  • OSX 10.9 UBS would not recognize devices removed or ejected when re-connected without a reboot.

OSX 10.9 UBS would not recognize devices removed or ejected when re-connected without a reboot. First saw this with my Time Machine backup drive.  Ejected it to put it into a different USB port and Finder never saw it unless I rebooted.  Next it happened with my Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920. Skype recognized the device, but no video feed (audio microphone did work).  Unplugging and replugging the Webcam (and closing and restarting Skype) had the same result; had to reboot the computer (MacBook Pro Retina 15.4, 16 GB RAM) to get it to recognize the device.
Next had a meeting on another new MacBook Pro Retina 15.4 in our conference room hooked up to a 36 inch monitor and the same Logitec Webcam model (not the same device) connected directly into the MB Pro USB port; same exact problem as above.
    Any thoughts?

I have a powered USB 2 hub connected.  The problem remained whether or not the devices were plugged in directly or through the hub.  Beyond that, the camera is a USB 3 device...  Thanks, but any other thoughts?

  • IMac intel does not recognize Boxlight XP-56d projector

The intel iMac flat panel computers that we have in our schools do not recognize the Boxlight XP-56d projectors. However, they do recognize the newer Boxlight XP-58Z projectors. We have tried different cables, building back up from install CDs, eliminating preferences, etc. The projector just cycles through inputs. I have made at least 5 calls into tech support with no resolution. I was hoping one of you may have some ideas. Unfortunately, the middle school with the issue has 6 of these rogue projectors.

Have you checked the manufacturer's site for info or a driver?
Only info I can find is these were discontinued as of 2004.

  • ITunes would not recognize my password.  I have now reset it three times and it still will not let me log in.

For some reason iTunes is not allowing me to buy anything because it will not recognize my password no matter how many times I reset.  I do not get the incorrect (red) password message, it just resets the login screen although my user name remains.  Any suggestions?  My password was recognized in order to log onto this site.

  • Mozilla Support would not recognize my old password and would not send an email to reset it [need ADMIN]

Needed to find a solution to the Firefox Mobile Synching problem and tried to log in to my Mozilla Support account (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US). It would not accept my password that worked before saying that "Accounts created before December 2010 may have issues logging in. Please reset your password below. " Okay, tried to reset password and got this: "We've sent an email to any account using this address. Please follow the link in the email to reset your password." However, no email arrived, after two days and about a dozen of attempts!!!!!! At the same time, I could easily get an email confirmation of my ID and verification that account is active. The only problem is with receiving an email that resets the password.
So, I had to create a new account with a temporary email to use Support - it would not allow me to use my main email address, because "it is used by another account". Thus, my old account is completely locked, and I can not use my email address for a new one. This is not only my problem - I saw other people running into the same trouble. It needs to be fixed soon. At the very least, I need somebody with ADMIN privileges to resend me an email for password reset or delete my old account altogether, so I can use my email again. My old user ID is: TPN49. Thanks.

OK Glad it is fixed, thanks for posting back.
I am not sure if that was due to silent Admin action,or whether it was due to a bug fix with the SUpport. MOzilla (sumo) system.
(IIRC there may have been a couple of recent bug reports but I do not have time to look into that at the moment)

I tried to connect to iTunes but it would not connect because I need the code to unlock it.  Can anyone help me?  Thanks
p.s. I am using a code i have used for years.  I entered it and verified it when I set it up.

  • [SOLVED] kms for intel does not recognize hdmi/displayport

    Hi,
I updated yesterday my laptop, which has a intel gpu coming with the Core-I5 chipset (not the HD one).
With the new kernel 3.6.10, it does not detect any hdmi/displayport ouput anymore. VGA and LVDS are just fine and also the modes which are detected are correct.
First difference is also, that when the external hdmi display is connected also during startup, usually the framebuffer is visible on both LVDS and HDMI but not anymore.
The log output does not look too bad:

  • HT1386 My ipod touch will not sync to itunes after installing version 11.  My computer recognizes that it is connected, but itunes, media moneky, and sharepod would not recognize it.  I tried every suggestion apple and other community folks suggested-no l

itunes diagnostics only finds that no ipod is connected when it really is.  I have tried different cords, unistalled/reinstalled itunes, erased my ipod started over, restarted computer, etc.  My ipod is useless now that I cannot sync it wth itunes and there is now no music on it.  Its a paper weight now.  All of the posts I have read have no solution for this.  I would love to go back to itunes 10 because none of this occured until I downloaded that version.

    Did you do everything here:

Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
New cable and different USB port?

