 (Jun/2006) zfs edition consider DiskSuite

    Hi..
I previously upgraded a Sol8 server to Sol10 (Jan/06 without zfs), but it could not perform a upgrade as the disk array had to be unplugged (which was a metastat configuration). So I had to perform a fresh install, and reconfigure DiskSuite which picked up the data and databases correctly for use after the install. This was all with help from a SUN Support case. Anyways..does anyone know if the zfs version of the O/S is smarter and knows how to deal with metastat during an upgrade? I have a production box that is still on Sol 8, with a complex metastat configuration that I will have to upgrade one day soon. But the test box that I took from Sol 8 to Sol 10 (Jun/2006) O/S was difficult as that version of the upgrade could not deal with the DiskSuite configured 3310 disk array.
Please email me at [email protected] if anyone has an update or suggestions
    Thanks for reading...Cheers...Roger

    Hi Darren...
Well I raise CASE: 10815118 with support. On the LIVE Upgrade from Sol 8 to 10 (Jan 2006) attempt and the install_log produced the following...

We had c1 for the O/S disks and c3 & c4 for the 3310 array. Why it was looking for c2 was never determined???
The Sun support mob under that CASE ID suggested after many attempts to perform an upgrade...
    =================>
    In this situation, I recommend:
    1. Remove Disk Array from Server i.e detach the connecting cable
    2. Please check if Internal Disks are visible at OK prompt.:
    ok probe-scsi-all
    ==================<
So I unplugged the array, but because there was no spare disk, I had to end up performing a fresh install, then attach and reconfigure the array exactly as before then the data, and more importantly, the Oracle databases and applications where recovered and useable.
So the question now is ... the server is on sol 10 and I have now rec'd the sol 10 Jun 2006 media...is it possible to perform an upgrade and how will zfs deal with the disksuite defs, because it have real problems under Sol 10 Jan 2006 edition.
Also, with the SUN engineers, on that CASE ID...we never got to the bottom of the problem with upgrading from sol 8 to 10 with disksuite implemented.
    Cheers...Roger

  • Unknown Error Occured (1429)

I recieved a NEW ipod upon request after have a malfunctioning one returned with my ONE YEAR WARRANTY!
Now this ipod, no more than a month after receiving it has shown me Unknown Error Occured (1429). It has not been dropped with exceptions to a few knocks. My MAC wont restore it because this unknown error shows up as well as when I try other computers. Assist is desperatly needed because it just seems to me like these new apple products have a weaker tolarance every generation!
Please help this very concerned customer and if there is not an appropriate way to solve this issue, am I covered on the RENEWED model with like a month warranty since I used the one year warranty?