    Hello agardner37701,

  • If xmp creation date precedes raw file date Bridge/ACR does not recognize

I decided to start a new thread with this revelation from a prior discussion, because of its importance.
I have several iPad apps that apply metadata to raw images captured in the field using the camera connection kit.  These apps have various export mechanisms, with a typical capability to bundle up raw images from the Photos app space with xmp files from the metadata editor app's space, and deliver them via ftp or however.  I have seen failures where the creation date of the image file was made equal to the creation date of the xmp, and subsequent to export Bridge would not recognize the xmp file as valid edits to the raw file, even though they both had the same file name ahead of the extension.  Up to now I never understood the cause of the failure.  Opening the xmp file in a text editor and saving it out with a later creation date "fixed" the problem.
Adobe either needs to change this behavior (IMO the right solution, forget about checking creation dates) or at least publish the dependency.  I believe there are a lot of programmers out there that had no idea that the creation date could invalidate the coupling between the raw file and the xmp file.
    Richard Southworth

    Ok, made some tests.
First: there is nothing interesting in /sys/class/drm. Only one file called version... which, as you might guess, contains the version info for DRM.
Secondly: tested this Phantom Output thing. Used LVDS-1, LVDS-0, LVDS... nothing.
I even tried to add i915 and intel_agp modules to the initramfs... nothing changed.
However, I looked a bit more into dmesg and found another interesting thing:
    [ 2.038447] Linux agpgart interface v0.103
    [ 2.041261] input: Video Bus as /devices/LNXSYSTM:00/device:00/PNP0A08:00/LNXVIDEO:01/input/input8
    [ 2.048750] ACPI: AC Adapter [ACAD] (on-line)
    [ 2.060820] agpgart-intel 0000:00:00.0: Intel 945GM Chipset
    [ 2.060849] agpgart-intel 0000:00:00.0: detected gtt size: 0K total, 0K mappable
    [ 2.060858] agpgart-intel 0000:00:00.0: Intel (null) Chipset
    [ 2.060867] agpgart-intel 0000:00:00.0: can't determine aperture size
    [ 2.060933] agpgart-intel 0000:00:00.0: agp_backend_initialize() failed
    [ 2.060942] agpgart-intel: probe of 0000:00:00.0 failed with error -22
So it seems there is a problem with the AGP module not correctly detecting the card in the first place
Edit: also tested it with the internal screen connected, still the same problem.

  • Intel imac not starting

Hey kids, was installing Adobe CS2 Premium suite when she locked up midway through the installation. I had to manually shut'r down... When I restarted it, it locked up at the 'Starting OS X' screen..... I tried the disk repair utility and it found some errors, it repaired them, I restarted, but still the same problem. I tried disk warrior, but the system would not recognize it as a bootable disk (***?).... I zapped the PRAM.... I verified permissions and repaired through the disk utility..... still isn't starting up.
Any ideas out there??? Please.... Thanks.

Not all of CS2 is Intel compatible.
You need to boot into Safe Mode (press the "Shift" key during startup) and completely remove Version Cue, it is incompatible with Intel Macs. Safe Mode is a longer startup (3-5 minutes) but it disables any 3rd party startup items in the process. Acrobat has also had issues with Intel Macs but Adobe has an update that is supposed to fix that.
Do a search here in the Intel Forum for the many other threads for CS2 issues. There are a few.

  • Windows will not recognize ipod nano anymore

At the beginning it was working fine, but after I left it for a week it stopped working. When I plugged it to the computer, the computer would not recognize it.
When I plugged in the ipod nano into Window XP, the following happens:
    - Window XP lags and take a long time to display the message "new hardware found"
    - my ipod displays the charging symbol
    - then ipod shows the screen "Do not disconnect" and it stalls on this screen
    - after awhile, Windows show a "safely remove hardware" icon on the bottom right of my screen, but it describes the recognized hardware as "Apple ipod USB Device at location 0"
    Note that:
    - my ipod is not charged at all after all this
    - itunes would not recognize my ipod
    - there's not hardware icon in "My Computer" and "Device Manager"
    - my computer can recognize my friend's ipod
    - I can neither restore or reset my ipod because it does not get passed the "Do not disconnect" screen
So if anybody could provide any help, i'll be very very grateful. =P Please save me.

Maybe for that one week that you left your iPod nano idle, your iPod software automatically updated and left you with some strange conflict.
Anyhow, your symptons sound similar to some described in this article:

  • Itunes will not recognize Ipod Touch

Ok, so I tried to install Itunes 8 when it first released the other day. I received the BSOD, I ended up reverting back to the last known working configuration for windows. So back to Itunes 7.7.1 or whatever. Plugged my Touch in, and it would not recognize at all. I checked in the hardware config and it seemed that the drivers were not installed for the Ipod. I found out about the HP printer fix, and unplugged my HP printer. I installed Itunes 8, works fine now.
BUT, I plugged my Ipod Touch in, and I get a new hardware wizard, installs the drivers, and asks what I want to do with it, pull pictures off? It's acting like an external drive. Itunes won't recognize it though, no beeps stating it was connected, just won't recognize it is there.
Is there anything I can do to fix this?

The first five of those I actually tried. I should check the services menu, and I uninstalled Itunes, but did not restart afterwards. So when I reinstalled, everything was still there. I will try doing that tonight after work.