I get kind of verbose about all the steps I take, so basically try a restore from an older version of the Apps/Utilities/iPod Software Updater. I used version 2005-06-26. Continue reading if you want my full, fun story. My iPods are back to factory settings and functioning, but I have not tried to update/sync from iTunes yet. Baby steps.
I hope I can explain what I did correctly (since I tried so many things and on 2 non-functioning 4th gen 40gb iPods both purchased Christmas 2004), but here goes nothing:
First, one of our ipods just stopped working. It sounded like the HD was caught in a loop (repetitive clicking, whirring, and restarting). I took it to a "Genius" at an Apple store and he looked at it and plugged it in and clicked his mouse around, took it to their back room for a few minutes and came back and pronounced that the HD was bad and the best I could do was either "trade in" for the recycling fee of 25% or pay upwards of $200 to have it repaired (this was in Aug sometime). I was so mad I just kept the ipod. After all I still had one functioning unit that I could use. I could keep the other for spare parts/battery whatever.
Anyway, yesterday while updating some of the music I just added to my iTunes library (v7.0.2(15)), iTunes locked up... my whole computer, so I did a hard reboot. After that, the ipod was stuck (keep in mind this leaves me with 2 broken iPods). So now I'm really mad (determined to fix). So I read some of these posts, try the restore from iTunes, keep getting the 1429 error, tried to basic erase from Disk Utility (failed), tried to secure erase - zero out data (failed - probably because my computer went to sleep - I let it go overnight). So lets pause on unit 2.
And come back to unit 1. In Aug I didn't do my research as I really didn't know where to start - I never got any errors to search the forums with and I was kind of lazy - afterall I still had one working ipod. Anyway, this time I tried putting the ipod into disk mode and it worked! I saw a ray of hope. Since my Mac was busy with iPod 2, I hooked iPod 1 up to my PC, that hadn't been online in a while and has an older version of iTunes & the iPod software. The PC recognized the device as an iPod and restored (I did the AC plug in) and the unit booted up just fine! Imagine my delight!
So back to unit 2 - it's processing overnight, I wake up, and see that it has failed, try to hook it up to my PC and it is recognized as a disk but not an iPod, so it won't restore. But I think maybe the trick is to restore using an older iPod Updater. So I bring it back to my Mac, go to Apps, Utilities, iPod Software Updater and select the oldest one I have on file (2005-06-26). I have unit 2 hooked up via fire-wire, in disk mode, and double click the app to open it. It tells me that I have an iPod plugged in, but not mounted (at least it recognizes that it's an iPod), so I click the restore button (get all the usual windows - auth, double ok's on the restore, etc.). It restores with no errors and the iPod mounts on the desktop, but the unit is still showing the do not disconnect sign and I'm just not sure, so I click restore again to let it go through that process again. The ipod mounts again and still says do not disconnect. So I eject it from the desktop and the iPod changes to the big check-mark with the OK to disconnect (disk mode) screen. That changes to the AC plug in screen (another delightful moment). I plug it in to the AC outlet, it finishes it's restore and I'm back to 2 clean-slate iPods!.

  • Ignored Faces still coming up as unknown

After I upgraded to iPhoto11 I experience some issues with faces.
    1. Many faces that were already detected and labeled have been missing - restored that manually by labelling again
    2. Many faces I have deleted in the old version were detected again. First I started ignoring the phase in the new option available in faces and for some (things that are not faces, but have been detected as such) I went back to the picture to delete the faces frame completely.
Now I have in my smart album "unknown faces" some picture were no unlabeled frame is left, but the photos are nonetheless shown as unknown. Some photos have a unknown face in the information, some don't.
In addition in the faces overview when I selected "looking for new faces" the faces come back up. I tried to label one, but is neither shown on the cork board nor correctly recognized as labeled in the photo itself.
Re-detecting is not solving the issue. Faces are not coming back up again.
An additional problem, which I think might be somehow linked to the above is that in the overview of photos labeled as person ab show the wrong face in the overview, even when the photo is correctly labeled. As far as I saw in all respective cases there is an "unvisible" unlabeled face in the photo.
Does anybody had the same problem and has an idea?
Thanks in advance for your support.
    Janine

I think I now found at least one hint for the problem: I scanned some old photos and changed afterwards the date the pictures were created. Somehow iPhoto stored two versions of some photos (but showing only one). This means that the date of the file has been changed for all as I told it to do, but for some it kept the old versions in iphoto database (I am just copying images to iPhoto).
Still this is not really helping to solve it because I still need to deleted and re-enter manually, but at least a hint where this issue is coming from.
In addition this is also only valid for a smaller part of my photos. Many are already taken with my current camera and time has never been changed.

  • UCCX 4.0 - Second node status is unknown

In UCCX 4.0, the status of 2nd node is shown as unknown and all services status in control center for that particular node are also unknown. I am also not able to login to crsadmin page of 2nd node. Please suggest the possible remedy to bring this node up into production.

    Hi Rehan,
Was adding your UCCX second node successful?
Have you performed the initial appadmin configuration on second node?
Do you have HA license on first node?
IS your second node hardware capacity is equal or greater than the first node?
What about the time zone setting on the second node, is it same as First Node?
Is your CRS Node Manager up and running on the second node? Check this in the windows services page.
You can bring up any of the second Node filed service by navigating to Start->Programs->UCCX Admin->Serviceability tool, click on the second node check for the failure count and failed services, you can enable all the failed services and you need to restart the CRS (or UCCX) Node Manger service to activate them.
    Hope it helps.
    Anand
